Review Romeo's Bistro - Toorak

M Mandel
Classic Italian menu but no pizza on offer lol. Food is standard fare at average prices but alcohol is on the high side. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rest room is very clean.

What a traincrash of a restaurant. Touted to be the best in Toorak, the service was shocking. When we arrived, the waitress didn't know who we were. Even though we had booked. We were then herded to the bar. We sat around for ten minutes. Finally, we were shown our table. We ordered. I ordered an entrees and a main. My friend ordered a main. When the meals came out, my entree and main meal were served at the same time. My friend's meal was nowhere to be seen. I sent the main back which was then lost. At the end of the meal, we received the bill - a tidy $250. I was stunned. It was so bad that I will never go back to this restaurant ever in my life. I can barely stand 🧍‍♀️ walking past it. I give it 0 out of 10. I hope the owners read this.

Feels like an establishment that has been on the street forever. There were plenty to locals inside. The food was amazing! Lumberjack was probably made for a lumberjack's appetite. Great coffee too.

Have been coming here on and off for around 20 years. It's always a bustling but comfortable spot with extra room upstairs and out front that are opened up when needed. The staff are always friendly and helpful, never intrusive somehow. I have never had a disappointing dish from the menu. They have always been delicious standard Italian fare with just a little flair. First time players may want to stick with entree sizes when ordering pasta, but your mileage may vary. A decent selection of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails are available. Just returned after too long and, on an incredibly busy evening of chill winter weather, Romeo's was a warm and friendly haven of deliciousness.

Everything I have ordered from Romeos on the few times I have been there have been amazing, particularly the steak and the sticky date pudding. The owner however on each occasion has been extremely rude to both his own staff and customers, which for me is unacceptable in any service industry. But there's a trade off between supporting his business and receiving delicious food!

We have been eating at Romeo's for so many years now I can't remember when it all started. Thank you for all the wonderful meals and birthdays we have enjoyed there. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely meal tonight. Delicious fresh salad and seafood marinara was very yummy. Great range of desserts and the staff are very friendly and courteous. Warm cozy atmosphere.

Great pasta, dessert and coffee. Always busy esp after 6pm.

So happy to dine at Romeos after 20 years and still enjoy my fave dish, the lemon & herb chicken. Love love love. Keep up the good work guys.
Catherine Cladakis
My favourite restaurant best service best food friendly staff, have been going there for years.

Enjoyed our meal and staff are great, very friendly and attentive. Only one gripe and it was a table beside us, 3 women, we're constantly smoking, I believe this is not allowed and smokers must be so many meters from where food is being served and eaten. As we are non smokers it was not a pleasant experience as their smoke was being blown towards us.

We had a great night last night. The food was excellent as usual except for the lasagne. I have never seen it served that way with lashings of mince on top. Our guest from London could not eat it. Never mind! Will still go back!

First went there about 11 years back , our first wedding anniversary & ever since it's tradition for us to have our anniversary dinner there!! Now have been able to rope in a few friends on it as well !! The Cajun chicken salad is the one to die for !!

My partner and I have been going to Romeos for many years. We thoroughly enjoy the beautiful food and the fantastic service. The staff are very pleasant & helpful. The food we just love & highly recommend Romeos for all to try.

I've been going to Romeo's for over 20 yrs when I'm in town (live a couple of hrs away). The atmosphere & service is exceptional (and always has been) As for the food.....delicious every time..... big portions & very reasonably priced .
Judy Jay
The spaghetti marinara was beautiful. However, not sure whether the "greek" salad was worth $26!!!! Comprising of shredded lettuce, four olives, sun dried tomatoes and a "cheaper" version of feta cheese, I can't understand why it was so pricey!!!
Rob Rogalski
The best , great food and terrific service . Thanks George
Michelle Tremellen
Beautiful food, lovely staff, would definitely come again when in Melbourne.

