Review Park House Cafe - Toowoomba

Suzzi Suzzi
Park House Cafe was only a quick stop for a coffee. We did not have any food. Next time we will. Coffee was good and the staff very friendly. Just thought to let you see what it looks like. A great place across the road from the Park. Perfect place to sit and enjoy your day.

I’ve been here a couple of times now and the food has always been amazing. Reasonably cheap for the large amount of food you receive. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The coffee has always been delicious and never burnt. Staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the cafe is very warm and welcoming also. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Toowoomba.

We took the long way home from Kingaroy last week and had lunch here before continuing home. We sat in the external courtyard after checking in. He chose the wagyu beef pie with mash, while I had the lemon pepper squid salad. My squid was tasty, with a crispy coating and deliciously peppery, though the salad came with a slightly too sweet for me dressing, but otherwise fine. Hubby enjoyed his pie, which he found really tasty – well-seasoned and tender meat with crisp pastry. It certainly looked interesting, with the mash sitting on top of the meat and under the pastry lid. His salad looked to be the same as mine. My coffee was okay; not outstanding and a wee bit weak for me. He loved his berry shake which was icy cold and full of berry flavour. Staff were very friendly; meals came out promptly and all up, lunch was a very pleasant interlude.

Food is exactly what you'd expect but the vibes are impeccable. Poor staff are run off their feet on a Sunday, give them a raise. Sitting outside is a joy. So close to queen's park.

Great food and great staff! We had the Atlantic Salmon and the Steak burger. The salmon was cooked beautifully and paired well with the hollandaise sauce and salad. The steak burger was juicy and delicious. We also had the tiramisu cake after which was perfect.

Very nice vibes here. Lovely food presentation. The bagel was so good and freshly baked. I would definitely recommend going here on your trip. Very friendly and nice staff.

Reserved a table for my brother's 12th birthday - we had two thick shakes, a vanilla iced latte, BLT, wagyu beef pie, and Thai beef salad. The outdoors dining area was an enjoyable space and the food absolutely worth the cost. Portions left my group beyond full. The beef pie was peppery and juicy and the garlic mashed potato went very well. The Thai salad was also said to be amazing. Staff checked in for us to order drinks and food etc the perfect amount to provide service without disrupting us and each staff member also enquired to make sure we were happy with our meals.

Pending review Chose Park House Cafe for Mum's Birthday lunch after reading the reviews online and checking out the menu. The service was friendly & great. A little slow to take our order, but nothing to lodge complaints about. Coffee was delicious, food amazing. The only negative thing with the food was our misinterpretation of "crispy Pork belly salad". We expected some juicy pieces of pork belly with a crispy top, compared to "crispy pork belly" that is essentially like crunchy bacon bits. The flavour of the meal was however, very tasty. The corn fritters & chorizo was AMAZING and you can never go wrong with eggs bennie. All up, was a lovely atmosphere, great food, great service and will definitely return! Show less

Yet to be disappointed with this place. Been coming for years and it always has delivered the goods. Have never seen individual cob loaf on a menu! Delish! OMG!

Booked for family breakfast on the busiest day of the year Mother's Day ! Cafe was at capacity, staff were under pressure but were attentive and coping well. Meals were delivered without delay and I can happily recommend the vegetarian omelette !

The food was amazing, the female waitress we had though was rude and we were made to feel like we were wasting her time and we were an effort. We came to celebrate my closest friends birthday and we chose parkhouse because she also had her 4 small children. To be made to feel Like that wasn't a nice feeling, especially because 2 of us work in hospitality and know the level of service that should be given. Stephen was friendly and accommodating and the food was great but the waitress was horrible and we now regret choosing park house out of all the fun cafes we could have gone to, to celebrate a special birthday

Fast service. Great coffee. Hot breakfast, and I mean literally straight from the pan to plate to table. Best scrambled eggs in Toowoomba!

Lovely little cafe to hang out with friends for the afternoon. Comfort food, good wine list, lovely staff

A pot of tea means it should be more than 1cup right? Canadian Pancakes do have syrup on right? Very plain and dry no flavour.

Function on Saturday for Pascoe family was great. Food was awesome and thanks to all the wait staff. Recommend this place to anyone!

My partner and I often visit the Parkhouse Cafe, late at night for coffee and cake. We have always found the staff to be very helpful and attentive offering great service, and yummy food.

Absolutely beautiful. Great gluten free options, very friendly staff and scrumptious food! Fast service a bonus!

Staff were extremely slow once order was taken then my food came out with some sort of bug in the salad when I did manage to get the attention of staff I was not given an apology or discount for the food.. Was quite disappointed as they have been wonderful in the past.

I have dined here many times for business. Coffee is always good, food is always good. Service is occasionally slow. Friendly staff - which is a big plus.

