Review Sage - Victoria Park

Sandy Monroe
This is such a great venue. I love coming here with my family and friends. It’s usually a little bit quieter during the weekdays and has plenty of space under it’s lovely covered alfresco area. The weekends get quite busy so it’s a good idea to book. I love that you can book so you’re guaranteed a table. Their menu is tasty and interesting with lots of healthy fresh options. Their fresh pressed juice is delicious and their coffee is always on point. Super friendly service makes it a really great destination. I highly recommend say it’s you are in the Vic Park area

I enjoyed a bottomless brunch at Sage last weekend with my friends. What a great venue! The setting is so lovely with all the plants and the cute artwork. We started off with some tasty croissants and followed this with four beautiful main courses. We each ordered something different and shared, everything was good. My favourite was definitely the pancakes as they really met the requirements of my sweet tooth. Our servers Bree and Jocelyn were so lovely, they kept the drinks flowing and we felt very well looked after. If you are thinking about a bottomless brunch with your friends I can recommend Sage to you for great food and drinks with excellent service.

Had a wonderful brunch here :) Food took awhile but it was great and fresh! The iced coffee was just lovely too. Thanks for the nice service as well!

We hardly try new places but a good friend recommended we try the Bottomless Brunch here. It did not disappoint. The service was great and the girls were very attentive and always checked to make sure our drinks were topped up. The food was delicious and oh my the croissants were divine melt in your mouth delicious 👌. A very cute little Cafe, warm and very comfy. Definitely will be back again.

I really liked Sage. A cute cafe with lots of plants. We sat inside and it was very cozy and nice. The food was wonderful! The cafe seems popular, and with delicious food and a great atmosphere, I can see why. Tempted to come back for mimosas when I'm less busy! :)

Went to sage the other day for a nice outing with my girl. Excellent food service and the wait staff were really nice people. Had the smavo with a W.A.M. very delicious all round and very pleased with sage. Definitely coming back

Had a sensational Father's day brunch with the family here on Sunday. Great venue, loved the athmosphere and the friendly staff, they went out of their way to cater for our son's specific dietary requests. Everything we ordered was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant, 5 stars for sure.

Food and coffee were just average, and never coming back because of the rude service from this lady..
Madi
Had the most amazing lunch at Sage! Staff were friendly (and complete saints! They remained calm despite a horrible, cranky customer that we overheard). Atmosphere was relaxing and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this wonderful cafe!
ACLovesEats
The wait staff were friendly but the service itself was terrible...
Took them 15-20 min to even acknowledge us. Orders were taken and no drinks offered. Our water was empty by this stage and no effort to replace it.
The food came out after another 15min, and presented well. The beetroot salad was nice, fried chicken burger was ok but nothing special, squid tacos were terrible.
Had to ask another waiter to replace the water, and plates left on the table 30 mins after we had finished even though they were wiping down empty tables next to us.
It was not terrible but not great so doubt I would return.

A cozy place for breakfast! Friendly service, very nice food and drink.

We arrived not long after opening but it took 30mins for our coffee to arrive. We had the roast mushroom breakfast: there was no real flavour, no spices or herbs on the mushrooms, no seasoning on eggs, the cheese is like whey with no taste. Maybe there are other dishes that are better but it’s unlikely we would go back to try.
Karina
Foods were good and big portion, we had pancake which was very nice. However I agreed with other reviewer that mentioned service needed improvement. The location is very strategic and I don't remember there are other cafes in this block - see lots of potential there. T

I came to Sage Cafe for lunch mid week. We sat outside in the sunshine, which was nice. Service was friendly, although it took a while for our orders to arrive. I had the lamb, which was delicious!

