Review Su Life Vegetarian Restaurant - Upper Mt Gravatt

Quirky little restaurant. Quite small with a familiar feel to it. Don't come here looking for a romantic, high class, fine dining evening. Come here if you want really good Vegetarian Chinese food. They use the mock meats very well. The menu is quite exhaustive, I ended up asking the proprietor for tips. She did not let me down by the way. I had a simple one plate dish of Japanese Style Curry with Rice and a crumbed cutlet (Veg) and some type of Veg Sausage. It was good. I was hungry when I ordered and also got Salt & Pepper Tofu which was excellent. There was too much for me and I took a bunch home for next day. I look forward to returning.

For entrée I ordered the satay soya 'chicken' skewer- wow delicious! Awesome. My main was the 3 cups fried tofu in ginger herbal sauce...so tasty. I wish I lived closer I'd make it my regular! Definitely go there people fantastic food great prices.

Su Life is a tiny little hole in the wall with a MASSIVE vegan menu. There is so much to choose from that sometimes I spend a good 15-30mins trying to decide what I want. Have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Recently introduced some friends here and they were blown away by the food and can't believe they have never come here before. If you are vegan, you must pay this place a visit. One dish I highly recommend is the mock "honey chicken" soooo good. They also have soy bubble tea but unfortunately rarely have the tapioca "bubbles" available (Su Life staff, please please please make these more available!). Great place, highly recommended.

A hidden gem! I wish I had known about this restaurant few years ago. Love the fried rice with mock meat and dumplings and freshly squeezed juices. However there have been times when we went to eat and it was shut. So check the opening times before you visit

Me, my partner and 2 year old son ordered $55 worth of food, expecting to get a real feast, because we ordered about 5 dishes. Instead what we got was TINY portions, and bland tasteless watered down food, the soups and "laksa" we're so watered down and only had about three brown pieces of carrot, and bok choy in it, they skimp on mock meat and fill the dishes up with either water or noodles. Really disappointed. The chef was also running late so we had to wait nearly an hour for our food which is a nightmare when you have a two year old. Definitely not going back.

Love this place! Great asian vegan and vegetarian dishes menu and the staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of mock meat options (duck and sugarloaf is a favorite) as well as high veggie options. If you are vegan and looking for tasty meals try this

Offering good selections of chinese food in vegetarian form (e.g. with fake 'duck' and 'fish' made from vegetarian subsititues). The service is pleasant and fast. Prices are comparable to Asian meals in Sunnybank/Market Square. This is worth checking out for any Vegetarians stuffed of options in Brisbane.

I'm an unapologetic omnivore but I'm more than happy to indulge in some meatless cuisine; and this place is excellent. I've actually come to prefer their vegetarian dishes to the regular Chinese fare in my area.

Everything I've ordered has been very fresh and very tasty. The spicy crispy 'chicken' even had my die-hard, vegetable loathing boyfriend fooled. Also a godsend when vegan friends come round and we need to navigate the potentially rocky waters of choosing a dinner option that everyone can (and actually wants) to eat.

I'm very lazy and fairly antisocial though, so I'm deducting .5 because they aren't teed up with an online ordering/delivery service currently. Frankly driving 10 minutes down the road to pick up food really is a huge inconvenience. I feel that being able to order food without leaving the house or having to interact with another human being is arguably our greatest human accomplishment (thus far), sincerely hoping these guys get on the trolley soon.

Excellent food very tasty. Amazing customer service. And also for all the pokemon go fans. There is a poke stop here. Wow. You can enjoy the delicious food and play POKEMON at the same time. I caught a rare pokemon here

The food was quite tasty and up to the standard of typical asian vegetarian food. The only issue i had was the service. We came along on a Sunday at lunch time, and the shop was very short staffed. There was only one person doing all the front jobs - handling the register, cleaning the tables and bringing out the food to customers. You can kind of imagine the feel when there were 4 or 5 full tables with only one waiter. Another problem with this was the incorrect order being taken out to us. I honestly don't blame the girl who was "run off her feet", but it is definitely a better idea to hire more staff. This also impacted on the wait time for customers.