Great Service. Excellent Food. Must have the Strawberry Pancakes for dessert.
Food ❤️❤️
I tried out avocado bacon pasta 🍝 from this place the taste and quality of food is quite appreciatable 💕

Romeos has a special place in my heart, I use to come here all the time as a child and when I came back to eat , the food was still nostalgic ! The Caesar salad here is probably the first ones I’ve ever tried

Love the pasta here too , not handmade but still great flavours - theres a sense of familiarity here
A great family resturant

A restaurant known and loved by generations of locals. Romeo’s is quintessentially the heart of the Toorak Village. The food is homely and suitably priced. Staff are friendly and warm. However the decor and ambiance is tired, dingy and run down. A refurbishment is urgently needed.
Stefan Michael
“La Porchetta of Toorak” Quite busy and a high rating but our experience was very disappointing. The waitress didn’t want to be there, the orders were confirmed twice and still mixed up. The antipasto platter was supermarket quality and my parmigiana had little flavour, Over $100 for 2 and we left feeling full but dissatisfied. Will not be returning
FoodieGuru_770
Good family restaurant. This has been around for scores of years. It is really been here through the years and I have been here with parents and kids and grandparents. The food is good, generous serves and the crepes are awesome.
Sandy
Way too expensive for what it was. The side salad was RSL style. The music playing was fox.fm or something and it was way out of place. There's two stir fries on what is an Italian menu, and the pastas weren't homemade. Not the absolute worst but nowhere near the best and it was way too expensive for what the standard was. The prices suggested I would be eating great food in a wonderful atmosphere. I got neither.

Italian not usually my first choice for dining out, but this place was booked by a friend in our group and was great. Very friendly and fast service. Meals were delicious. Highly recommend the seafood crepe! Hubby had the salmon and avocado salad and loved it too. Highly recommend and will hopefully be back 😊

Romeos has been a long standing traditional italian cafe.
It's our go to for late night coffees till 1am. Best lavazza coffees made, cocktails and quality dinners as well if you're up for a nibble. The veal scallopine is beautiful topped with fries and mushroom sauce. Staff are most friendly and best of all you can enjoy the heated outdoor area.

This used to be my fav restaurant. I've been going to Romeos for 20 years (I'm only 31) and always ordered the exact same thing every time "chicken salad" why?..because it was THAT GOOD! Everything from the way the chicken was cooked to what is put in the salad and that dressing OMG!! Seriously the best meal ever. HOwever it's really sad to see these days they made a change!!!!!!! The salad is half the size of what it used to be 😰😖😭 and yet the price continues to rise!!!$$$$ at approx $26 for a tiny salad that used to be so dam good. Romeos please bring back the original size!! It was on the med to large size however it's a main meal that you charge $26 for, therefore it should be a decent size. No one wants to pay $26 for a salad that's nearly the size of some restaurants side salad. Please I beg, I miss this salad so much as it was a part of me while growing up. It was the only thing I ever ordered despite all the other amazing options on the menu for 20 yrs and I raved to everyone about it. Now it's gone and I feel empty and cold inside.

This restaurant has been in Toorak for decades and frequented by famous sports and local stars.
The menu has barely changed over the years.
Vegan fettuccini can be made with olive oil and avocado upon request. Entree size is large enough for a decent meal.
Spinach lasagne was nice but really creamy and filling.
The baked flounder was huge and enough for two to share. Definitely the biggest I've seen in Melb. It comes with either a baked potato or chips and salad or steam veggies.
The crepes here are really good.
Unfortunately the hot chocolate was too sweet and tasted rather artificial.
Service was fast and very friendly.
Sotasty
Been here twice and loved the food both times. Great flavours, nice home style cooking. They get extremely busy but it's worth the wait for the food. The wine is pretty nice as well. Good service even when it's busy.

Love this place! You can always find us there getting their massive salads, takeaway veggies, or just a coffee. The best place for just anything and recommend it highly if you want great service!
Wolf Of Collins St.
I cannot believe this place is exist in an area like Toorak. Let's start with style and atmosphere, which was a travel back to 80's, it was a bit to much unchanged if you know what I mean. Food pretty average, schnitzel was tasteless and kitchen staff didn't bother to chop the lettuce for salad before they soak it in the sauce, and many more....when you add the prices then you understand why I won't go back there again.
Jean
This place is a landmark of Toorak's and the many photos of locals on the wall with the overall homely feel prove it is sure to stay around for a long time. The staff is very friendly and service quite fast but it is a little pricey for the dishes you get. At times the staff can also be a little too attentive and ask whether you want another drink or anything else a little too much.