Honestly I had a pleasant experience here but it didnt leave me wanting to come back either.
Food was okay- not bad but also not outstanding, my coffee was great but they forgot my husbands milkshake. Even after I told them about it they were going to charge me?
Foodie In Paradise
Came here with a group of friends for brunch on the weekend. I had the black pudding with baked beans dish and it was delicious. All the food taste amazing. I asked my matcha latte to be extra strong and it was just perfect. Service was very friendly. Highly recommend this cafe.
Daniel
Had breakfast here a couple of times. The last time I came I brought a friend. I had the pancakes which was nice. My friend had the smashed avo with poached eggs which she said was ok but underwhelming for her liking. Nice little cafe with friendly staff. Pancakes would be my suggestion

We came here today early morning. The environment and the service are good. I ordered matcha latte with the smashed avocado 🥑 bread on their autumn breakfast menu & my hubby ordered iced mocha with big brekkie (which is his fav breakfast menu 😂😂) However, I’d like to try with chorizo on the bread as added on (but my hubby forgot to order 😅😅) which leave the chance for me to come back again to try 😂😂 In general, I start loving this restaurant 😊😊 (I wish to give 4.5 stars 🌟 but I don’t know how to give half star on this rating system 😅😅) the half star loss is because the location is a little bit hard to find (coz it’s at the corner place behind of The Aus Post (if u drive thru Albany Hwy)

Food Order:
Avocado smash on toast with green beans - 4/5
Chicken katsu burger with fries - 5/5
Pancakes with cherry glaze, cream and maple syrup - 5/5

Drinks:
Turmeric Latte - 3/5
Peanut caramel shake - 5/5

Hero Dish: Chicken Katsu Burger with Fries.

Total Bill: $65.30

Final verdict: great cafe located just outside the hustle n bustle area of Victoria Park. Plenty of parking available just at the back of the cafe. Very quick and attentive staff taking your order. I would highly recommend getting the katsu burger, very popular dish in this joint. Till then, can't wait to come back again and try some other dishes from the menu. Ciao!

Had the smashed avocado with a side of mushrooms and it was delicious. Coffee was good too. They had some muffins and cakes in the display fridge which looked tempting but we didn’t get to try.
Carmen
Really enjoyed the chorizopan (although a little awkward to eat gracefully haha) and the shoe string fries! Big portion and yummy. Would be back again :)

Came for a quick lunch on a weekday. Neat and simple interior. The waiters were friendly and attentive. Ordered the smashed avocado and poached eggs dish. Tastes good but nothing outstanding. Poached eggs were perfect. The fried chickpeas were delicious and the crispy texture was a good contrast to the smashed avocado

Great coffee and yummy breakfast! Pancakes are delish. Friendly service each time I’ve visited. Dog friendly (outside area). Just what that spot needed!

We came here for breakfast after the Anzac dawn service. It’s naturally a busy time for them so you’d expect slower service, but that’s fine. We both ordered the poached eggs on sourdough which came with a side of chutney. I added mushrooms, while my partner added bacon. Two coffees (of course!) to wash it down with. The meals were ok, nothing special but not bad either. Bacon was a bit over-cooked. The menu has a all the standard stuff with a few nice interesting sounding options so we will come back to try those.

Small place but nice. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Being there for couple times and sit at the same spot. Their coffee is great. Great place for hangout with friends or meeting your colleagues.

Beautiful food in good generous portions. Really enjoyed the:

👍Pork belly fried rice with kimchee- Excellent pork belly and fried egg had a soft runny yolk.
👍Black rice pudding - fragrant, refreshing and delicious
👍Peanut caramel milkshake

Peanut butter cake was a little dry to our liking. But there's a lot of other inviting selections which we will come back and try another day.

Fabulous for parking. Didn’t have to wait for a table. Funky setting. Shady tables if u want to sit outside. Quick service. Would definitely go back :)Anita

Have been to Sage three times so far, and each time it has gone up a notch. Poached eggs perfect, avocado, bacon, toast all very good. Tea nice and coffee great. Friendly staff and good service. Of course we will be back. Last review I gave it 4.0, this time we thought it deserved 4.5. Oh, and good value for money too.

Coffee is not that good. Not many options at all for non pork/bacon eaters. Vibe is okay. Food can be really expensive too. Cakes are just too dry n coffee is prepared earlier???
Billylamb
Excellent! Big servings and delicious food. You can sit inside or outside in the courtyard or on their little patio. The pork pattie in the burger was sooo delicious, nice ginger flavor and super juicy. Mushrooms on toast cooked perfectly. Loved it. Spotted some matcha flavored cupcakes and cakes inside that we will need to try next time.

