Review +39 Pizzeria - Toorak

Amaya V
Wish I could give 10 stars ⭐️ this place rocks. The waitress was friendly and service super quick and brilliant. Tonight we had lasagna croquettes with passata, a vegetariana pizza and cannolo with orange flavoured ricotta, along with glasses of Shiraz. Every bite was delicious. The ambience was great. Only a tad bit cold for us. All in all a great place for authentic Italian in Toorak, Melbourne.

Good service and food came out in a timely manner. The pizza is great - good crust and decent amount of topping. Felt the pasta could be better - the pasta felt undercook, slightly too firm but the flavours were good.

What can I say? Carlo is an incredible chef and everyone at +39 makes you feel welcome. Great choice of dishes, beautifully prepared and presented. The pizza is next level! Warm and cosy environment and amazing quality of food. Highly recommended if you are looking for a nice Italian restaurant in the Toorak area.

Not my favourite pizza in the area, but still very good. The classic margarita is tasty, as is the vegetable pizza, although I think it could use a bit more cheese (I’m actually not sure if it had any). My order came with a free serve of garlic bread which looked plain but tasted so great. If you’re local, this is a great takeaway option

My local pizza go-to that I visit weekly before COVID. Amazing pizzas (and pastas). Great customer service. It can get really busy during peak times so maybe don't go when completely famished.

The Customer service is brilliant; everyone is helpful, very friendly, timely and professional. The quality of the food is amazing and authentic; it was like I was back in Turin. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Authentic Italian pizzeria! Love the simplicity of the food and vibe of the restuarant. Great place to meet up with friends.

1. Food: we order garlic bread, Parmigiana pizza and veal.the Quality of food was good.all were delicious but garlic bread was different from what we expected.or maybe it was wrong it didnt have any garlic. 2. Time: although it wasn't very busy but we waited long to get our order. 3. Staff: very friendly and nice 4.Price: we paid 85$for two beers and all food.we were satisfied. 5. Ambience: It was noisy but good one. And generally was normal.no music no especially decoration or design.

This is our first time to this place and we were very happy with all what we ordered. We had the half-metre pizza with 3 combo: mushroom, +39 and mortadella; and king salmon as a main. Quality toppings and very nice pizza base. We also had the dessert oreo cup cookie and tiramisu, both we really enjoyed. Definitely recommend this place.

Pizzas were sensational and service was very good. So glad it's not far from home. Best pizza in the area!

Moved to Melbourne about 2 months ago and so far this is hands down our favourite restaurant so far! The pizza is amazing, and the meat and cheese board is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten - had dreams about that truffled honey. Our regular for sure.

We love a good Italian place! We often come here when we crave for pizza or pasta!
We really enjoy their pizza - especially their +39 pizza!
Fior di latte, tomato salsa, berkshire sausage, mascarpone, gorgonzola cheese & prosciutto di parma

Also, the lobster linguine was delicious! However, I feel like it was quite hard having the shell still on - it can get quite messy!
House made linguine, half lobster, lobster bisque, sun dried tomatoes, zucchini, garlic, chilli, white wine, chives

The only thing is sometimes the pizza can be slightly runny in the middle, which is probably not ideal.

Space venue with a great non pretentious ambience. Food was delish, we had the mushroom pizza, salad, polenta chips and lamb ragu to share between 3 which was an abundance of food. Everything was absolutely delish. The Oreo cup for dessert was a bit random but otherwise can’t fault food and service 👍🏻

Nice large family restaurant central in toorak and near PTV. A nice ambience though it did get a little noisy as it got busier

Prosciutto and truffle pizza were delicious, however because of their thin base did get a little soggy throughout. But taste wise was great!

The risotto was perfect would definitely recommend with no faults.

The dishes are on abit on the pricy side for a family restaurant as such but still a great meal out

EDIT 31/7/19

My friend and I ordered in, I loved the pizza so much the last time I ordered I suggested we get a couple pizzas from +39 Pizzeria.

Unfortunately, the pizzas weren't that great. The margherita had barely any basil or topping and the cheese on both bases wasn't that enjoyable to eat. The sauces on both pizzas lacked in flavour too.

I don't like to leave negative reviews, however I do feel that this feedback may help to improve the pizza profiles next time.

ORIGINAL REVIEW 4.5

My partner and I ordered in a margherita pizza with added buffalo mozzarella, focaccia bread and a lasagne. We ordered via Delivaroo which did take some time, however it was a Saturday night so I can understand why.

The pizza was outstanding, all the ingredients used were spot on and the taste of the sauce was nice and basic but tasted great. The focaccia bread was lovely with rosemary, garlic and it was salty but in a delightful way. I was so full from the pizza that I could only manage a couple bites but I did enjoy what I tried. Now the lasagne... wow - incredible! Simple but good, tasted like nonna was out the back preparing it for us haha It wasn't overcomplicated by too much sauce, cheese or meat which I find some lasagnes can have.