My mouth is still watering after last night at Romeos, I just had to write this!
I've been there countless times over at least 15 years and have loved every meal.
As a Melbournian we have high foodie expectations and Romeos never fails to impress. It's like going home to family and sitting down to a meal that you just know will be fabulous. Thankfully we were in a big group so I got to have some of all of my favourites. No one does garlic bread, calamari, marinara pasta, chocolate mousse or strawberry crepes quite like they do at Romeos and with the extensive yummy wine list, this is one happy lady!
Being a family owned business you always feel welcome. I can't wait until my next meal there. Yummy!!

If word around town is to be believed, this is classic Toorak. A Toorak village establishment for over 30 years, Romeo's certainly makes its presence felt in the local community.

Classic Toorak to the core and that means the prices as well. I've enjoyed many coffees here but have only ordered a meal once because of the price.

That meal was the crerpes with cinnamon and butter which was very wet and served with ice cream and fresh fruit with optional whipped cream. Not outstanding and would expect better but the ambience and overall experience point to an above average review this time!

1980 called. Romeos answered. Overpriced, average food. The last time I went (I am a local) I ordered 3 coffees on a Friday night at 630pm and 15 minutes later the owner whispered to the waitress who told us that they needed the table for people who were planning to order food. What a joke. I hope they read this. Very disappointing. There is a reason the clientele look like the rows of the catholic church. Gen Y's won't put up with crap 80's food & service. Time to evolve Romeo.

Great place! These guys know what they are doing. Iv been here a couple of times and its always good. I love that the foods good, service is good and the kitchen is usually open to midnight and later on weekends, so good if its late and you've been to a movie or something and you don't want nasty take away. Highly recommend Romeos!
Put The Kettle On
If you are after good traditional Italian meals, this is the place. Not the fancy modern fare. Sometimes you just want traditional. Romeo's has been around for years! So they must be doing something right. Service is very good, wait staff are friendly and prompt. Meals came out quickly and they were good. Would have liked Carbonara with no cream but oh well, my fault i should have asked, but still ok. Chicken Parm, Chicken Scallopine, Spag Marinara, all good -- My party of eight enjoyed their meals. I like the touch of fresh chilli sauce as opposed to the chilli flakes. Has a nice buzzing ambiance. Entree size pasta was more than ample. They even split a large size meal for the little kiddos sharing, two separate plates (another nice touch!). Reasonably priced. Parking easy, on the street.

Shut the front door this is one amazing place and I can't believe I'm not here all the time being local - but I'd be the size of a house too.

Portions are HUGE. Get the small serves of pasta and they are still so big I couldn't finish!

Spicy beef rigatoni is full of tender beef, pasta and a smoky spicy sauce but the best part is the cashew nuts. Weird but it works!!

Partner had the lasagne, bechamel was creamy, meat tender and flavourful and the garlic bread was old school and FULL of garlic / yum.

We had our own wine so BYOW but we also had a cocktail and it was great. Strawberry crepes to finish off reminded me of being in Germany again - full of fresh fruit, yummy crepes and sauce.

Romeo has won me over.

Came back and had lunch and they do amazing sandwiches too! Best chocolate milkshake we've had too!

Food for the masses....this place will not leave you asking "please sir can i have some more?" Although it's not the best Italian I've had, I still rate it....home style feel and friendly staff make it a nice casual night out.
Specific dish reviews are as follows. Marinara tomatoe base is good but lacks any real punch, the quality of the seafood is excellent, but the dish would benefit from a sharper parmesan then they provide. The Gnocchi fungi is rich and tastey, entre is more then sufficient for a filling meal. Spinach lasagne is green and cheesy, what more could you want?? Beef lasagne was also reported as good. Shoe string fries, crisp, just add salt. Smoked salmon pasta.... not a big fan....a cream based sauce with a few slices of smoked salmon on top, this dish would benefit if the sauce was slightly thicker and punchier, it does not stick to the pasta well at all and the smoked salmon needs to be sliced finely and sprinkled generously on top.
Desserts,
The chocolate mouse is super sweet, rich and quite thick, you would struggle to eat more then a half serve, or even that. Sticky date pudding was well received. Crepes are delicious and generous as is everything else. Pitty they often ruin the Crepes with a sickly sweet sauce, perhaps ask for the sauce on the side. The apple strudel was waaaaay too sweet and was more sultana then apple....pity. Overall the good outweigh the bad and this place is worth it for date night:)
3/5