My family and I had lunch at the Park House Cafe in Toowoomba and really enjoyed our meals. The service was great and the cafe set out beautifully on an old home. I had the Haloumi Burger, my father had the spaghetti, my brother the Steak Burger and my mother and grandmothers had an open grilled sandwich. Everything tastes fantastic and great value for money.

A very short and sweet review this, on a day where flower photos vs calories consumed would make for an epic death match if ever there was one.

So, we've got one of the best views in Toowoomba, one of the hottest days of the season (a whooping 26degrees) and Peters Ice Cream to top it all off - is that good or what?

Well, for sure, although chocolate and mango flavours aren't available as requested. The service makes up for it, and the English Toffee and Rum & Raisin are selected instead.

The toffee (****) one is nice, a true flavour and enjoyable. A waffle cone adds to the excitement. Run and Raisin (**.5) is by no means bad but lacks some spark compared to competitive competition ice cream wise.

Well worth investigating some of the other intriguing flavours. Next time!

Nice environment. Good cafe menu. The menu is interesting, good variety of vegetables and sides. Not just a meat and chips menu. The price is very reasonable for what you get.

Four of us dined here for dinner last Monday night and it was reasonably busy but we still had efficient service. There are a lot of good options to choose from on the menu. I had the house special salad which had crumbed goats cheese (winner).

I came here for lunch with my husband. It's a nice looking cafe in a nice spot across from the park. The waitress was friendly and attentive bringing us menus and water straight away. The service here was exceptional. As for the food it was quite average and I was disappointed with the flavour of my stuffed zucchini, It might've tasted what it should taste like but I thought it was bland. My husband's Mexican chilli burger had no heat to it at all.. they put half an avocado in it and it was placed and cut in a way that was aesthetically pleasing but awkward to eat. Food was pretty average. There are much better cafes in Toowoomba.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Bacon omelette was tasteless and appeared to be scrambled eggs topped with bacon strips, mushrooms and melted cheese rather than an actual omelette. Herb-butter mushrooms were also bland with no trace of herbs. Coffee was average. Staff did not check how our meal was. There are better places for breakfast within 50 metres.

Been here a few times. Coffee is passable, food is nice, good menu, lovely view of the park. Staff are usually good but run off their feet. Last time we were there a woman who appeared to be in charge was quite rude to my family (How dare we ask if they had a table available without a booking! We were such an inconvenience to her!) She then berated staff in front of the customers. Not a good look.

Lovely atmosphere and really delicious food. They also happened to have great entertainment the afternoon we were there

Park House Cafe. What a disappointment. From the fumbling of fairly straight-forwarded orders on a quiet, Friday morning right way through to being presented with cold, hard egg yolks, my overall experience with Park House was, you could say, less than pleasant.

Great atmosphere and great food. Had the avocado and eggs on toast dish and it was one of the best in toowoomba (i have trialled a lot!). The restaurant itself is spacious and very inviting

Went there again for brekkie with the family. The new spring menu is amazing. I had the smoked salmon brekkie with eggs, sourdough, avo, asparagus, smoked salmon without the holandaise. Soooo good! Mum had corn fritters which looked amazing. Love it here!

I always go here for breakfast and get the bacon eggs Benedict and it's delicious every time. Service has been fine and wait times not too bad considering they're always popular

Won't be back. We visited recently for breakfast on a Sunday - the place was full, and the wait was quite awhile, which we put down to it being full.

We went yesterday, the cafe was busy for nowhere near full. Our order was taken and then after an hour when our meals hadn't arrived, we went looking for them. A waitress came past and said they won't be a moment longer. 15 minutes later our meals arrived.

The meals were ordinary given the price, I would have expected more flavour. The pepita crusted chicken, just tasted like breadcrumbs. The lamb burger was tasteless and the lemon pepper calamari was just basically just floured and the pear seemed to be missing from the pear and pistachio accompaniment.

Not one staff member came to ask us for anything between ordering and when our meals finally arrived. One staff member did come to clear our plates, I had to ask why our meals were so long - apparently the chef lost the order (different story to what we got when we complained upon paying) - and I said we weren't happy and we hadn't even received an apology for the delay.

We were then left to our own devices, though water was offered again, none was brought. We weren't offered coffee or dessert. In the end we waited until our youngest had finished her food. Our dining companion helped finish her's off and said her nacho sauce has more flavour than his Pepita chicken.

When paying, we asked the manager why our meals had been so long. Her story was the chef had put our order at the back and we only waited 15 minutes longer than the 45 minute wait that they had that day. Well we weren't even told there was a 45 minute wait when our order was taken, surely that's what you would do when you took the order?