Will most definitely order back from here or even better dine in, I recommend you do too! Sorry no pics of the focaccia as someone (cough cough - my partner) couldn't wait for me to take the pic haha

Pizza night with friends is my favourite idea of a Friday night dinner. 39pizzeria has some mouth watering appetizers with a unique selection of pizzas.

The truffle croquettes are out of this world. The cheese oozles and melts in your mouth beautifully. You'll thank me later. ;)

I had my ever-so-favourite Panacotta with extremely rich salted caramel. My taste buds are still reminiscing this gorgeousness.

Wouldn't recommend the Calamari though.

We went there with another couple for a simple and casual Italian meal, which turned out we hit the jackpot. Amazing pizzas and great Italian beers that you won't find elsewhere.
Service was excellent and really quick. We sat there, talking over 2 hours and no disruption.
Pretty satisfied, and I am looking forward to go there again

Although we only ordered one pizza and gnocchi, everything served was simply great!
We had the garlic and prawn pizza — prawn on pizza never worked so well. The tomatoes felt fresh, the melted cheese was wonderful and the dough itself tasted amazing, one of the best pizza I’ve had so far.
We also ordered a special menu which was gnocchi with braised duck, mushrooms and parsley. The gnocchi was fluffy but the duck itself was a tad too salty.
The service was top-notch, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and best of all, service was fast!
Definitely will come for a second time.
EatsOfMelbourneAus
Look at the size of those gnocchi 😍 Thanks for a real authentic Italian meal. Pizza and pasta have always been my go to, and you served up some delicious servings.

Sat at the bar to watch the action, right in front of the prosciutto (pictured). The oven is hot and the dough is excellent. Best pizza outside of Italy? They’ve given is a red hot go. The crust is just right, right amount of very fresh toppings (and if you had gone with prosciutto, a lot of it). Quick service and judging by the work In the open kitchen, well staffed and organised. Will definitely be back.

Just had my order delivered via Uber eats, pizza was average and the lasagna was absolutely woeful, I can’t even begin to mention the portion size, check the pics out, pathetic
Sig
It was ok, I’m not sure what all the carry on is about
We had a couple of pizzas that came out very soggy at the bottom, the schnitzel was burned and came with burned chips. I attempted the Tiramisu which had so much coffee soaking in it that it was bitter.
They’re in such a hurry to get the meals out and get you out that it wasn’t an enjoyable experience, every time we tried to have a conversation the wait staff were hovering around asking if everything was ok. If you want to eat and run, give it a go, if you want to have a nice relaxing night out, go somewhere else.

I like the store in CBD, no idea why the taste of pizza in toorak is not the same. And the chilli oil is not that spicy like CBD store. Potato funda and meat ball is good, always order them.

Decided to grab some pizza after visiting Prahran market and was not disappointing. I ordered the creamed truffle with mushroom pizza which was delish. Don’t be fooled by how it looks - it tasted amazing. My friend ordered the pepperoni pizza which was also very good. I love how the dough is both light and chewy. We also had the calamari for entree which was melt in your mouth amazing.
Would recommended 4/5 noms
Felix
Never disappoints. We love the antipasto platter - be sure to order with the special prosciutto washing line, looks and tastes fabulous. The pizzas are all amazing with thin bases. The radicchio salad with pear and walnuts is amazing. Prices are reasonable. The staff are all Italian and very attentive.
Good Food Good Mood
We visited in a group of 6 for dinner last night for exceptional food and service. We ordered the VIP for entree to share a slice each, the very Italian pizza, and the sweetness of the tomatoes had me wishing I had it all to myself. We also tried the calamari which was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.

Main wise I chose the parmigiana pizza and shared with a fellow diner who ordered the lamb ragu pasta. These were both excellent choices and very filling. I absolutely adored the delicious stracciatella on this. The value was only enhanced by the fact that it’s in the entertainment book (not the city location though). Couldn’t fault it

4.5
Was really impressed by both the pizza and pasta tonight at +39 Pizzeria in Toorak. We stuck to vegetarian pizzas trying the parmigiana pizza with eggplant, Italian salsa, and double delectable cheeses. The other vegetarian one was the VIP ( very Italian pizza) which was also well received.

I had the lamb ragu pasta while Kellie had a lightly sauced Morton bay bugs spaghetti dish with ultra tender seafood morsels. We both loved these dishes

The fried calamari came in two sizes and the large was huge.

Interesting that there was no arancini on the menu... normally our go to entree.

Service was good and our staff attentive and friendly.

We were too full to order dessert and passed up a Nutella pizza and some wonderful sounding desserts... next time.
Ralena
Really good pizza, and great service. The ambiance is very nice too. One of the few places you can actually have an authentic Italian pizza!

Poor service, food quality isn't great and it's a rip off - Pasta with oil for the kids $20!! There are many more restaurants in the area that are much better so avoid and don't come here!

