Review Ginger Monkey - Torquay

Kristen McLean
Located just off the main highway in Torquay, I sat outside under a well placed umbrella, cute rustic outdoor furniture. Fast service, nice atmosphere, a good menu, delicious coffee.

Popped in here for a takeaway coffee the first time I visited Ginger Monkey... Had a mocha and it was really good! Second time around it seemed like a busy lunch service on a Tuesday. Had coffee, Buddha Bowl style meal and a brownie. Very happy with the speed of service and quality of food. Staff were friendly both visits and there were a good range of options for meals and sweets. Well worth checking out!

Amazing place and customer service. Amazing food and chai latte

Rustic and cozy place with plenty of parking space. Best vegetarian I have had. I had the Breakie Burrito and my friend had Marinated Tofu Norish Bowl. The serves are substantial. We are both very happy with our meals. Both plates are full of goodness with proteins and well balanced ingredients. Strongly recommended for a healthy and hearty meal.

Chai latte with honey tasted fantastic, bit spicy but quite authentic. Waited 20min for it and ended up forgetting our order twice, got a refund with the free coffee. Portuguese tart was cold but overall good

Excellent food and great coffee. There were three of us and we all really enjoyed our different meals.

Insanely good coffee and the staff are so great with food issues as myself and my daughter have a few. This place is vegetarian and does it better than most regular cafes. Cannot recommend this place highly enough...

Lovely cafe, and the staff were so nice

My wife and I came here for Brunch. I had the breakfast salad with the poached egg and haloumi. It was very well done. My wife ordered the Nasi Goreng. The flavours were amazing, it was honestly the best Brunch we’ve had to date. Will definitely return.

Thanks so much to the team at Ginger Monkey for such fantastic food and service to help us to celebrate Presentation Night at the Jan Juc Cricket Club last night. We really appreciate it and the food was a huge hit with everyone again.

Pretty much the best place I've ever been in my life

Very nice and would be even better with banana bread on the menu😊

Our favourite cafe in Torquay. Great atmosphere, food, coffee, and staff.

Great food and great staff. Always love coming up there when we are in town

Nice cafe! I just wish that for a vegetarian cafe it had more vegan options. E.g the burrito my boyfriend got could easily just have the cheese on the outside melted then served with the sour cream. I got the Nasi Goreng which was very yum! But still very happy to find a all vegetarian cafe !

So yum! Peanut butter on the tofu burger was amazing!

I discovered Ginger Monkey today and it absolutely rocked. Loved the vibes going on and also was impressed with the creative menu. The food was delish, and I could tell it was made with real energy and passion. Be back really soon and I will be spreading the word about this place.

Good for coffee most times unless you pick rush hour.
Breakfasts are generous and there are plenty of options to personalise with extra ingredients.

The Mexican chili scrambled eggs and the goats cheese, field mushrooms, poached egg on sour dough. Both $17.5, avo $3 extra for the mushroom dish. Now I don't know if I am being picky but as the pictures show, a button mushroom is not a field mushroom! The scrambled eggs were nice but no
Chili what so ever. This place needs to pick up its game and serve what is actually advertised in the menu! Also $3 for a slither of avo is outrageous. And since when did Salt and pepper become communal items that we had to share among tables. Buy some more with your avo funds.

Really disappointed.
A vegetarian restaurant with only ONE vegan option on the lunch menu?? Ridiculous! I can go to omni restaurants and have multiple vegan options. Not everything needs disgusting and cruel dairy, eggs and honey. In fact nothing does. Learn more about flavours and real food. It's not difficult. Plus vegan food is also vegetarian, if the menu was vegan everyone could eat there and not feel limited.
The only thing my mother and I could get was an inauthentic nasi goreng which was just a spicy fried rice with lots of shallots (feel sorry for any vegetarians that have onion, dairy and egg allergies or can't handle spicy food that come here, they'd have no options at all). And it was SEVENTEEN DOLLARS FIFTY. FOR RICE. in Melbourne you'd pay 7-10 bucks for double the amount of rice.
The dish did taste nice but definitely not worth that much money.
Would definitely not return unless they do an overhaul of their menu.
Owners should visit restaurants in Melbourne, especially the vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Fitzroy, to get some inspiration and see how the pros do it and what a real menu should look like.

The G Monkey is a funky hip little cafe just off the Surfcoast Hwy. It has a small but vast choice on the menu with quite a few vegetarian selections. Coffee here is great ! The service is very friendly and helpful. The cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch. On Fridays only the Ginger Monkey does Paellas, I had the seafood paella and I can highly recommend it, the seafood was so fresh, no wonder there's a crowd .... see you around....the kitchen Bitch

Great food, great coffee and very friendly service. All vegetarian food which suits me just fine! Happy to grab takeaway coffee or have a lovely meal. Highly recommend!!

Dropped in to this cafe and it was 'Paella Friday'. We ordered the seafood and vegetarian paella and they were both incredibly delicious!! Big portions for only $10. Got a brownie to take away for the car ride home...didn't last long- so good! Service was good...will definitely be back when we are down the coast again!
