Review Burger Foundry - Torrensville

Maddi Cullen
I am not sure if there is a new chef here, but this is better than ever. I stopped going for a while. However, I went back today and really enjoyed the meal. The chips were SUPER crispy and delicious. The buffalo wings were crispy and spicy and perfect.

Used to be great quality. I previously had given 4 stars last time I visited. Now I've given it a generous 2 stars. $7 taters tots gets you just 6 small balls. Burger was... meh, bacon burned as well which isn't ever a positive. I had a voucher which brought me back through the doors but sorry Burger Foundry, not worth the trip next time. Lady who served me was lovely nonetheless.

Don't waste your time and money eating from this place. Go to the magill Rd burger foundry. They use a decent amount of ingredients at magill Rd. I had a blue steel burger and it was disappointing as I had had one from magill Rd before and it was great. Also the person making the food did it all while talking and holding their phone to their ear the intire time while cooking. Very unhygienic. In the burger description it said thick cut tomato slices, check the photo to see thick cut tomatoes.

Had a spicy beef T burger and a serve of sweet potato fries. The burger was reasonable although the mince meat was of just average quality without notable, distinctive flavors. The atmosphere is not bad but the big flaw was the serve of sweet potato fries which were shoddy and obviously microwaved after being previously cooked and possibly frozen. Served in an old chipped enameled cup which made them even more limp. Sorry, won't be back any time soon @ $13.50 for small burger and $5 for 'those' microwaved things! Many more places around that are twice as good for the same money.

Tried there post workout salad…it was 10 out of 10…yummy yummy🤤🤤

These are some of the best burgers I've had in Adelaide. This place is highly underrated for the food they serve. Full of flavours at such a reasonable price. Went there with my fiance for our anniversary and the service was just so warm and welcoming. Highly highly recommend.

Physical copies of the menu need to be updated as there were a few items missing. Overpriced! Seriously. Nothing tasted fresh & it was overly dry.The chips were the best part & they weren't even handmade, just frozen ones as noted by your sign. The Tim Tam milkshake was nice though. Burger sizes were great. Staff are ok but their concentration was more directed at the cricket that was on tv. It's just a resounding 'Meh', I don't hate it but I don't really like it either.

Amazing fresh burgers with fresh ingredients. They have a see through kitchen so you can actually see your burgers being made. The girl even let the kid watch in the kitchen with all safety. The customer service is very nice. Will definitely be going back again.

Headed here for a quick Friday night burger. Portion size was good but we found the burgers were quite oily as we ate them. The chips were tasty and we only got one serve to share between two. Staff were polite and it was popular for a takeaway option. Might go back for a meal on the run.

Awful wings, even when they are 50c each they are not good. Not sticky, and not crispy, you can cook better at home. On a weeknight it closes at 8pm, which is very early.

Was keen on getting a burger, and burger foundry was a place I had not been before so was keen to give it a shot. I ordered the beef burger with mushrooms and caramelized onions. The combinations of flavours was good, however it would be good if that beef patty was a bit thicker compared to other burger places. Also I had a tim tam shake, but compared to the shakes at places like Nordburger, it wasn't that great. Also, a bit pricey for the standard of food that is served.

Friday night required a burger and we headed to Burger Foundry. Our choice for the night was the Beerenburger and the Steak burger with sides of hand cut chips. The burgers, as expected, were both tasty enough. Disappointed that they are still using frozen chips due to "seasonal difficulties". Torrensville BF is now licensed which is a bonus. Is a relatively expensive meal.

Awful, heavy, stodgy burgers. Food inevitably half cold to boot. Tried it two times just to make sure the first time wasn't just an unfortunate off night. Horrendously overpriced, and considering there are half a dozen better and cheaper burger places in the surrounding suburbs, I struggle to understand why you wouldn't go literally anywhere else.