Never knew +39 has a restaurant in Toorak until I saw the discount on Entertainment Book - 25% off the total bill. I’ve only been to the one in the city previously so straight away planned a Saturday night dinner here in Toorak. Firstly I attempted to book online but the first available time was 8:30pm which is too late for us, so I decided to call to book and they gave us 7:30pm. Yay.

3 of us arrived at 7:25pm. The atmosphere is similar to the city one - loud and busy. The restaurant itself is bigger so it’s not as crowded. We sat at the bar for 5min to wait for them to clean up the table. At 7:30pm exactly we got seated at a 4 people table.

We ordered 4 dishes to share - Rocket Salad, Lobster Linguine, Cured Meat Platter and Mushroom and Truffle Pizza with Pancetta. More than enough food for 3 people. We liked the presentation of the hanging cured meat. It was the wow factor for the table. The lobster in the linguine was fresh but the linguine itself was just average. Pizza was tasty. Next time I want to try their tomato base pizza. Total bill was $105 and with entertainment book, it was discounted to $78. Overall the food was nice and we would definitely come back again.

I ordered parmigiana pizza and was unsure of eating eggplant on pizza but it turned out to be delicious. Pizzas are huge and very filling. I think this is a great place for family gathering and celebrations. Service is quick too.
Ramieleatsshootsandleaves
Really loved their salted caramel cookies n cream gelato! Some hit and misses with their dishes -
the lasagna was burnt and sauce too salty and thick, really enjoyed their mushroom and signature pizza, but the carbonara was gluggy...
Overall a good place for groups to share plates

I walk past this restaurant every day on my way to and from work, and thought I’d suggest it for a Monday night catchup. We were not disappointed, the atmosphere was lively but peaceful enough to have a good quiet conversation, unlike many nearby chapel street restraints which get very loud and hard to hear.

The food was great! We ordered the porcini risotto, very creamy and smooth, and the lamb paradelle, which my friend claims was very filling and delicious!

I highly recommend for a great little Italian feed!
Jennifer
Great customer service and very delicious, authentic Italian pizzas. I will never get sick of going back to this amazing place! Orders come out pretty quickly too and they’re all top quality 😊

Ordered through Deliveroo on Saturday night. The pizza was tasty. We ordered the mushroom truffle oil pizza + some garlic bread. My husband and I have been having a severe tummy ache since consuming the food. Feeling extremely bloated and gassy. The pizzas had too much yeast and has given us a feeling of uneasiness. I don't think the ratings and hype is justified.

On 8th July 2018 - My boyfriend and I decided to visit +39 Pizzaria in Toorak. Before entering I saw a whole bunch of customers waving at workers from the outside before they came into the restaurant. I thought they must be regulars. You don’t get that everyday. I’ve never seen that happen before. It gave me a good vibe already. Impressive!

Stephanie greeted us and let us choose where we decided to sit. She then showed us the food and drinks menus and gave us a good amount of time to decide what we wanted to eat. She ensured everything was perfect for us both, which was nice.

David got Chicken Schnitzel - Crumbed chicken breast, rocket, sun-dried tomatoes, shaved parmesan cheese, rustic potatoes - rosemary ricotta salt, E.V.O and with a Coke zero.

Originally I decided on Parmigiana - Italian tomato salsa, for di latte, grilled eggplant, parmesan, fresh basil, stracciatella cheese.

Then I spoke to Stephanie about the +39 - Italian tomato salsa, fior di latte, berkshire sausage, gorgonzola cheese, prosciutto di parma, mascapone cheese. She told me she liked both, but preferred the second choice more. So I went with that instead.

I also ordered a Virgin daiquiri ice tea - Orange blossom.
We also grabbed Focaccia bread - Garlic bread the italian way, best w/ our stendino! garlic oil, sea salt and rosemary and prosciutto di parma.

Stephanie offered us garlic oil as well.

For dessert I had - Salted caramel pannacotta - Luscious vanilla pannacotta topped with salted caramel and toasted almonds. I didn’t want it to end so soon. :( Sadly it eventually ran out. That panacotta was the best!!

I was really happy with the layout of the restaurant because I previously used to go to the +39 Pizzaria in the city on Little Bourke street.
However, it was my first time to this newer location in Toorak. It wasn’t squishy or packed and loud. Customers in the restaurant seemed quite happy with their family and friends to enjoy good food, drinks and dessert. It was easy to have a conversation with each other without a problem, which was nice.

Overall a friendly staff members, really tidy restaurant, clean, spacious, welcoming and easy to find parking, which can be found in front or across the road.

How convenient!

Stephanie provided great customer service, she was so helpful, efficient, attentive always polite and open with her ideas in terms of food selection.

She even told me they cut their prosciutto into thin slices to make it tastes less salty. If cut into thick slices or cooked then it becomes more saltier. I thought +39 pizza tasted great. You just might need some family and friends to help you finish all the food though ;)

Food was delicious, unforgettable and so glad we found this gem. I felt like I was in Italy when eating their food, although the prices may seem high for some people. It was worth every cent to us both.