She continued to argue that she was right and that we had been apologised to - no we hadn't, we had to ask for an apology from the waitress and we had to ask why our meals had taken so long, it wasn't offered. She slipped in an apology whilst making excuses. She said what else do you want I've said I'm sorry- I said a discount, she said no I can't do that. Really? Okay then, you've lost a customer, we won't be back.

We drove from Brisbane today to have a nice family lunch. It wasn't. We won't be back. And given other reviews I've read, I'm guessing I'm not the only one that's had to deal with the lack of customer service and snooty attitude.

Very nice. I've been here a number of times and have always had a pleasant experience.
coffe is great and portions sizes are perfect.
Staff are always pleasant.
Food was very nice but a little bit pricey.
Atmosphere lovely.
Well worth a go and I would definitely come again
Some of the negative reviews might be a bit harsh.

Won't be back. Dined here today with teenagers on a school sports trip. An hour to get food isn't acceptable, lots of people who came in after us were served before us. After 40 mins told we would get food in a couple of minutes. Had obviously forgotten to put in food order, when it came wasn't great, the tempura hadn't been cooked long enough and was very floury tasting. We had gone to pay for drinks as we had decided to leave when the food eventually arrived.
Staff were not very accommodating although one waitress appeared to be close to tears.... She had taken our order.
Couldn't a account for why it took so long for our food to arrive... They could tell us we ordered the drinks an hour earlier but had no record of when food was ordered.
Couldn't recommend visiting this cafe.

Average. Not impressed with my meal from the Park House cafe. Mum and dad have eaten there before and said it was amazing so we decided to give it a go. 1+hrs after ordering (it was busy even though it was later in the afternoon), my parents get their meals. Then the waitstaff take meals to another table. And another one. And another one. 10mins later my meal finally makes it to the table. It was clear that some of it had been sitting under the lights for quite some time. I kept it simple, opting for grilled barramundi with chips and salad. The chips were cold and soggy, the fish well cooked but so over-salted, and the salad was dry, and wilted with no dressing. I managed about half the plate. Deciding as well to have dessert, we went over to the cake cabinet, and came back to a completely clear table. I suppose that could be our fault but we did say we would be back and had left handbags, jackets and phones on the table so to me it was clear we would be right back. We each had cake, which was also average. Possibly comes from a box, and the cake part of mine was stale and just didn't taste right. Was hoping for the quality and food my parents got, they both had alright meals, and have had great meals in the past, but I'm not willing to give a second chance

Unsatisfactory. Upon a recent visit , i was appaled at the level of service delivered, Being teenager, the group that ii was visiting with was treated as though the staff were far more superior than us. No matter what the age, the customer should always feel as though they are appreciated and welcome. When i was ready to order the staff where less than approachable and very unfriendley. I ordered a chai latte and a blueberry and almond tart. The waitress took my order as though it was not appropriate and repeated it with an unfriendly tone as if i should be ordering a babychino. My order arrived promptly but the other members at my tables meals were delivered quite a while after mine. The blueberry and almond tart was very mediocre and tasted as though it was stale, it was more like a cake with a couple of bluberries. It came in a small slice, quite dissapointing for the highly set price, and was very hot, as though left in a microwave for to long. The plate that it was served on was dirty and old with old food crumbs and scratch marks littering the plate. The dish was served with a miniscule amount of nearly melted cream and no garnishes. The chai latte was quite delectable aside from the part that is wasn't very hot ( The waitress assuming that i liked my drink colder because i was young). Overall i was very dissapointed in the poor service, lack of atmosphere and mediocre food

Had a very nice experience here on our last visit... But this time it was soooo bad, returned my meal after a few bites it was terrible!!!

Read the review about the hygiene, looked at my cup and it had someone's lipstick still on it!
The replacement cup had schmutz on it too. Someone needs to call management/department of health on this nightmare.
The setting was absolutely ideal though, beautiful park views, gorgeous gardens. Let's just hope we don't get sick!

I suggest everyone take a good look at what they are eating off or with. Perhaps study the glass or cup they are serving to you. The hygiene is appalling I will be calling the health department and insisting on an audit. If a cafe can't serve up a clean cup with my coffee they should be out of business, my plate looked dirty and dull when I turned it over it was disgusting I suggest u all do this if you insist on going here. I certainly will not be returning nor will I suggest it to any one ever.

