One of my favourite ramen soup in town. Broth was really delicious yet not too oily and their chasiu also super succulent. I usually ordered extra chasiu for more satisfaction. Price still reasonable let alone they have free refill noodle.
Tonkotsu is my greatest favourite among all ramen soup variations first of all. Having said that, I love this place not because of my personal preference, but because of their authenticity. I find that their ramen is just like the one we can enjoy when we visit Japan. The flavour of soup, texture of noodles, tenderness of chashu etc... everything is authentic :)
Love this place! My favourite is the ten don, where it is a simple meal of rice flavoured with ramen broth, pickled vegetables and seaweed with pork. Gyoza is pretty good too. Service is fast as you would expect a fast food joint to be and the taste is good. Not pricey for a hearty meal.
One of the best ramens i've tried in Brisbane! The broth is delicious and complements the pork and noodles perfectly! For $13 I always order the char siu with ramen which is always very hearty and filling. Moreso you can order extra noodles free of charge if you're still hungry after eating the initial bowl you've ordered. The ambience is quite dark and best for eating by yourself or one other person as it is quite a small eating area.
edit: recently revisited this branch for my birthday to receive my free ramen on my birthday. the rules must have changed as I was only allowed to order the most basic item on the menu otherwise had to pay extra. I’m not sure if they recently implemented this rule but just keep that in mind if you’re visiting hakataya for your free birthday food.
I really liked the ramen here, especially the broth that it came in. It wasn't oily and salty which seems to be my typical experience. The service was really fast which is always a plus. I would definitely come here again.
What can I say.... this is arguably the best ramen in brisbane and I am addicted!! The broth is perfect and really, you can't go wrong with their free noodle refills... it always gets slurped down too! 😋😋
Best ramen in Australia! We tried a few different ramen restaurants and we think hakataya is still the best. Never disappoint you! Highly recommended!
Goes without saying the ramen is delicious, reliable and cheap. Taking orders is efficient. Getting a kaedama like any of these sorts of Ramen places can be a bit hard if you are timid. The staff are usually powering on so they may not walk near you. Being a little more assertive and asking at the counter might be easiest.
This is one of the Southside branches that has some more spacious outdoor seating, most suitable for prams.
It's nice they seem to provide kids bowls and also scissors which is convenient. I wish they also provided high chairs though. Or chairs with backs so our toddler can sit safely.
One of the best ramen joints in Brisbane with consistency. Affordable, not overpriced and we always leave the place full! - oh. Free top up of noodles too. Winner winner
Hakataya has expanded so quickly in the last few years. Thanks to their great tasting ramen and consistency of the product delivered. You can be sure that whichever branch you visit, your ramen will always tastes and looks the same.
The menu is small but they do it really well and the price is very reasonable too. The soup is good. The noodle is good. One free extra noodle (Kaedama pronounced Kah-eh-dah-ma) is available upon request. But for your own sake, don't rush getting it because the noodles can get cold or turn into a giant lump before you get to it and the chef will always make Kaedama their first priority anyway.
We always dump the whole Takana (pickled vegetable) and Pickled Ginger in with the ramen to add flavour to the soup. Our favourites; Miso Spicy Men with extra Charsiu, Shio Spicy Men, and Gyoza.

Pretty awesome ramen for reasonable prices. Great to watch them prepare and cook your meal while you wait, and one free ramen refill which just hits the spot. Soup base is excellent and ramen cooked perfectly for both rounds. Friendly staff, very fast service, and clean place to dine. Next to Woolworths inside Westfield Garden City shopping center, worth the walk even if you're parked on the other side. Will return again!
Tried 3 outlets and must say that Hakataya serves affordable and delicious ramen in Brisbane. I like the soup base and the service is good.
If you can take spicy, it would be good try the Shio-Spicy Ramen.
My favourite comfort food. Also $3.50 Gyoza what more could you ask for?!?. First time I discovered this place, I was curious to try their ramen and was attracted by the decor of the shop. It's a little establishment with such an authentic Japanese feel. You can either sit in the bar and face the chef (which is my favourite spot to sit as it makes asking for extra noodles easy.), on a small table in the middle of the shop or at the booths that face the wall. All the ramens are quite similar in broth (which is excusable as you can tell how much prep goes into the broth by the delicious taste) and if you get one of the more expensive ones they either add a spicy paste, spicy miso paste or extra pork.
Did I mention, free extra noodles! Also this Hakataya Ramen has a deal for 6 Pork Gyoza for $3.50! The gyoza are always delicious and filling and such a bargain for $3.50, when you get the same from Fantasia for $7.50. Anyway, back to the ramen. The broth is salty and oh so porky. It's absolutely delicious. In the store there are chilli oil pourers, sesame seed grinders and chilli powder shakers for you to get the perfect taste you like. The pork they put in the ramen is so tender and delicious. It just melts in your mouth. The ramen is nice and firm and absorbs the broth beautifully.
The presentation is always impeccable, The dine in gyoza doesn't look too fancy but it's extremely excusable for the price.
Next time you're in Garden city, head to Hakataya Ramen, on the right or Woolworths next to the flower shop and stuff yourself with delicious ramen!
I've been to this restaurant 3 times, BEST RAMEN! It's my fav place to go. I love it! Will always go back!
YUM!. Slow service, but absolutely yum!
This was delicious. I'm not a ramen expert but the noodles were yummy and the soup was very tasty! Fast service and helpful staff.
I loved the service =] the food was good and I had a satisfying feed with my mum. Won't hesitate to drop by more often for a feed
The anticipated BEST JAPANESE RAMEN Hakataya has opened another restaurant at Westfield Garden City on last Friday! It is located right outside of Woolies on the top floor where Bakers Delight used to be. On the first three days of opening they gave out free ramen to everyone! I was so excited and tried to persuade Mr F to go for the free ramen but I know it would be super tricky to queue for hours with an impatient toddler. Last Saturday we went to Garden City for Christmas Shopping then unintentionally we walked pass this little noodle shop, and there was a massive queue with tonnes of people (and it was just around 10:30am in the morning!). In fact their opening ceremony was about to start so we stayed with the crowd to watch the traditional Chinese lion dance . Since we didn’t make it to the free ramen day I was so eager to try out the new ramen shop on another night. The restaurant was very tiny (as expected, like the squeezy Market Square shop, though the Sunny
