One of the best restaurants I've ever been to... not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the warmth of the people and the authentic decor makes it a very cozy place to have dinner at with some long conversations!
I've been coming here weekly for about 2 months now. And I'll be coming here weekly for as long as I can. This place is how a restaurant should be. Relaxed, amazing owners/staff and the food is incredible - I think there's a wizard in the kitchen. Keep it up guys. Love it.
We've travelled all the way from the Netherlands to enjoy a very special evening with delicious food and good company. Compliments to the cook, and greeting to Jef.
Love Geoff and the team at Kyber Pass. Been a semi regular for well over a decade now, and I still think it's one of the best South Asian themed restaurants in the SE suburbs.
I can say only one authentic Pakistani restaurant. Enjoyed a lot food and service 10/10. One thing more it taste like homemade.
An amazing find. We had a great night! The service was outstanding and the food was truly delicious and great value for money. Will definitely be coming back soon!
It's Pakistani not Indian. Magnificent home cooked cuisine cooked with love. Been a regular there for years and will always keep going back.
Went last night with family and friends for mums birthday, fantastic atmosphere and great bloke. Food was awesome, will go back if we ever travel that way again.
I love this local restaurant. The food is delicious and we are always made to feel welcome. We will be back again ... & again & again .....
BEST FOOD EVER! We've been eating their curries for 25 years. Highly recommended.
Awesome food great service and a Hawthorne supporter!
Fantastic food, fantastic ambience.
This is the best north indian Pakistani restaurant in melbourne. Have been going for 20 years since it was in Blackburn. Best tasting curries ive ever had. All freshly made (sometimes you have to wait but its worth it).
Dined here tonight as a group of 4. We opted for the banquet. Good value. $28pp for papadums & a mixture of 3 entrees (samosa, shamee kababs & vege pakora) & 4 mains (mixture of 2 lamb, 1 beef & 1 chicken dishes) with rice & chapati. We paid extra & got dessert. I had the gulab jaman. Restaurant not licenced, byo any@ alcohol, we all ordered soft drinks @ $3 per glass. Service was somewhat friendly but very slow & non attentive. Full of regulars & man/owner spent most of the time talking to the regulars. Food tasty with some good flavours. Overall when we got the bill we paid $37.50pp for all the food & drink we had.
What a gem! It's our weekly go-to place!! Jeff is an awesome guy and the food is seriously amazing. Every week we try something different but it's all exquisite. It's BYO only by the way. Very very reasonable prices and great atmosphere!
Absolutely brilliant food. All the dishes were perfectly spiced to bring out individual flavours. The family run restaurant welcomes you as if you are one of them. Definitely recommend.
A hidden gem. The service and hospitality of the staff/family is outstanding and the food is aromatic and full of flavour. Highly recommend the lamb kofta and for those that like it hot the murgani chicken is a personal favourite. You owe it to yourself to give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.
Lovely food, homely atmosphere! I would prefer to go down to Kyber Pass than any other local Indian restaurant! Jeff is a lovely owner and is always up for a chat!
Awsome hospitality.
Awsome food.
Awsome desserts.
Awsome service.
Awsome host. Thanks to the couple.
They literally put their love while making the food. Although its a pakistan restaurant, but u cannot make difference between the taste whether its indian or pakistani. Amazing atmosphere they create for you, feels like home. If you are in Melbourne then you should visit this place.
My family and I have been coming to the Khyber Pass for years and have never been disappointed. The food is impeccable with generous portions, so much flavour and melt in your mouth meat. Jeff is so attentive and you feel like a part of a wonderful local community when you come in. Would highly recommend. PS Added bonus is you can take your leftovers home and they are just as good second day.
Words will not do this restaurant justice. The food is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I was recommended by a number of friends to go and try it and I wish I had done it earlier. This is definitely now one of the places on the top of my list! Thanks for creating this gem of a place, a very satisfied customer.
Outside there is little evidence that this is an outstanding suburban gem. We dined at this restaurant on a recent wintry Friday evening with friends for the second time, and were impressed by the delicious food and friendly service from the family team. Husband acts as front of house, and wife is a very competent chef. On occasions, other family members wait on tables as well. The menu is cleverly structured to provide a range of flavours to accommodate all tastes, and diners BYOB which is also popular. Decor is eclectic and colourful, seating comfortable and not crowded, music very muted and floors carpeted, which means the place is not noisy. Another aspect which was much appreciated on a cold winter's night - the toilets were inside the building, as well as very clean. To top it all off, the prices are not at all expensive. Worth a visit even if you're not close by, but I suggest booking to ensure you get a table as this place is popular with the locals! Highly recommended.
Best restaurant ever! If you want a good feed this is the place to be. Staff are so friendly and such a family welcoming restaurant. My partner doesn't eat spicy food but they had other dishes for him that were delicious. Definitely be returning.