Stopped by here for a late lunch today with three others. We took advantage of the Entertainment Book voucher, which brought the bill down to $33.<br/><br/>Their mushroom patty is worth a try, but the accompaniments could be improved. Tomato was on the underripe side, and it lacked heat/chilli. The chips were tasty, seasoned well with rosemary salt. My friends enjoyed their beef and chicken burgers respectively. One reported that the tator tots were ok, without being mindblowing.

Really bad burgers: my wife and I had ate there on Wednesday. The hamburgers are really odd with an after-taste of masala or spices. They claim their burgers are 100% Angus beef but my wife (who is a cooking instructor)didn't think they were beef. Really overpriced as well: we won' t be returning. <br/><br/>It's McDonalds for us next time! At least their burgers are decent.

My girlfriend and I ate there really enjoyed the food and the place, prices are a bit higher than usual place but, in my case at least, is worth it for the better quality.

Been before, first time reviewing. Very good quality, fresh ingredient burgers. A nice variety of different burgers and some interesting less than conventional ingredients being used. Wife had the blue cheese burger which also has walnuts in it. She loved it. I had the americano which was a special edition burger. Pickles, onion, two patties, sauce and mustard. Also very good. Chips were nice, got a side of wings which were alright. Honey barbecue better than their buffalo. Overall a nice place, look out for scoopons.

One of the worst dining experiences ive had. The onion rings use the outside first shell of an onion (which should be thrown out and not used) so they were bitter, unchewable and inedible. The meat was full of gristle about 30% of the pattie being pulled out our mouths being too chewy from the gristle. Chips came in a camping mug with the bottom was all rusted out. The bench seat was much taller than the stool on the other side of the table which made conversation awkward as one person looms over. Ordered deep fried dessert and it was served with main course so was not tasty by the time they were eaten. Cheap ingredients used. Cheap interiors and cheap cutlery. Tables are not even set with cutlery! We to dig out of a tin bucket that had only 2 forks and 1 knife in it and at the bottom was a thick greesy layer of dust. Never experienced anywhere with such a low standard for everything presented.

What do you do Burger Foundry to get such bad reviews Cannot you cook? I am not qualified to write  a review yet as  we are going down there tomorrow so hope the trip is worth it Not so sure about it though from the negative reviews. We are Burger experts so they had better be good I will write my review after the experience

Burgers weren't a pass mark. Was quite disappointed. Had the blue cheese beef patty burger and was not satisfied at all. Beef chuck mince was overcooked and not tender enough. Bun was also very average. There's So many other great burger bars in Adelaide I can't recommend this place at all. Cool fitout and vibe but average burgers and sides. Went once and won't be back. Thumb down, not worth an eat.

Have now eaten at this place a couple of times so I finally feel qualified to review it. Having read Both positive and negative reviews of Burger Foundry, I wanted to give this place a couple of chances to show its stuff. Unfortunately, however, I have not yet been impressed by it. <br/><br/>I ordered the Angus burger with fries and a drink. The first thing I noticed was the price - $18 for the burger plus another $6.50 for chips and a drink. This struck me as being quite expensive in comparison to some of the other burger places in the western suburbs. <br/><br/>As we waited for our burgers, there was a very noticeable lack of ambience. No music playing, wait and cool staff not really interacting with each other or other customers - it just felt drab and boring. <br/><br/>When the burgers finally came out I found mine to be nice, just nothing mind-blowing. The meat was cooked well, but it just didn't have that wow factor that you'd expect from a meal that cost $25.50 in total. I also found the chips to be cold and mushy. <br/><br/>In short, there are many better options for burgers in the western suburbs - try 128 Days instead.

Burgers were ok, but not the best I've had in Adelaide. We ordered the Blue Steel and Texan Madness - the flavours were good, but the beef patties were pretty dense and honestly tasted a lot like a supermarket burger patty. I expected the beef to be fresh, soft and medium rare but it was like a bit rubbery and hockey-puck-ish. Fries were good, onion rings tasty but the bread coating was really thick. Overall ok but won't be coming back in a hurry - I'll go to Burger Theory for my burgers in the future!

