Funkies is a nice place located in Toorak village and can serve you amazing cafe food in a very affordable price.
I liked trying them out 💕
This is my local go to and between the great friendly staff, great prices and unpretentious setting - it is unlikely to change. I recommend the Bacon & Egg special, foccacias and chicken burger for great simple taste and generous serving sizes.
Excellent coffe, delicious , well priced food and a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service , an institution in Toorak Village.
I love the funkies breakfast or the freshly baked croissants with jam or ham and cheese or the canadian breakfast.
Do yourself a favour try it today , you never know you may enjoy eating here
Enjoyable fresh sandwiches perfect for quick & inexpensive lunch or breakfast.
Good fast service.
Licensed to serve wine/beer.
I'll return...
It seemed that I was the only non regular at breakfast. So I ordered big, poached eggs, bacon, spinach and mushrooms with toast. And it was terrific and generous. My only whinge were that the eggs tasted of the vinigar solution in which they were cooked.
This place has been an icon in the middle of "The Village" since the day dot! Ok it may not appeal to everyone...the decor looks a little tired and it caters more for the older locals but hey they should know value for money!! I can assure you you will get friendly, quick service and a decent feed for a very reasonable price....more than I can say for a lot of the other cafes around!!! We come here at least a couple of times a week, my husband would happily live here! The breakfasts are big, tasty and cheap and they have no problem catering for special requests...coffee is great and lots of yummy desserts too! Lots of people bring their pooches too as there are half a dozen tables undercover out the front as well...Ohhh and I almost forgot to mention that they do a yummy traditional Sunday roast too...and you have lots of room to read the newspapers too! Just go... 😁
THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE PANCAKES!!!!! - Light, fluffy, the right bounce and they taste delish!!!!
Chicken and mushroom pasta was also a hit with the table.
Great non pushy waitstaff who are attentive without annoying you. First time here and very impressed :)
Funkies is one of those places the silver haired Toorak folk go amongst the young ones like myself. Steve's Omelette is perfect and the french toast good too. Very 90's feel inside and good seating outside (but a lot of smokers!) Very cheap for the area and better than a lot of the options around!
We have been coming to Funkies for years for nice coffee and the best value bacon and eggs in town. The service is always friendly.
Good hearty breakfast! Been here a few times and for the prices you pay for food it's a great feed!
Had nice coffees here and friendly service. They have a great selection of newspapers to read while having your coffee!
Best schnitzel sanga. Always come back to get one!
Reviews talking about pensioners aren't necessarily wrong, however, this is honestly one of the nicest places for me to take older family members (including those with accessibility issues). The staff is very patient and accommodating (for example, this is the only café in Toorak village that we've been to that hasn't had an issue with us asking for food to be cut up prior to serving) and there is so much space that I never have to worry about waiting for a table. I've come here consistently at least several times a month for about a year now and haven't had any issues with the quality of the food or the service. I often also see families with young children come here too.
great coffee and great people working there
the best spaggetti marinara i have had in the past 50 odd years, and very reasonably priced, i got takeaway as we are in lock down here in Melbourne for 6 weeks.
A great local cafe for brunch or lunch. Nice vibe! It can get a bit noisy as groups of locals often gather on Sunday mornings. Very good place for families. Comfy chairs and larger well spaced table add nicely to the old-fashioned feel. Servings are generous and prices are moderate.
The menu is extensive but I recommend a Funkies Breakfast for brunch, a Minute Steak (add a Greek salad and eat only half the fries) or a Caesar Salad with/without chicken (a big meal) for lunch. Add a mug of coffee.
Remember to grab a newspaper from Woolies or the Village newsagent. Park in the nearby Woolworths car park, free for 1.5 hours.
Plenty brekkie choices on the menu, attentive staff. Prices are cheap and surprisingly the meals are not compromised. Had the vegetarian omelette which was nice and tasty and hot. Hubby had funkies breakfast also ample and tasty. Coffees were nice. Highly recommend funkies.