Since my dessert was SO GOOD!! I decided to get a take way for my sister, so she would know how perfect it tasted.
We were both happy with our selections. The portion sizes are delicious, generous, massive, filling and even better they are happy to help you with the take away as well.
Towards the end Marta helped me finalise my payment and she told me she used to work at the other +39 Pizzaria and then I told her. I was thinking you had a familiar face. I told my boyfriend I remember her because she was always so friendly, helpful and smiled at customers as well. Outstanding. It’s a small world!

We would definitely be happy to visit +39 Pizzaria in Toorak again.

Thank you +39 Pizzaria. You did an amazing job and we will see you again soon! :)

Definitely the best Italian I’ve ever had in Melbourne - including Carlton!! Every taste was a sensation, and exceptional quality. Will definitely be back!!

Fantastic food here. Pizza bases were delicious and crispy, and toppings were amazing. My calzone was one of the best I’ve had. Can’t wait to return

This place is simply bursting with excellence, from the delicious pizzas to the fantastic selection of appetisers, you cannot make a bad choice. The restaurant also caters for large groups so it was nice to be able to dine as a group of 8 without a worry. The excellent food is reflective of the staff and atmosphere of the restaurant, simply faultless.

We had lunch for my birthday over the weekend and it was amazing! The food was delicious and authentic Italian! Staff were very welcoming and patient with us as we were a large table with many kids running around. Everyone at the table enjoyed their pizzas pastas risotto and desserts. 5 stars all round! Highly recommend!

Father forgive me for I have sinned. For years I was a non-believer, but on this beautiful Easter Sunday, 2018 years after the resurrection of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ, I had the life-changing experience of witnessing a miracle of equal miracularity as the return of Jesus, and the Virgin Birth.

The pizza at +39 Pizzeria was a piece of culinary art.. Each ingredient dancing so beautifully with the next, a symphony of flavours so perfect, so deliberately designed that it could only be described as immaculately conceived... Richard Dawkins' book The God Delusion brainwashed me into atheism with logical and substantiated arguments, supported by hypotheses and proofs predicated upon contradictory statements around omniscience, omnipotence and the design of the cosmos but I can see now that all that was just fluffy bullshit and I offer a foolproof counterargument in the form of a question to all atheists: "If God doesn't exist then who tf made this pizza?" >> Proof by contradiction Q.E.D

You could argue that God, in all His almighty wisdom, could not have calculated the exact values of such constants as Pi and Euler's number in His design of our universe but I'm just saying that there is no fkn way a mere mortal cooked this pizza (it's even more miraculous because it was an open kitchen so where was He hiding idk)

Oh and the Beef Ragu, Holy fk that stuff was good. After eating the body of Christ (Pizza) and drinking the blood of Christ (Wine [If Jesus bled I'm sure he would bleed Barolo or Barbaresco]) I really didn't think there was anything else to eat but the Beef Ragu pleasantly surprised me much like Virgin Mary must have been when she got preggaz. I don't usually like Ragu pastas but this was just other-worldly.. I think what balanced it out was the little morsels of Bocconcini which garnished the dish. So beautiful, white and creamy that I am convinced it is the last secretion of Christ (not unlike the body and blood which is more commonly consumed, but a less fabled secretion not so well understood by theologists and Christian historians alike because it was never really recorded anywhere.. I mean if you have a virgin birth you don't really need this secretion if you know what I mean haha)

Oh my lord I'm still so foodcoma from that meal but thank you +39 Pizzeria for reigniting my faith in God. That first bite of pizza baptised tf out of me. I was with my friend and she didn't finish the crusts of the pizza so I'm pretty sure she's still a non-believer bless her soul but I think she liked the food as well.

Order the mushroom truffle pizza! That was very memorable. I thought the seafood pasta (in the specials menu) was pretty good, with generous amounts of crab! I would recommend the cheese platter: it is yummy! The only downside is that prices here are pretty steep compared to other neighbourhood pizzerias.

very hot night in Melbourne and we decided to go a +39. We did not have a booking but we show up around 8pm for dinner lucky for us was available a table for 2. Polenta chips are really nice and for mains we got 2 special risotto really good. Great atmosphere.

Went here with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. To start I understand that this is a busy day however in saying that the restaurant should prepare for this and place adequate staff on to manage the restaurant. We got there and were seated on a cute table with a rose. It took 15 minutes for someone to come and pour us some water. The waitress immediately walked away without asking if I’d like to order a drink. We waited another 15 minutes and I asked another waitress “can we order” to which she replied “il go and get your server.” The waiter comes over and I order a wine and decide to also order our food. It took 40 minutes for my wine to be brought to the table and at this point I actually had to ask the waitress where it was. Super disappointed. The food came out roughly 40 minutes after ordering but was delicious. We ordered the antipasti platter with prosciutto, the lamb ragu pasta and a pizza. The pasta was absolutely to die for I would highly recommend it, it was cooked to perfect !! Once we finished eating I again had to ask to get my pizza in a take away box as no one came to our table (mind you by this time it was 10pm and the restaurant was half dead). We went to pay and they over charged us with extra drinks on the bill we didn’t order but they happily fixed this!
Overall great food (a bit pricy) but service is lacking ! If it wasn’t for the delicious pasta would have scored it a 2.5
For a $100 meal I expect better service :)
Charlesbush1957
Got a serve of gnocchi and one of pasta ragu as takeaway. Food was pleasant enough but certainly not spectacular and the gnocchi was barely warm. Serving size was barely enough to feed a mouse. Wont be going back again. Many other better eateries in Hawksburn

