Review Kettle Cafe - Victoria Park

Maud Cappelle
Nice atmosphere for this cafe, we grabbed some lunch there on a warm day. The meals were ok: the savoury waffles were really thick compared to a traditional waffle, looks more like a pastry. The noodle curry was OK, couldn't taste the curry very much. The service was real quick and staff very friendly.

Very cozy shop, and a nicely balanced mocha! Ordered the Chicago Dip sandwich, had generous amounts of super juicy meat, quality ingredients and a very flavourful dip. Bit pricey, but I still look forward to trying some of their other menu items sometime.

[Pork belly] was nice. But the [waffles with fried chicken] only worth 2 stars. Waffle was crunchy but toooo oily. Just one piece makes me feel uncomfortable. Fried chicken was too plain. It’s better to add some sauce on top or aside. Cinnamon apple was nice but also contained melted butter. Overall, this dish was toooo oily and color was not nice(all brown), so it’s better to provide some simple salad to balance taste and color. Maybe we should try other food next time.

Coffee and Mocha great taste, but a touch cold. Crispy Chicken waffles was tasty, moist and crunchy. Mushroom waffles was a little oily.

Nice cafe on the corner of a strip of shops, just across the road from Lathlain primary school and also Rayment park. There's lots of indoor seating and several tables outside as well. The menu is not massive and the usual fare can be ordered - eggs, toast, fruit toast etc. There's some twists on some menu items like the eggs Bene coming with smashed avo on the toast, and roasted tomato breakfast bruschetta. There were quite a few vegetarian options and also vegan options available. We had both the Waffles options. Fried chicken - 2 waffles that come with cooked apples and a generous scoop of cinnamon butter, and the duck waffles that came with pulled duck and a herb salad and sprouts, and a poached egg. The duck waffles only comes with one waffle. Both were quite delicious. Also had an English breakfast tea, chai tea (you have the option of getting either powdered chai or real tea leaves, which is great) and a mocha (was not to sweet, which was also great) overall it was a nice breakfast.

Don’t even waste your time here if you’re gluten free. They use gluten containing vinegar to posh their eggs, which, as a chef myself, can ay is the dumbest idea ever. Not a single gluten free option apart from tapioca pudding and eggs with sausage. Wouldn’t recommend and definitely will never go back.

We are not locals to this area and stumbled upon here as we were hungry and close by. WOW, what a gem we stumbled upon. The food options were incredible, I could have ordered 10 things. The price was very reasonable, all staff were friendly, the cafe was incredibly clean and the flavours were amazing. I hope we find another reason to be in the area again one day to enjoy your delicacies. Great work to the owners and staff!

The food in Kettle Cafe is amazing. Their menu is packed full of so many great brunch options, it's hard to choose only one. I'm already looking forward to returning to try the rest of their menu. 😄

Had an amazing dinner, every flavor was matched to each ingredient - Chef's did an amazing job for a last minute cover Service was brilliant, polite and accommodating even though the doors were closing in 20 mins Couldn't recommend this hidden gem high enough Peace x

I have enjoyed many a meal at this place & it's always been lovely... but it was my second time for dinner that has inspired my very first 'review'... The GNOCCHI was simply AMAZING... Light & fluffy pillows of delight, unlike any I've had before Obviously made by a great pasta-master, best compliments to the chef!!! I could go on & on about this joint, but no words could do it justice; check it out

Just had an amazing dinner with Mulled wine to start perfect for a winters night. My fussy chef partner can’t stop raving about the bruschetta. Will be highly recommending this place and taking friends and family to experience it’s charm ASAP.

We visit here every second Sunday for breakfast. The food and coffee is always great and the staff always smiling! The menu has a great variety to cater for all😊
Julia Masny
Ate dinner here last night – interesting menu, great staff and the beef burger and gnocchi were both delicious.
Renata Suckling
The food was exceptional. Being season travellers we would say that the seafood rissoto and the pork belly are definitely on our recommendations. And then there was the delicious bruchetta we shared..wow...

After finally being convinced to not order the bacon and eggs, I dared to be adventurous and ordered the sun flower rye, what a DELICIOUS breakfast! However, for those bacon and egg lovers out there, this place serves up the best and even better it's <$13. and their coffee you ask? The Barista Brenton creates some indulgent, tasty, smooth coffees! Will keep coming back!

Came in for Friday breakfast 6/10 at about 8am. Ordered 2 fill ups 1 with no mushroom. 840ish food came out with one no chorizo not no mushroom. Let them know and they said they'd fix it. 9am my food came out this time no mushroom and no chorizo. By this stage running extremely late for an appointment I let the waitress know to which I was told there is a new system in place and no responsibility was taken. It was a very simple request. No mushroom. Extremely disappointing considering I brought a mate after talking up your establishment. I'm not sure how food was since I had to inhale it and run out.

We're regulars here. Coffee is always very nice but we particularly love the friendly, personable service. Many of the staff appear to be on a first name basis with a lot of customers which just brings a really nice, old fashioned sense of community. Food is great too.
Robbyn Gielink
Excellent dinner menu! Loved everything we ordered. Not surprising as it's owned by the same crew from another cafe I've loved for years- 9 seeds in Palmyra

My wife and I dined here tonight the food and the staff were excellent we could not fault it thank you Kettle Cafe.
Michael Audesho
Coffee was brilliant and the pulled lamb on Turkish bread should of been on a top stared restaurant menu.

