First visit. Lotteries / Black swan live broadcast venue of Summer of the Seventeenth Doll. Very welcoming. Staff very quickly made us feel at home. Well organised event. Our $10 brisket in a roll was the best I've had. We will be going back!
Found at the city end of the Albany Highway strip is Dutch Trading Co. It’s a hip hang out for craft beer lovers and good news… it’s also family friendly! I was meeting some of my friends for a casual catch up, with kids in tow. As soon as I stepped inside the bar I knew I’d been here before, in a past (kid-free) life, back in the day when it was known as Manhattans. Chef was doing his apprenticeship at the Hyatt and this was a after work hang out, just over the Causeway.
Fantastic selection of craft beers and great pub food, the dirty fries were epic. The chicken waffle burger was something different. Live music on a Sunday mate a perfect end of the week
😊
Visited tonight, Thursday. Ordered a flank beef dish, cooked amazingly well, so food is excellent and good value, played free pool. Not many people in due to roadworks just outside. But ...... bottled and canned beer !I ordered a Little Creatures 'Rodgers' it arrived in the smallest glass from a tiny bottle, that was a little disappointing, $9.00 for ess than half a pint .... oh well....
Overall would really recommend this place for the food from a chef who loves what he does .... took time out to explain how he cooked the flank beef ... basically making a cheap cut taste like fillet ... well done Chef.
Went there with friends and all of us was enjoyed very well. The staffs were all friendly and very helpful. Service was efficient and friendly.
This place is very underrated and quite the hidden gem down at the end of Vic Park. The place is kid friendly (with a little sand pit at the back too in the courtyard!) and absolutely delicious food. I love the vibe, very chilled and great music. I've had quite a range of foods here as I first discovered it at their invitation as part of a blogging event but it's definitely been one of my top experiences being invited somewhere.
I was honestly not expecting the food to be so innovative and delicious! The fried chick peas was the stand out - bloody amazing in texture with a soft centre but crispy outside and great flavour. The other was the fried chicken salad - the chicken was just amazing so I need to go back for more chicken. They had a brilliant range of both local and internatiomal beers, and service was relaxed and not pushy. Just writing this makes me want to go back now as it's already been too long!
A good venue that could be great with some tweaks. The service was good. I want this place to succeed where Manhattans and Causeway did not, so I'll provide some constructive advice for the owner. At mid afternoon the venue was very dark inside, it wasn't atmospheric, it was annoying not being able to see my food. Those "old school" lights look really cool but they need something practical to augment the designer lights. The lighting definitely needs to be improved. The argumentation lighting could be turned off at night when the dark atmosphere is a good thing. The pint prices are about $2 too much for the current market - the mining boom is over and other establishments have adapted and are doing $8 pints, DTC has not adapted and $12 to $18 a pint is way over the odds. Maybe $10-$16 per pint would be closer to the current retail market. The beef burger was perfect except for the beef - I think they got the mince mix wrong (too lean) or they overcooked it because it was rock hard. The rest of the burger (mustard/pickle/cheese/etc) was really on point and saved the burger and the spice rub on the fries was a nice touch (the rub tasted something like garam masala or curry powder mixed with something sweet/sugary).
So overall it is good but not great. We generally go to Varsity Waterford and we preferred their burgers and atmosphere to DTC but DTC's beer was better but too expensive. So DTC is losing 2 categories and neutral in 1 category. To take the win they'll need cheaper beers, improve the burgers and improve the lighting.
Great chips, great range - pricey - but great choice of beers, which is why you go. Enjoy the tasting paddle. They take eftpos. Knowledgeable staff.
This bar is for beer lovers, although the other drinks and the kitchen offerings are rather enticing too. The staff love to tell you about the beers, something like 50 different options on a giant chalkboard to choose from, but they'll also be quick to help you choose a red wine or a mix drink. No snobs here.
Hands down the best place in Perth for beer lovers, not to mention the absolute best burgers in town. The brioche fried chicken and Cajun coffee rubbed beef flank burgers are the best things I've ever eaten.
Come check these guys out if you haven't!
The Dutch Trading Company is a Victoria Park gem from the people behind The Classroom and Lucky Chan’s Laundry & Noodlebar. The inspiration here is “the spirit of the Dutch Empire that for 200 years led the world in exploration, trade, culture and art”, and traversed the western coast of Australia before the British set up shop here.
Great atmosphere and very cool venue. A temple for the beer lovers amongst us, including the one I live with. Food is ok without being fab, and it's only for this fact that it gets a 4.
The Dutch Trading Co (DTC) is a really cool hangout place. The space was divided into the front and back of the house area. The back area is very suitable for a group booking especially with the availability of the communal tables. The restaurant also has its own kids' playground available to provide a bit of a breathing time for the parents.
The strength of this place is the great selection of beers on tap. There's a selection of food available which is good. The only downside is the beer tends to be on the $$$$ side.
Ruddy good beer
Ruddy good and friendly service
Food selection is varied, catering for GF, vegan, calorie counters and for your die hard meat lovers!
Kid friendly with an enclosed play area out the back and other areas to hold functions too.
What is there not to like? Get yourself down for a pint of craft served with a genuine smile from these knowledgeable beer enthusiasts.
With a group on nine on a Saturday night, it’s usually quite a struggle to find somewhere decent with good food, drinks and isn’t overly noisy to hear each other talk. With a few phone calls, we were able to get a table at the Dutch Trading Company. MC has been before, however this was my first time, so wasn’t sure what to expect on arrival.
A beer lover’s paradise, The Dutch Trading Co offers a moving feast of 300+ beers from Australia and overseas. The food was surprisingly tasty (and un-Dutch) as I discovered during a recent freebie food blogger lunch!
