Lamb chop entree 1 lamb chop only was told on phone it was 2 😕 Nann bread was stodgy . Lamb Rogan Josh was very good , but seriously everything else we ordered was average . 50 min delivery took 95 mins ☹️

An excellent restaurant scoring well in both food and service. We have been here several times and they have consistently exceeded our expectations, especially in the taste of the food items. When every Indian restaurant offers the same menu and dismal taste, this place has outdone the others.

Went dinner last night to jashn, I'm assuming it's under new ownership as the food and service is terrible and it used to be amazing. I ordered a meal ( which I have ordered the same in the past) and I asked for very mild. It was so spicy me and my partner actually couldn't eat it so I asked for a replacement meal that was mild. The waitress gave us another meal but was pretty rude about it. The replacement meal was not very nice but at least it wasn't too spicy. The naan bread was like it was out of a packet too. When we went up to pay she said we had to pay for the meal that we couldn't eat. The customer service was bad, same with the food. Not a great dining experience like it used to be.

Could easily give them below this on all fronts… Ordered food worth $300; for our anniversary for few friends; got to pick up after 40 mins which was the time given to us, we were told that they haven’t started preparing as order was above $100 hence it needs to be prepaid. It’s their policy and they forgot to take our number and hence couldn’t call back. It gets better.. they eventually said they would deliver.. order wasn’t delivered properly, part of food was delivered an hour later. Food if no where authentic, naans are bought from Coles supermarket and they just heat them up. THEY DO NOT COOK fresh. For me it’s not a INDIAN PLACE IF THEY CANNOT COOK FRESH BREADS. I do not wish to comment further, you can imagine what quality of curries they provide. Please avoid this place.

Tried Jashn for the first time tonight with mixed success. The samosa, naan and lamb chop entree were nice, although for the price we expected more than one chop. Dhal makhani is my go-to dish when ordering Indian, and this was a disappointment. Very bland and overpoweringly buttery. Hubby rated the beef madras as just okay. For $75 it wasn't what we'd hoped for, maybe just a bad night there.

Do not order takeaway from this restaurant. Ordered online at 6.35pm was advised it would be delivered at 7.35pm. $35 for a rice, some naan and a butter chicken, and delivery. 8pm rolls around still no food, so I call, the lady informs me that “your food is ready but it’s sitting there waiting for a delivery driver, can you come and pick it up?” I say no thanks, I paid for delivery for a reason, She tells me “it will be delivered in 5-10 minutes”. 8.30pm rolls around still no food so I call again, “oh yes it’s with the driver now but he has lots of other deliveries to do” Who knows how long the food sat around for, lied to by the lady who answered the phone, and charged $7 for delivery that was over an hour late, 5mins from the restaurant. Order from this restaurant at your own risk, I won’t be ever again and neither will my friends and family. Costly mistake by you Jashn.

Loved everything except for their masala chai. But overall food wise i would rate them 10/10 and great customer service, friendly staff 💛

I’ve had good good here before in the past however the Goan Fish Curry looked like they’d bought a piece of battered fish from the fish & chip shop and stuck in a sauce looked like a fluorescent yellow version of the kind of thing you’d find in a baby’s nappy.

The reason to give them 2 star is:
1- Restro closes at 10 and we entered at 9pm. We mentioned we wanted table for four, and the first thing the owner/manager says is, “thats fine, but we close soon so only if you order inmediately. He could have said it in a better way, letting us first sit at the table and then saying, “our kitchen will close at 9:30, so if you could please order soon.”
2- Food quantity, specifically the curries was so less for the price. The biryani was still a reasonable quantity, but curries was not worth the money.

Overall, the service was quick, food was of good quality, but because of the above two factors we won’t be coming back.

Disgusting food and service. And on top of it the owner should go to the school and learn some etiquette and discipline rather than running a restaurant. Extremely rude owner who asks her customers to pay the bills and to get out of the premises because we didn't like the food.

Pleasantly surprised at just how good the food was here.
I love Indian but have been largely disappointed by how bland some of the curry dishes are here in Australia.
Jashn was different, great flavours in every dish and the curries were beautifully cooked.
Being from the UK we are spoiled for choice when it comes to Indian food.
Highly recommend you visit these guys and cure your homesick taste buds.

We were staying in Torquay for the weekend, and thought we'd give them a try. We were the first customers, so we were seated and had our orders taken quickly. The first entree only took about fifteen minutes, but the other entree was ten minutes behind that. Then came the wait. From when we ordered, it took just OVER AN HOUR to receive our mains. The staff provided no reasons for the delay, or even acknowledged it.
As for the food itself:
The onion bhaaji was awesome. The chili paneer was nice, as was the lamb rogan josh. The lamb was very tender and had very little fat. The palak paneer was a letdown. The paneer was bland and chewy, but the sauce was nice. I asked for it spicy, and they provided. The rice was also over-cooked.

Take away last night was amazing! Order ready when we were told it would be, generous portions of good quality meat in all dishes, and really great flavour. We had beef vindaloo, lamb korma, butter chicken, samosa, lamb and chicken naan. Highly recommend.

The food was good but the service was really disappointing, we waited to be seated, we waiting ages for a menu and when we were ready to order the waiter was rather flustered.
A little underwhelming.