This was very poor quality food. We found ourselves out of our usual patch and without much choice. I hadn't been there for 20 years and we found ourselves there for a quick bite on a Monday night. The service was friendly however it's hard to understand how in Melbourne, simple Italian food can be so so ordinary. I was most amused by the local Toorak-ites who were inhaling it like it was ice cream.
The Reluctant Foodie
Romeo's is lovely for a quick lunch while in Toorak or South Yarra. Bring your own wine and feast on their delicious food. Special mention to the spaghetti with chilli chicken, sun dried tomatoes and fresh snap peas. I am stuffed with good food!
Crazy Foodie
Always go here for the dessert only so can't really comment for the main food. Their Mellow yellow crepes and hot choco fudge cake are the best! Generous portion and tastes great! The staffs are all nice. Even though we only eat dessert, they always accomodate us with smiles.

Great family run restaurant that is always packed. You are warmly welcomed as soon as you enter and treated like family. I always have the minestrone soup and lasagne for a cheat meal! Cannot highly recommend this venue enough, great to take a bunch of mates for a few laughs and hearty feed ✅✅✅✅

Get the Seafood crepe. Do it!
The staff were jovial and very helpful with questions about the menu. A good, relaxed, family vibe. But seriously..the seafood crepe..
Catherine
My local favorite. The pastas are hearty and filling. Staff are warm, welcoming and genuine. $9 corkage is affordable. Don't skip the desserts!

Have been going to Romeo's since the late 80's. Always great service. I just wish they would bring back the pâté. That was a favourite. Great coffee.
Fazz'z Food Trail
After being there thrice & expecting improvement, the antipasto platter for $24 was the last straw - dumping a bit of iceberg lettuce, bottled olives, feta, sun dried tomatoes & off cuts of steak on a plate DOES NOT cut the mustard.... Extremely disappointed!
VAprincess
I have been visiting Romeos since 1999. I love that it doesn't try to be fancy, it's like going to an old friends place for dinner.
Consistently great food, friendly bar service if we have to wait for a table (Hi Deano!) and always a lovely warm welcome and catch up with George the owner 😘
The pastas are so good, I think my favourite is the tagliatelle chicken. Or maybe the carbonara. Or avocado pasta... I can't choose just one! Also excellent Lemon chicken, risotto, stir fry and the salmon salad is HUGE. I'm not a dessert person so can't comment about that, but they look very impressive. The chefs are also happy to adapt your dishes as you like. Do yourself a favour, ask for a side of their chilli sauce. I get it in take away containers to take home. They need to bottle and sell that stuff.
Troy
Nothing to fault here, except that we wish we had more time. Popped in for a quick lunch (40mins) and were upset we couldn't indulge longer with dessert. We were served almost instantly upon arrival, with a friendly staff member who was more than happy to explain some of the menu to us.
I tried the rigatoni spicy beef pasta and it was delicious, I was surprised to see real slices of tender beef arrive on my plate (instead of minced beef) and fresh tomatoes, fresh herbs and freshly grated Parmesan. The pasta was cooked aldenté and the coffee was full flavoured and smooth, not bitter, the garlic bread was nice and crunchy on the exterior but soft on the inside just how I like it. Romeos was a nice experience all round and I'll be coming back!

Come here for coffee ofter, this place has a nice vibe about it. Shoe strings fries are a must try. Consistent everytime. Pasta's are good but a little pricey, i guess that is the price you pay in Toorak.
Toodles
An oldie but a good option when u just can't think of where to go. Fast service, food is consistent, atmosphere load and fun. I think it's time to update the timber look, it's starting to get a bit dated.