Likes: smashing bar snacks, Southern fried chicken with kale (counts as salad)
Dislikes: the smoked banana split didn’t impress and the watermelon and coconut pie is too sweet
Overall: huge list of beers, bar snacks on point, tasty meals for under $25
Walking in, the new look struck me as an understated triumph. Dark wood tables and a matching bar fit perfectly with a spectacular mural featuring a Dutch galleon. High ceilings give the room a chilled vibe, and an unobtrusive corner platform means Sunday sessions are sound-tracked by live music... The most impressive aspect of the decor was, of course, the beer list. A behemoth blackboard features some top chalk work, detailing all 18 of the draft brews Dutch Trading Co offers at any one time...
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
+3.5
Last week we were invited to come along to lunch with a few Perth foodies at The Dutch Trading Co at Victoria Park. The Dutch Trading Co. was born in 2015 out of a belief in sharing better beer and was rated as Australia’s 5th Best Metro Beer Venue by industry experts for Beer & Brewer magazine. If you love beers, the Dutch Trading Co shouts beer heaven featuring 18 rotating taps of the best beers from around Australia and the world plus an ever changing 300 bottle list. Now, we’re talking take me to beer heaven!
Great range of beers and nice pub food with that touch of Dutchness. We had some share plates which were nice. Loved the croquettes! Beer is served in large brandy balloon glasses
So much beers to choose from and usually wont find it anywhere else. The thing is its really expensive but this is where you need to get onto Clipp ,I saved 30% on everything last night and this made it well worth it. Atmosphere was great like the rocking tunes and the food was not too shabby. Im not a fan of the Bitterballen but everything else was real decent.
Came here for a drink after work with a friend, lovely atmosphere during quiz night! staff very friendly! Theres a HUGE selection of craft beer on tap which is great however the prices are crazy, but I guess that's due to small imports. Went for the wine which was lovely as well, so no faults there :) Would definitely return for special occasions with friends.
Yep i liked it nice extended selection of craft beers and quite extended menu as well. Music a bit loud but well, numerous seating places and even a terrace. I had the deep fried camembert that was really really good BUT they totally forgot to put the shaved prosciutto in, which was the main reason I had that dish in the first place, and I had no one to tell as I was by myself and couldn't leave my spot with all my stuff and no one came to check upon me. So I find it quite annoying to spend 22$ and get half the dish I was supposed to have.
I can only judge this place on the beer selection as we didn't eat during our visit. Based on the beers, ambience, staff and originality, this place is fantastic. Beers are divided into WA, rest of Aus/NZ and international with some really interesting brews on offer. Prices are on par with Perth prices for craft beer. Loved the decor, absolutely brilliant spot for a drink, we'll definitely be back.
This place is a brave venture, showcasing unique beers from around the world.
I suppose you could say it is the equivalent of a wine bar for beer lovers.
The prices are not cheap, but you are getting quite an experience, of which you would have to go a long way to find an equal in Perth.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Really enjoyed our visit to this bar. Not a small place but the atmosphere is good. Amazing range of bottled beer with great selection of beers on tap. Wine by the glass not so much choice but something there for everyone. Menu has the usual share plate options mixed with some great new combinations and alternatives. Pricing concept is good group food types by price. Definitely recommend this neighbourhood gem.
Super trendy and awesomely fitted out bar, so glad to see bars like this popping up in Vic Park FINALLY! We just came for a lazy Sunday arvo drink and it was chilled music and relaxed atmosphere. I had the Double Dutch Mule cocktail and it was delicious! Here the day after Halloween so fun decorations were still out. Can't wait to come back here at night to check it out.
Bloody amazing beer selection for craft beer guzxlers. Food is very good. All at good prices I think this may be the best craft beer venue in australia booting Adelaides wheatsheaf hotel of its pedestal
Having first visited in early July, I was very impressed with the accommodating staff, quality craft beer range, well priced wine list and awesome menu and I now return weekly for their great quiz night.
This is just what Vic Park needed!
Totally agree with the other reviewer about the chairs and tables tho...
A very good selection of craft beers on rotation. The food was good with the beer. Friendly staff and very efficient. Decor is good besides from the random plastic chairs and tables that don't suit the rest of the bar. If you like craft beers on tap (especially rare ones) this is the place to go.
Was extremely busy but theyanaged to find us a table.
Prices were higher than normal but the food was good.
Wait time for food was minimal and the staff were all friendly and approachable.
Love this place! Friendly staff and patrons. Pretty good food. Can be a bit pricey though.
Pricey but a lovely bar. They have one of the best beer ranges in Perth and the drinks menu rotates regularly. Beware that they can end up with a lot of one type of beer here (when we went it was heavy IPA). The massive tasting paddle is a great time and really impressive look! Love the food here too.

Exceptional beer with great variety. Perfect place to go with a couple of friends, do pre drinks or just have a casual catch up. Food could improve, however the week specials/deals are very good for the price.
My first time here and I loved it. Great setup with the family/kids section. There is an awesome beer selection both on tap and in the fridges. I had a few nibbles and the food was nice. Will come back again.
Huge range of beers on tap and in the fridge, all craft and quality beers and a good range of quality spirits accompanied by a menu that favours quality over quantity.
We have been here a couple of times now, and have enjoyed ourselves both times.
The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable about the beers and spirits on offer and the venue itself has a nice cosy feel.
Quiet drinks on a late Friday night. Nice selection of imported and local craft beers, a little pricey but worth it.
Got really good food and nice events for beer tasting. Love the dark beer and stout nights
If you love craft beer this is the place for you.
Great takeaway specials and huge range. Fun lucky dip tins and good prices. Service was good with varied seating arrangements.
