I had poached eggs with bacon and it came with an eggplant chutney, which was amazing! The staff were so friendly and accommodating with my little one. Highly recommend Pickle in the middle.
An ever changing menu catering for both the vegan and the carnivore! Absolutely delicious food and excellent service. No wonder it's our fave brunch spot in Adelaide!
Thanking the gods of food & caffeine that this is my local. LOVE the vibe, love the coffee, love the staff - and whenever I'm not eating the seed bread or satay bowl... I'm thinking about it. The care and attention that goes into their food/drink is obvious. No generic smashed avo here - actual creativity, flavour & flair. Thank you, guys! <3
These guys are fab - super accomodating and friendly. They'll let you study for as long as you need and accomodate all your needs in the meantime i.e. not interrupting you while you're focusing. The satay bowl is a must and the coffee is great too!
Pickle in the middle never ceases to amaze me. It starts with the exceptional menu. Always innovative, inspiring and so delicious. The service is always friendly, helpful and efficient!
Groovy vibe, awesome pickles and the best salted caramel brownies in Adelaide, I can't get enough!
When you want something different and healthy Pickle in the Middle is the place to go.
From the simple but delicious toastie to creative wholesome meals it's a great place to visit.
I recommend it to everyone!
The sardines were sublime. Fresh from Port Lincoln. Yummy. PITM has a truly unique menu. 4 of us had different breakfast options and all were great. Staff are knowledgable and friendly. Best breakfast i have had out in a long time. 5 port lincoln sardines out of 5.
Pickle in the Middle is one of those all rounder eateries; faultless food, great vibes and passionate staff. Their homemade ethos is what sets them apart and I can never go past the Beetroot Cured Salmon, it's that good! And let's not forget about the Shrubs, some of the best drinks going around!
Deliciously unique breakfast fare, friendly and prompt service, and great coffee...a total win!
The food was amazing and although it was crazy busy the staff were lovely, friendly and efficient! This will definitely be one of our regulars 😃
Have been a few times, the staff have always been very friendly and I got a fab spot by the window to eat my gourmet pickle toastie! Was really yummy
This place is my happy place! The coffee is amazing, the staff make you feel so welcome and the food is delish! There's nowhere like it in Adelaide. The pickle and cheese toastie (made with their house made parmesan crusted bread) is ridiculously good!
Had lunch with a couple of friends - food was delicious and the hot chocolate divine! Staff were really friendly too
I went there on Sunday afternoon with some friends and my two year old son. My two year old had his heart set on hot chips, which Pickle in the Middle do not serve. Upon hearing this the guy serving us gave my son a free biscuit, which was so kind and a worthy substitute for hot chips in the eyes of my son ;) Such a kind and unnecessary gesture, but so appreciated.
I ordered the beetroot and sweet potato soup, which was really delicious and well priced. All in all, a great experience. Thanks for the delicious food and great customer service.
The food & coffee here are always fantastic. The Pickle Toasty is seriously incredible (and addictive)! Locally owned, and the staff are always a joy.
Just moved into the area and am checking out all the local foody hangouts! Came here after a full on morning assembling ikea furniture so was starving. The mushroom and grits, and smashed avo with halloumi hit the spot! Flavourful and quickly prepared. Definitely will be back to try the coffee.
Nice little cafe, with a simple menu that packs a punch. The salmon bowl was perfect start on a hot day and their French toast was nice and light and not overly sweet.
Their gingerbread latte was delish!
We checked this place out because my other half loves sardines on toast. We came here for brunch on a weekday and already the place is busy. We chose to sit at the stool. I really don't mind that, I do enjoy people watching. The staff were friendly which is always a bonus for a good experience. We had a large skinny flat white to share. I didn't feel like drinking one cup as I already had one before coming in. As for the coffee, we forgot to ask what coffee blend they used. I'm assuming the Monday's coffee beans. I had it before and unfortunately, I am not a fan of floral coffee note. But if you are, I am sure you will enjoy it. I opted for the mushroom and grits and we also had the sardines on toast. I must admit, I didn't enjoy my mushroom and grit as much, some of the mushroom pieces were dry and didn't have sauce on it. As for the sardines, now this was a star dish and I highly recommend for you to try it. We will come back for that sardines on toast for sure.
I wasn’t expecting too much to be honest but it wasn’t my choice to go. I had a look at the menu online and couldn’t spot much meat nor any booze.
I’ll admit, I’m not much of a kale and quinoa kind of person.
