Review Jewel Of The Park - Victoria Park

Bernadette Riseborough
Great food fantastic service. Owner was really funny joking around. Very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend.

I love this place, I was introduced to Jewel of the Park by a good friend of mine just over a year ago and lost count how many times I’ve been back since. Quality food and reasonable priced drinks.

Lovely restaurant with yummy curry and great friendly staff. So great to the original owner back! Cheers guys. Vindaloo was excellent

We were a group of 7, my 6 friends shared meals and all were really nice. My stomach doesn't like a mixture of food so I ordered the Goat curry, it was fantastic. Great food and service super friendly
Ashleigh van Nierop
Excellent, quality food. We made a large takeout order, there was a small miscommunication where we were missing one curry. When I returned 15 minutes later the owner had a fresh curry made immediately and did not charge for it. He was apologetic and friendly the entire experience. The decor is also beautiful creating warm ambiance. I highly reccomend.

I don't order food often, but when I do it's usually here lately. I did today and they forgot to put 2 cheese garlic naans in.. it's $15. When I called I was told he'll be sorting it out with my next order... I asked how he would remember, he said he will he's the owner... So I'm leaving this review here, as a reminder... if this will be resolved with the next order as promised, I'll definitely give 5 stars. . UPDATE: He kept his word and so did I. 5 stars from me, because I love the food and appreciate the kept promise.

My husband picked up some takeaway tonight and we haven't been in a while to Jewel of the Park but was absolutely delicious! Customer service is real and genuine and the meal was fresh and tasty! Thanks so much guys, as we know it's a tricky time managing a business in the restaurant industry in these times. See you soon. Caryll and Gavin

The owner and staff are absolutely lovely! If your looking for beautiful food, an amazing environment and wonderful staff look no further. I can’t get over how amazing everyone was to my family and I will be going back!

Consistently good food. It's easy to dismiss Indian food as takeaway, but not at the Jewel where the dining is always a pleasure. There must be a reason why I always return to this place that I need not explain.
Do yourself a f(l)avour and don't bypass the Jewel.

We came to Jewel of the Park by accident, really, as our regular Indian in Vic Park was unexpectedly closed. I have to say, Jewel is a worthy rival!

In terms of food, we were very satisfied. We ordered one serve of onion bhajis, which was generously portioned with six bhajis. We also ordered a butter chicken, lamb Rogan Josh, rice to share and garlic naan. The quality of the meat in the curries was excellent and very tender. The butter chicken for me was missing that smokiness to cut through the sweetness and creaminess, but it was still very good. Overall, very happy with the food.

Service was also excellent. It was friendly and prompt and they were honest with the portion sizes and didn't try to upsell you or make you order too much. I like that!

Jewel of the Park satisfied my craving for curry. I'd happily return!
Sasha
Tried this again after many years..i ate in a few years ago and remember the food being good. However just got a takeaway curry this time...the chicken pieces were hard and dry and hardly many pieces in the portion...the curry seemed like it was straight from a jar and lacked any flavour. The garlic naan was good but such a rip off for the size.

If you try jewel of the park you are so lucky I have their best Indian dresses like mutton rogan juice chicken tikka garlic naan and many more Indian curries like dal makhani
Aimee
The lamb dish we got was lovely. However the Tikka Masala was not what I was expecting. It did not have the creaminess that you get with tikka masala curry. It looked like sweet & sour sauce.
S.
Butter chicken was creamy, rich and full of decent amounts of chicken, and the garlic naan was great, however extremely pricey. Service had plenty of room for improvement.
Steak And Carrot
Average food👎, friendly staff, very nice classy decor/restaurant, available highchair☑️, DIRTY DIRTY toilets 😷😷

Entree- vegetable pakora, different to others i have eaten, more like a clump of mixed veggies. Very very dry average tasting. Garlic naan bread was nice and complimentary papadums with dipping sauce were a nice bonus!

Steak ordered Vindaloo - wasn't spicy, very thick and bland, was disappointing.

Carrot ordered Dahl- bland, bland bland. I did order it mild so my 2.5yo could share but still no excuse for lacking any depth of flavour.

Aside from the food the toilets and even sink and floor in there were so dirty and unkept or cleaned that it made me worry about how clean the kitchen was? Wont be back unfortunately 👎

Literally just ordered Uber Eats from this place (50 min wait) Was excited because have heard good things about this place. When we received our order, we had ordered the Jewel Non Vegetarian Platter, Butter Chicken, Briyani Rice, Raita, Potato Curry, Mango Kulfi and Garden Greens. Upon inspection, discovered that there was only one small samosa despite the description of the entree describing it that it served two people. Felt very misled by the description and price ($18.95) for what it appears to be a very measly entree. Really let our birthday meal down. Everything else was fine (butter chicken tasted very sweet and almost came from a jar?) but very overpriced for misleading and mediocre dishes. Have had much better Indian from Bollywood Spices in North Perth. Please evaluate before ordering!
Ethan Zachary
Excellent customer service and the food was amazing, would recommend to any of my friends and come back again soon. The goat curry was beyond compare

Heard great things about this place so decided to check it out. Started off with a complimentary basket of pappadums. We then had the cheesy garlic naan and aloo parantha to eat with the curries palak paneer (favourite!) and chicken tikka masala. Not cheap but portion size is big - huge chunks of chicken and generous amounts of sauce. Was actually tempted to takeaway the leftover sauce to have it with bread the next day cause it was so tasty!

We went here on Sunday night for a girls night. We didn't make a booking and they were more than happy to seat us.
We ordered the butter chicken, a daahl, papadums, rice and garlic naan. We had to clarify the food a few times, as she seemed a little unsure with the order.
The food was amazing! Probably the best that I have had in Perth for some time.
They happily boxed up the leftovers for us to take home.