Very pricey for what it was worth 😕

Delicious food and coffee! Great staff and service.

Had a lovely evening meal. Wasn't very busy. Will be back

Cute little cafe, food is good. French toast is as pretty as a picture. Service a little sloppy. One coffee came out and a long wait for the others at the table.
Harry Ray
$10 minimum EFTPOS makes it hard to grab a coffee and go to the park with the kids. And the child friendly options are limited. So maybe come with adults instead?
Nilesh Nagarkar
Amazing food....well thought menu which suits everyones palate.... n beautiful coffee
Jacob Pierce
Poor service. Waitress behaved as though we owed her a living.

Carly Forgiarini
Food was great all round except, Cajun avocado, came out as guacamole with coriander; No mention on the menu. Booking was made for 10 adults and 2 children but table was seated for 7. Water glasses were dirty. It says it's kid friendly however no kids menu.
Deeksha Krishan
I have been to kettle many times; and every time my food; coffee and service have been absolutely brilliant. I have never seen or been to a cafe that gives such prompt attention to their customers and I cannot stop raving about the food. All my friends and family are regular in this cafe and have always come out of it completely satisfied with a big smile on their faces. Much sort after cafe we need more of these places around. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for an impromptu breaky. It was delicous and cosy and all things great. A lovely little spot for a cuppa and a chat.

Awesome breakfast and coffee! Will make it a local.

Had a pretty terrible experience here... We ordered the Bircher and hard poached eggs on toast. We waited. And waited. And waited. Others got their meals, but alas we didn't. As we waited we saw two tables send their meals back, which didn't exactly instil us with the most confidence. The waitress who took our order, was lovely, and came to our table to apologise, saying the chef had accidentally mixed the orders up. We were a little peeved, but ok with that. Our food finally came- 36. Long. Minutes. Later... I noticed straight away that my Bircher was a strange orange colour. I had one small taste, and to say it was horrible, is an understatement. I immediately called the waitress over and told her I couldn't eat it. She apologised (again) and took my bowl away saying "oh yeah, someone else didn't like the Bircher today, there must be something wrong with it". We waited for her to return, or for a manager to approach us to offer some type of solution, but nothing. My partner finished her meal and we contemplated what to do. I decided to go to the counter and ask for my money back for the Bircher. Believe it or not, this is where our experience actually got worse... The girl hesitated and said she would have to ask the chef. She went in and we observed the conversation and saw him shake his head. She returned to us saying "the chef said no". We asked if we could speak to the chef personally to explain, she again went into the kitchen and returned saying "umm they're just really busy, so he can't come out". With only two dockets up and more than two chefs in the kitchen, we knew this wasn't actually the case. We asked again, and the chef finally came out to speak with us. His attitude was as horrendous as my orange Bircher. We explained that not only did we wait 36 minutes for our food, but when it arrived, it was inedible. He stood there for 5 minutes talking AT us. He said there was nothing wrong with the food, that we just obviously didn't like it. In an accusatory tone he asked "how do you think you make Bircher?!" And rattled off his method and ingredients (which obviously included orange juice). Saying that "it lasts many more days in the fridge if you use the juice." But then contradicted himself by saying that he "makes it fresh every morning". He then tried to excuse the ridiculous wait time by telling us that "it takes 20 minutes to hard poach an egg". I was speechless the entire time, but at this comment I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I told him that I happen to own a cafe, and know how long it takes to poach an egg. Instead of being humble and apologising, he actually accused me of pre-poaching eggs at my cafe, to which I replied "no mate, we definitely do not". He then added insult to injury by saying "I wouldn't ever want to eat at your cafe". At this I shook my head and we walked out. On the way to the car I told three people of my experience, all of whom, not surprisingly, said they had bad experiences at this cafe. I wont be back, and recommend that others don't waste their time or money here. And just for your chef, I have copied and pasted some information below: "Depending on your pan, a really soft poached egg should take around 2 minutes and a soft to firm one will need 4 minutes (it depends on the size of the eggs and whether you're using them straight from the fridge)." I encourage the owner or manger to reply, or contact me personally to discuss this honestly awful dining experience. Thanks for reading.

This used to be one of my favourites but had a disappointing experience yesterday. Both coffees were cool and made with too much milk. The savoury waffle combinations just aren’t what they used to be. In fact they weren’t very nice. I’m sorry but I doubt that we will be going back
Joe
One of my go-to cafe as i live nearby.. good coffee and friendly atmosphere. Good serving size too.<br/><br/>I went a few days ago and ordered the thai panna cotta, which was served with granola and seasonal fruits. My only feedback is please use fresh blueberries! Frozen ones were awful :(
S.
Savoury duck waffle - need I say more?! I was intrigued and after a tough decision between the chocolate pancakes and the duck, the duck won, and my only regret is that I haven't been back sooner. Incredible flavour combination, the duck was rich and cooked perfectly on a savoury waffle paired with a salad and pepita combination, topped off with a perfectly poached egg and a red chilli. Iced coffee was great too, and the service was commendable. Will definitely be back.
PS I Love To Cook
Loveliest setting n seasonal food choice is amazing!! Can't fault it, our family favourite whenever we go to the park nearby will always drop by for dinner

Super friendly and welcoming atmosphere and staff. We were greeted by everyone, given water straight away and the food arrived quickly. <br/>The coffee is sensational and the food phenomenal. Thank you so much for the perfect service!