New kid on the block

Been past a few times finally got to sample some tasty delights

Polenta chips - slightly undercooked
Calamari - perfection
Zucchini flowers - yum the ricotta sauce with peas was heaven

Pizzas - porcini - yum
And
The pizza parmigiana - yum yum

Mains - special of the day home made spaghetti with medley of seafood in a Napoli sauce - a real disappointment - hardly any seafood - at $40 real let down.

Probably go back just for Pizza

Toodles

Just had a really great dinner at the Tooraq +39 pizzeria. The special seafood was amazing.
Definitely try it.
The pasta was house made and cooked perfectly.

Great food and service, i had the crab pasta and it was amazing, crab was perfectly cooked. A friend had the ragout and loved it. I will definitely be back.

My partner and I came on a Monday night after work. We liked the decor and the service was fantastic. 6/5! They helped us match the wine to our food and the cured meats platter was fantastic. 5/5

I ordered the duck bolognaise and my partner had the lasagne. It was nice but my bolognaise was a bit oily but I can't say that the was entirely the restaurant's fault as I do understand that duck can be fatty anyway. My partner said his was a tiny bit dry but certainly not inediable.

This place is great for families and the staff (again) are so friendly. :)
Quick (seated and served in a flash), Margherita and Calamari, good portions and taste, friendly and smiling staff (Marta)! Loved the Gianduiotto at the end!

First time dining at +39 Pizzeria and was quite impressed. Traditional Italian style pizzas here with slight twist on your usual toppings, mushroom pizza with the truffle oil was excellent. Other dishes ordered were the lasagne and Prosciutto croquettes, both of which were delicious. Overall, good Italian food backed up with equally good service, definitely be returning soon.

This place is AMAZING! Freshly sliced prosciutto, authentic buffalo mozzarella and delicious Aperol spritz! Hubby and I love it! The staff are brilliant and so good with our 2 yr old who loves their papadelle ragu!

Absolutely sensational Pizza. Surprising, Tantalising & Delicious. The food here is simple yet surprisingly spectacular. We were blown away.

Actually the nicest pizza I've ever ever had and I've had great pizzas in Italy and Paris. I had the mushroom pizza with added pancetta and ordered it through foodora.

Everything had amazing flavour. The crust was tasty and crunchy and they were generous with the toppings. Couldn't have been happier (if that wasn't obvious)
C Saw Food&Drink
This place always has really friendly service, and there are quite a few gf options which is appealing. The pizza toppings are a bit different, generally I've liked them. The acoustics in the restaurant is terrible and really off putting, so probably won't be back in a hurry because of it.
Eating Sushi
Food (8/10): I ordered UberEats and got the mushroom pizza which was so amazing I had to dine in. When I dined in for the first time, I found the pizzas extremely salty. We ordered +39 pizza and the Capricosa. Even the dough itself was incredibly salty, so I was disappointed with the visit. Gave it another try and we ordered the mushroom pizza and pepperoni pizza which were wonderful. We also had the polenta chips which I wasn't a massive fan of as I found it dry (but I think that's just how polenta chips taste like).

Service (7/10): service is quick when not busy but on peak days it was okay. Staff are very friendly and accomodating.

Ambience (5/10): interior looks pretty plain and could do with a renovation to improve the ambience.

Verdict: The mushroom pizza is a must to order. Pizza quality was inconsistent the couple times I visited but hopefully that was a one off. I would definitely come here again to try out their pasta dishes too.
Amelia MM
The mushroom pizza is the best! Large place but always bustling. Definitely, recommend the nutella pizza for desert. a great place to go with a big group of people, usually can always book a table. Friendly staff, check it out.
Hithere
The food is good. A bit overpriced, especially the dessert. Pizza is nice, and a bit too burnt at the bottom though.

The waiters area bit phlegmatic. There is a lack of passion. To say "buonasera" and "grazie ed arrivederci" is not cutting it.

Overall is a good pizzeria. Bring up the passion and bring down the price a little...
Chloe Seah
Decided to visit +39 Pizzeria for my birthday.. there were 4 of us so we decided to order to share.. We ordered the Polenta Chips & Brussel Sprouts as appetisers which were good..

For our mains, we had the V.I.P pizza and blue swimmer crab spaghetti which were both average.. Eating the crab was rather messy. We'd prefer if the crab meats were out of the shells..

