Been here twice. Once at the from we’re we ordered a soup and a few side dishes and most recently at the back for the bbq buffet.
Buffet was good, plenty to choose from in terms of meat and lots of sashimi. Always fun to cook your own meat and marinated flavour was good
Came here craving some good japanese food. Had been here before a couple years earlier and had a great experience. Unfortunately this time we found the food just to be "okay". Entrees were good, we ordered fried chicken and aburi sushi. The chicken was juicy and coated in a nice crunchy batter. The let down was our tonkatsu pork main, the meat was overcooked and dry.
The service was great, the lady was very friendly and attentive. However I was a bit horrified to find the chopsticks had lost a lot of their varnish coating and were cracked and chipped in lots of places - they desperately needed replacing for both hygiene and presentation reasons
Brought my brother here from interstate however was underwhelmed at the quality of food.
Sushi was bland and rice for the sushi was cold and dry and was not pleasant.
Nasu dengaku, the eggplant was cooked well however miso was minimal and lacking in flavour. Beef tataki was like inconsistent slices of meat with little to no caramelisation and seasoning on a bed of dressed greens. Tempura, the actual tempura was cooked perfectly but dipping sauce lacked flavour.
Only faultless dish was the teriyaki chicken for the kids.
Also another drawback was the condition of the furniture, mainly the seats. The PU leather was worn and peeling off.
It seems as though their attention has been diverted to the all you can eat buffet in the rear and the al a carte front has been left with little to no attention.
Shame as I would’ve return had it not been for this experience.
We were recently invited to Ginza Japanese Restaurant at Unley to try their new menu. Having been a recommendation from friends, we visited several times before so this wasn't our first time to Ginza. .....
Went on a cold Sunday evening, with wife and son's. Mackerel was very good, takudon was huge, sashimi very good. Youngest would have liked more chicken with his chicken noodles. Service reasonable. Happy to return another day.
ATTENTION, lovers of Japanese cuisine! Adelaide’s beloved Japanese restaurant Ginza Unley has introduced a selection of brand new authentic dishes to tantalise your tastebuds, including the likes of roasted duck, beef tataki, tenderloin steak and more. The Adelaidian visited recently to sample the new menu, which just so happened to be the same day Co-Editor Mel was celebrating her 22nd birthday. Turns out Ginza Unley was the perfect location for an indulgent birthday dinner.
There are two sections of the restaurant. One is the "normal" dining section where you order dishes off the menu, and a BBQ section at the back
I would rate the "normal" dining section a 3.5, we had dinner as a group of 6 and 4 of them had enjoyed their meals. Definitely not recommended for vegetarians though, the only vegetarian main they had was deep fried veggies which were super oily. Same complaint also goes for some of the other meat dishes (can't remember the name but it was deep fried of some sort).
The BBQ section is amazing. I love how they decorated the place and there's a wide variety of food. It's also good value for money. The pork belly is simply mouth watering❤️ will rate this section 4.5.
I have always wanted to visit Ginza Japanese Restaurant, which is situated in a busy strip on Unley Road. With its minimalistic décor, ample natural lighting, and friendly staff service, it’s little surprise that Ginza has gained a reputation of being one of the relaxed yet sophisticated Japanese restaurants that is ideal for wining and dining. Also known for their level of authenticity, Ginza is a great place to kick start those taste buds and truly enjoy and appreciate Japanese cuisine at its finest.
Always such good value for money! Delicious and Service is always good, the meat is always fresh. Ventilation could be better, be prepared to smell like like delicious bbq'd meat when you leave! Love this place, especially fun if you're a big group!
Unley Road has become a regular haunt for us and our visit to Ginza Japanese Restaurant at 48 Unley Road, Unley was another one ticked off the list. We purchased a coupon voucher to dine here offering a choice of an Entree, Main and Dessert each along with a glas of wine. It's definitely great value and a way to test the waters of any restaurant you're trying for the first time.

We had shabu shabu seafood buffet and it was delicious. Seafood and meat were on point, as well as their veg and sashimi. I think $50 per person is too expensive, especially for someone with small appetite. Their green tea ice cream for dessert wasn't that good: I couldn't taste the green tea flavour at all. The atmosphere was comfortable, not too noisy when we were there: there wasn't many people (surprisingly for a friday night). Staffs were really friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back again.