Check how much they charge you - especially if you use payWave or PayPass and don't make a habit of asking for a receipt.<br/><br/>The menu listed the omelette at $16 and a long black at $4 (or $5 for the large mug) .<br/><br/>We paid the bill by payWave, and a few minutes later we noticed that the withdrawal from our account was slightly more than expected (our bank app gives automatic notifications for any withdrawal). We asked for the receipt and saw they had charged $18 for the omelette and $5.50 for the a mug-sized long black with a dash of milk.<br/><br/>When we questioned them at the till, they said "there was a misprint on the menu for the omelette, it should say $18".<br/><br/>I might be old fashioned but, in my opinion, if there is a misprint on the menu the customer should be made aware of this as they are ordering the dish (or that the dish should be sold at the advertised price until the menu is amended).<br/><br/>They were very 'matter-of-fact' in this explanation and offered no apology, they also didn't offer to honour the advertised price.<br/><br/>When asked about the long black, they said a long black costs extra... First time I've ever heard of a long black costing more than other coffees (especially when the menu indicates it is the same price as the other coffees). Perhaps it was because we asked for a dash of milk? If that's the case, the additional price should be communicated with the customer.<br/><br/>We weren't really happy with the explanation, but didn't want to push the point with them over $2.50, so just went back to the table and ate our meal.<br/><br/>I feel like we should make potential customers aware, though. So often these days we pay absent-mindedly with payWave/PayPass and don't ask for receipts. After this experience, I'd suggest that it might be prudent to see how much you are being charged if dining at the Kettle Cafe.<br/><br/>I was going to leave a one star review, but I felt our waiter was exceptional; he was very attentive and accommodating - so I will add an additional star for him. The food was also quite tasty! It's just a shame that the costs were not transparent and that there was no humility or apologetic tone used when the cost discrepancy was brought to their attention.<br/>

If you are in the area go if you are not in the area its definitely worth the trip, we had breakfast there this morning and wow its good, I  had the fill up as recommended by another reviewer and yes it was yummy, i loved the cherry tomato and I finally found a coffee I like as well, nice setting as well we were there early at 7.30 but I could imagine this place would go off later in the morning as its very good so I would book, also the friendly helpful staff will make make you feel right at home,  Thanks for a good value breakfast guys.<br/>John

Very popular neighbourhood gem so book a table.<br/>I found it a bit disappointing that we had booked a table 6 days in advance for Sunday breakfast and were given a table almost in the middle of the café where we were frequently nudged and interrupted by the queue forming for the counter.<br/>The savoury waffle was so tasty - the dressing on the duck was delicious.<br/>The porridge however was not great - there was a spice mixed in it (probably into the caramelized apple) that gave it an unpleasant flavour.

This place is SPECTACULAR and once you have the “fill up” you will definitely crave it AGAIN AND AGAIN.<br/><br/>The eggs were cooked to perfection and the chorizo was amazing !! The toast was a little hard to bite into but that didn’t matter because everything else was amazing! <br/>The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and so were the potatoes and tomatoes. <br/>Eat this with some tomato sauce and pepper and you have one of the best breakfasts you can have !! <br/><br/>HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Went for a takeaway before heading to the park to play. Grabbed a couple of coffees & a savory muffin. Muffin was revolting. Firstly was toasted and came out looking like it had been run over by a truck and when swapped it for a fresh one it was inedible- terrible flavor and still uncooked inside. Love the cafe usually but disappointed this time.

First at all, I love the food here. Unfortunately, the service, attitude and lack of professionalism of the staff here is appalling and made us question whether we'll return. One of the waitress put a hot drink right in front of our toddler which she pulled all over herself. During another incident, I had to argue with the staff to take my order 5 minutes before the kitchen re-opened. Very disappointing
Desert_Rose
Very friendly staff and they have the best gluten free cake ever. I love their juices which I am sure we're freshly made. I had the morning glow and it was refreshing and not sugary/icky. <br/>Definitely will keep eating there
Craig
Have been a regular here for a long time so was interested to see how they adapted to their new dinner service. <br/>Very impressed! Same casual friendly atmosphere. Nice subtle changes to the decor. Great service and importantly the food was Fantastic. I had the pork belly and my fiancé the gnocchi. We were both extremely happy with our choices. The eaton mess we shared for dessert was equally as good and a nice choice of wine and beers. <br/>A perfect example of not trying to be fancier than they are. Just producing beautiful food and great service in a casual atmosphere. Can't wait to go. back

Outstanding. Great service. As greeted and asked if I wanted a menu while queuing by a lovely lady. Ordered the Benedict on rye with avocado smash and lime, spinach, 2 poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and I added smoked salmon. The portion size was perfect! Nice thick cut bread with two slices, salmon was a chunky cut salmon and a great portion size along with the added avocado and spinach. Didn't wait long for the food and was a nice presentation. The Benedict was one of the best I've had in and around perth so far 9/10. Coffee was very nice. Prices were reasonable at $25 for the breakfast and coffee. Great setting and big cafe. Toilet facilities well kept. Get in earlier than later to get a good table 👍

