Review Capitol Regent Restaurant - Townsville

Zack Ollington
Ordered a meal and found they had not followed our allergy instructions, called up and talked to a manager who advised us we would be able to come in for a replacement order. Turned up tonight for our replacement order and was told by another manager that it's not a full replacement and that what she says goes. Was abused and humiliated in front of a number of other customers. Ended up going to the one out in Deeragun and turned out to be a better meal and service.

Very nice feed and amazingly quick servive. Authentic smoky wok flavour. I like how it wasn't noisy. Thank you. We will definitely be back.

The short long soup had the tiniest morsel of pork in each of the wontons, the wontons were mostly dough. The soup was flavourless and the noodles bland, with only 3 measly pieces of bbq pork. What’s happened Capitol Regent Thuringowa? Very disappointed, an absolute rip off

So disappointed. Usually a decent feed but tonight I ordered the scallops and snowpeas and there are literally 10 of the saddest smallest little scallops in there. Paid $22 for a half full container.

Charged $1 each for takeaway containers. Had to call the restaurant to get someone to come to the table. Service was poor. Mongolian lamb was good though.

My beef dish was too salty when I requested a new dish with less salt. I was met with a cantankerous lady who just would not accept it’s salty. So rude. No refund with my dish.

First time visiting this restaurant and can't recommend it enough. I've tried Chinese everywhere in Townsville and have been so disappointed. But I think I've found a winner. Food was amazing and the service was even better. Our lovely server was so polite, food came out promptly and will definitely be back in the future

Hi we 3 people, went to lunch here, to celebrate my husbands 75th birthday recently.
What a totally disappointing experience it was. All of us were totally overwhelmed at how bad each of our dishes was. I had Honey Chicken, which is usually my favorite Chinese dish, along with fried rice and sweet and sour sauce and prawn chips.
Entree was Spring rolls. They were really good on the positive side of things so were the Prawn Chips and sweet and sour sauce.
But the Honey Chicken did not even resemble, any of this dish I had ever had before. It was just a plate of long dry batter with no taste what so ever. No chicken to be seen or tasted anywhere on the plate or in the batter. I ate it, only because I was hungry, and had, had to pay for it, as well as being brought up not to waste anything.
We weren't game to order dessert, we were scared as to what may come out.
David had Mongolian Lamb, he said it was tasteless and very greasy and oily, he was sadly disappointed.
Our sister had, what presented as a lovely dish with heaps of nice looking vegetables, unfortunately, it tasted so bad she couldn't eat it, and asked for a doggy bag to take home to feed her dog, that will eat absolutely anything.
The Restaurant has a very large menu.
But they definitely NEED a very new and very experienced GOOD COOK.
As this one was and is DREADFUL. We won't be back again until then.
Disappointed:- Cher, Dave, Nett.

I cannot get enough of the authentic Cantonese Chinese cuisine. I have never been disappointed! And I love that they are not totally perfect in everyway - it is just a great dining experience!

arrived to a almost empty restaurant at roughly 6:30pm. We were taken to a table and we ordered our meals. I ordered a sweet corn and chicken soup to start. It arrived in 5minutes or so, was salty still nice but salty. My plate was taken away and then the wait started, 40minutes later I asked the server if our meal was coming she said soon. The server arrived with two finger bowls ?? which we had no use for at all and asked her to take away. 45minutes from ordering our meals arrived, curried king prawns and vegetables and mixed sea food with vegetables, salt both meals unreal so much salt it was again still edible but salty, I would go back again maybe if I was over that way. the wait was the killer if the restaurant was full I'd just go somewhere else if I had something on after

Amazing food you get what you pay for especially the quantity. The staff are really helpful even though they were busy. The dim sums were slightly over done.

finally, a restaurant that's a bit close to home! we ordered long soup, hot and sour soup, braised crocodile with chili, garlic and coriander, canton chicken, steamed and fried rice. the serving size was big. i liked all the food especially my hot and aour soup. downside - fried rice was a little too oily for me. but, will come back!

Quick to greet, seat and serve.. This place was a quick dinner decision made by myself and friends,
we were snappily seated and offered the extensive menu along with the standard complimentary waters.
The menu offers a great range of starters, sharers, standard meals and specials I must say it was exciting for once to be in a Chinese establishment that didn't just throw away the standard fast-food or Chinese diner meals that leave you wondering what if.
I went with the Short soup, followed by the deep fried chicken in pepper sauce,
It was exactly what my indecisive tastebuds were looking for and they didn't even know it, and to be honest I wasn't really expecting to be wowed by this place as most Chinese restaurants seem like they are there purely for the gross profits, this one feels like it is trying to uphold the standards and branch out with its menu, good vibes inside aswell keep you keen on not being quick to judge.
would I go again? Of course, I'd go as far as saying my reputation as a rogue diner would be compromised by this place.
Well played Capital Regent.