Really good burgers and nice service.<br/><br/>Overpriced like every nice burger place and very annoying they don't provide meal deals (like every other burger place). First world problems.

It was burger time for us so we paid a visit to Burger Foundry at Torrensville 172 Henley Beach Rd, Torrensville. We have been here a few times and thought on this occasion we would write about our experience. As you walk in, the vibe really screams modern day burger joint all around. It's casual and fun.
MissSarma
Not a fan. Burgers were tasteless, overcooked and tasted like charcoal. And those fries? What are they thinking serving those to paying customers ? Terrible. Drenched in oil and tasted old and burnt. Way better burger places around the west.

Lured by a Scoopon deal, we decided to try out another burger eatery as the fad for American cuisine is still rampant. Same owners as the two Ginza establishments in Adelaide, the interior was funky and on trend. I appreciate when a place has invested in an interior fitout, because the food might keep bringing you back, but it is a bonus to enjoy your meal in a space that adds to the experience. We ordered our burgers which came with fries. Mine pictured is the chicken with avocado and brie. Two thumbs up for the freshness of ingredients and size, however it was rather beige; bland for my palate. My sister had the 'hen house' burger which was very tasty, so i ended up swapping with her. Verdict on their fries? Not a fan! It was overcooked and dry. We enjoyed the peanut butter crunch milkshake. What it lacks in size made up for in calories. I would go back to sample their other offerings, however, the fries needs improvement. P.S. thumbs up for the user friendly website.

I have now been to this burger joint enough times to confidently give my review. I have been holding off for a while because I wanted to be sure that my experiences weren't one-offs. I am still perplexed as to how there are so many negative reviews as I am yet to try a burger that I haven't enjoyed.<br/><br/>Food:<br/>I have only tried the beef burgers, because technically anything else is a sandwich (but that's another story). Every time I have been here I have been impressed with the size, the form and the combination and quality of the ingredients in the burgers. The texture of the patties is fantastic and they are always cooked well, albeit, I have had more flavourful patties and I prefer my patty slightly less done. These are old school burgers, not caving into the trend of brioche buns. This is great because I don't want to feel like I'm having a heart attack every time I have a burger. I like the hand cut chips - they are different to what you get at most burger bars, however they are susceptible to sometimes coming out a little over cooked for my liking.<br/><br/>Service:<br/>Every time I have walked into this burger bar I have been greeted by an employee who has come out from behind the bar, which is a lovely touch. They are very friendly and helpful with the menu and they should really be commended for this effort.<br/><br/>Ambience:<br/>The fitout is cool although fairly straightforward, it's what you would expect from one of the better burger bars in Adelaide.<br/><br/>Dish to look out for:<br/>The Aussie

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. I came here with some colleagues for lunch for my birthday. We order our meals (3 of us). For some reason people who ordered after us were getting their food before us??? The table next to us sent their burger back because it was luke warm and missing cheese and bacon... Not a good start. We waited about 30 mins and then The people on my table got their burgers but I didn't... Mine came out in another 10 mins. They forgot the onion rings... So we waited Another 10 mins. My chips were cold and soggy and had to be sent back. The table next to us also had the same issue with their chips but couldn't be bothered sending them back. <br/>Onion rings were oily and tasteless... Big waste of $6. <br/>The burger I had was nice... The Texan and was the only saving grace of the lunch however, considering how much GOOD competition there is around, I won't be back here in a hurry.

Hand cut chips are delicious and the August Vegan Mushroom burger had lovely flavours but I would add avocado next time for creaminess. I got the burger minus caramelised onion due to sensitivity to onions and feel that it could of been to sweet with it anyway. Recommend and will return.
ILC
The burgers were pretty good, however I didn't like the fact that chips had to be paid for separately. Chips should just come with the burger...
Nikki
Vegan options are amazing and staff are well educated on what vegan is/not to cross contaminate. Hand cut chips are delicious. Would be good to see more vegan burger options!
Laura
So tasty! One of the best burgers I've had was the new vegan burger, which has fried tofu and a tandoori-style vegetable pickle. So delicious.

