Review Stanley Bridge Tavern - Verdun

Such an inconspicuous looking place from the road, but we went here on a recommendation. The food far exceeded our expectations. Very friendly service too. Definitely on Purist of places to visit in the hills.

Was driving by and stopped on a whim for lunch! Great active fireplace cosying the place on entry, menu selections promising. I settled on the steak, done medium to perfection, with anchovy butter, chips and tangy salad. Squid was fine too, as was the wine. And not outlandishly expensive either. Wait staff were sharp ... all in all, quite the delight.

Amazing service. Amazing steak. Beautiful grounds. All round a fantastic place to stop for a bite and a drink. I was impressed and would recommend.

Cheeky little way to spend my day off. As always a beautiful setting to sit and enjoy a tasty bottle of recommended wine from Matt. Put on your list to visit gastro pub with warm and friendly staff. The closest you will get to France on a Tuesday.

This place is AWESOME! Anyone who is in the hills, get your butt on one of their seats and get a meal down you because this is one of the best little pubs I've ever been to. The service is fantastic, the drinks are nice and cold and the food... oh my the food is next level good. The parmigiana was out of this world good, the marinara sauce was a little sweet with a very natural flavour, the cheese was cooked to perfection and the ham was really flavourful. Breakfast, lunch or tea, you can't go wrong!!

I am only writing this because I tried to phone to discuss my issue as their website suggests and had waited on the line for half an hour with no answer when I gave up. I went to the SB on Saturday night. They were very busy but I had booked as I think most people had.The staff were quite attentive and got us drinks and took our order. Then we waited, and waited. After 40 minutes (!) we inquired were our meals were and were told they were on there way. Another ten minutes went by and we asked again at which point our food arrived. As most people book the hotel would have had a good idea how many staff to put on. If they couldn't get the staff they shouldn't have taken so many bookings. Ether way the fault lies squarely with them. I will say it tasted great, but then everything does when you are so hungry you could eat a horse and chase the rider doesn't it? Would I go here again? Probably not.

Great pub. Great staff. Wine options are solid (by the glass) plus there is a nice little wine room for by the bottle options (take away as well as dine in). Cosy front bar and rustic beer garden. Best schnitzels going around. My only request is to improve your hot chips as they’re mediocre at best.

We’ve visited the SBT on numerous occasions, we love the feel of the main bar. Being Scottish & Irish it reminds of us of our homelands. We decided to try the restaurant last night. The experience wasn’t great. The main dining room had all the decor, lighting and ambience of a shopping mall food court. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. We both chose the 250g sirloin steaks with the usual accompaniments, chips and salad. With the exception of the declared size of the meat, the rest of the meal was small. Who skimps on chips and salad? Being the philistines that we are (we’ve just moved here from the US), we asked (she didn’t offer) the waitress for some condiments, namely ketchup and mustard. You can imagine our surprise when we were charged for said condiments on our bill. In future I think we’ll stick to the liquid offerings of the front bar!

It's the one place we used to look forward to coming to, would bring our friends and our Harley clubs! Would not only get a beautiful meal but a huge serving full of flavor and something really different. The atmosphere is no longer there the staff are friendly but slow in service as staff have reduced and the meals are simply boring pub meals something you can get in any front bar. It's s pity that such a great chef is being put to waste and that an iconic pub full of life, flavor and individuality has gone to waste. If you are expecting any meals like the earlier pics on FB you can't order them and won't find anything like it in the menu don't bother! Won't be going there again and can see the room getting even emptier than it was tonight RIP Stanley Bridge xx

Went there lastnight for dinner, beautiful place, friendly lovely staff, I think I was just unlucky with my choice with what I ordered, my partner loved his Lamb dish, I got the barramundi which was tasty, however the salad was not nice, couldn't eat it, for entree got the smoked trout which had a bone in it, received an apology though, ordered stone fruit crumble that was soggy and runny, wasn't good, loved the place regardless, just my food was a let down, cosy atmosphere, and we had a great night.

Dropped in for a casual Friday dinner & drink, and had on of the best meals in the Adelaide Hills. Gnocchi & the market fish were spectacular. Cooked so beautifully. We’ll be back

Beautiful food! The gnocchi was incredible and my family all loved their dishes too (barramundi and lamb). This place truly has a tavern feel without feeling old and run down. Wonderful knowledgable staff! I'll be back for the gnocchi!

A public holiday just after New Year and both the restaurant and the garden were packed with people. The new owners have made pleasing renovations to the beer garden. I ordered the garfish which was lovely and it came with a very good tartare sauce, chips and a very fresh and tasty salad. The pervious owners rarely changed anything on the menu so it was pleasing to see the new owners have a good menu. Although the staff were run off their feet they very friendly and helpful.