Modern warm decor. Pet friendly at the alfresco. Great location. Friendly service.
Matcha and Flat White in a mug was fantastic.
Spiced Lamb 🍔$19 was great.
Pork belly fried rice $18 was too wet
Such a great place to catch up with friends. Recommended.
Found this hidden gem right behind the Post Office in Vic park and it sure didn’t disappoint! Absolutely love the menu options and varieties being offered.

We ordered the Buddha bowl with the chicken and it was the bomb. Chicken was seasoned so well, the food was so clean and fresh, plus the portion sizes were good as you can see. The pancakes oh boy - soo fluffeh. I can’t really think of much flaws to the food but drinks wise, the red velvet latte just wasn’t that great (to us anyway). However would lovee to try the beet root latte next time.
LittleAsianGirl
Very cosy place with indoor and outdoor seating. We had the Veggie breakfast with free range eggs, ginger roasted tomatoes, spinach, potato cake, halloumi and toast; and the shakshuka: with tomato sauce, two eggs, cumin yoghurt, and ciabatta toast. Food and coffee was ok. Wouldn't mind coming back to try he rest of the menu.

randomly looking for a breakfast place and rather surprised by the lack of options on albany hwy. this place was pretty nice, food good, efficient service. was nice that they had inexpensive meals from the display cabinet in addition to the menu
More Than Nourishment
We went on a Monday morning for breakfast and it was surprisingly pretty busy. The staff were friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in. After reading the rave reviews for their pancakes, we had to get it along with the housemate granola with coyo. Using Port City Roaster’s coffee beans from Freo, I enjoyed my Long Mac. The pancakes were the stand out.. crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The granola wasn’t quite sweet enough for me but it was still tasty.. just not good enough to rave about or come back again for. I would however come back for the pancakes.
Bex
Perfection. The service was great with very attentive staff. The food was faultless; every item on our plates cooked and seasoned to perfection. We had the pancakes, mushroom with bacon and poached eggs while our son had the kids pancakes. This would be the first time he finished everything off his plate! As did we! Enjoyed the whole experience. Would definitely recommend to others and will be returning.
UPDATE: one month later we returned...
Unfortunately the second experience fell short of the first. There was a menu change, and perhaps because of this there was a little lack of control in the kitchen? Who knows but the wait for the food was incredibly long and the tables next to us were not getting any service at all. When the food finally came out, the apricot pancakes hubby ordered were so charred it made the dish overwhelmingly bitter - unsure if this was an intentional flavour created by chef but it was hard to enjoy. I had to drink my ice coffee with a metal straw which although I understand the concept of reducing environmental impact with recycling I’m unsure having a metal taste while consuming your drink was enjoyable and certainly hope they have a way of hygienically cleaning said item properly between customers. That all being said, haven’t given up on this place altogether and will give it another go in future.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Gorgeous interiors, friendly staff, decent sized menu. Coffee was perfect. Strong and hit the spot. Tried the Parsley Pesto Mushrooms with Bacon & Poached Eggs. It was epic. Presentation was divine, eggs cooked to perfection - soft and gooey, bacon was insanely good and the mushrooms were tender and full of flavour. Will def be back!

As a Business coach I meet in cafe's and restaurants right across Perth, this one is fantastic, really enjoyed breakfast, great coffee, easy parking, which is very important, great experience.

The buttermilk pancakes and the smashed avo toast with poached eggs were divine. I love the generosity with the maple syrup, I know it's a small thing but not a lot of places take that part seriously. Unfortunately they need to work on their drinks– we ordered the red velvet and chai lattes, both were extremely watery and lacked flavor.