Huge meals very traditional Italian ! Antipasto was great !! Pasta special was just what my husband wanted for a late afternoon meal in Melbourne
Appalling. There is no other word to describe this place but horrible. In this day and age, Melbourne deserves better. This calibre of slop does not belong on Melbourne's streets. We normally eat quite healthily, but decided we'd splurge tonight on some authentic Italian food. We ordered Gnocchi Carbonara and a Veal parmigiana. Really, any Italian restaurant should be able to nail both dishes. What we got: gnocchi from a packet, cold, slightly sweet and doughy. The carbonara sauce was runny, probably not even cream ( let alone sporting any authenticity with a hint of egg), tasteless and salt-less. The gnocchi were different colors and luke warm at best, with some pieces cold in the middle. As for the veal, there was a half-serve of veal hidden under double the amount of ham, topped with cheese at least 2cm thick that, when cooled, became a solid block. Again, the veal was cool, the tomato sauce on top was out of a bottle and the vegetables on the side were out of a packet- a hand full of machine-chopped carrots, 2pieces of broccoli and 2 beans. No dressing, no finesse at all. The only marginally edible part of our dishes were the shoestring chips, which were processed and cooked on the spot- really, if they had got those wrong, they should have shut the shop then and there. That disastrous meal cost us nearly $60 and they had the audacity to request a tip. I'll give them a tip- re-invent yourselves or perish. Melbourne is the food capital of Australia and you are an embarrassment to the food movement. Oh , and it wasn't even a busy night, to ge good enough reason for this truly horrible meal.

Unprofessional. Food was ok but don't expect any change when paying with cash

Really really great meal service was excellent and all of our meals were amazing and I would definitely go back again

venture into the other eateries along Toorak Road. Romeo's was the first one we tried. It's right next to Manhattan and always appears to be rather busy.

Excellent coffee & friendly service

Authentic and satisfying. Romeo's is a stalwart of Toorak Village and for good reason. It keep things simple, does it well and is priced accordingly. The staff are great and the service is second to none.
We had a large group of 30 and sat upstairs and they handled us with ease. No issues with incorrect orders, which always seems to happen with large groups.
The food was a highlight. We started with garlic bread, calamari and chips to share. Then I opted for the barramundi with veggies and salad and it was a fair feast. A generous portion of fish that was cooked perfectly made me a happy customer. Those around me ordered everything from the chilli prawn pasta, to the chicken and cashew risotto, to stir fries, to a good old fashioned parma. All the food looked great and the serving sizes very healthy.
I avoided dessert but the chocolate cake with ice cream was impressive, as was the gelato. My hot chocolate finished off a great meal.
Highly recommend heading along for a great feed!

We happened to stumble in...,,what a find!!! Delicious food, great atmosphere, fast service, friendly staff! Highly recommended!! Will definitely come back.

Hearty Italian!. Romeos has a very authentic Italian menu, I tried the pasta (it was on the specials board), it had a beautiful cream and napoli sauce and the chicken was delicious. The garlic prawn salad was a generous serve and had a yummy balsamic dressing, and they were generous with the chips with the scaloppine. The only bad thing i can say is the garlic & herb bread was quite dry and stale tasting! Otherwise it was great!
Ryan
Pretty decent fare here in a humble setting. Pasta was delicious and service was nice.
Vera
Not as good as it used to be. I have been eating at Romeos on and off for many years and it's always been OK , nothing to impressive but good value and enough food. Going by that I took my overseas guests there for lunch on Sunday > atmosfere was great , nice to sit out side on the sunny afternoon, staff was very friendly and helpful. When it come to food , well , what happened ?? Portions big enough for a cat , side salad was one lettuce leaf , pasta dish very small , needles to say that the price of pasta is so low that surely they could afford to put a bit more on the plate. Also the taste was very bland and sweets also not up to their usual standard , considering the price >>> not good enough.
The Tastebud
Revolting. I looked forward to dining at Romeo's as I figured that this restaurant must be doing something right as they have been around for so many years and it is still reknown as at Toorak 'institution'.

There was 5 of us, and 4 of the 5 ordered different meals, which enabled me to get a good overview of the offerings. Pretty basic at best...most home cooks (with no taste buds and impaired vision) would do a better job than the 'cooks' (definitely can't use the word 'chef') at this establishment.

I foolishly ordered spaghetti marinara. It was a simple tomato sauce with pre- frozen prawns that tasted like rock hard bullets, and a few weeny scallops. The portion was large but it was underwhelming and not up to restaurant or even cafe standards. It was also expensive. I should have taken a photo- it was a complete joke.