We ordered the ravioli prosciutto & mascarpone as well and this dish was simply amazing! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Overall my experience was great! Was seated right away and did not have to wait long for the foods to be served. Definitely coming back for more!
Craig
Pizza came fast and was delicious - each topping was easily distinguishable and the size is decent for the price. Atmosphere was busy, bustling and pleasant, staff were attentive and friendly. The only criticism was that the beer could have been colder; would return.

I hosted my 21st at +39 Pizzeria with about 30 or so friends. The staff were accomodating and patient, and did a wonderful job of ensuring the night ran smoothly. The antipasto and mains were delicious!

I absolutely love pizza and these guys do a very fine job on their pizzas. Crusty and full of flavour every time. Very much looking forward to next time.

I went to +39 for my birthday and service and food was fantastic. The ambience was a big mood lifter, and the staff too. They were kind to give us a dessert on the house with a cute birthday sing song. The portions too are really good.

Recommend the Spicy Cod Marinara Pasta and the +39 pizza.

Review from January 2017
In 2016 the CBD's +39 Pizzeria opened a sister restaurant in Toorak. Same great food, just with more designer dogs out front. 🐩 I'd had my eye on their blue swimmer crab spaghetti for a while: the spaghetti's tossed with garlic, chili napoli sauce, cherry tomatoes, crayfish bisque and parsley, and served inside a super succulent crab. Well worth the mess!
Adhya
One of the best authentic Italian flavour I ever tasted. Polenta chips is crunchy, delicious and has a great texture. Rocket salad and Radicchio salad are beautiful, light, clean, fresh and delicious. Thin and crisp pizza base with less is more topping but full flavour. I tasted Tartufata and VIP both are just melt in my mouth beautifully. Black ink pasta also scrumptious and the salted caramel pannacota is just to die for. Great ambience, great staffs and definitely will be back.
@twogoodtoresist
About the closest you'll get to authentic Italian food outside of Italy! The pizza is delicious! We love the four cheese, the mushroom and the eggplant! The pasta and entree boards are fantastic too! And if you have room- make sure you order the Nutella pizza for dessert!
Kullanat Kya Arr
Been there for the first time, really impressed with all foods. We ordered blue swimmer crab spaghetti, lasagna, VIP pizza and spicy salami pizza. Foods are really good, fresh ingredients served by friendly staffs which made us feel comfy and relaxing.
If you like a mixture of Asian inspiration into this Italian food, the crab spaghetti is strongly recommended👍🏻👍🏻 also all of desserts are over the moon👑MUST TRY!!!
Jean
Great authentic food and amazing service. The wait staff is attentive without being intrusive when having conversations with your friends and are very knowledgeable when making recommendations from the menu. The food is also great, authentic Italian pizzas with great flavours and spins on favourites. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately this is yet another place that is charging astronomical prices for average food. I understand that the rent there must be high but 28 bucks for a pizza with barely any toppings - come on.

The calamari rings with cucumber fritter was disappointing as it was nearly $15 for what you'd expect to pay maybe $3-4 anywhere. Maybe 8 tiny skinny rings covered in batter with a pile of cucumber shavings covered in the same batter. Mind you they do put a big pile of grease paper to make it look like you're getting a serving that looks like it might fit the price tag - feels more like a scam really.

Won't be back.

Great place that serves traditional Italian pizzas and beautiful pastas. The service is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. When I asked if a dish that I ordered could be a little less spicy, I was given a sample to taste to make sure that it was ok. Great food, great prices, great service. It is becoming a family favourite!

The second time here and it didn't disappoint! The pizza bases are crispy and the pasta is fresh. The only criticism is the lack a Calamari in the Calamari D'Amalfi. The rest was fantastic.

Since the review below I have had dinner 3 times and radically changed my opinion. +39 shines, sunny staff, scrumptious food and a happy vibe. Well done.

This venue has recently opened for weekend brekky. The cavernous space was a lonely place and the menu interesting. I chose baked eggs with meatballs pancetta and mushrooms. It was a pretty tasteless combination sadly and with so much competition it will need to smarten up.

A great wood fire pizza with a delicious thin base and ample toppings. Attentive service and reasonable prices have made this our favourite new pizza place.

Squid ink seafood pasta and delicious pizza was consumed by me here! No regrets on the carbs it was tasty as ever 😍
And they make the food in front of you which is even better. Staff were gorgeous as well! Would not rave on about the pizza, was a standard Wood fire pizza but can not complain... i still finished it all

Melbourne, please you gotta stop scoring low when it's not the case. I am Italian myself (the real deal) and this restaurant is authentic. So, if you are after a thick meatlovers pizza with pineapple don't walk in +39. I have order a Pizza Diavola con Olive Nere and it was as a good, real Italian pizza should be, delicious and well priced ($18). My friend had an Insalata di Pollo and he was satisfied with his meal ($15). The ambience was really warm and the Italian boys made me feel like I was back home. Grazie ragazzi, alla prossima!