Fabulous dinner with local friends. Dips for starters, pork belly for mains, my friends enjoyed their steak and another her seafood risotto. We shared Eton Mess and chocolate lava cake for desert. I know many have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and coffee at The Kettle. Put them on the top of you list for dinner @ Nicola Vincent <br/>

I've been wanting to try this for ages but kept forgetting about it then on Saturday the chance came up after squash so we headed here for a yummy lunch. He had everything on the menu (the big breaky option) and I had the eggs bennie. We both had coffee and the apple, mint, pear and ginger juice. The food was good (too much spinach for me though), the coffee was ok (I've had better and I've had worse), the juice was refreshing and the service was quick and friendly. I like the atmosphere of the place and it's immediate surroundings. Lathlain had come a long way ... the park across the road was full of lovely people having a lovely time.

A hidden gem in the suburb. Coffee isn't amazing, but food is delicious & fresh, and serving sizes are generous. Highlights for us were the:<br/>👍👍 Pancake Special- Kaya, white choc, raspberry & cream pancakes. A stunning looking dish with flavours all so well-balanced; an unexpected treat!<br/>👍 Pulled lamb, hummus, warm apple and cabbage, poached egg<br/>👍 Omelette with sweet potato<br/>👍 Steak sandwich - steak was beautifully cooked and fried egg had a soft, runny centre- yum! *Be sure to swap your blue cheese out if you're not a fan of it.<br/><br/>Had the Crispy Chicken Brioche with Harissa Slaw too. Brioche bun is soft and fluffy, but the chicken wasn't as crispy as we had expected.<br/><br/>Service can be a bit slow when it gets filled up, but staff are friendly and nice. Great location with free parking around and a park across the road.
Judith Seeckts
Had a really tasty breakfast here today, it was a brioche burger with amazing bacon and the best caramelised onions with egg and smashed avocado, gorgeous, great coffee and lovely staff with a great vibe, busy but not too busy , loved everything!
Emma Louise
I definitely rate this place. Went on the weekend and got the choc chip pancakes, they were too die for and had pieces of honeycomb on the side that just melted in your mouth. Also had the o mai juice which was apple, pear, mint and ginger, best mix I've come accross. Will be going back soon!!
Georgia Palladino
Hidden gem! Such a diverse menu with great quality food. Friendly service and a nice area with plenty of parking. Definitely would recommend for a nice Sunday lazy breakfast.
PERTHFOODGLORIES ?
Never going there again that's for sure.I ordered a chai they gave me a coffee like ? And the French toast me and my sister got was 😬😬😬.<br/>Dunno if it was a bad day for them or ... <br/>

Went to this cafe on the weekend for the first time. The place is nice and spacious and looks very inviting. Was greeted the moment I entered which is always a good start. The coffee was spot on. Ordered crispy chicken special which was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

I've been here for breakfast several times now. On my first few visits about a year ago, I was particularly impressed with the food, but on more recent visits I don't feel it has quite met the same high standard. As a positive, the serving sizes area always generous. Each visit I've ordered Kettle's version of a "big breakfast" (the Fill Up) and have been quite happy with it.<br/><br/>A minor grievance from my most recent visit - my pot of tea arrived less than half full. I politely asked one of the staff if it could be topped up a bit. Not an unreasonable request in my opinion, but given that the pot was returned five minutes later with no change in water level, perhaps they disagreed.

Been there 3 times this week for coffee and once for breakfast, the first two times were great service not too long of wait for take away coffee the cafe was sitting in a nice flow. (Muffins AMAZING!) On my third visit for coffee was not good Barista was rushing and taking in to many orders before he could actually make them, it just left 15+ people looking at him putting added stress to into a not needed situation. <br/><br/>On Sunday I went there the breakfast , the food was below average, everyone raved about the french toast so I ordered it. It was nothing like all the beautiful pictures that everyone had uploaded. Food was very rushed and no love put in at all. <br/><br/>Whilst I love this cafe and its location I feel it is I need to an experience manager. The man who seems to be in charge is very friendly, very kind and polite. But in order to cope with the volume and maintain the quality a little more experience and more staff is needed. <br/><br/>This is not to say i wont be back, but I will be back when it is slower so the chef and barista has time to put more love into my meal.
Melimelo3

You know what? A really good all round experience. :)<br/>Friendly prompt service, excellent food, good hot coffee, chilled music, nice little fitout and obviously loved by locals. I had the eggs hollandaise on rye. Fantastic. My partner had the o'mai juice and eggs on toast. Fantastic. Will easily come here again if I'm in the area. :)