The fellow diners were definitely locals- can always tell by the skin 'tautness' and the fanta coloured spray tans. Lots of champagne quaffing with minimal food intake (get the picture?!). Actually, they knew how bad the food is, so they just stuck to the grog! I guess that they had tried and tested this place over the years and knew how to play the game.

Waitresses were all young and beautiful...though not particularly attentive or friendly.

Interior hasn't been touched since the 70s- which I found quite quirky as I get tired of $5 mill restaurant fit outs.

A big tick- as in been there, done that. But I have absolutely no desire to go back - ever!

There are some gorgeous restaurants adjacent to Romeo's on Toorak road- definitely bypass Romeo's and head to one of them.

Both mine and my friend's food was revolting. Worst meal I've had this year.
James Morphy
Just back from restaurant capital of aust Noosa, the food and service here is better. We'll done to the staff! Rigatoni matricciana is the best!
Toni
Good food, fair priced. Good generous serving, good service, affordable.
Jimbo
An oldie but not a goodie. The good news is the place seemed popular on a cold Monday night. Plenty of ataff, prices moderate and portion sizes big. The bad news is that the menu is quite limited with older style dishes and the food relatively tasteless.
GGx
Lunch Institution. Been there several times for lunch, always had a pleasant experience. Their salmon servings is one of the biggest I've ever seen....absolutely love it!
12/20

Great food and always a warm welcome
Mike San
Regular customer at Romeo's. The family live locally and have been customers for 2 decades and I can tell all that the food is always good, service always fast, and unlike many other restaurants, each main course (except pasta) gets salad or vegetables included at no extra cost. Go there and you will not ever be disappointed.
Ben Nowland
Pleasant atmosphere, decent service. Wine menu is poor with limited selection. Food was disappointing - very much pub food, but not at pub prices. Not recommended.

One of our favourite local Italian restaurants! We are regulars for 6 years. Non-pretentious, great food, generous portion, good value & excellent service. My favourite is Spaghetti Marinara (creamy sauce) & my partner's is Chicken Parma. Make sure you have room for the best Chocolate Mousse!
S.C
Great Food. I have been coming to Romeos for years and I really have no complaints.

Great srevice, affordable and yummy food! The chicken satay is my favoutite :)
Franky
Excellent Italian food, and crepes!. Quite surprising for being in the middle of snobby ol' Toorak, but the food is very tasty, large servings and well-priced. The wait staff are really friendly, and treat you like family. And the crepes are delish!

Great for the occasional date, or for a regular haunt.
Naomi Chin
Awful place with the worst Italian food that I have eaten in my entire life (and I've eaten in a lot of places including in Italy). 2 pasta dishes ordered and they both had no flavour or taste whatsoever. Over priced and no value for money.
Chris Poynton
Great dining experience. The service is excellent, the food is fantastic, and all in all a great experience.
Kevin Plant
Great feed. I went to Romeos for the 1st time last night! It was packed, but there were plenty of staff so we were looked after fairly quickly. The food was very tasty nothing flashy but very big servings ! You don't want go there if you are not hungry. And you have to leave room for desert, choc fudge cake and crepes were delicious!! I'll be back!!
HungryBeavers
Great Italian pasta. Very hearty & tastes like nona used to make it. Will be back

An institution. I love Romeos

The beautiful wait staff always look after you, and it's one of those places that just feels like home. Your water glass is never empty.

The meals are very generous, and are of high quality. It's always consistently good, no matter what hour of the day you arrive. That's why they have been around for so long I'm sure.

Service is very swift

My favourite dish is the Blintz, it's a heavy luxurious desert - that always satisfies.

Recommend

Love it. Cute place with great food. A little pricey but great value for money with large, tasty portions. Wide range on menu, service impeccable, late trading hours and perfect for a date or even a family dinner. Had the calamari and seafood linguini. Couldn't stop eating, very much rolled out of there. One to go back to again and again.

Hearty, big meals!. Going out for dinner (or even coffee) in Toorak - is hard!!!

So i went for a wander with my boyfriend and his housemate, we stumbled along Romeo's Bistro.