I really enjoy coming here for lunch or dinner it's has such a great menu from the foods I have eaten they have all been very tasty, the service is average maybe need to be a little bit more friendly but over all it's a great place!

The family here are lovely and always greet my partner and I with a warm smile.
This is by far my favourite place to eat. From their cool One Piece figurine collections to their amazing food,

It's a hit and miss with their dishes, some are packed full of flavour and others are not. To be safe, I recommend avoiding soup-like dishes. My personal favourites are the sweet and sour ribs (number one, favourite mock meat dish... ever!), pan fried dumplings, salted fibre chicken, the bento boxes, marinated protein meat, taro fingers and their bubble teas! The soy honeydew with pearls and soy taro with pearls are top notch!

Vegetarian and vegan options available. All the items I listed above are vegan friendly.

Dined in this place last week during my Veg day. It was the first to be there and found that there are lots of dishes offering on the menu. It is a Taiwanese vegetarian restaurant and different from Pu Kwong who are using more mock meats. Su Life uses fresh ingredients to prepare vegetarian dishes with different cuisines including Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese etc. Overall experience was good and certainly will be back to revisit.

Overpriced, mediocre food and horrible service! Will not come back.. Went with a group of 9 for dinner recently. Very disappointed to say the least.

We ordered the dishes by numbers on the menu, thought that was the easiest option with a group of English speaking friends and the waitress who took the order had no problems with that. However, 10/15 minutes later, she came back and told us that she had to confirm our order and told us that her boss did not trust that she got the number right - we waited all that time for nothing and it was just weird. We could not help but wonder how hard it is to match what they had displayed on their menu???

We ordered about 9 dishes and rice, food was mediocre as most dishes tasted the same. The nicer dish was the eggplant but all in all expensive for what it was.

The worst thing was that when we asked for the bill we got charged $27 for rice because contrary to the norm, they charged rice by the bowl and not by the bucket - fair enough if we got told but we did not. We even asked them before we ordered whether rice was charged by the person and the waitress confirmed yes!!! When we complained, the waitress and who appeared to be the shop owner only attributed the issue with miscommunication and no apology at all.

Worst of all = the waitress said that "there are 9 of you so that is ok right?" - this is not a matter of how much we pay as a person but we felt overcharged and they justify it by that reasoning?

Needless to say we will not be coming back and would not recommend anyone to come. Horrible experience.

Incredible Asian Vegetarian Cuisine!. Absolutely love this place. I have gone here at least four times in the last six weeks. Really tasty food (always fresh, never greasy), the best satay 'chicken' skewers in Brisbane, and fast, friendly service. A+ bubble tea (comes in massive beer jugs) and great pricing too. Definitely recommend the spicy, crispy 'chicken' as a main.

Recommended for both real vegetarians n meat lovers. Food are tasty. Staff are friendly. Menu is unclear. Loads of English mistakes even on the restaurant name card grrrr.....

Undecided. This place wasn't bad, but it wasn't fantastic either. The menu was a little difficult to understand as it was poorly written and had numerous mistakes. The menu is mostly fake meat dishes. While the meals we tried didn't actually taste bad, they were dripping in oil and sauces, and were way too salty. On the plus side, it's incredibly cheap, so you won't feel ripped off even if you don't enjoy your meal!

Mmmm, yum. I took my two teenage children to this little, basic restaurant whilst we were on a one night trip to Brisbane. We went mostly on the recommendation of all the reviews here, and we were not disappointed. Although we seemed to have been eating all day, we still managed to have the Spicy Crispy Chicken (my son was hesitant because he doesn't even like the idea of mock meats, but one bite of this and he realised it had no texture or flavour of meat) It was so sweet, but it was so delicious! We kept saying that we couldn't have one more mouthful, but managed to keep stuffing it in.

We also had the pancake - the most unusual flavour, something I have never tasted before was in this (but yummy) - the fried dumplings, spring rolls, 2 green apple green teas, a couple of other things and it all came to only $54. Go to this lovely friendly place even if you aren't vegetarian/vegan. So worth the drive from the city.