I ended up having a great cold coffee and a special of the day Asian salad with added smoked chicken. The salad was pretty good. Could have had a more robust dressing. The smoked chicken was the best I’ve ever had! Superb!
Plus, I found they do have booze after all.
Service was hard to find sometimes but pleasant. It’s quite noisy and could do with some sound absorbing artwork.
I’ll be back and please have more of that chicken!
Breakfast fast good. The in house relish is awesome and every else goos to but the eggs. They didnt even ask how we wanted then cook just assumed. One was ok but the other yolk was hard. Bit disappointed in that but coffee was great and so was the cookie. I come back but jist make sure to tell then before they walk away how you want your eggs
The service was fantastic. I had an 11 month old that would not sit still, and I was given some free rice crackers for her. The food was good, not a huge range of options, unfortunately all the poached eggs on three plates were overcooked. I did accept an offer of a new one, my friends did not want to wait.
This is my favourite place to go when I'm in Unley. The first time I went here I had the Buckwheat pancakes and I am very sad that they no longer have them on their menu 😭 (please bring back the pancakes)
However, their unique sandwiches are delicious and they are a must try!
There are vegan options available too.
We stumbled across pickle in the middle accidentally one morning when realising our usual breakfast cafe was shut. Looking for something new we went in and was seated at the large circular table by the front door.
Cute decor and great food choices. The cutlery is a little odd and I would've probably preferred one of the tables along the side of the wall instead but, their food is outstanding.
Plus I also had two coffees because the first one was just that good.
This little find is now one of our favourites, their food is divine and their relishes are their specialities.
Amazing friendly staff, great coffee that's always consistent, caters to vegan and vegetarian options as well as having meat options available, all of the options are very fresh and healthy.
Quirky decor. Annoying cutlery. Uncomfortable chairs/stools. Service is okay but could be better. However, the food is to die for. Have been 4 times for breakfast. My daughter had the Granola Bowl and the Chai Smoothie and loved both. My other daughter had poached eggs on wheat and rye sourdough with a side of homemade hash browns. The eggplant relish is particularly yum. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
The coffee ($3.8) and tumeric tonic ($6.5) were amazing. Unfortunately the food wasn't as great as the creative menu. As a lover of salt (I load it on everything) the winter greens bowl ($16) was almost too salty to eat. The leeks were wonderfully sweet so the dish has amazing potential if they reduced the salt. maybe it was a one time thing? The toastie was nice ($12)
We organized a brunch catch up and this cute cafe located on Unley Road. No bookings allowed but it was a quick wait for a table for 3. Food was so delicious, the waffles with mascarpone and orange were so tasty, crisp and light and just a perfect size. The cheese and pickle toastie was also a hit. The fresh red juice was refreshing and the hot chocolate was bitter and warm, perfect for a cold winter day. Wait staff were very attentive and polite and their selection of sweet treats looked super delicious, especially the Kingston biscuit and chocolate brownie. Breakfast is served all day which is great and lunch service started at 11am. I'd go back for sure.
Foodie from Melbourne. Really enjoyed this place after a hangover, thanks Radelaide.
Form Fritters with Kangaroo Mettwurst (Sausage), coffee was also great.
Leaving good impressions of Adelaide food scene on me.
Great fit-out allowing enough space for prams (as a new mum it's something I have to look for now). Also a great menu offering something for everyone- I had the granola bowl, my husband the eggs on toast. He's a simple foods kinda guy but they looked delicious, and my dish was also delicious (especially with the addition of the ginger syrup). Coffee was good, so good we made sure to have a second one before we left. Would come here again to try more of their mouth watering menu :)
Wonderful food and atmosphere! Ordered the pancakes and my boyfriend ordered the Chia bowl, Both were incredible! The service was fast and our waiter was lovely, will definitely be coming back soon!
A great little brunch spot. The food is all made from scratch and so fresh. I especially enjoyed the house made eggplant relish and beetroot cured salmon. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly too. The place is small but bright and inviting with really friendly service. Will return :)
The food was delicious and the feel of the cafe it very on trend. My partner had their Pancakes and I had the Chia Bowl and both were plate scraping good! The staff were polite but they were a bit slack at waiting on us. After our meal we wanted to get a coffee and took 15 minutes before anyone came and collected our plates and asked us if we wanted anything else. The cafe isn't big and leaving customers waiting shouldn't happen in a small cafe.
