Delicious food, so much flavour! Very friendly service, we will be back again.
After I read Sherry Lin’s review, I was shocked about the bad experience that she had. While we had something to do around the area, dropped indoor a dinner and checked it out. Maybe it was the effect of the negative report, the staff and the owner gave us a warm greeting upon our arrival. During the current impact of local business by Corona Virus, it is unsurprised to be the only dine-in table last night; however it did have reasonable take away orders.
We ordered the kimchi and pork hot pot, beef rib hot pot and kimchi pancake. Well, they serve the best kimchi pancake in Brisbane and both hot pots delivered their own characteristic taste. Portion was passable but taste and those five side dishes compensated the discrepancy. Not a bad experience.

great side dishes! And excellent Korean flavours in all the food. we had pork bone soup and stir fry squid, and both came with rice and 6 side dishes to share (the picked chilli's and squid strips were Soo good).
friendly service. good value. good selection of traditional Korean food.
With the cold, foggy and rainy winter that we've been having lately, there's nothing better than to warm up with some Spicy Korean BBQ. Having driven through Kessels Road on the way to Garden City, Shik Gaek's big KBBQ sign definitely caught my eye. Adding it to my list, I had meant to eventually try it out sometime in the next two months. Luckily for me, the perfect opportunity came last week, and we went to try it out on Saturday night.
Went there for a second time and took photos of the menu :)
Very quiet for a Sunday night normal dinner time. I think because of the secluded location and dark area around it. All shops in that shopping complex are closed at dinner time.
It is the best korean BBQ that I have found in Brisbane so far an
This place is nestled in the corner of what seems a near derelict shopping strip just around the corner from garden city. After seeing there were no reviews on zomato I thought I would give it a go. The staff were friendly and menu easy to choose from..
The kimchi selection here is amazing. The food is what you would get if you went to visit a Korean farm. Plenty of homemade taste here. All the different kimchi panchon prepared on premises. Nice family vibe at this place. The bibimbap is the best I've tasted in Brisbane in a long time.. Easy parking... update... 4th time now and it's still the best in Brisbane
Cozy and great place! The lovely boss is like my mom. She is always really nice to me. When I'm here, I can feel like I'm in my home. They serve lots of Korean home-style side dishes. There're so many Korean restaurant in Brisbane, but I didn't see like this place. Almost everything is like the taste my mom cook. BBQ menu costs pretty much but also really great!
Delicious food and friendly warm service! Great flavours and plenty of fresh ingredients. Just perfect. Definitely worth a special trip to eat here!
Home-made side dishes were great and the BBQ was delicious - really fresh meat and prices pretty much on par with other places in Brisbane, but the value here is definitely higher. The food overall seemed authentic (no fusion, classic flavours) and when we went it was a good sign that everyone there was Korean! Service was friendly and great - you do have to ask for things sometimes but they are more than willing to help!
We went there today around lunchtime to do take-away for some Korean dishes (so, not the BBQ). I found the meals very reasonably priced (15 $ for a main course) - in some of the other reviews it was said it's expensive (did that apply to the BBQ maybe? I didn't check those costs). We didn't have to wait long for our meals even though we had ordered in total about 7 main courses and some side dishes to feed two families. The food was very delicious and a welcome change from other take-away foods that we get often (Thai, Indian, Mexican). I'll definitely go back there and try more of their dishes. (Perhaps one draw-back is that the number of choices for non-meat dishes was a bit small.)
Edit one week later: we have been back to this place, this time we had the BBQ. It was a great evening, the food was lovely, easy to cook at our table, the condiments and side dishes great. It is very reasonably priced in my opinion, very affordable. The owner who doubles up as the chef and waitress (I think) was super friendly! - The only small drawback is that for the BBQ you have to sit on their verandah and that's quite close to a main road which is noisy. But when you have a good conversation you quickly forget about the traffic noise (we were there on a Tuesday evening; at other times it might be quieter).
This is by far the best korean bar b q restaurant my partner and I have been!! Their serving is massive. The meat taste great, you can really tell it is a good quality meat. Plus, side dishes were homemade and heaps of variety to choose from. Excellent customer service by friendly staff. Undeniably worthwhile experience. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family.