Well, ain't this a nice cafe :) it is super lovely inside with nice staff. The coffee is nice and so was our salad.
I love the location and will be back soon
The Breakfast Confidential
Vic Park has a new addition and it’s a pearler. Sage Cafe, located behind the old post office, is already wow’ing customers with its breakfast offering and slick interior design. Polished concrete and wood finishing blended with brass and rose gold make for an inviting space. The chestnut leather bucket chairs are comfy. I had almost forgotten what it is like to sit on nice chairs at breakfast with so many cafes now having metal chairs!

Just had lunch here after whacking the squash ball around. I've been wanting to try it out since I saw it and a friend said it was good. Up front, we didn't have coffee so I can't comment on that. But we both had the yummy SLAM juice (strawberry, lime, apple and mint). I would prefer it a bit colder but it was very good.
He had the steak sandwich from the special board and I had the smashed avo, feta and poached eggs. I was reluctant - always worry about salty feta - but this was perfect. Apparently the sandwich was good too (I can vouch for the sweet potato chips).
My only complaint was that we had to sit inside but they can't help being busy and the inside is pleasant anyway. Good service and good price. We'll be having coffee there soon.

I had a delicious Weekend Breakfast from the special menu chalkboard at Sage cafe Victoria Park. I had the very tasty Pork sausage with house made beans and a gravity defying Fried egg. Finding a hair in my dish let down this otherwise enjoyable breakfast.

22/03/19 : Breakfast fail... 2 soft poached eggs on GF toast turned up as 2 of the tiniest hard poached eggs I've ever seen on 2 of the smallest GF slices as though they were from the end of the loaf. A simple dish executed poorly. Coffee was reasonable in price and taste.
-------------------------------------------
Friendly staff. Beautiful cafe. Perfect location with easy parking.
My buttermilk pancakes were ordinary today. I'd read reviews of them being so fluffy and perfect so my expectations were high. But they were just okay. The marscapone lacked flavour but the stone fruit was nicely poached.
Coffee today was well made but the beans were on the weak side and not to my taste.
Would return to try the smashed avo.

First heard about this cafe via Instagram a few days ago, and had to go after seeing there was a matcha latte on the menu. We went for brunch on Tuesday and ordered the buttermilk pancakes, full breakfast, house made granola, sweet potato fries, maple and buttermilk cake (I think) and carrot cake to eat. To drink matcha latte, white coffee and nutella milk shake.

Ok let's talk about the famous Buttermilk Pancakes... They were next level fluffy and cooked to perfection.... I'm coming back again this week for them.
The full breakfast was ok, not sure how I felt about the ginger tomato... Maybe if you're a fan of ginger you'll like it more, but the poached eggs were poached well and not over cooked. The granola was really good and delicious it's definitely something you can't buy in the shop. Sweet potato fries were so nice and surprisingly not oily but unfortunately I found the cakes both somewhat dry, the flavours were good but a little to dry in my opinion. Coffee and matcha late were ok, the Nutella milkshake maybe to sweet but if you're a sweet tooth you'll love it.

Decided to try this new cafe on the weekend. The ambience and service was good. Parking is a lot easier to find as it is near the shopping centre. Food is also great! We decided to try the smash avocado on sourdough and it was good. The mushroom with parsley pesto, bacon and poached eggs was tasty but we cannot get passed the buttermilk pancakes as they have a perfect balance with the mascarpone and we love every bite of it! The portion is quite substantial too so we left with extremely full tummy.
Queen Of Bad Timing
I went for the mortgage-forgoing smashed avocado on sourdough with house made dukkah, feta and two poached eggs ($18.00), plus a chocolate milkshake ($7.00) on the side. This is a huge dish! Props for the generous size, and for the spot on gooeyness of the poached eggs.

I really enjoy the combo of feta and avocado, but I needed some acidity to cut through the creaminess – a squeeze of lime and a little bit of salt would have made this dish so much more than what it was. That being said it was enjoyable enough, just lacked that wow factor I was looking for.