Every once in a while, I’ll have a day where I just want to kiss every last salad goodbye and for one meal, indulge in the juiciest burger I can find. Oh, and maybe treat myself to a rich, velvety milkshake to wash it all down. If ever you’re in a mood for that filling, no-regrets kinda meal, make your way down to Burger Foundry. Not long ago I was invited to their new Torrensville location where I was treated to just that. With all the burger joints in town, I had been on the hunt for burger places that would really hit close to home for me (America), I walked in with fingers crossed this wouldn’t disappoint. Sides platter: Onion rings seasoned with Foundry spices; $6.00, Mozzarella and bacon tater tots; $6.00, and hand cut chips; $4.00 Each table started off with a trio platter of their side items, the basic burger accompaniments. The onion rings were deliciously flaky and crispy. A thick slice of onion in each ring. And the warm, pillowy tater tots oozing with mozzarella from the centre truly hit the spot. An ingenious take on the classic tater tot! Mozzarella and bacon tater tot Tim Tam milkshake; $5.50 Next up, these house made milkshakes served in classic milk bottles were a treat. I’ve learned that in Australia, there’s thickshakes and then there’s the thinner, regular milkshakes. How I appreciate that Burger Foundry has made all their shakes a perfect balance of thick and smooth, just like the ones I’m used to! And a Tim Tam flavoured one at that–chunks of chocolatey creamy biscuit in each sip. Heaven for a sweet tooth like me. Blue Steel beef burger with roasted walnuts, sweet caramelized onions, blue cheese, aioli and rocket; $14.00 On to the burgers. I ordered the Blue Steel, Burger Foundry’s take on one of my favourite burger combinations. The blue cheese and caramelized onions gave the burger a sweet and tart flare, while the rocket and tomato slices toned it down. Walnuts and blue cheese are always a winning combo, as the walnuts add texture as well. I

Go somewhere else. Went in for a burger friday night got a swiss burger, chips and a peanut butter milkshake. Staff were firendly but honestly the food was bad. Thick bready bun, little flavour in the burger overall, quite big but also dry. Chips were greasy and under salted and the milkshake was gritty (due to the peanuts). Honestly if you want a good burger go elsewhere....nordburger is just up on port road, same prices and vastly superior food. Just my $0.02 :)

We build great burgers. So says the motto of Burger Foundry . My very first visit was a long time ago at St Morris, before the change in management and chef. They have since had a face lift followed by a new location on Magill Road and now, the opening of their Torrensville branch. We were fortunate enough to be invited to this new cosy location. The interior was a delight to walk into with contemporary wooden walls, communal tables in the middle and smaller dining tables on the side. The Chef having a bit of fun with us Burger Foundry is part of the Taste of Orient group founded by Mr. Johnny Yung who has set up a series of restaurants including Ginza Miyako, Ginza Japanese, Indochina, Golden Dragon Palace Seafood Restaurant, Wunderbar in China and Taste of the Orient in Hong Kong. He envisions expanding Burger Foundry and taking this South Australian established name international with sights on Asia. We wish him all the best.  Tater Tots, Onion Rings and Hand Cut Chips To kick off the night we were given some sides to share while we wait for our choice of burger to be made. They pride themselves on making these fresh and not buying in frozen products ready to fry. The Hand Cut Chips  are made with 100% Australian potatoes seasoned with Foundry ground sea salt and spices. A good start, chips are always a comfort. Onion Rings We were told the story with the onion rings, they only use a set size of onion rings so there's a guy in the kitchen cutting onions to pick out these 2 or 3 rings per onion of the right size. The onion rings are the crumbed with the crumb pressed in by hand to give that compact crunchy flavour. Rest assured, the rest of the onion is not wasted, they are used in other condiments and toppings. The onion rings were in fact very crunchy and I liked the crumbed coating very much though I would've liked more seasoning. Mozzarella & Bacon Tater Tots Burger Foundry also make their Mozzarella and Bacon Tater Tots  in house giving it a different shape a