A definite for Sat/Sun breakfast. The city centre of Toowoomba on a Sunday morning is like the set of "On the Beach", ie. desolate after a nuclear holocaust. Looking for somewhere to breakfast, we headed Brisbane-ward to stumble upon this busy eatery set charmingly on the edge of town beside an avenue of camphor laurels and opposite the verdant of Queen's Park. It's obviously a haven for sore-headed locals and visitors, like ourselves, who have partied to excess the night before, and seemingly a gathering-point for bicyclists assembling in their weird garb. This place apparently operates as a café and restaurant, but my comments are limited to the café offerings. The setting is more than pleasant, with both covered and al fresco options. The service this morning was efficient, but the wait before the food arrived a tad long. The meals were above average, though not brilliant: The several serves of classic bacon and eggs seemed just fine; my Mediterranean medley of haloumi (slightly overcooked0, poached eggs (a bit watery), a large mushroom, tomatoes and chorizo with a crazy balsamic dressing frenzied over the top I did like. The teas and coffee were good, though the tea-pots they use need serious re-assessing, since the lids are not attached, slip easily, and ended up on the floor and in my wife's cup in quick succession. The bill was not too excessive, but somebody else paid, anyway! We'd go back.

Don't bother. You know you're in trouble when you ask for gluten free menu options and the waiter replies,"is that wheat and stuff?". You really know you're in trouble when after the obligatory trip to ask chef the waiter tries to tell you that Turkish bread is gluten free and is willing to argue about it.
Gluten free or not, the food is ordinary at best, the staff are a little unprofessional, the management is incompetent and the prices are over the top.

Park house cafe offers very ordinary food which is way overpriced considering the quality of the meals. services slow and staff treated me as if I was an inconvenience. my partner and I were disappointed in our meals and both agreed that we could cook much better then this at home. will never visit here again.

Love the Park House Cafe. Always try & eat at this cafe whenever in Toowoomba. On 28/04/13 we dined for breakfast & were not disappointed. The coffees were lovely as well as our meals - pancakes with candied apples/walnuts; French toast with bacon. Delicious. Will definitely go back.

Lovely setting - great food. Was looking for somewhere nice for Breakfast whilst visiting Toowoomba, stopped in at the Park House Cafe.

The place was pretty busy and so the staff were working pretty hard. We were presented menus within about a minute and then water and drinks orders taken.

Service isn't super fast, this isn't fast-food - but honestly when you are having a relaxing breakfast what is the rush? We ordered a cooked breakfast, prices are very reasonable - or at least comparable with what you expect from Cafe food - about $16-$20 for breakfast options.

The coffee was well made, really tasty perfect temperature and lovely flavour. I had the Parkhouse Breakfast, was really impressed with the quality and the taste, also the bacon was cooked perfectly - not like the crispy over cooked stuff at most cafes.

I can't fault the service, yes it was a little slow at times - but they were very busy for a Sunday morning, they had a lot of staff working and they were all busy looking after tables - food and coffee was lovely. The other important thing is that the staff were friendly and made you feel welcome.

Next time I am up in Toowoomba I would definitely head back - their lunch menu looked really interesting too so definitely would give that a try as well.

Hit and miss. Celebrated lunch today. Nachos were stale with next to no cheese. What's that about? Platter sounded great but dips were tiny and the mix of food was a bit uncoordinated. Steak burgers were great though. Great ambience.

Great coffee, the meal we order was a llovely salad one Of the best ive had!!! the service was great they had friendly staff!! Def going there again !!
Jason
Great food, Good coffee, slow service. Fine if not in hurry
BamBam
Friendly but slow and ineffective service. If you are paying $20 for a burger for lunch ie above average, then you should expect at least average service. Waited well over 60 mins for the waitstaff to clear my table and take a coffee order. She did an admirable job of avoiding eye contact and avoiding my table altogether.

Happy diner!. I have to disagree with Amy Gardener. With a few recent trips to Toowoomba under our belt, and many more anticipated this year, we have eaten alfresco on two occasions at the Park House Cafe. I have been hugely impressed with the quality of the food we have eaten on both occasions, and thankful for the ambience and relaxed atmosphere the Cafe has afforded us each time. The service, while on the slow side, has always been extremely courteous and friendly - so unless you're looking for a fast-serve establishment, then this venue is not for you! I for one absolutely love the slower pace of dining which encourages the diner to sit back, relax, interact and enjoy. The only suggestion I have to make is that the three very busy waiting staffers could do with an extra pair of hands during peak periods! Otherwise, this place gets my vote.
Amy Garden
Consistently disappointing food, coffee and service which is such a shame considering the delightful location.

Amazing!. I visit Park House Cafe frequently - good service, fantastic food, great coffee! I went recently with my family and enjoyed the atmosphere immensely! You have the choice of inside or outside dining - both are great.

Our first visit to Park House Cafe. On arrival we dicoveted it to delightfully decorated homely Cafe. It's very roomy with an fantastic Al Fresco area out the front. We enjoyed a fantastic meal from the very simple, yet ample menu. It was very enjoyable to sit outside with a great view of Queens Park. We thoroughly recommend Park House Cafe