It was packed but they found us a table. The menu was exactly what you'd expect for an Italian restaurant. The meals at other tables were huge and looks delicious. The drinks arrived fast and were reasonably priced (as are the meals).

We started with the antipasto platter. While it was a dated mix. We lapped it up. Delicious. A great start.

I had the chicken parmigiana, it was huge and delicious. Very tender and moist chicken. My boyfriend had the spinach lasagna, he complains that it was mushy but i think it looked yummy and plentiful.

I was too full to order dessert but the offerings were classic not pretentious. The whole experience was lovely.

A great place to go for people in Toorak. An honest, plentiful and delicious offering.
Barbara Lndsy
Like Grandma's. Romeo's is where you eat when you can't be bothered cooking or going out for dinner. It's like going to Grandma's: reliable, predictable and always delicious. I have been quite a few times with a family friend who dines here incredibly frequently and the staff are always very friendly and efficient. Your meal won't take long to arrive and in the mean time you'll be diligently waited on for drinks.

It's usually quite busy but saying that it's not claustrophobic -rather warm & cosy- brilliant for winter. Outside dining is available with heaters for cool evenings.
Don't bother with entrées - the mains are huge! Salmon or steak both have choices of salad/vegies & chips/baked potato (DELICIOUS!) The steak was amazingly tender, cooked to perfection.

Definitely your home away from home.
Kate Manion
Undecided. Yummy mains, but last time we weren't offered the dessert menu, nor asked for a top up of our wine, or coffee - which we would have said yes to all...
Jem
Fantastic service. Great pastas. Love this place!

Local love. This place has been around for over 25 years. and it hasnt changed. that might seem like a bad thing, but to those that know and love this place, its perfect. the food is always excellent, the menu hasnt changed and neither has the standard and quality of the food (though the prices have steadily risen) BUT! dont worry - you definitely wont go home hungry. the portion sizes here are unlike any other! no matter what you order, you wont be disappointed. my personal favourites include the schnitzels (good meat:batter - thickish meat!)/ parmas, any of the main courses, salads are incredible, the lasagne!, any of the pastas, and if youre feeling a little naughty, the fried calamari and the hot chocolate fudge cake are mouth-watering! and dont forget the pancakes! desserts all have your choice of cream or icecream OR BOTH!
Rob
Thanks Romeo's!. I had booked here for my birthday, as it was one of the few places around that could seat 12 people at short notice (I left the organising a little too late). I had heard it could get a little noisy, but they sat us upstairs. Apart from a hen's night at the other end, it was just us and two very friendly and attentive waiters. The food was very well priced and really yummy! I had a very memorable night and everyone commented on how it was a great venue. I'm already booking for next year!

Nothing changes and the vibe keeps it together. We've been long time patrons of Romeo's - the food is good and fast; the hours are great and it's not unusual to meet new people and chat till the early hours. George and Co are great people, and the place hasn't changed much over the last 16 years ... while the waitresses are probably hired for eye-candy more than serving skills, they manage to get the job done. Whenever you feel like a casual night out, or you just want to stop somewhere for dinner on the way home, or if you're meeting up with some photographer or model friends, or just because you want to sit in the sun sipping some wine while writing a paper or your next book (looking at you hinchy!) then Romeo's is a good place to meet that need

Fantastic. George and Jimmy - what a fantastic restaurant they are running! Ive been going regularly for years, and will continue to do so.

The staff are excellent - on the ball, well trained, and rarely miss a beat.

The serving size is excellent. You just couldnt complain. You simply havent seen a salad until you see a Romeos salad! Awe inspiring...and its a salad!

Its excellent value. Not at all over priced when you see what you get, and high quality to boot.

Its a regular haunt for many people - and its not hard to see why.

Old school restaurant - big servers. I really love Romeo's... I've been a frequent dinner here for over 8 years.

The prices have steadily risen, hence the two $$'s, however mains are generally between $20-30 which isn't unusual I guess.

However what is unusual is that I've never had an entree! The main sizes are so big that an entree is never required.

I have recommended heaps of friends to visit Romeo's, once even having a birthday party there. The is food is amazing (I always go vegetables with fries, instead of the standard potato), the service is great, and the wine sizes in the Romeo's glass fantastic.... out door heating as well!

Enjoy