I was recommended by many of my co-workers to visit this restaurant. I finally got the time and now I am hooked. This is by far the best authentic curry I have ever had. The food is cooked to perfection and now I understand why it's the talk of my work place. The hostess is so welcoming and the atmosphere is perfect. Will be recommending this to my family and friends
Oh my god this place is amazing! Amazing hosts that are so warm and welcoming. Love the food and love the atmosphere. Feels like a second home! Walked away one happy man.
Food is fantastic. It has the kick of a stallion and the innocents of a young child. I can't stop returning to this place as the prices are also to die for.
After being recommended by my friends we dined with a group of friends over the weekend. We were welcomed by the owner and his lovely daughter who made us feel so welcome. The restaurant was packed - and had such a great atmosphere, almost as though our we're dining in a friends home. The food was beautiful, and the food was so fresh! Thanks for a great evening, we wi defiantly be back!
Just what the doctor ordered!. I had driven past this restaurant I don't know how many time, but tonight was the first time we have eaten from there. Both my husband and myself were feeling a bit less than ordinary due to lingering colds and we wanted something for dinner a bit on the spicy side to try and pick up our moods. The owner of the business welcomed me warmly when I arrived and gave me a menu to look over. Our takeaway dinner took about 20 minutes and I was happy with how reasonably priced it was. But of course the taste is the all important thing - and we were not disappointed. We really enjoyed the food and there were no left overs! and I didn't think I was that hungry - YUM!
Great family run business. The food is authentic and delicious, the service is great. It has such a relaxed feel, like being in your lounge room with friends. Love this place, would definitely recommend it.
Fantastic place to meet with friends. Great food and service. You aren't rushed out the door like so many other restaurants these days. Lovely family run business. Thumbs up.
Family Fun. Family owned restaurant which means they care!
The food was traditional indian and tasted great the service was casual, relaxed and friendly. I walked pass the kitchen and was met with a lovely Chef who asked my opinion she was the wife of the owner... who was the front of staff. Its a local haunt as everyone new the owners it was nice to see such a relaxed, easy going palce like this. WIth the great food, service came the exceptionally cheap prices...no wonder its packed. Highly recommended!!
Abolutlely Delicious!. Loved it! Will definitely be going back soon, the food was delicious and very very reasonably priced for what you get. Plus it's great to support a local family owned business that has been around since we moved in 18 years ago.
Best Curry Ever!. This is the best restaurant in Vermont!
The curries themselves are so delicious and fresh! (Those who know the restaurant well, go inside the kitchen to say hello to the chef, and see there are no jars anywhere, just fresh sauces and meats!)
There are so many regulars at the restaurant that you always see somebody you have spoken to in the past. The family that runs the restaurant are so nice. It feels like you are going to sombody's house for dinner.
Good food, good service and great atmosphere (what more could you want?!)
Also no corkage charges and byo any drinks you want!
We visited this place just after Victoria came out of lockdowns and we were blown away by the taste and the quality of the food.
The place has very homely vibes and the owner of the restaurant makes sure they have a nice chat with you. One advice, please make a booking as we say the place fill up pretty quickly.
We had the murg tikka, the shami kebab, and the naggra bhaji as the appetisers and they did not disappoint. For me, the shami kebab was the most amazing of these. The lamb mince filling was so light yet well spiced and delicious. I couldn’t get enough of this.
The chicken lahori that we had for the main course comes very close to being one of the best chicken dishes that I’ve had in a restaurant. The chicken was so soft and tender but the masala was the king. It packed a heavy punch of spices, heat and everything nice! I’ve not a single negative about this dish.
The chicken baloch was a milder version of the lahori and is perfect for kids and adults who cannot handle the spices.
The Shahi veg was a bit of a downer as it had more potatoes to it than a healthy mix of other vegetables. Could’ve been better.
The thing that we were not happy with the place was the wait times. I am not sure if they were short staffed or this is the norm but we had a long wait for the food to arrive after we placed the orders. The kids were not really happy with this and nether were the adults with this experience at 8 pm in the evening.
Wow! We went here last night to catch up with friends and chose the tasting menu. It was such amazing food!
Such a cozy atmosphere and the food was outstanding! Can’t remember last time I had such delicious comfort food. Amazing spices, well balanced 👍
We even had some vegetarians in the group which were also very happy with options. The vegetarian garlic Dhal was outstanding (so was everything else). Will definitely be back soon.
Amazing Pakistani food! Wonderful customer service each and every time that we come here. The is a huge range of dishes so you can try something new each time!
Absolutely delicious food!! Very authentic, great menu and excellent service. We’ll be back soon!
The food is as close to authentic as you can realistically expect to find at any restaurant serving sub-continental fare.
The decor appears tired, though, mercifully that doesn't influence the food!
Finally my search for Lahori Chicken ends, hands down the best I've had in Melbourne so far.
Nothing beats a Friday night curry takeaway and this must be by far the best I’ve had. Definitely hits the spot on a cold winter night
Beautiful family atmosphere,
Excellent food,
Great staff in a beautiful relaxing restaurant.
