Review Kirwan Tavern - Townsville

A great place for dining in with the family. Good selection of meals, friendly staff. Highly recommend 👌 oh and delicious desserts to finish a meal off with too!

Very poor! Atmosphere is great. We ate at the main restaurant. Very poor service. I ordered at the counter. The person behind the counter was not very helpful, could not tell me the sizes of the crumbed steak or chicken dishes. Did not offer ice with glasses for a jug of water - I assumed this was a given. I ordered my family's 5 meals at the same time as the rest of our table of 16 people. My meals were forgotten and we had to ask for them as the rest of our table was finishing their meals. Very overpriced too. Not an overly impressive meal for the price that was paid. No rib eye over 200gm, but that price was $$. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I am not thrilled with giving 1 star either! .5 star would have been better

Great place for kids. But was better when it had a pool🤣 Good 400gm rump an pepper grave salad was on point.

The staff here are fantastic, very friendly and quick service. However we won't be back, the new ordering system is horrible. Such a shame we enjoyed our quiet lunch. Should also offer printed menus.

A rather disappointing establishment. The staff are great but management policies such as no printed menus and cyber ordering grates, especially with the predominantly older clientele. It's a perfect recipe for creating a failed business, and I would guess that maybe they have had Government handouts to keep staff during the covid process ??

Amazing service right from making the booking. The staff were so helpful, thank you Victoria, Matt, Immy, Sarah and Peo. The food was as amazing as the service, what a treat for my family. We will certainly be back, thank you so much Kirwan Tavern!

DO NOT GO HERE! quite literally the worst restaurant ive been to in my life. waited ages to be seated and it was quiet, the staff were just having a chat at the bar, the staff who by the way were the rudest people ive ever met. worst food ever and most ridiculous pricing. gave my brother in laws food poisoning. mcdonalds can do better. i work in hospitality and would be ashamed if to work here. do better

We love the Kirwan Tavern, where they always know you name. Victoria the manager is so lovely and always checks to be sure we have the best customer experience. She’s a keeper.

We went out for my birthday walked in was impressed by the menu so thought we would stay .went to order and the waitress kept repeating the wrong things we asked for and when she read it back three times still wrong finally that was done . Sat for over 40 minutes till our starters came out guess what of course it's wrong explained to the girl she questions us on it so showed her our docket .we had asked that our kids meal came out with all our meals pretty simple hey ummm no Another 40 minutes went past and our meals arrive and a oh we are sorry the kids meal wasn't made we are doing it now then came out ooops it's wrong not chips mash and veg easy to fix you would think ????? They bring it back out the mash tastes like reheated deb potatoes out of a packet and surprise half the vegetable not cooked they where raw , my 19 dollars seafood snitzel with what was suppose to be seafood with a creamy sauce was HEY guess what NO creamy sauce three prawns smothered in cheese definitely been kept warm under something as the prawns can't eat to tough and well no sauce just cheese melted on top and not even nice it tasted off , two of my girls couldn't eat there snitzels as they had been re heated and where as hard as nails and there chips had been cooked and reheated as well . Oh the best bit every time they asked what was wrong oh I'll get my manger to come address your concerns but no one came then we had a lovely waiter walk past ask what was wrong as we arnt eating my husband explains and shows him he's all apologises and he will go talk to them about it come back out and offers we have my meal refunded and perhaps a free drink We did not want free things just that no one else experiences what we had happen to us a family comes out spend over 140 on a meal they want it to be good or well even good enough to eat we asked could he take the meals back out and show them what it was like in the end we did say yes my money back on just my meal please would be okay and even though he was a nice guy after sitting waiting for another 20 minutes he never came back with it so yep in the end we walked out only half of one meal eaten out of the 6 we ordered. I am positive they forgot our meals people that walked in 30 Minutes after us had there meals way before us we kept watching thinking how long does it take to cook chicken snitzels . Between bar and meals 260 out of pocket but hey we all learn by our mistakes and I really do hope they learnt from us but I am sure they won't SO yep thanks Kirwan Tavern for a recking our birthday treat .

I've never waited so long for meal in my life. Over an hour and a half for a schnitzel. WTF? I will never be coming back and I recommend everyone avoids this place.

Do not rate the $10 Parma at all! Very disappointing! Highly recommend Casino $10 Parma 120% over Kirwan tavern!

Very poor customer service Tables who ordered well after mine received their meals first Ridiculous wait times for a simple chicken schnitzel Manager uninterested in dealing with customers or fixing complaints Will never bring my family here again - ruined my birthday dinner night, should have stayed home and cooked my own meal!! So disappointed...I do not want to be waiting over 2 hours for a basic pub meal when I have 3 children under the age of 5!

Meals took too long to come and we all were eating our food at different times. Sauce was coagulated and our schnitzels were dry also. People at our table got their meals an hour later after ordering and thats even when the restaurant was only half full. Very disappointing with our table of 12. I felt the cooks made our meals because they had to instead of cooking with some enthusiasm. Times are tough and when you spend your hard earned money on meals that you could of cooked better at home this restaurant needs a wake up call.

Awesome place all staff are always polite and helpful and makes you fell very welcomed highly recommended.

Good venue size, and seems to be well maintained. Comedy event I went to see was good fun. Staff were great. Beer Special was $5 Pints of Great Northern - Good Value. But, Food was a below average even for pub/tavern food. (Schnitzels were small and tasted of burnt oil, and the batter on the prawns wasn't fried through.)

Great food, meals were quick, great vibe and the staff were all so friendly. I definitely recommend checking out the Kirwan Tav

Drive thru staff are amazing 5 * ....too bad about your restaurant its gone so badly downhill will never go back

Enjoyable afternoon chilling in the pub drinking beer. Staff always friendly and the food is pretty good too.

Lovely staff, but have been for lunch recently and on both occasions, have had to wait. On the first occasion, over an hour for a wrap and chips (came out cold). And second occasion, 45mins for calamari (came out white and floppy, only ate 3 pieces). Left feeling very disappointed. Won't try again. Have been for dinner and enjoyed it so not sure why lunch time is so different.

Our weekly early morning BNI business meeting is served an amazing buffet breakfast, couldn't fault it. They even cater to my allergies and cook things seperately (and I would know if they didn't) for me. At this rediculous hour the staff are always bright and friendly and can't do enough for us. Very pleased with our choice of venue.

Very disappointed with our recent visit , have been going to the tavern for at least 20 yrs and recent visit was not good . Waited along time for meals , eg. 1hr . The meals were not to the standard , small and dry for the price you pay! And the tables and timber floor were filthy. Time to pick up your act Kirwan tavern , as for a Saturday night the place wasn't even busy !

Great food, great service, great place! Things have really turned around for this place.... And from what I hear, its about to get turned up entertainment wise as well! The area needs a lift so this is good news for everyone.