My husband and I eat at Pickle in the Middle a couple of times a week. I've never eaten something from there that I didn't love, all the food is beautifully balanced, healthy and fresh with super clever flavour combos. It's so nice to leave a café with a happy feeling in your belly instead of feeling sluggish and gross. And it's so refreshing to find somewhere that caters to all kinds of dietary requirements!!! Lovely staff, great coffee, yay!

Pickle in the Middle, doesn't the name sound pretty? I certainly think so. It is a beautiful cafe located on Unley Road. As you know there are quite a few cafes down that way, but what catches the eyes is the bright yellow paint on the exterior. The cafe itself is not very small. The majority of the seating is inside, with a couple of tables and chairs just outside.

Amazing cafe with delicious meals. The staff was extremely friendly and fast service. The soy latte was amazing chocolate nutty flavor. The dish was well presented and came out fast for a small kitchen.
I can't believe how long it took me to get to this place. It's hip, it's cool, it's refreshing and I could eat everything - well close enough to. Be prepared for what may seem like a weird mixture of flavours. Like soy sauce on salad? But hey it works...really well. The food is on point and the staff were willing to change up my meal to suit my dietary requirements. It's definitely a hipster haunt with limited and slightly awkward seating, art house deco, and vegan brownies. I would like to come back some time soon.
My first time at Pickle on the Middle today and the brekky was great. Poached KI eggs on sourdough with a delish eggplant pickle and a side of spicy baked beans. Coffee by d'angelo was excellent and service friendly and efficient will definitely become a fave of mine
Pickle in the Middle is pretty hard to miss with its bright yellow deco. Once inside, you are welcome into a light airy space by the jovial and friendly staffs. We ordered the iced Vietnamese coffee and an iced latte. Both were just what we needed to beat the heat. I did found the iced Vietnamese coffee a tad too sweet but if you love your condensed milk, this is for you. Food-wise, I enjoyed my Breakfast Greens with a side of avo, the dish had a crunchiness to it that really lifted the dish from good to great. My partner however didn't really liked his chicken Toast in the Middle as the bread was too dry for his liking. A bit more sauce or dressing would have gave it much more flavour. We did get food envy looking at the Cheese and Pickles toastie on the table opposite us, the melting cheese looked heavenly. On the way out, I had to try their baked goods and settled on a Monte Carlo. I'm never one to complain about cookies - I did enjoyed it - but the cream to jam ratio was a bit off, definitely could used a bit more jam and less cream.
I genuinely was in a pickle deciding what to order. Everything looked fabulous. Good was fresh and full of flavours and herbs. All dishes were incredibly well balanced. We had the breakfast greens, corn fritters and two of the tartines. The home made seed bread was amazing. Looking forward to coming back to try more
I wish I could teleport to this place everytime I feel hungry! The food was AMAZEBALLS! Staff incredibly attentive and friendly. And I loved the funky design using timber and nice bright yellow colour! I wish I could come more often!
Pleasantly surprised by the healthy but delicious tasting Bibim Bowl. Usually I'd prefer some sort of meat in my meals and dun like vegetarian, but I found the healthy bowl of Bibim Bowl very satisfying. Would come back to try others on the menu.
Good food, decent coffee. They'll have to maintain their standards of they're going to compete with A Mothers Milk across the street but based on my one visit so far, they'll be strong competition.
Breakfast items were interesting and tasty. The vibe and decor is a nice place and it's in a great location for a weekend brunch. Prices are on par with any other cafe in Adelaide.
Macca's cheeseburger and creepy pickle jars have unanimously given pickles a bad rep. But Unley Road's cafe Pickle in the Middle says no more. Boasting a cleaneating-esque menu all under $18, alty staff and even pickling workshops, this bright & modern eatery may be your newest get up. The lentil + seed crispbread was amazing; crunchy, healthy and you could taste the subtle seed flavours while the boiled egg was cooked to perfection. I'd prefer the salmon non beet-cured but hey it's something different, overall a pretty fresh, rad meal at a quintessentially pickly hangout.
Nice healthy wholesome food. Interesting mix on a lot of the food, and nice and guilt free healthy choices. My new favourite! Will be recommending to all my homies 😁
It sure is a dilly of a place that I have been to and enjoyed eating food and drinking coffee pickle. A friend recommended I head here and because they're food recommendations are normally woeful I said no. But they said trust me on this one and then I said yes. It was a good idea to say yes.
