Review Jade City Chinese Seafood Restaurant - Thornleigh

Enoch Zhao
What makes dining at this Chinese restaurant such an authentic experience? Is it the spacious floorplan? Check. Is it the big tables covered with overflowing tablecloths? Check. Is it the fish tanks with green murky water lining one side of the wall? Check. Is it the humongous dishes enough to feed two people per dish? Check. Is it the friendly and efficient server who tried her best to accommodate us? Check. Or is it the random handwritten specials posters hanging the walls? Check. This restaurant certainty made me relive the dining experience I've had as a child in China. We ordered our food off the lunch specials menu and each dish was enough to feed two grown men.

Surprisingly good Chinese restaurant. Big menu, some specialty dish and quick service. Not too busy on a rainy saturday. Delicious and affordable, feels like a good place for big groups.

Simple but rich taste without any doubt. Lunch special is the best with many choices. Easy parking is available just outside the store. Friendly staff is a big credit.

Authentic Chiu Chow cuisine and a great small local diner nested in a quiet Thornleigh complex. Certainly our local favourite.

Wonderful place for chiuchau (chaozhou) Chinese cuisine. The owner was very welcoming and the food was very nice for reasonable prices. If I lived closer I would definitely visit more often. The restaurant has been operating for many years and looks good. Very authentic food.

Wow. Loved this place, such a fond memory of it. - Writing this review (they deserve one) 5 years after I visited with my beautiful family!

Very glad with the quality of food and service. Good value for money. More important it taste authentic and delicious. My favourite dishes are braised duck with tofu, Soy King Prawn, Shredded Chicken, and many more. They even give free dessert soup after meal. Overall cleanliness is good.

Restaurant quality dishes at food court prices (for lunch). Friendly service and delicious food, been back twice now and will be back for many times more.

This humble Chinese restaurant sits in the Central Park cluster of eateries in Thornleigh in Sydney’s north. It’s not a flashy place and it’s been here a long while. This translates into something being done well. In this case, it’s the food. We started with the almost clichéd Aussie Chinese dish of honey king prawns. While some may argue it’s a travesty, we do like it now and then and so we have it occasionally. This was one of those times and we’re glad we did. There were plenty of big plump prawns in a nice thin golden batter. They had a lovely sticky honey coating too. It all combined so well.

Absolutely loved the quality and taste of the food and friendly staff. I ordered the beef and black bean (one of my old time favourites) and it was one of the best tasting ones I have had in a very very long time. Staff where very friendly and welcoming. Loved it

After a couple of disappointments over the Easter weekend I didn’t hold out much home this would be a winner, boy was I wrong.
An old school unpretentious Chinese restaurant serving Teow Chew / Chiu Chou style dishes. I’m not going into history / geography lesson to explain the finer intricacies but suffice to say we were pleasantly surprised!

Has the lunch special dishes of beans with mince, soy duck w tofu, seafood omelette with preserve radish & black bean fish with tofu. Simple food done perfectly. What you’d notice straight away is that the food is hardly oily, good for all you dieting folks!

We’d definitely come back again.

An affordable and homely Chinese restaurant which serves great Cantonese home cooked dishes. The food here had perfect flavour and the service was very efficient and genuine. Seafood was fresh and all dishes had a great balance of flavours and weren’t too oily.

Chiu Chou is located in Pennant Hills in a quaint shop. Despite its location, don't let it fool you. The food here is very delicious and flavoursome! The service is extremely efficient as the staff cater to your needs. They are very on the ball and helpful.

Visiting Chiu Chou for lunch is a great decision as they have a great lunch menu at fantastic, low prices! The portion sizes are very large - perfect for taking away leftovers to reheat for dinner.

We've visited twice and despite the humble outside appearance, the inside is filled with people and bustling with staff.

The pork spare ribs with chiang kong sauce are one of my favourites! The pork pieces are fried perfectly - crispy on the outside while still very tender and succulent on the inside. The sauce is sticky and flavours the pork amazingly. The fried rice at this restaurant has a very unique flavour but is nothing short of delicious. The ingredients are fresh and very tasty. The braised mixed vegetables with bean curd was also a great dish. The flavours were quite familiar of those of a home cooked meal; in saying this, it had a nostalgic and delicious taste. The crispy chicken was quite standard - delicious, but nothing special although it did come with a very tasty dipping sauce.

Overall, Chiu Chou has a very homely feel to its restaurant. The dishes are very delicious and the large portion sizes will most likely leave you with some leftovers for dinner (definitely not complaining). Would love to return!

Had a very tasty and enjoyable meal tonight.😋 The two of us enjoyed an entree of scallop, massive oyster and abalone. The Silver Perch was also tasty, moist and the sauce was to die for. Have been thinking of coming here for a while and really glad we did.

my regular lunch and dinner restaurant, managed and run by owner. Always friendly service with a smile, lunch menu is very cheap. $8-12. Dinner price is average. Food is tasty in my opinion. 5 star!!!

Extremely overpriced for very average food. I ordered spicy prawns (for $23!), the approx. 10 prawns on the dish were sickly sweet and oily, not even spicy. Honey chicken wasn't even golden, spring rolls and dim sims were the usual frozen out of the box job, throw in a couple of wines and a flavourless hot and spicy soup and the $100 bill that resulted from this left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Should've just gone to the Maccas next door. Toilets would've been heaps cleaner at Maccas as well. Never again !!!