Good food on a voucher. The food is nice and the portions were big but quite salty so it needed rice to balance the flavours. However the rice wasn't included, we ordered a bowl but it was minuscule and wasn't enough for even one. The sashimis entrees were really good. The pork tonkatsu was a bit dry but the chicken teriyaki really tasty. Overall a nice experience and we would come back.
I came here with my mum using a groupon voucher for dishes from the al a carte menu. It was value for money but the mains were so salty. I think each dish definitely needed some rice to help even out the flavour.
We have been coming here for years now.. Had the $29.95 BBQ buffet and it was once again incredible. The customer service is second to none! We ordered many of the sides and they all compliment the seafood and meats that you cook yourself. To compliment it we had fruit and green tea ice cream to cap it off. On leaving we had a saki with the owner and left with positive vibes. Do yourself a favour and try the Ginza experience! I'd give it a 10 if if the app allowed me!
Always here for the unlimited Japanese BBQ, and it always has been a great and fun experience. The amount of selection on the menu is terrific, and i honestly think the $30 menu is good enough to satisfy majority of people. Each meat is cooked under burning charcoal and this really brought out a unique taste from the the meat. The sides they offer is also great, especially their takoyaki. This is probably one of my favourite dishes and i usually order heaps every time i go.
However, i am not a big fan of their ordering system. The staff is quite smart with their food, and they would take a longer time if your order is quite big. In the beginning, the food comes out quite quickly after each order, but as time goes on, they start taking their time or forgetting your orders, or say they are out of stock although they still distribute that dish to other tables. A tip we found out though, is that its best to order a little at a time, and you'll most likely get your dish before times up. We once ordered as a group, and that dish took over to come, and another time we ordered less each time and they took around 10 minutes to come out.
Ginza Japanese Restaurant, a really good place for gathering with friends. The environment is great for socializing, although your clothes will stink for a while with all that charcoal burning in your face for two hours. Other than that, if anyone is thinking of a place to chill with friends and have some solid food and drinks, come on down to Unley and find Ginza.
Weekday lunch we ordered a sashimi platter, oysters, miso soup, octopus ball and a sushi platter. Excellent quality, fresh seafood and good service. Highly Recommend.
Seafood Buffett absolutely damn amazing!! Staff super friendly!! Slushie machine is really nice too. Seafood is fresh and yummy, I will be back for sure
Food heaven. Just had the most fantastic meal, friendly service and great atmosphere. Only second time dining here, this will become a regular stop in!
Good hotpot and seafood buffet. Went to other Ginza Miyako in the city, been re commanded to try this one by my friend. Wow, the shabu shabu with the seafood buffet is so far the favorite. Oysters are so fresh and the staff show me how to make the "secret sauce", yummmmy! I have to say! The hotpot's good too, tasty but not heavy makes me feel healthier even eating a lot. Very reasonable price for what we got~
YUMMY. More types of sushi would be good... but either way i still enjoy this place every time.. good service!
The BBQ all you can eat is the way to go!!!! Make sure you haven't eaten too much during the day & go cook yourself some delicious meat the way you like it. It's lots of fun & great with a group of people.
Absolute Delight.. love this place.. come back time and time again
OK, but didn't quite hit the spot.. A quiet Monday night for a family birthday celebration and we were reasonably well looked after with quality food, but it still didn't quite hit the spot. The food is well prepared and the service was quick but detached. Yes, that's it, it was 'cold'. Not in temperature but in atmosphere. The bill also brought a shiver to my wallet, but I was sort of expecting that. Perhaps it would be a more enjoyable experience on a busier night. I don't think we will rush back to find out.
Great food, large variety and love the green tea ice cream
I went there for the first time last night and took my mother out to dinner, I must say I was on absolute awe of the beautiful decor and overwhelmed by the friendly and helpful staff and just flabbergasted by the wonderful tasty food, not to mention the variety of food as well. I would definitely go back again and would recommend it to anyone who would listen, thus is now my new favourite restaurant and the most pleasant dining experience I've ever had, thank u ginza for being wonderful hosts
Shabu Shabu baby. First time at Ginza tonight. We were drawn by the all you can eat shabu shabu and sushi offer. Shabu shabu for those who don't know, is thinly sliced beef you cook yourself by waving it through a boiling broth, which is also cooking vegetables and noodles. Mrs T is Japanese and I lived there for 8+ years so when we have a craving for Japanese food it must be answered. It was pretty good (for Adelaide). The beef was supposed to be wagyu, and might have been Aussie wagyu, but didn't have the marbled fat and subsequent softness of true Japanese wagyu. Sushi and sashimi were good. A choice of tuna or kingfish, we had both, twice. Hey, it's all you can eat right ! We also tried the vege croquette and the fried scallop. Yum. A great selection of sake on offer. Two types of icecream was the only dessert on offer for this course, but hey, all you can eat for $50 pp isn't bad when it involves beef & sashimi. The atmosphere out the back where they host the all you can eat is great, I found it quite authentic in a rustic way. Service was OK and friendly. We will surely be back.
