Lovely coffee at a great spot with nice food and an amazing team, Impeccable customer service! Would highly recommend this place (my go to joint coffee place during fun times at uni)

First time we came here today on Mother's Day. Amazing staff (Rafa) was so friendly, caring and attentive. My kids adored him. He offered them colouring in stencils straight away. Food was perfect and atmosphere was great! Will be our new fav cafe to dine at! Kid friendly and lots of space. Thanks so much!
One of the best cafes I've been to on the Cold Coast. Love the staff and the food. I always tell people if they are looking for somewhere good to have breakfast or lunch to visit the Blackboard in varsity. If I didn't work I would be there everyday

Great service, haven't had service that good in a long time. Food was amazing. Foods not cheap but it's worth it as you get such high quality service, great tunes and beautiful venue.

Brilliant service , it had great Chai Latte and bought home some amazing doughnuts , worth every cent ! I wish they had smaller portions for someone like me ! The brekky looked amazing but the portions were too large for me .

Great atmosphere and food! I live in a foodie town in Northern Michigan with lots of Cafe's and Blackboard is still one of my favorites!
Really wanted to leave a 5 star review but service was lacking. Waitresses were friendly but not attentive. It was hard to get anyone's attention. Scrambled eggs were fantastic. Pretty much faultless as far as scrambled eggs go. Chocolate muffin was a let down. Probably would've been great warmed up but I didn't want to go through the hassle of flagging someone down.
Came for a late lunch on a weekday and was amazed by how busy it was. Set a few turns from Bond University is this gem of a cafe. Had the Ragu (pictured) with deep fried egg and sourdough. Fantastic dish for winter washed down with a solid coffee. Recommended!

I come from Melbourne and literally Blackboard can be crowned as having the best coffee in Gold Coast! I haven’t tried their food yet but their menu looks mint! Staff are too friendly and nice
The coffee here has quality with its own unique taste. The barista is definitely skillful and detailed in brewing, not careless even at early morning 6.30am. The milk froth for latte is a letdown though.
I ordered the Wild Mushrooms. The dish was simplistic however a larger portion size and potentially a variation in texture would be more desired. Lovely service and location. Not a fan of the soda water.

Food good, service good and certainly one of the better places for breakfast around here. But, and it is big but for me, having only one place to pay that also does the takeaway coffee slows things down easy to much of you have sinned in and want to pay any go quickly
I was in varsity lakes for a course for 10 days recently. I went for breakfast/ coffee nearly every day during my stay. I got addicted to the good coffee friendly staff and the many choices of delicious breakfast.. the cherry on top of the cake was the sparkling water 😂 I was really impressed... hope they move to Brisbane...

Love coming to Blackboard for a coffee and cronut before Uni. Great staff, great coffee. The food is also awesome, it's dog friendly so you can bring your pooch as well.
Great atmosphere. Great coffee. Ordered the lamb kofta and Thai chicken burger. Both pretty good my pick was the burger it was excellent. Nice touch offering sparkling water over still water. Would come here again.
Let's get this straight, this place is about coffee. So I'll rate the coffee 5/5. Can't say that for many places on the Gold Coast. Want a great coffee and a slightly overpriced tasty breakfast, don't think twice.
Pang, another friend and I had brunch here just now. The food and the coffee are too good and absolutely worth the price. I would especially recommend the coffee here to those caffeine lovers out there when you guys visit Gold Coast one day 🤗
Heavenly food, excellent environment and service. I'm never a fan of breakfast/brunch since its so pricey but this was totally worth it. My friends and I ordered the buttermilk pancake, eggs benedict (uses thick hash brown instead of the usual sourdough, and an extra add on of a whole soft shell crab for $3!!!!!! TAKE MY MONEY) and wild mushrooms with crispy potatoes. Pancake was slightly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside (so this is how a pancake should be like eh). My eggs ben was The Bomb, no elaboration needed. Crispy potatoes were well flavoured as well. Coffee was good all round. The menu does change from time to time. Oh and the table water served is sparkling. I'd rate 5 for the food I had, best breakfast yet.
I can't wait to go back here again. My meal was excellent, the service was quick and the environment was pleasant.
There are two sections, one for seating and one for take away coffees and doughnuts. I ordered the wild mushroom meal and sat at bar top bench and so I had the pleasure of looking out over the water. The presentation was just gorgeous on my meal. There was sprinkling of cheese over the top that really gave a delicious creaminess to the dish as well.
Every item that came out from the kitchen not only looked beautiful but from the smiles on everyone's faces, seemed to taste delicious as well.
I will be definitely going back and tasting more on the menu!
When I started seeing those oozy-plumpy-syringed cronuts, I knew I had to go down and have one, or maybe two.. Blackboard Specialty Coffee is located in the suburbs of Varsity Lakes, humbly located near the Bond University campus serving their specialty coffee with their famous cronuts, also a few food items on their menu. A simple interior, a relaxed atmosphere, a bakery is there too for any takeaways on any sweets or sandwiches, wooden tables, white tiled walls, even their waiters were laid-back.
I love the kale salad with poached egg in here & the coffee's always delicious. The staff are very friendly and a great relaxed vibe. Always changing there take out options too which is great. Bring back the bagel!