Have previously eaten scrambled eggs on toast here and they were amazzzzzing! So fluffy and a huge serving. This time we tried a salmon bagel, banana bread and almond cake. Both of the cakes were not an overly generous size and were $6 each. Banana was nice, almond was very dry and cold. We tried their interesting latte menu and got a beetroot latte, chai latte and red velvet. The lattes do not come with coffee in them so we got a shot of coffee in the beetroot. They weren't bad but I would probably just order a normal latte over these quirky ones. Overall a pretty nice place to go but you can tell it's still early days.

Top quality cafe and amazing staff. Couldn't think of a better place to meet up in vic park! Menu is creative but has everything you'd want.

We tried Sage Cafe on the weekend. Service was great from the beginning. Staffs were friendly and accomodating. Inside tables and chairs were a bit cramped, hence we picked to sit outside so we get to enjoy lovely weather on that day.

Pork Belly (weekend special) dish was awesome. Hubby loved it so much and happy that he got 3 big pieces. I dont usually eat pork belly, but it was so good and hard to resist. Super loved the salad too, dressing was so yumm!

My Veggie Breakfast was huge! It can be shared between 2 people. Lots of scrambled eggs, 2 crispy potato rosti, plenty of juicy mushrooms, 2 blocks of houlumi and a handful of spinach, which I wished cooked instead of raw (my only complain).

Mocha was quite weak, although tasted ok.

I almost ordered another weekend special dish: French Toast, or their famous Buttermilk Pancakes, but decided not to. I saw them both when waitress were delivering to other customers. French Toast was massive and Pancakes looked good to. I shall try them next time.
Honestly, the best place for pancakes. I ordered their pancakes ($17) with mascapone, maple syrup and stone fruit and they were super fluffy! Perfectly moist and dense- 100% recommended.

Excellent coffee, funky little cafe and my husband reckons it's the best chic chip banana muffin he's ever had. Can't wait to come back for breakfast!

Really nice coffee and food in a really nice building in a really nice location. I had the granola and it was cool that they served it with coconut yoghurt and coconut milk, added a really great flavour that I haven't seen much of before. Coffee was delish and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Looking forward to going back
BKAKA
Really cool new cafe with the BEST smashed avo in Perth and probably best coffee too. Dukkah was really tasty and original, bread was REALLY nice in flavour and texture, and definitely worth getting the extra smoked salmon as well. Staff are really friendly and professional. Excited to try the rest of the menu as well as their specialty lattes and juices. Cool spot to sit and hang out with the big windows, high ceilings and timber floors giving the place a really good energy.

Beautiful food. Great coffee. Nice location. Friendly staff. Good ambience. Good value. All made for a very pleasant breakfast out. Will definitely come again.

Great coffee, great service, great location. Totally enjoyable.
Menu has options for carnivores and herbivores even a couple of vegan options.
Frankie
Good coffee here and lovely food. Didnt expect this cafe to be here on the corner next to Australia post so hidden away for someone new not knowing the area. Very friendly staff.
In_perth
Nice new little cafe in the heart of Vic Park with seating inside and out, the menu had a great range of breakfast and lunch dishes with a selection of sweets. The sweet potato fries and spicy mayo dip were really good and everything else tasty but nothing was mind-blowing. I would like to try it again when they have found their rhythm as it is only new even if it's just for coffee and to try their cakes.
Melimelo3
lovely little place, interior looks like a old house remvamped w high ceilings and brick walls. very cute. quite new and clean, comfortable chairs inside, and some seating outside, which i imagine would be great in the warmer months. my partner and i both got the pancakes, very filling but delicious. had a good amount of marscapone and maple syrup. as usual, being picky i asked for the bits on the side and staff were kindly accomodating. also had a tumeric soy latte... which was honestly just perfect, one of the best ive had I'd say! very cute little cafe in vic park. pricing was decent and the opening hours are generous too, thats definitely a win, especially on a monday morning.
NRB
What do I say... WOW.
Think we just found our new cafe for breakfast. The food was tasty, the juices were delicious and the coffee was amazing.
The overall environment was pleasurable on the eyes and definitely worth a second visit for continuity.
Only advice to give at this point is because they have a traditional wooden floor some staff need to have soft sole shoes on (constantly clunk clunk).
See you all soon