Great food, but the slow service and attitude need some work.
Fairly priced, greatly flavoured! The pork belly in miso soup was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Highly recommend to order a few different entres as the are all taste completely different. We will be returning!
Delicious!. Had the BBQ meal here for dinner the other day. It was really good. Will recommend this place. Service was excellent too!
Love it!. I have had both the hotpot and BBQ here and I loved them both! A fun dining experience and would be great with many people, splitting the bill would be fuss-free!
We had the All You Can Eat BBQ and it was amazing! It's so much better than the other all you can eat bbqs around. The food is so much fresher and there is a far bigger variety - all you can eat gyoza, noodles, rice, tofu, meat, seafood (inc scallops), kimchi, green tea ice cream and heaps more.. it's my new favourite! Plus the staff are lovely and very accommodating... We will be back very soon!
My friend and I came here to celebrate her birthday on a quiet night at the restaurant. We ordered teriyaki chicken sushi roll, aburi salmon roll, salmon sashimi, tempera prawn soba noodle, takoyaki, and drinks. And of course we failed to finish everything in the end. Out of everything, the highlight for me was actually the sushi rice. It's seriously some of the 'fluffiest', most pillowy rice I've had. I'd say it's worth getting here even if you've had (duh) sushi before.
My favourite from the night was the aburi salmon roll but then aburi salmon rarely disappoints.
The staff were attentive. It was, overall, an enjoyable experience. I heard the back does Korean BBQ.
Like their BBQ. Used to like their front dinning, but quality has gone down lately.
BBB...Bargain BBQ Buffet!
From Sunday - Thursday $29 will get you an all you can eat BBQ
+ starters & sides.
Scallops and fillet beef were favourites on the grill, sushi very pleasing with the highlight was a very tasty side of salmon potato salad.
Good food, great value, we'll be back.
We did the 29.90 all you can eat buffet today and would just like to say it was amazing. The service, atmosphere, price and quality of food was more then we expected. We were treated kindly and I loved how the workers looked like they genuinely enjoyed their work smiles everywhere. Fast and friendly service and at one time.. one of the ladies was walking around with my 4 month old and showing her off hehe cute. :)
Loved it - great hot pots :). Went there last Friday - Mum and I had the seafood hot pot and my husband the chicken hot pot. My brother had tempura... can't remember what dad had but all in all was AWESOME!!! Especially the hotpots, so much food, we almost had to roll home and tasted absolutely yum! Am so going back :)

Service here is pretty nice. I have been here several times now and it's been good everytime. They have a back area where you can relax or a formal dining at the front. Sometimes the food may take a while to come out but it's worth the wait.
What more can you want from a japanese restaurant?! Great food, especially the sushi, and service!!! Will definently be coming back soon.
We go there regularly with friends who also know about Japanese food, because we've all spent a lot of time in Japan. We cannot fault the authentic food, although sometimes the service could be a bit more professional.
We travelled over an hour to eat at Ginza for the first time last night and we were well rewarded. After frequenting most of Adelaide's other Japanese restaurants, we were fairly well versed in what this cuisine had to offer throughout the city. Ginza exceeded expectations and has raised the bar for the Japanese cuisine fraternity.
Food is outstandingly fresh and clean while staff and service are impeccable.
Ginza is now on our frequent diner list.
Devine. Returned after first visit was with voucher and just as good, soft shell crab with finely diced salad was to die for, as was the teryaki chicken, hubby had croquettes which were lovely and crispy and then just melted once bitten in to, fried pork was also good. The accompaniments definately compliment and are just as pleasing, normally not bothered by the salads, but these were very tasty. Service was outstanding and this is definately now one of our favourites.
Bought the spreet voucher, and the lunch menu was not bad, good value for money considering you still get the dinner voucher, will go again
