Review The Pier - Townsville

Not the fine dining that we were expecting and that we basically paid for. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular and not worthy of the price. The noodles were a bit bland and slimy and the basquet was nice however it could have come exactly the same way from any fish and chips at half of the price. We seated outside and the light was so strong, it killed completely the night view and the atmosphere. The waiters were a bit slow and took ages to get our cocktails that were quite normal. Quite disapointed.

The location is awesome. Unfortunately The food is average, I had oysters and they were room temperature, prefer them cold. The barramundi main was dry and over cooked. The service was wonderful and friendly, although they do need more staff. The service was slow, but that wasn’t the fault of the staff, more so the lack of staff. The bar is simply stocked and therefore was only capable of a limited range of drinks. Prices are good. Overall the location demands more from a restaurant.

So it's Valentine's Day and I've made the ultimate unforgivable mistake . . . No dinner booking and it's our first v-day !!! Lily and the team managed to get us a table for two by the window over looking the water (great start). We had the four course meal and to say I was blown away with the standard of food and delicate palatable combination, would be an understatement ! Having heard "5 star" comments about the Pier and being a chef for some 20 years myself, I had high expectations for both the food and the service and those expectations were exceeded time and time again. The service is first class from the moment you arrive until the very moment you peel yourself away from the fantastic ambience they have created. The food is stunning, clearly a well seasoned and mature kitchen team whom not only understand the basis of creativity, but have thrived on perfecting the most simplest finishing touches to the wonderful array of menu choices. The Pier is truly a five star establishment and I would highly recommend it to any who appreciate quality food and service.

Our last night in Townsville was spent dining at The Pier. We had a lovely table on the decking with each of the tables nicely spaced. It has a beautiful view over the marina with the city lights and When we rocked up we asked if we could go out on the deck, staff moved us without a second thought. The drinks range were amazing and yummy. Food was amazing. But the wait staff, oh my, they totally made it. We were so impressed. So knowledgeable and helpful. Honestly the food and drinks were great, and the view was gorgeous. But post dinner all we could talk about was the amazing staff! Brilliant job guys!

We have been here twice now for special occasions and we can't fault it. The views are stunning, the staff are wonderful and friendly and the food is just unbelievable! My partner had the hot and cold seafood platter for one; best seafood he has ever had. They vegetarian options are great, have tried both the curry and the pasta now and I can't decide which one I like more. Please save room for dessert you will not be disappointed!

An excellent venue to dine at especially for treating a loved one. My friend and I selected here for our third anniversary and we're so happy we did. The food was well presented and the taste of the prepared sauces etc were to die for. The servings are food are also very generous for the quality of food. I received a huge rib for my meal with a baked potato and sauce with a few greens. We paid just under $140 and we both had an entree, main and dessert. If you're new to Townsville or just visiting I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The service was good but the food was a let down. We got a seafood chowder, would have been good to have some seafood in it and not just fish with a bone. The salad for main had no dressing. The seafood platter pricing should have reflected the quantity of the dish. We don't mind paying good money for good portions, but unfortunately we did not receive that. We are disappointed and won't be back.