Overall, +39 is pretty good. I don't know if it's just the pizza places I tend to go to to but it feels like +39, like every authentic pizza place, has all the same things going on: 25 year old Italian waiters:check. Pizza with no real meat on it:check and $60 spent on a pizza and two drinks:check.
Whilst the food was good I just think it doesn't stand out from any of the other 'authentic' pizzerias.
Call me old school, or maybe lower class, but if
I'm getting pizza, give me plenty of calories, cheese and guilt from eating.

Got back from Milan a week ago after tasting some authentic Italian food, and since then, we've been looking a good place that can replicate that experience. +39 delivered. The pizza is not the over the top topping like the franchises, and I believe my hazelnut cake was baked on order (or close to it!).

Definitely heading back for more, and at a very reasonable price too!

As expected, the pizzas here are the real Italian deal - authentic pizzas, beautiful light bases and a range of delicious, cheesy toppings! If authentic pizza is what you're after, this is the place to go. The pizzas are the perfect size for one hungry person, but tonight we chose to share. The pastas are also beautifully made - we had a lot of fun dealing with the crab in the blue spanner crab gnocchi which was excellent in itself. The drinks menu has a lot on offer too, including Italian iced tea and everyone's favourite san pellegrino fruit beverages and even sicilian blood red orange juice! With its spacious interior, +39 Pizzeria is a great place for large groups - they were able to accommodate our group of 10. Surprisingly, Saturday night was not as busy as we had anticipated and we were able to stay for longer than our allocated 2 hours to enjoy some dessert. Would highly recommend the salted caramel pannacotta - very light and refreshing after all those carbs! Unfortunately I felt the service tonight let down our overall experience - at time staff were a little aloof and not quite exuding the hospitality expected from your local pizzeria (but perhaps it was just a one-off.)

Very nice food very good service the meatballs entree and the calamari entree were delicious the crab gnocchi was also very tasty but there was not a lot of crab and you had to break open the crab claws yourself however the service and environment was great and some of the pizzas I saw coming out looked amazing a very authentic Italian restaurant cafe

🍝🍕🍕🍝
I love pizza, I love pasta, I love crab and +39 Pizzeria has it all. The vibes and atmosphere were really nice, tables were full but it wasn't too busy. The dishes we had were all of a really high standard.
We had the 'Crudaiola pizza' with hand torn buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, rocket and parmesan. Crispy polenta chips with a cheese sauce and finally Blue Swimmer Crab. Which were all impossible to fault.
I would definitely come back

A sight to behold, the antipasto and cheese spread was both a delightful feast for the eyes (and my camera!) and more importantly, the taste buds. Their selection of cheeses and cured meats highlighted the impeccable quality of their produce and ingredients.

+39 Pizzeria celebrates the Italian way by embracing the joy of sharing locally sourced, fresh produce together with family and friends. The heart of Italian cuisine and culture is at the core of +39 Pizzeria, with every dish on the menu created using traditional flavours and techniques that have been brought over from Italy, handed down through generations of Nonna’s and Nonno’s to be recreated right here in Melbourne, Australia’s food capital.

One of the better pizza joints I've been to in a while with service to boot! had a big group of 15 and all were more than satisfied. Well maybe not the hazel nut cake. It was a bit dry. But everything else was amazing. We all started to share each other's food after exchanging numerous inaudible sounds of "yum!! Oh u gotta try this!!" Favs were the blue swimmer crab gnocci, +39 pizza, squid ink pasta and side salads!! we are definitely returning. We were also tempted with the truffle but thought against it to save the opulence for the desert!! Nutella pizza!!! not rich in $$ but plenty of nutella!! haha

I'm not a giant fan of pizza and pasta. But I came for the blue swimmer crab gnocchi, and it didn't disappoint - gnochhi was pillowy soft. Polenta chips were also good. The antipasti 'lo stendino' was my favourite for the night though - great selection of meats cheese and honey. Surprisingly very full after this.

+39 Pizzeria is absolutely delectable, delicious & scrumptious - Pizza definitely worth eating carbs for. . I visited the Toorak branch on Mother's day and my interstate guests were surely impressed, the pizza was tasty, the base was just perfecto, nothing i've tasted before. . The restaurant itself was very spacious on the main shopping/restaurant strip of Toorak and the service was friendly and efficient, you can feel the Italian authenticity here.

Enjoyed a scrumptious dinner on a saturday night with friends. Food was delectable starting with an antipasto board with a hanging line of cured meats and a selection of cheeses, condiments and focaccia bread
Mains were pasta three ways .the standout dish was the gnocchi with blue swimmer crab finished with a spicy pizza full of flavour and dessert pizza that showcased nutella at its best. Service was efficient extremely friendly and professional. Although a little loud the ambience is industrial like ,comfortable yet regreshingly modern . Will definitely be returning