Great Food!. Great little place! Staff are very friendly and attentive and you never wait long for a meal. Really really tasty food, I love the assortment of mushroom dishes they have, they also have some really different stuff that you can't get anywhere else. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! Soups can be a little bland at times but i just flavour them up with s splash of soy and their fresh chilli sauce, Yum Yum!

Really great food, especially the Sweet Potato/Taro roll (entre) and Spicy Crispy "Chicken" which was outstanding. Minor language barrier but staff were still super friendly. Will definitely return. Also, good pricing. We stuffed ourselves overly full for $52 for two big eaters.

Had the laksa. Smiling and friendly service, good food - we'll come back!

Delicious!. My vegan partner and I had dinner here last night and we were both very impressed. All the food was delicious, especially the Spicy Crispy "Chicken", which tasted amazing. We will definitely be coming back again to try some other things on the menu.

Su Life. As a non-vegetarian I found the food amazing. The squid and ribs were highlights. The service is terrible, could be cultural reasons for this but will definitely be back.

First vegetarian restaurant!. Okay.. So you could say after 8 years of being vegetarian, I was a little excited to go have some lunch at my first vege restaurant with my new veg friend and our veg kids..

I will be honest the place itself a tad cramped, especially when you have three young children in tow. However, the staff, were lovely and very forgiving of the rowdy bunch we had. My friend had ordered a bbq platter in advance of us arriving and it was great! 4 sorts of vegetarian options on one plate for only $15.00.

The mains were a small let down, I believe I had fibre chicken (veg chicken of course!)? Which to me tasted somewhat like cereal, though some people may like that.. My son had noodles, which looked a little like a black bean stirfry, I was not a fan of that one either, but my son seemed to enjoy it.

I will absolutely go back again, I loved the bbq plate, we had two on the day and I would try another main. I went back to get a bbq platter on Wed, but they were closed :( Seems that is the only day they are closed though. I can't wait to try another dish though, it was very hard to decide on the day and I am sure the next main will be the one for me ;)

Friendly Staff, Great Food. We popped in to the Su Life one Saturday lunch time and were impressed. A family group (the owner among them) called out greetings as we walked in and service was prompt. The Bento was amazing - very cutely presented and every morsel delicious. Will definitely return.

Delightful & Tasty Asian Vegetarian. Su Life is a great new vegetarian/vegan restaurant! There's quite a number of vegetarian restaurants on the Southside, but I think this one would be on the top of the list for me! The dishes are absolutely tasty!

The place offers varieties of Asian style vegetarian food: from Dumplings, to Laksa & Tom Yum, and even Japanese Bento boxes! I went with some colleagues (all but one, were meat eaters) and they all enjoyed it!

Some of my favourite dishes that I would definitely order again would be the Pancake, Spicy Ho Tou Mushrooms & Eggplant in Vegetarian Oyster Sauce.

I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

It also offers BYO for those who like their alcohol. Their drink menu is just the standard soft drinks and tea.

They boast an impressive menu with dishes influenced by all corners of Asia – Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian, Taiwanese just to name a few. The first time visiting here, Dad and I ordered: Three Cup Eggplant – sweet, sticky and salty eggplants with a hint of fresh Asian basil. Sweet and Sour Mushrooms Lemon Soy Protein ‘Chicken’ Salt and Pepper Mushrooms Braised Tofu and Vegetables – light and comforting meal of warm soft tofu and vegetables. More recently, we visited here again and the food was even more impressive. We ordered: Vegetarian Char Kway Teow – stir-fried flat rice noodles with vegetables in a delicious soy sauce. Taro Bowl of Stir-fried Vegetables – a crispy bowl of t

I heard there was a new vegetarian restaurant on the Southside, called "Su Life". And the rumours flying around were that it was the restaurant formerly known as Huo Fo! We ventured in, and I recognised the staff immediately - or should I say they recognised me!

It is good to venture and try something different. Overall, good Asian vegetarian food!