Clean, crisp and inviting, Pickle in the Middle just had a nice vibe about it. Just lovely. Dynamite. The buckwheat pancakes with cream and compote tickled my fancy by george they tasted tops. Not toon sweet, I feel this place has a bit of a healthy, think about what you eat focus without coming across as, do it or be done with you. Coffee was also a bigs thumbs up.
I am actually a bit sad I haven't been back yet so whilst writing this review I now know what I am going to be doing tomorrow. Say hey if you see me. You can see the back of me on my profile picture but I basically look the same from the front.
The buckwheat pancakes with stewed rhubarb, honeycomb and whipped yoghurt were lovely and the yoghurt meant that they were not too sweet like cafe pancakes often are. Good drink selection but the apple green tea was quite strange tasting, I don't think it had much of a green apple edge. The cucumber soda and banana smoothie are both worth a try though. Eggs on toast are really good with beautiful sourdough bread and an eggplant relish. Love the four seeds brownies too!
Loved my pickle and cheese toastie. Good coffee. Lovely cute cafe. Will be going back for sure.
Always a good option, good atmosphere without being tight and swishy, can accommodate prams which is great and the coffee and food is very good.
Went here after a bad experience at another cafe in the area and was not disappointed. Quick to get a seat even with the place being busy, service was friendly and food came out quickly. Lots of vegan options, yay! I had the "Orange" juice (turmeric, ginger, carrot orange and lemon) which was well balanced. Partners brussel sprout salad was delicious. Highly recommend and will return.
Brilliant cafe with a deliciously unique menu. After having a bad experience elsewhere this morning, we went to Pickle In The Middle as it had been on our wishlist for some time. There was a waiting list but we were seated within a few minutes. We shared the crispy Brussels sprouts salad, hot turmeric, lemon and ginger juice and the 'orange' juice. We were not disappointed!
The salad was one of the best meals I've ever ordered - the balance of flavours was excellent. It would have been perfect if there was a squeeze of lemon so next time I'll ask for a wedge.
The staff were lovely and the restaurant was nice and spacious but not sparse.
The only downside was that there were some menu items on the wall but they weren't actually available anymore - they should take down the old menu items as I was looking forward to ordering one of them. Still, my second choice was so good that I didn't care so much.
Can't wait to go back!
This was my first time at pickle in the middle and I have to say it won't be my last!! I had the pancakes and the crispy Brussel salad and it was delicious!! I particularly liked the fact that they make almost everything on the menu. Great place to get a healthy but interesting meal. Thanks guys!!
I thought Pickle in the Middle was a really lovely place. On Unley road, nearly directly across from Mother's Milk, it is a refreshing little daytime cafe in an otherwise dinner dominated strip.
The atmosphere is bright & modern, the staff were lovely and eager to help. I caught up with a friend here and we both ordered the EXACT same thing, the corned beef focaccia (home made) and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Because, condensed milk.
We had a great time there! The orders came out fairly quickly and was quite tasty, however I felt it would have been better as more of a 'doorstop' rather than a closed sandwich as the focaccia (whilst delicous) overwhelmed the other ingredients & I ended up eating the lid of the focaccia separately.
A great little place to meet up and a lovely addition to Unley road!
Pickle in the Middle manages to find that perfect balance between showing the customer the perfect amount of attention without being 'in your face'. The service is spot on. Friendly, intelligent, and welcoming. So many established venues around Adelaide need to get along to pickle in the middle to learn how to properly treat a customer. On the first visit I was treated like an old friend. The food? Excellent. One of Adelaides best breakfasts that I have come across. The venue? Good ambience, great music, lighting and furniture on trend and modern. The home made baked goods on the counter? Get on board. Indulge and forget the calorie counting for a few minutes. The coffee? I drink a lot of coffee. The short black I enjoyed would have to be a top 3 contender for this state. I will spread the word guys. Well done.
Hmmm yes I like it. Simple, stylish and clean dishes that are well defined, flavour wise.
more of a delicate treat breakfast, rather than a big, dirty hangover brekky.
Pops deluxe. My first breKfast out in Adelaide. My android fortuitously took me to Pickle.
All I would say is do yourself a favour and go there, order the eggs and let Kara sort you out with th sides
Friendly staff, quick service, delicious coffee & excellent healthy food. I had the chia bowl, which was nice but I would suggest adding some extra flavour like vanilla bean & cinnamon. My partner had the zucchini pickle toastie & really liked it.
An Unley Rd Treat!. This place is amazing. Service was fast and really good, food was delicious and coffee too. I had eggs on toast and my friend had a chia bowl, both really yummy. 10/10 will go here again!