Perfecto Italiano food. So impressed by this place, the most SCRUMPTIOUS, delicious pizza i have had in Melbourne and Sydney. We tried the white base and the tomato base pizza and they both we're sooooo delicious. Went to the south yarra/toorak one as i assumed the city one was booked out, it was very spacious and the service was friendly and efficient. Chose the 'Tartufata pizza with added pancetta'- thats the white based pizza which was full of flavour! You can really taste the garlic and mushroom. The second pizza we chose was the 'Cappriossa Italiana pizza with added anchovies', this pizza was unbelievably good! The base was amazing, and every bite was worth the carbs! Drizzle the pizzas with chilli oil for the added oomph! Also tried the squid ink linguini pasta- 'linguini alla vesuviana' which was pretty tasty as ive never had squid ink pasta before. Nice dish, not so heavy!
Will definately be back!
Went here on a Friday night with a few friends. Highly recommended for the pizzas (delicious with a thin base) and atmosphere. I looked across at the table next to me and saw the pasta... Definitely coming back to try it.

Pretty perfect pizza. +39 is the prefix for calls to Italy and the destination for authentic Italian pizza and pasta. The city store has long been successful, and just a few weeks ago the franchise came south side to Hawksburn Village to replicate the hype.

Replacing Valentino, a Sicilian spot which lasted around a year, +39 Toorak has already pulled in the crowds. My family and l dropped past for an early weekend dinner, at 5.15pm, which was deserted, but quickly filled with young families and party groups.

We sampled quite a lot of the menu and everything was fantastic. Lovely prosecco with proscuitto, focaccia and lightly fried calamari and zucchini. These were so good we ordered a second serve, together with the 'stendino' - a tiny washing line-like platter with yummy mortadella hanging like laundry. This was surrounded by other delicious smallgoods and pickles plus a cruet of luscious truffled honey.

We shared the capricciosa pizza with artichoke hearts and anchovies, and the autunno (autumn) pizza with porcini mushrooms & drenched in delicious cheese. The crispy bases were light yet strong - and not at all greasy. The squid ink pasta with seafood was inhaled appreciatively - l didn't even get a bite! So full after all this fab food, we shared one small dessert - a heavenly hazelnut tortina della nonna with creamy vanilla custard. With beers (specialty brews on tap) and a lovely red wine from Puglia, plus tea and coffee, dinner was $324 before tip.

Service was sensational. Friendly, attentive, charming - all recent arrivals from northern Italy with impeccable English. Even when it became very busy (and admittedly a bit noisy), the service didn't falter.

+100 votes from me and my family - including some fussy food fans!

Yum. Yum. Yum. I've been a big fan of the +39 in the city for some time, so I was delighted when I heard that one was opening up in my neighborhood.

We enjoyed a casual mid week dinner during their third week.

The experience was consistent with the city restaurant i.e. authentic pizzas
& great service.

Absolutely delicious. Let the carb loading begin.

Great atmosphere with an authentic Italian service. Place is much more spacious than the city one, perfect for families and big groups. Definitely worth a visit!

Edit! 5/5 on 2nd Visit!

This time we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine and was met with impeccable service.

We had a few Vinos and they've got a terrific list to choose from (white is our poison) and all were robust and perfect for the cuisine.

The polenta chips - crunchy and delicious with a blue cheese fondue dip - the meatballs were like my granny used to make and full of meaty bliss.

The lasagne was the best one we've had in Toorak and you could taste the quality. A divine meal. Many of the teething problems are gone such as the 7/11 bright lights at the start and it's very subdue and chilled inside.

Lovely staff and great to have another local to head to !

After Valentino's closed I was heartbroken - best Italian fare in the area and now this place is here - well it will do ok (always full!!)

Venue is nice, very modern and fresh but my god it's loud. It's like a party and you're screaming across the table to your dinner date. Menu reads well but a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Polenta chips were good but no salt and no pepper or salt on the table and had to ask. Service was very attentive - felt "All Italian" so a few language barriers.

The cheese pizza and salumi was full of cheese. But too much cheese. Yeah I know it's a cheese pizza but it was congealed. Salumi was amazing though.

Good little wine list and all by the glass too. Nice Italian wines available and had a few cocktails too. A great place for a gathering (if you like it loud)

Will be back on a weeknight to try a few more things!
Coffee And Food Enthusiast.
Although we did enjoy our meals, the price wasn't on par with our enjoyment. I'm happy to pay $70 for two pastas, garlic bread and 1 wine... it was good, but not $70 good. I'd go back for a pizza based on my experiences with the pizza at the +39 in the city. Service was friendly. Atmosphere will get better with time, with the futon being new it lacked a bit of personality... The character will come with more ornaments over time.

My housemates and I came here on a Saturday night for dinner, and I must say, it was fantastic !!very attentive service, great wine (and spritz) also! We ordered a cheese antipasto plate - can I just say the truffle honey is to die for! And we had the lasagne and a pizza to...

Finally a true Italian restaurant in Toorak! We ordered fresh pasta with lamb ragu', tagliatelle with mushroom and truffle and tomato meatballs - just mouth watering. I've been to a few places in the area and so far this is the one that reminds me the most of Italy. Highly Recommended! Sincerely,
Some very happy customers.