I'm a regular & for good reason!. CARAMEL SALTED DONUTS is all I should say. These have become a weekly tradition among my friends! I tell people far and wide of blackboards desserts, good coffee, fresh food and impeccable service.

Amazing food, a bit expensive. The food here is great....the cheeseburger is insanely good, the cabinet food is always fresh and interesting - something new to try. For coffee, they make some of the best on the coast I think. It can be really expensive though. The place is really big, airy and open. Near the lake, although you cant really see it from where you're siting. Parking is usually easy to find too.

Converted. They converted me from latte to AeroPress and I'm disappointed everywhere I go now, if AeroPress (or similar) is not offered. Also converted me from refined sugar to panela - which travels with me. Pain au chocolate and almond croissants always follow us home, after a delicious breakfast.
Had lunch here today. Great food and service. Will certainly return!

Diana. Wow the coffee here is just great. A laid back little spot near the uni so gets pretty noisy & busy busy! Coffee is single origin & is smooth with a lingering mouth feel. The food looks exceptionally good too so is on my hit list for brekky next time we are in the area which hopefully will not be too far away.

Blackboard is one of the best coffee experiences on the Coast, second to none. With strong Melbourne influence and culture weaved into this little delicassy, the Blackboard experience is a must. The coffee is fresh and made with a lot of love. These guys love coffee and this is the difference , compared to commercialized coffee shops. The food is made fresh right in front of you. Try the raspberry & dark chocolate muffin as well as the sourdough sandwiches.

A little love in every cup. You know when a movie is talked up and you go see it only to be disappointed? Well blackboard is the opposite of that. With many people talking about this coffee spot it really raised my expectation and I have to say those expectations were exceeded. Young passionate baristas making beautiful coffee and placing emphasis on creating each cup with care. Love it.

What I love about this place is their emphasis on fresh, wholesome, local produce and uniquely sourced coffee. Every time we come here, they always surprise us with something new for breakfast and their coffees are always highly recommended. They are a flourishing seedling in the cafe niche with plenty more growth left. This particular occasion Red Macaron had the Farmer’s breakfast, whereas I had the Gardener’s breakfast – well seasoned eggs, fresh avocados, earthy mushrooms and crisp sourdough. Let the freshness sing! The Bircher’s muesli is a regular of mine – crisp apple, juicy berries, toasted nuts and coconut topped with organic yoghurt. Red Macaron has also had the Angler’s breakfast – gorgeous Dukkah coated salmon, poached eggs, spinach and fresh sourdough. On a lovely weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting a friend on the Gold Coast with several others, and we stopped by Blackboard Specialty Coffee. This spacious rustic cafe located near the Bond University campus serves predominantly their specialty coffee, with just a few food items on the side. We made a special visit to try their bottled iced coffee made with maple syrup , which gives the coffee just a light hint of fragrance and sweetness. The coffee was decent, as they work with Cup Coffee in West End...
I’m a regular at Blackboard Specialty Coffee. I think that says it all. For all you coffee lovers out there – Blackboard is the place to be! They also have simple, but amazing food!
Nick talks blends as a chef talks ingredients or a sommelier talks wine. He’s way too smart for school, with coffee wisdom way beyond his years, so it’s ironic really that he’s still a student!
...should be titled "Coffee" because there isn't really all that much going on in terms of food.
I suppose when the word “syringe” come to mind, one often associates it with either drugs or medical treatments and both are obnoxious. But when it comes to Blackboard Coffee, you will find the sight of syringes delightful. I know I did. Let me tell you, those two sweet treats were totes amazeballs (I think that's what the cool kids say these days?)!!!
The staff are true coffee lovers, laid-back and friendly. Our server even plonked himself at the end of our table and drank his espresso whilst taking our order. Is there a word out there for coffee sommelier?
Grilled dukkah salmon came with roasted beetroot, spinach, and goat’s cheese on sourdough with a wedge of lemon on the side for squeezing. This was fresh, and the salmon cooked perfectly.

There is no greater sense of panic than entering a cafe and desperately scanning its cake display counter from behind the queue at the coffee counter. We arrive at lunchtime only to realise that all the donuts were sold out for the day. One cannot describe the disappointment on our crestfallen faces. Buttermilk pancake, maple pecan butter and caramelised pecans $18 with crispy pancetta $3 Suze finds consolation in the buttermilk pancakes , freshly made and strewn with caramelised pecans and rivers of maple pecan butter. The real star of the show is the crispy pancetta , super thin and rendered of fat so it tastes more like crackling with every bite.