The food was delicious, but only if they hadn't used color in the gravy, I would have liked it better! :|
The service is fast and the ambience has a good Indian desi touch! Recommended for curry hunters! :)
The take away meals were great. The only small negatives were that they should label the mains. We had 3 chicken dishes (2 Tikka Masalas - one hot and one mild) and one butter chicken. We had to taste them all to know which was which. Also, delivery took 85 minutes which is 30 minutes more than quoted and way too long.

Dal was too salty and butter chicken was too sweet . Service was very slow . After we got butter chicken,we had to wait for 10 mins to get chapatis

I had visited Torquay Australia for work and stayed at torquay Inn for one night on Friday 21st august. I could not help noticing jashn Indian restaurant next door. Went for dinner there.
Got black dall, palak paneer and chicken tikka masala and some nans. The food was delicious and served hot. Not to forget the Barrosa Valley pinot. The owner hostess was
very warm and pleasant and talked to us..
Frankly did not expect so good so far away from home. Regards Ranjeet new Delhi India
Ranjeet@eastendapparels.com
Went here to try a new experience and that is was I exactly got. The only thing was it was terrible. The food was easily the worst Indian I have ever eaten. The entree platter was just fried tasteless muck. The chicken tika and dumpling which was mashed potatoe and cottage cheese was even worse. The chicken tika tasted like the sauce you get from a baked bean can. If you want to top off the experience of how to eat really bad Indian wash it down with the watered down red wine that you wouldn't even use as a salad dressing. Thank you Jashn for the experience that I'm sure I will not endure again.

I love this Indian food at Jashn. So flavoursome and with a nice amount of heat. Great value for money!

Poor service even though only 2 tables were occupied in the restaurant. After placing the order we were told entrees would take 30 mins so we cancelled the entrees and it took an eternal time for the mains to come as well. I posted this without tasting the food not sure if a customer would appreciate the taste after this long wait.

Flavourless and Tasteless. If you want to have Indian food which no way tastes Indian and is bland, flavourless and non appetising then THIS is the place to go. Otherwise avoid it.

A

We went there tonight the young girls that work there are lovely. We went there with the understanding that Indian has nuts in it, going through the menu the dishes were listed if they had nuts in it..BUT we ordered two dishes rogan josh and butter chicken. Both not listed with nuts in them and I've never had a problem with butter chicken ever and it was listed as a child friendly dish. After tasting the butter Chicken I knew something was not right asked them and they said the butter chicken has the most amount of nuts in the whole menu. After approching the manager she tried to put the blame on me and still made us pay even though I was having a severe reaction. It's not a type of a service you want when it's threatening to your well being especially when majority of the menu lists where nuts are contained. Safety before sales!

Worst service ever received! One staff tells one thing and the other says another..No accountability whatsoever!!! Spoilt our evening with their rudeness. Would NOT recommend at all! They will charge you extra without even letting you know and would not even apologise for wrong information from their own staff and happy to cancel your order...Utterly disgusted with the lack of basic ettiquettes!!!!

Excellent food, excellent value. $71 was easily enough to feed 4.

Worst Food. This Restaurant use take away Dal from indian grocery. Ordered Dal i think they put color in packet dal and serve us as we find it tasteless and even staff was very rude when we complained they told us we serve like it whether u like it or not. not recommended restaurant. I think come in geelong Kohinoor, shiraz, khan are much better than this one

Recommended!. Look, it's not the most amazing Indian food but it's definitely a delicious choice here in torquay! great quality, good service, fair prices!

Great Surfcoast Indian. Have eaten lots of Indian cuisine in Melbourne and this little gem on the surfcoast was surprisingly good. We went there primarily due to the clear gluten free menu and the staff's clear knowledge on what did and didn't have certain nuts. But the actual curries and the biryani were delicious. Often Northern Indian curries will merge and the flavours seem too similar but the curries we chose were distinct and superb. The fish curry was a stand out. I would not recommend the Barramundi on the menu as it was obviously not fresh and was quite fishy plus a small serving. The naan were very satisfactory. We'd go back.

We ordered take away food here and it was the worst food ever. Dry, tasteless and tiny. Salad consisted of 3 pieces of cucumber and 5 pieces of sliced carrot. Check out the photo!

Outstanding food. Most authentic Indian food in Victoria

It's a fantastic place with excellent food been thr too many time to remember !!

Only had a takeaway but the menu stood out from the others.... Lots of vegetarian dishes that were not just the usuals. The tastes of the different dishes were interesting - often everything tastes the same when you don't eat meat. One small minus.... Malai Kofta was made with a lot of cardamon - a bold flavour to include without mentioning it in the description. Nevertheless, would definitely go back there again.

Disappointing. I have tried most of the Indian restaurants around melbourne and I would rate this place as 1.5/5,as far as authenticity goes. Ordered a paneer and chicken curry which seemed full of food colouring. It didn't seem very edible. Expect the female owner to fake the accent and give you the cold shoulder.I'm never going back.

Very Coeliac friendly menu! Not many Indian restaurants indicate GF. Delicious food, will be back!!!

Jashn rocks. Delicious food, reasonably priced and with excellent service make Jashn a very welcome addition to Torquay. There is an excellent selection of dishes, vegetarian and omnivore which will satisfy a wide range of appetites and tastes.
Since discovering this gem on Bell St, I’ve been eating here a couple of times of month and it never fails to please. Even during the busiest times, owners Rachit and Aditi make time to welcome you and ensure you enjoy your meals.
Must order - Spinach, peas and mushroom and roti.
