Review Maze - Toorak

Girlfriend and I went here last weekend and the food absolutely blew us away. The wings were super spicy and really flavoursome. The Aubergine was incredibly soft and just melted in your mouth. The steak was cooked to perfection and the veggies with it were beautiful. The wait staff were also extremely friendly and accommodating. Have been recommending this place to everyone. Love it!

This place is simply amazing!!!! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I walked in for Sunday night dinner with my partner and we had a wonderful time there and food was fantastic. Thank you and will be back soon!

A nice warm atmosphere, with matching service. Good coffee to start, however the real winner was the food! I ordered what I thought was a basic eggs florentine... Oh how wrong I was, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the muffins were nice a crunchy and the flavours in the hollendaise sauce... I was actually surprised at how good it was, if they can do that to a ‘basic’ breakfast, well I can’t wait to try a dinner there.

Maze on Toorak is one of the best places I've visited in a long time. Came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon to be greeted with a big smile. The food was refreshing, tasty, well presented and in great portions. Most of all the coffee was on point. We were greeted by the owner Dulanga himself who has a keen eye for detail. The staff was very polite and gave first class service.

Fifty stars to you, for deciding to not use plastic straws any more, after I made a passing comment. The service and food are great, however the ethics are sensational. Highly recommend! And I will also recommend them on my environmental posts. X

Went for dinner today. Food was very delicious. Service was out of expectation, very excellent. Nice and friendly staff, kept checking if the food was ok and if we were happy with everything. Staffs were with smiles on their face. Very satisfied.

Lovely decor, a bit quiet for my liking. Had lunch and coffee, i think the portion size was a bit small for the price, but delicious all the same. An idea place if you want a quiet place to talk

Just had a terrible experience here. Asked for a plain croissant and flat white. Charged 6.00 for the croissant, went thru in detail that I wanted it plain, no butter, no jam, asked if i wanted it heated up and I said definately not, just grab it and put it on a plate and I am happy. Out comes the croissant, heated up, I pointed this out and the waiter said its only because its been under lights, so I said why not just give me one from the counter, which he did. It was then clear why he gave the warmed up one, it was stale. Why not be brave and just say they are not fresh and give me the choice I was overcharged and scammed. I left feeling very poorly served.

Had lunch recently with some girlfriends. Atmosphere was great and lovely open windows to Toorak Road. We had the smoked salmon bruschetta and a selection of tapas, all were very nice. Staff were friendly although service was a little slow, probably needed another staff member. Will definitely be back to try some more.

Nice ambiance, kid friendly and the staff are Uber friendly as well. Food was just the right size, and delicious, definitely try Dula’s special that comes with poached eggs, avo, feta, tomato salsa. Will be back for more

Not a great experience at Maze. The staff were very apologetic but the service was incredibly slow and distracted and the food was quite overpriced for what you received. For $19 I got a single mushroom and two poached eggs. And the side of bacon I ordered was raw when it finally got to the table. We were told that they were understaffed so maybe it would be better on another occasion.

> Maze breaky with dukkha spiced bread, beef sausage, Kalamata olives, feta, fried eggs, tomato and herb salsa AND Granola with raspberry infused granola, almond flakes, coconut shavings, fresh seasonal berries + vanilla pana cotta AND Duchess of Toorak- French toast with mascarpone + honey cream, white chocolate shards, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce + walnuts <

Maze is a new café on the growing Toorak café scene. With Grange road egg shop, Manhattan café, monkey bean and many more cafes located just metres away, Maze had a challenge to step up to their level. Effortlessly, they did exactly that. The quality of the food is incredible, the presentation is beautiful, and the flavours are strong. The staff are really friendly and are very helpful in helping you decide what to order.

The Maze breaky was massive. It is a twist on the standard big breakfast, as it has a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern theme. The bread was packed with flavour and the feta worked nicely with this combination. The fried egg was perfect to add an extra element and make the dish more substantial. The tomato and herb salsa was great to put on top of the bread and combine all the flavours into a mini sandwich. The beef sausage was nice and smoky and really brought a lot of flavour to the dish.

The granola was super sweet and really enjoyable to eat. It was not too crunchy and the milk poured over the top helped to soften the crunch even more. The pana cotta had a really nice vanilla flavour, which complemented the sweetness of the granola. The fresh berries added a nice refreshing element to the dish, as well as extra flavour.

The French toast was seriously incredible. They were super thick but really fluffy. The mascarpone was not too sweet, which was perfect to even out the sweetness of the French toast. The vanilla ice cream was perfect to melt into the French toast and make it a little soggy and more enjoyable to eat. The caramel sauce was really rich and worked perfectly with the entire meal. Overall, this was probably the best dish out of the 3 that we ordered, because I am a huge fan of sweet dishes and this one really stood out to me!

Maze is great if you want to have something a little different for breakfast and they put their own little twist on the menu. They will also be opening for dinner very soon, so I am very excited to head down there and try it!

The breakfastpiggy team
Piggies out, Oink oink 🐷🐷

Maze is one of Toorak’s newest eateries, situated in the hub of Toorak Village. It has possibly one of my favourite cafe logos ever (must be the Mathematician in me, but I think it’s really cool) and a very sleek looking interior. Maze refers to itself as a restaurant and it very much feels like one too.

Had breakfast here and it was excellent. There was a delicious Mediterranean feel to the meal (Maze Brekky), which I've never had before. The coffee was great too. Also the owner was extremely friendly and engaging. I'll definitely be going back again.

I had the most perfectly poached eggs and the hollandaise sauce was to die for! Coffee was pretty good too. Great food and good atmosphere. Good place to head to for brunch with a girlfriend or family .