Skip the "milk" store across. Wow... Just wow. Amazing food, exceptional service. It's just so lovely to find such a gem of a place. I WILL be back for sure. Maybe even tomorrow.
Strong Pickle Game. I've been trying to suss out somewhere to go on Unley, the service at most places on unley is sooo awkward so often.
Pickle in the middle defies this. The guy with the beard was really friendly and the man at the counter was equally professional.
I had the salmon and a shake, both were good. The salmon was exceptional and unique in it's flavours. Far above the quality that the rest of Unley holds. It's also priced well.
I've recommended this place to friends, and I do to you too.
A little slow on service but generally pretty impressed! Breakfast was well constructed simple dishes with fresh flavours! Prices were very reasonable compared to the neighbouring cafes! Will definitely be back to try the lunch menu!
Rare to see new places like this opening up... One of the freshest, most simple and flavoursome breakfasts I have had in a long time. Definitely worth trying.. Coffee was also amazing. Had poached eggs on toast with all added extras. Just awesome. Give it a go!
New kid on the block. This new kid on the block is smartly decked out with modern fresh clean lines of decor. The staff are friendly and quick to serve. The food was quick to come albeit a cheese sandwich and grain salad. Could have been my tastebuds, though I felt all dishes were just missing an edge or fullness on flavour. The cheese and pickle sandwich was small in size for the $12 paid, maybe 10 x14cm in size with a two cherry tomato garnish/salad. It was flavoursome; the grain salad was that, with a boiled egg on top ( $2 extra for egg - expected a poached egg). A turmeric and ginger juice was ordered, flavours were there but the drink too watery so diluted the focus of the ingredients. The coffees were very good....D'Angelo beans a sure winner. Sweet treats might be a hero....tasty chocolate and salted brownie....great tooth sinking texture, satisfied the senses for a brownie fiend..and a wafer thin grain and choc chip biscuit.
I will go back but will let the place settle in, after all it has only just opened. And it was great to see it being well patronised :)
Nice place for a light brunch, some dishes have an asian vibe to it which provides a point of difference for an adelaide breaky. friendly staff/chic setup/yummy brownies/good coffee
absolutely gorgeous on the inside. A place with so much character. Our server was amazing, always making sure that we were well taken care of! Absolutely obsessed. 10/10 would recommend the Cheese and Pickle Toasties. The bread and the pickles together were an amazing combo. Would definitely come here and get this again!
A beautiful place to have a decent breakfast. The staff is very lovely and friendly. The specials are also something not to be missed while you’re there. Take your time enjoying a cup of coffee. Lovely place.
Located along unley rd, pickle in the middle in one of my favourite stops for coffees and food. The ambience and decor inside is lovely and staff is always friendly and polite when greeting customers. I especially love how the chais are served with the little pouring cup. Our waitress was lovely to talk to and food arrived very quickly. Such a lovely experience and i will definitely be coming again soon!
Due to COVID, we had to call to reserve a table first. Only a second after my call ended, I received a text message to confirm booking our table.
Upon arrival, the staff showed us our table. There's a little spot for kids to play or read a book.
The food arrived relatively quickly, and the food quality was fantastic. The coffee was great. There were some jams and paste to buy that I am tempted to buy next time I go there. I didn't ask, but they appeared to be homemade possibly.
The staff was so friendly. When I asked one of the waitresses a question, she actually walked across the table and stood beside me to answer my question. That's incredible. I hadn't seen such behavior in many cafes. She showed that she genuinely cared about a customer's question.
All in all, this place is a must to go depending on you, to either grab a takeaway coffee or chillax inside.
Amazing brunch, great coffee and friendly staff !
Lovely breakfast, great price, not a big menu, but it was quality 😋
You can't go wrong with Pickle in the Middle - this place is consistently great! 😃
The menu is reasonably broad, enough in there for every palette and dietary requirement, with tasty options for everyone. I've had the Reuben here before and it was outstanding, but for a lighter option the falafel bowl was packed with zesty veggies and some really crispy falafel balls. 🥒🍛
A good combo all round which will have you full enough but capable of not falling asleep back at your desk!
The joint is pretty popular, so you might have to wait but totally worth it.
It's vibrant, the staff friendly and you'll feel good about the experience. Great coffee, too if you just want something quick. ☕
Great service, good coffee, lovely brekky with lots of custom options. Nice atmosphere. Parking isn't great and it's easy to miss driving past but still definitely a good spot to be!