Love it! I thought #burgers are only great in Melbourne. 5 of us ordered different burgers, pork ribs, onion rings, hand cut chips & rocket Parmesan salad. Good varieties including vegetarian options! Awesome buns, delicious patty & not-too-sweet sauces.. We left with 5 big smiles & 10 thumbs up! Oh the milkshakes are petty good but they fill you up, make sure to eat the giant burgers first! We will be back!

Disappointing consistency of burgers. I have made 3 orders over the past few months and 2 out 3 visits you have forgotten to put main ingredients into the burger. Last night I ordered the Jamaican chicken burger with bacon and when I got home there was no bacon in the burger even tho I paid extra (it was also very poorly wrapped). On another occasion I ordered the Avo, Brie chicken burger with bacon but that time you forgot the Brie. When paying $15-$17 for a burger you expect to get what you pay for. You may want to enforce some quality control for your kitchen staff.

My Favourite Burger. I had purchased a couple of Scoopons for this new Burger Café, which entitled us to a burger (from a choice of 6) and a small serve of 'hand cut' chips each. Could eat in or take away. <br/><br/>We both chose the "Rocky Mountain High" burger, which was absolutely delicious! The patty had a beautiful "hickory smoked" taste and was topped with tomato, cheese, lettuce, caramelised onions and aioli. Cooked properly but not dried out and was very tasty.<br/><br/>The chips were ordinary - nothing really wrong with them (except a bit cold) but nothing special either.<br/><br/>I also ordered a serve of the onion rings, for an extra cost. <br/>Got 6 large rings, for $6. When I say large, I do mean large. Rather than thin slices coated in batter like I'm used to, these were thick slices (about a 2cm wide) and were coated in a very crunchy and tasty crumb mixture - fried til a golden brown. They were extremely "moreish"!!<br/><br/>All in all, a great experience. The chips might have been average but the burger and onion rings were the best I've ever tasted. <br/><br/>Service was friendly and the décor was pleasant. If you remember the Minos Café, well this Burger place is situated in the exact same spot and has taken about 1/2 the shop area. <br/><br/>I will definitely go back.

Burger Foundry has come a long way from being a tiny little suburban burger store, to what will now be a national and international chain. Guests were invited tonight for the announcement by Johnny Yung, CEO of the Taste of the Orient Group, which owns Burger Foundry, and popular restaurants such as Ginza and Ginza Miyako.

Horrible burgers. Soggy and stale rolls and chips are soggy.<br/>It looks ok but taste bad. Don't recommend to anyone !<br/>No value for your money.<br/><br/>You need to pay $4 for soggy chips. What the!<br/>Primo is much better.

Needs some work. It's a big call for a new burger bar to serve stale bread rolls and think they can get away with it. You would think they would be trying to get every last detail right to allow the business to establish a solid customer base and start making some profit. Not so. The burger is greasy and hard work to enjoy. Did I say the bun is stale?? Hope they read the reviews here and fix the rookie errors that will likely see the doors close within the first 12 months if not fixed.

Rem. Went there in January, waiter met us at the door, seated us, took our order, burgers excellent although chips overcooked & fatty. Went there yesterday & expected someone to greet us & take our order so sat down. Nothing. Went to counter & person came out, took our order. Angus Burger, Classic Burger, Chips. Rolls were so stale & hard, they were inedible. My Angus beef was beautifully cooked. The mince in the Classic Burger was rank, going off. My friend has 3 bites before she gave up. Chips dark brown & cold, so stale. Very disappointed. Won't be back.