Kettle is one of those quiet achievers managing to dish out incredibly good food, all the while hidden out in the suburbs away from the main strip and well known amongst the close-knit locals but seldom heard of otherwise, orrr maybe I've just been living under a rock for the last three and a half years?<br/><br/>If you love mushrooms as much as I do, then you've likely experienced that disappointing feeling of...not having enough. You're unlikely to have that problem with Kettle's hickory smoked mushrooms, though: the plate is STACKED with mushrooms atop two slices of rye, with a single poached egg, and enough labneh to cut through it all. A little bit of elegance is brought to the dish with bright flowers picked straight from the flowerbed out front - the finishing touch to an amazing plate of food.
Ger Mulholland
By far the best eggs benedict I've ever had. Always perfectly cooked. The staff are friendly and the food is amazing. I couldn't recommend this place more. The best breakfast.
Rochelle Cleland
Great food and service. Hickory smoked mushrooms are the best! Awesome play area for kids as well so you can enjoy your coffee. Great in the summer to sit outside in the quite suburb of lathlain.
Foodie In Paradise
Went here for brunch on a weekday morning, this cafe was reasonably quiet. I like the ambience of this cafe, very spacious and relaxing, good place for catching up with friends. <br/>For food, we ordered the pulled lamb, hummus with poached egg and the French toast, berries and lemon mascapone. The pulled lamb is definitely something different and interesting to try, it was delicious. The only downside of this dish was the poached egg was a bit overcooked. The French toast was good too, not overly sweet. <br/><br/>
Wintersolstice
Found this cafe in Lathlain, I like that I didn't have to stand in line to wait for a feed. Spacious cafe with a casual setting. Great selection on the menu, there were lots of items I wanted to try, so that's always a great sign! My long mac was a little too milky but my meal was generous and tasty.
LifestyleByLily
The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating with a variety of large communal tables and small group tables. We grabbed a menu from the counter and picked a table. On looking around the cafe I matched some of the dishes to the menu options. I had to make a decision between the Pulled Lamb and the One Pot Egg and Fill Up dishes. In the end, I went for the One Pot Egg ($17) as I haven’t had a dish like this in awhile.
Food Feeds The Soul
Coffee very nice. <br/>Not accommodating with vegetarian options which is a shame as I live locally. No vegetarian options in the cabinet and not able to make a vegetarian toastie/sandwich, which would be so easy, so I left disappointed as didn't have time to order off the menu.<br/>When I have ordered off the menu I find myself disappointed.<br/>Lovely cafe for coffee and cake, just can't count on the food! <br/>
Williespants
Cafe in a quiet neighbourhood, I like the simple concept here. Decor is like a step back in time to early settler days, timber furniture. Coffee wasn't too bad, mocha was great - very chocolatey, service was friendly. We ordered the French Toast and the Hickory Smoked Mushrooms. The toast was alright, liked the chocolate and berries combo, the lemon marscapone was good, but not a fan of the actual toast used - too crumbly. The mushrooms were well flavoured, three kinds in there, but lacked some freshness - maybe could have used something lighter rather than the labne to balance the dish. Was a nice cafe though for a catch up.

The Stormy weather packs in alot more people but service was still excellent. <br/>Flat white in a mug was great to start with this very wet day.<br/>French toast, chocolate brioche, berries with lemon Mascarpone. .....wow just melted in your mouth. ....Amazing! <br/>Bacon and eggs was toasted very well and was very tasty.
SinCity
This is a very laid back easy going Cafe with comfy couches and seats inside and out. The breakfast was great, nothing too special but that was fine as the coffee was great ☕ I will definitely be back to lounge on the couch and do uni wok again!
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
On our most recent visit I spent time tossing up between a few options, but settled for the Pulled Lamb with Poached Egg, Hummus and Toast. Firstly, the lamb. It was star of the dish. Melt in your mouth, packed with a balance of herbs and spices but not enough to over power the natural flavour of the well cooked meat, I was so impressed with the love put into it. A perfectly poached egg complimented the complex flavours of the lamb. I was happy with one egg, but a second would have been nice. The yolk was silky and smooth against the pulled meat. I love it when a cafe knows how to poach an egg properly. The lamb and egg were piled on top of a thick cut slice of toast. They had a few different types of bread, but I had to choose the rye. I love the density of rye and I never feel bloated post consuming it. It’s no where as naughty as white bread either! The home made hummus completed the dish. Slathered on the toast it was zesty and had the perfect garlic hit. I could have eaten it with a spoon! Shh!

Very roomy for prams and kid friendly place, toys & little (& high) chairs provided. Also dog friendly. Has water bowls out front for dogs. Only had a flat white, regular sized ($4). Good decent coffee 😊

Delicious coffee, excellent price too. The staff are so lovely and friendly, and the fit out is just darling! Had breaky here a while back, and definitely planning to return.

I've been here several times for Sunday breakfast. It's perfect for groups as it's spacious and even has a park over the road if the kids go feral. <br/>While the name is daggy the food is good and the menu interesting. Order at the counter. My scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee .. toast breakfast was above average for the area.

The Mrs and I went here for brekky on Sunday with our dog. No tables outside were free but we asked and they set one up for us in the shade outside anyway. Food was pretty good, shame about no juice as I was certainly craving one.

Food was great all round except, Cajun avocado, came out as guacamole with coriander; No mention on the menu.<br/>Booking was made for 10 adults and 2 children but table was seated for 7.<br/>Water glasses were dirty.<br/>It says it's kid friendly however no kids menu.

I have been coming to Kettle since it opened, recently the coffee has become weak and just tastes like milk. I order a long mac t/up and would expect it to be stronger! Quite disappointing... :(<br/>The food is still lovely, it's just the coffee that has been a let down the last few months...<br/>Change of coffee brand perhaps?

Cool little hidden gem! Popped in for breakfast. Lovely fresh food and good coffee. Not overly busy which was surprising given the good reviews.

