Review Anchors Wharf - Urunga

Phoenix Rises
A beautiful afternoon evening spot that you simply must visit. Stunning river views, a delightful menu filled with enjoyment and friendly quirky staff. Nice wine selection and decadent sweets to finish the experience. I personally recommend the seafood platter or the garlic seafood mornay. You can't go wrong

A lovely location, good menu. I stopped in for a ‘quick’ takeaway lunch, ordered a burger eventually & then I waited a good 30 minutes Once I got the food it was of great quality & flavour. It seams as though the team had no system or flow as they were all running around looking busy but nothing was getting done there was no one at the counter & only a few eat-in customers. I’d love to go back & eat in to see if it is a better experience as I believe they are worth the extra star but for takeaway it was not a good experience

Food was nice, except I asked for a my steak med to well done and got a steak that was chewy and bloody, got a sorry from waitress which wasn't her fault as she didn't try to cook it, I would have thought maybe they would offer a voucher for next time for a steak or at least a discount for the under cooked steak , but got a no. Very disappointing on your birthday lunch.

Brilliant meal and the only place so far in NSW that can fry a fish right..., nothing overcooked or dried..., prefect lads and very well enjoyed..., thank you. We hired a boat and got the family out on the Kalang River and experienced Unrunga in another way..., was a great treat for us all. Coffee was also delightfully delicious. Thanks again

The scallops in Seafood mornay sauce were nicely presented on flat shells in a bed of salt, and you could choose whether to have 4 or 6, so great for the small eater. They were lovely

Talk about an awful lunchtime dining experience today. I suggest to my friend that we eat at Anchors Wharf today instead of one of the delightful Bellingen cafes we would normally go to. What a mistake. The restaurant wasn't busy on our arrival at 12 and wasn't really busy for the time we were there. We were greeted with "sit where you want". We sat on the deck and started our conversation. We were then asked about drinks and as we hadn't been given a menu at this point we asked for water. A menu was then "dumped" on the table by a very unpleasant waitress and nothing more explained. We ordered, soft shell crab tacos, chilli salt calamari (main size), chocolate milkshake and iced coffee. The drinks and meals were delivered promptly. As soon as the meals were delivered it was noticed the calamari was a small serve on top of a small salad and no chips. It was alerted to staff and although they were going to take the meal and change it, my friend felt awkward as I had my meal there and told them it would be ok. The waitress then offered to get my friend a basket of chips, which was appreciated. My tacos were nice, although more soft shell crab and less coleslaw and avocado would have been nicer. My friend did enjoy her calamari. We had a nice lunch. Most of the problems occurred when we went to pay. After going through 5 other tables orders and us both saying "no, that's not our order" the waitress finally got to our order. My friend was charged for the "main" size meal instead of what she got "entree size". We questioned the charge and the server advised us that with the chips it would be nearly the same amount (we thought the chips were complimentary after their mistake). My friend calmly questioned it again and advised no more calamari was added, so how could it be the same as a main? The cashier/server/waitress then got very aggressive and angry and started saying, "it's not my fault", "I didn't serve you", and challenging us on our questioning. I suggested that her customer service was not very good and getting angry and aggressive with us was appropriate. She kept saying "what's wrong with my customer service". I asked then for manager details (which were not given) so I could put a compliant in and she "go on then get me sacked. Oh well it's only Urunga, what do I care". Hardly an appropriate conversation for customers of the restaurant. I would like to contact the manager and complain about what could have been a lovely lunch and what turned into a horrible experience and I won't be returning anytime soon and wouldn't be recommending Anchors Wharf. It's a shame, great location, possibility of a great restaurant, just need better staff (I have been here numerous times).

We had the best service, best wine which complimented the seafood (suggested by tbe owner) and the best seafood platter we have ever had.....and we have had our share of seafood platters. We will be back again in the future.

The seafood chowder is simply the best on the coast - may have to wait for the winter menu for it to return. Plenty of other choices on the menu with friendly staff to look after you - Thanks Denise and Steve for your hospitality

Wouldn't recommend it if it was the last place on earth to go expensive and shit food takeaway doesn't do any good takeaway and what kind of place that sells hot chips doesn't do gravy

Food was lovely but over priced, staff leave a lot to be desired. We were one of only three tables that night and just where not attend to well enough. Dunks order stuff up completely many times over. Cherry ripe cheese cake was to die for....

A big shoutout to Anchors Wharf who catered for my sisters wedding last Saturday. The food was amazing, the service was out of this world and they couldn't be any more helpful. Thankyou for making Roxy and Matts day run extremely smoothly. The setting and relaxed costal atmosphere was a delight. We couldn't have asked for any more!

We had a seafood platter for one to share which was just enough for the two of us though we did manage to fit in a Mars Bar cheesecake for my husband and I had a half of the lemon merengue cheesecake. Everything was just perfect. Thank you