Burger Foundry - 172 Henley Beach Road, Torrensville SA 5031 OTCB was kindly invited to Burger Foundry at Torre nsville . All items were provided free of charge on behalf of Burger Foundry . Burger Foundry started as a small, m ainly takeaway shop o n Magill Road a few years a go and since then it has moved into a new larger s pace on the same road and recently, has added a second store on Henley Beach Road.  Signage Interior As we walk into the Torrensville store that opened in January 2015 we are i mpress ed with the design. The interior has a casual feel with a combination of individual dining tables as well as larger communal seating. Foundry Beer We start with some drinks while we wait for our burgers and sides. Mirko can't go past the Foundry Brew Beer (exclusive to the Torrensville store) which has a light flavour and does not overpower the palette. Peanut Butter Crunch Milkshake Amanda selects the Peanut Butter Crunch Milkshake. Milkshakes aren't normally something she gravitates to but on this occasion she is glad she did! Delicious! A creamy peanut butter flavour with a splash of chocolate was enjoyable and not too sickly sweet. A perfect way to line her stomach for burgers! Mirko had a bit of a taste of this and couldn't agree more. Definitely onto a winner here! Burgers (front) Onion Rings & Tater Tots (back) In order for us to try a few different types of burgers we are presented with 4 mini slider sized burgers. We decide to start with the Mighty Mushroom which is described as a field mushroom burger patty made with SA mushrooms, thyme, onions topped with thick tomato slices, sweet beetroot, aioli and rocket. This was both Amanda and Mirko's least favourite of the night as they thought it quite bland with an odd furry type texture. We then try the Rocky Mountain High which is described as a 100% Aussie Black Angus grilled meat patty with sweet caramelised onions, thick tomato slices, crispy smoked bacon, matured Cheddar cheese, aioli and rocket. This w

Nice take away burger joint - not sure if call it a restuarant.<br/>Burgers choices are for the most part simple but produce is fresh and of good quality.<br/>Hand cut chips were good - look forward to trying the tater tota next time.

Spent heaps on the fitout, but the burgers need some work. Had the 'mountain' burger- bun was too heavy, patty was dry and salads were measly. Will head down the Bay to Relish'd- better and cheaper but the fitout is not as fancy.
Wayne Ryan
Called for takeaway no answer. Went in and asked why no one answered<br/>"Yeah we're heaps busy and we've been getting smashed dude, who cares about the phone"......."well u should, you're a new business and all that's coming thru are take away orders....."??......"ah well, u ended up coming in so I guess anyone else will too". Arrogant much. How can a business survive by simply not answering a phone and having such arrogant smart mouthed staff. Won't be going back. You lost a local.
Anna Zinenko
Best burger in Adelaide. Thoroughly enjoyed my Texas. Spicy :)
Matt Reiner
Rocky Mountain High. The beef was big on flavour offset by some beautiful bacon. Loved it.

I was really looking forward to a good local burger place. Still hoping. <br/>The burger fillings are great. Unfortunately the bread roll let them down, as it is so thick and dense, it overtakes the taste of the burger. <br/>Use lighter weight rolls or better still - brioche buns. That will fix it. <br/>Secondly, $6.00 for six onion rings? Really??

Didn't enjoy the food at all, quality pretty average, stale bread, chips were overcooked, onion rings dripping oil everywhere and overpriced for what it is

Average -. Nice fitout. Confused atmosphere though, not sure that the hip design fits with the pumping pop music and cricket on the flat screens. Is it a sports bar, a cheap burger joint, or a hip burger place? I don't think it can successfully be all three at once.<br/><br/>Service was friendly but food was average, stale bun, cold / overcooked chips. Coffee was pretty average too. It's a new place though, maybe it will get better as they tighten things up over time.

Awesome Burgers. Just popped in for a quick lunch with friends, and i have fallen in love with Burger Foundry. The decor in the new shop is great, perfect for along the Henley beach Road strip. My burger, the Texan was perfect. I cant wait to go back and try more from the menu.