Had a wonderful breakfast at Kettle with amazing presentation! Sat outside in very comfortable chairs with a lovely ambience. Coffee was exceptional and service was efficient and attentive.

My friend found this hidden gem the other day so of course we had to go there. The food was fresh and delicious. It came out quick as well which is always a plus in my book. the juices they have are also pretty good. very refreshing. the staff were also very welcoming and friendly. I will be coming here again as both the food and atmosphere were lovely.

Service is really important to me and it was wonderful having Sunday breakfast at Kettle cafe. The staff were so attentive and the food was great! <br/><br/>The pulled lamb with poached egg and apple/cabbage salad was such a great choice! Definitely something different:) <br/>

Kudos to the genuinely friendly service from our waiter! It was a very enjoyable brunch in this spacious local cafe on the corner next to the park. Plenty of parking and no lines. Probably my favourite iteration of poached eggs with hollandaise in town!! The rye and spiced avocado just put it into a class of its own. The pulled lamb with the apple cabbage salad was delicious too. Fantastic value and I would highly recommend. Hubby makes extra special recommendation of the coffee - a good roast to the flavour, again setting it apart.

My husbands poached eggs were completely solid, but other than that it was a nice breakfast. The service is really good and the food came out without is having to wait too long. It was full of small kids moving around though, so if you don't like little visitors at your table and a few screams and yelps while you are eating, this probably isn't the place for you. Lots of outside seating if you have 4-legged friends. Will go back, as it has a nice friendly neighbourhood feel to it.

Well I think this place is going to become my new cafe of choice. Beautiful food and this place has a good amount of space between tables and chairs. (Not cramped) the coffee is to die for and the organic food tastes so much richer and has body. The staff are very polite and quick with service. <br/>The only drawback is that it is a little loud when full of people like our visit today - maybe a bit of soft furniture on the walls will help reduce this ?<br/>But guys well done !!
Leah
Lovely cafe and even more lovely staff & owner. We are incredibly pleased to have this as our local cafe. Coffee's are always perfect and yummy gluten free cakes too. :)

definitely a hidden gems. limited menu options, but I had an awesome pulled lamb dish. would definitely revisit again next time. awesome food

A brilliant cafe that would stand up with the best of Melbourne local cafes. A hidden gem that the locals fill up very quickly. Do your self a flavour and book yourself a table. Excellent coffee. Inspired menu by a talented chef. On our list of favourites when in Perth.

They do a solid coffee and the one egg nest dish is quite flavoursome. The service was nice and the park across the road provides good ambience.
More Than Nourishment
Only had a chai latte and muffin but they were both delicious. The muffin was packed full of blueberries with just enough bits of dark chocolate and oh so moist. What made it even better was that it was still warm so the chocolate was oozy. Staff were super friendly which was a plus. Surprisingly busy for a weekday morning and a place in the suburbs. Worth a visit.

What a great spot <br/>Popular with locals <br/>We had breakfast there 2 consecutive mornings we were so impressed <br/>Friendly staff excellent service tasty and plentiful serves in an eclectic setting <br/>A hidden suburban gem

A good place for brunches exudes a very natural place for conversation and catching up with friends. Coffee and food, while quite limited, have generous portions and taste excellent. However, I was not a fan of their chocolate souffle.<br/><br/>Highly recommended are their pull lamb and coffee
The Touring Life
Not so good, give it a miss.<br/>Fatty bacon, over cooked eggs, crunchy overlooked cold porridge. Average coffee, small menu, not much to choose from.

This Cafe is probably a sign that housing prices are on the rise in Lathlain. Good coffee, decent grub. Plenty of space to spread out the papers on a Sunday morning. A pretty rare feet anywhere in Perth.

Came to this conner cafe on Sunday. It was busy, but the staffs are friendly and food came within 20mins. They have a short menu, not too much choices; however, the food tastes good which is much better than a fancy menu with tasteless food. Plus, it's a dog friendly cafe!!!<br/>

Great little cafe. Very Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and yummy food! The one pot egg and pulled lamb is AMAZING! Also very child friendly with a toybox. Highly recommend for a weekend brunch.
LifestyleByLily
This cafe is a little out of the way but worth the visit.<br/>The staff are friendly and the menu has some great choices. I was torn in what I should order, I'm sure you will be too!<br/>Coffee was great and the eggs were delicious
Dan
Food was average. Service and coffee was good. The menu was pleasantly different and presentation was polite but the flavour didn’t deliver. Homemade bread was too dense and heavy. Too many beardy 20 somethings.
Hangry Hangry Hipster
Consistently great place for breakfast. Coffee is also awesome. Almond milk always a bonus here. Lots to like including mixed mushies with poached egg and labne, sunflower seeds on rye with smoked salmon is amazingly fresh and always satisfies. High chairs and a kiddies corner seal the deal for us. Have been many times and it's a shame we have moved out of the area because it was so handy!
Edie
Great coffee. Great food. Great service. Very kid friendly.

We stopped for a quick breakfast at Kettle Cafe in Lathlain this morning, and I ordered the “One pot egg” dish with chilli sausage, pepperonata, potato & gruyere ($17). This isn’t the kind of dish I’d normally order – it’s a violation of the egg / bean / tomato separation principle – but today I was converted! It wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting from the description, but it was by no means bland – the sauce was beautifully rich, the potato perfectly soft, the cheese went all melty and the egg brought it all together! This was one of the tastiest breakfast dishes I’ve eaten in a long time. The relatively small menu at Kettle Cafe includes some traditional items and interesting dishes such as sweet potato with haloumi, poached egg, black quinoa & herb salad ($18), banana bread with vanilla cream, berries & pistachio ($14), hickory smoked mushrooms with poached eggs, rye & labne ($18) and the “fill up” breakfast with chorizo, bacon, mushroom, rosemary potatos, tomato & eggs ($20). There was also a selection of delicious looking sandwiches in the counter fridge including a pulled pork, red cabbage & brie roll which I would have bought for lunch if I’d been heading home. Kettle Cafe was getting very busy by the time we left, and I can see why. Recommended.

Went here for brunch today. The Cafe is tucked away down a quiet street next to a park- we sat outside and enjoyed the peace and perfect weather! The menu is varied and has nice twists on breakfast classics, as well as more lunchy type options. The fresh juices look so yummy- I had the apple, strawberry and melon. It was delicious and came in a generous size. I ordered the full breakfast which was also very generally sized. The bacon was flavourful and the bread fresh and crunchy. I also liked the potato and vegetable rosti that came with it- it made the traditional full brekkie which can sometimes be too rich and oily, light an almost healthy! I will definitely come here again and try the other items on the menu. Fortunately I'm a half hour walk away so will be a perfect excuse!

Feedback from a loyal but slightly dissapointed customer. I've always loved Kettle cafe, it is quaint, pretty and has a wonderful ambience and service. I've been coming here since before the change in management because everyone deserves some support especially in running a cafe. However, today's meal has compelled me to write a review. Ordered the salmon salad and was very disappointed. It was poorly constructed and seemingly made up of things from the "extras" section. Just a plate of greens drenched in mayo - like dressing, a blob of near brown guacamole at the side, 3 pieces of baby tomato, slapped on top with two pieces of mushy and warm smoked salmon and an egg on the side, also found two small bugs in my salad so I just left it as it is. The plate just looked like a joke. I've come in nearly 3 times a week and have brought countless friends with me as well, but I hope Kettle cafe maintains their standards and some pride on foods for future customers. Sadly, I will no longer be back but I have loved the place. All the best kettle I hope my feedback serves you well.

Hidden Gem!. Went to Kettle for breakfast for the first time today. After a minor mistake with our order (easily made), it was quickly rectified and we were offered free drinks. The service was fantastic, food was fantastic, coffee was excellent, and fresh juice yummy! Plus the place had a nice vibe about it. We will definately be making this our Sunday regular from now on!

Great place. Had not been to kettle for quite some time, honestly was not much there to attract me, but went on sunday with a few friends for a quick breaky and was pleasantly surprised with the turn around to the place, it looked more inviting and funky. ordered lamb hash and harissa. it was amazing and the coffee was great. keep up the good work guys.

A gorgeous little wonder. I have been to this cafe before and did not think it was that great or special. It had a dull vibe.<br/>I was suggested by one of my friend's to try it out again. I went to try it out and had breakfast there.I was pleasantly surprised with the place the new owners have put new life into it, it feels much more welcoming and interesting.<br/>I ordered an omelette and my husband had lamb<br/>and it was absolutely yummm!!! <br/>Highly recommended do try!!!
Mega
Not as good as previous owners. <br/>Small soggy croissant.<br/>Served tea with no milk.<br/>French toast was bland with no syrup or sauce to soak in. The 'dark choc' was literally a tiny grating over the top.<br/>Big breakfast was small and boring & $20!!<br/>Not coming back. Such a shame.
Belinda.eder
Gone down hill since new owners took it over. We have tried 3 times since the new owners took over and the food is no where near as good. The place has lost its vibe and today I tried to buy a bag of coffee beans and the price has gone from $30 (original price) to $35 (when first taken over) to $45!!! I can buy it cheaper online including postage. There has been a huge staff turnover and the menu is not inviting. The opening times are not published and on a Saturday lunchtime, the pale was dead. New owners are clearly greedy. We won;t go back.

Not good anymore. Your croissant is yuck. I miss the previous owners!!!

I wasnt aware the existence of this lovely place until an article published in WAToday. After being convinced by the story in that article, I quickly put this into my Urbanspoon wishlist. And today I finally managed to try the goodness of this hidden gem. Settling in a quite neighborhood, next to a busy roadwork requiring us to detour. Love the cafe interior, table setting and flower. We ordered sweet potato rosti and sunflower rye bread with avocado cajun. Both tasted good but the rye bread was too hard and crusty, not sure if it has been overtoasted. Long mac and Morning Glow juice was great too. Food was slightly small in size but the price was lower than some famous cafes in Vic Park too, so I think that's quite fair enough. Staffs were friendly and attentive too. Overall it's been a pleasant dining experience in this hidden gem!

One of my favs ... definitely recommended!!. One of my favs in the Lathlain area.... generally quiet... definitely a hidden gem!<br/><br/>We keep on coming back ..... service is good, coffees are great and not too pricey. The cafe is catered to mum's with bubs.... easy access to shop and restrooms.... nice natural light projecting into the cafe.. very inviting.... free wifi... outside tables.. plenty of free parking..... highly recommended.... Greedy Chupster signing out!

The new management have changed things quite a bit inside and they aren't as friendly as the old owners. The menu seems to have shrunk too but I rekon the chef is still the same so the food is as good as it used to be
Monk_od
What happened?. I agree, the fella making the coffees needs to crack a smile, perhaps that's why the coffee tasted bitter? The coffee at kettle has always been creamy and smooth. I don't know what has happened since it changed hands, either new beans or different technique in making it, but the coffee does not taste great, the way it usually had. Rather burnt and not nice tasting beans. Really unfortunate as kettle is the coffee shop closest to home, and to work. I have given it a few chances to improve since the ownership changed hands, but it's not happening. Don't know if the food is still any good, but if the coffee isn't right then I'm not stopping for a meal either.

My chilli beans. Great food , coffee and friendly staff ! Tucked away near vic park it's a hidden gem

Great Place!!. For lunch today we enjoyed a casual dining experience at a café just down the road from where we live. Unless you lived locally, or were told about this place; you would be hard pressed to know it existed.<br/>The menu doesn't have a great range to choose from, but what is offered is fresh and extremely tasty. My wife probably selected the wrong dish, but the cheese burger she agreed was quite flavoursome. The caramelised onion and blue cheese tart with a pear and rocket salad was my selection, and I enjoyed every last morsel.<br/>If you are at loose ends and starved as they say for something different and enjoyable; I doubt whether you could beat this place.
OnePointFive
Miso Mushroom was interesting. Didnt really like cornbread comes with it, very filling tho. Poached eggs were perfectly done. Coffee was smooth. The only downside, was timing again. They do take their time to cook, even when they are not busy.
I Luv Food
Good hidden cafe down a quiet street. The cafe is nice, I enjoyed my quinoa granola and skinny Capp. However my sister ordered the beetroot and cumin rostie, it wasent very nice .. Tasted like cumin and that's about it - think she ordered the wrong thing as everyone else's meals were yum!
Arothoss
Good approach and good vibe I like different and I really enjoyed my breakfast here :)

The new breakfast menu is a bit disappointing! Need to keep a few traditional favourites....

Kind of a hidden gem!!. Loved the atmosphere at this hidden gem at the end of our street! Menu was SO GOOD we found it hard to decide. Service was great and food was tasty. Love the feel of the place and the comfortableness of it. Also there's PARKING!! Will be coming back here soon.

So very dissapointed. Have been here before and loved it...today was such a huge disappointment. We ordered nearly $60 worth of food for the 2 of us as we were starving after the gym and our food service took an hour and 10 mins to be served. I can accept the wait if the food is fantastic, but not for cold greasy slosh with rubber hard poached eggs and our extra sides of bacon being rind and cold fat... my husband and I both stood and left utterly disgusted with both quality of food, service and value for money.

Tasty. Had breakfast there today, after reading great reviews, wasn't let down. Long Mac was nice flavor and temp. The field mushroom dish with baby tomato's and goats cheese was very tasty. I do think thicker bread maybe needed as it was slightly on the soft side but in all great flavors. A must try is the banana pancakes with salted caramel. They are very thick pancakes but don't be put off. they weren't heavy and stogy at all. they were delicious light and fluffy. Kettle Café worth a visit.

Loved the salmon and the mushroom dishes. Great coffee and home made iced teas too.
ForkAndSpoon
Went here for breakfast. I had the grilled mushrooms with caramelised onions, goats curd and poached eggs. Was absolutely amazing and for $19 not bad at all. The eggs were perfect and the stick balsamic drizzled over at the end just topped everything off. The only probably was we waited about 20 minutes on a quiet Monday morning for our meal. Not sure what it would be like if it were busy.
Nicole
Amazing!. Thank you to the team at Kettle for a fabulous, fresh and tasty lunch yesterday.<br/>We ordered food to have in our office for Melbourne Cup and it was all packed up and ready to go when we picked it up.<br/>If you’re looking for a friendly local café this is the place to go! Amazing food and coffee.
Foodman
Really good food and coffee. car park is just outside. A big park is just opposite to the cafe. Very relax environment and atmosphere!!!!

Charming little cafe. Came here for breakfast during the week. good coffee, really friendly service and tasty meals. the only fault i could find was that the toast was cold however the rest of the dish (field mushrooms with eggs, goats curd etc), was delicious!
FoodNinja
Top coffee. Came here for lunch...and found a brunch menu. Not sure if there is a separate lunch menu on weekdays. Anyhoo...tried the corn fritters (good flavours in the accompaniment but the fritters were way too doughy), beef and mushroom pie (great flavours in the beef but overcooked so it was dry and hard to chew), and the bubble and squeak with hot smoked salmon (top pick - good flavours, good size for brunch, with a side of asparagus). Suggest an order of mushrooms as extra - these were the highlights...salty, buttery, just the way field mushrooms should be. Top points for the coffee - beautiful latte art and the top froth was thick and creamy. The cakes looked tempting so tried the coffee and walnut cake. Quite delish overall.
Chlobert
Nice place with a relaxed atmosphere. They didn't have any mango though which was disappointing. The food was average, nothing to go nuts over.
Tribonia
Very nice breakfast. Not a fan of the coffee beams used but coffee was better than average.