I am revising a review I made earlier after two bad experiences with delivery services. The food at Jewel is better than just about anywhere else and I feel the review should purely focus on the food. Their chilli prawns is fantastic.
Sheena Sheena
Naan were like as if brought from super market. Chicken vindaloo was loaded with chillies and lacked salt. Wine just saved the meal! Expensive as compared to the food served😏
Reena
Service was terrible. Our waitress came to take our order after 10 minutes of us having to find a table for ourselves. After we ate, our remaining food and plates were not cleaned up or removed for 30 minutes and of us finally managing to get the attention of a passing waiter.

The food was sickly sweet (Sizzling Chilli Chicken) and the vindaloo sauce tasted like it came out of a jar. The fish in the fish vindaloo was not fresh and had a very fishy taste to it. The pista kulfi was very very hard and icy, which is not how Kulfi is meant to be.
It was also very expensive considering the lack of service and freshness of the food. Not impressed.

Nothing but just another DODGY 5$ worth curry made from 2$ readymade curry jars available at Indian stores...Guys pls stop going to these dodgy places who uses INDIAN to fool people in Australia...Go to Places like Royal India in west Perth,,SAUMA in North Bridge...Or two fat indians in Cottesloe...Bollywod Near Ikea...or Metro in Subiaco...But don't go to these dodgy Taxi driver turned chefs restaurants

We have come to Jewel of the Park several times over the last few years and have had consistently good food and service. Some photos are attached of last night's meal, the veg options are always great (as is the case for most Indian venues) and the goat biryani is a particular favourite of mine.

Don't judge a book by its cover!
This place may look dodgy from the outside, but once inside you are met with an airy layout and accomodating service. Curries are very nice, balanced with vegies, meat and sauce it is never too oily or too dry! Naan is fluffy and tasty. The staff don't nag you at the table either, it's a very relaxing experience.

Waited 40+ minutes to get our entree! Had a Scoopon but when we were seated it was not explained to us what we could choose from the menu & neither were we served the glass of wine included until our entree came. So we sat for 40 mins with only a glass of water and unable to raise anyone to explain this. So time wasted. Entree (vege platter) was good (a little more sauce for two needed, though) and the serving size of mains was perfectly adequate. Lamb Rogan Gosh and Chicken Korma meats were both a tad dry (chicken could have been cut into smaller pieces as well as being more moist). Service was very slow and a couple of times my husband had to go looking for the waitress to replenish water or ask when our food would be coming. Obviously not enough staff for the number of customers they pack in! Probably would not return for this reason alone.

Best butter chicken in town! Service was a bit slow but well worth the wait! Ordered meat samosa to start which was packed full of flavor! Followed but butter chicken and chicken korma which was just as delicious! Worth a try!

We love jewel in the park
The service, food, atmosphere and authenticity of this Indian restaurant is by far the best Indian cuisine in Perth.

We love hot curries, the beef vindaloo was phenomenal!

Thankyou so much for a lovely evening in your beautiful restaurant.
Bifurious1
My favourite restaurant! Love the Chicken Korma and Potato Naan. Have tried their sister restaurant in Penang (Jewel of the North) and the quality is similar. Always good food whenever we go. Been coming here for years.
Foodieperth
OMG never given a 5 for an Indian restaurant before but this place deserves one. I came here on Friday night to be seated by the busy waitstaff. We ordered the lamb curry with rice, plain naan bread and raita. Huge servings for a start!! And the food came out in 5 minutes :) The lamb was so soft and tender and I dipped the warm naan in it. It was a very tasty meal.
Keisha Davies
amazing service, and amazing food!
Every dish was delicious! Food was prompt from when ordering, and the waiter made suggestions about each dish. Between a table of 5 girls, we each ordered a main and there was enough for us all to try some of each dish and take home a lunch for the next day! Staff were amazing and was quite busy!
Matt Jordan
Awesome. We've been coming here for years. Best butter chicken in Perth. I still haven't tried every entree but we will. We still come here at least once a fortnight and we've moved 30min away.

Highly recommend

Always delicious - staff are helpful and happy to recommend dishes - authentic and delicious.😀very hot vindaloo , butter chicken, korma, puppadoms are warm , fresh and crispy , gorgeous naan, vegetables - licensed.
THE WORST DINE IN EXPERIENCE IN PERTH SO FAR
have no idea who cooked the meal we ordered yesterday. Honestly a non Indian novice cook can produce a better dinner than what we were given in the name of kadai panner( managers reco) and malai kofta. Both had exactly the same uncooked tomato sauce although they are two completely different curries. To top it up I am surprised at the total indifference of the manager who did not think of asking us even once why are we leaving the table in exactly 5 mins of getting the food. (after a 40 mins wait as they were short staffed too).
Thanks for ruining my hubbys bday.

T8wy June 2016:

1. Potato Naan. 4.0/5.0. Good. Really like this potato stuffed naan.

2. Beef Shahi Korma. 4.0/5.0. Good. The herbs and spices stand out, compared to Beef Korma from Spicy Affair.

3. Lamb Madras (Hot). 4.0/5.0. Good. First time eating Lamb Madras.

So I've only tried ready-made takeaway meals but the restaurant has plenty of seating available to dine in. Courteous, helpful people serving food they really know how to cook. The tender squid curry was spicy and delicious. Vegetables in curry sauce, and steamed rice rounded out the meal nicely.

Love this place. I go here often and the food is consistently good and service always delivered with a smile! My favourites are the Bombay Prawn curry, garlic cheese naan bread and of course their awesome butter chicken!

This is a fantastic venue. We have been more times than i can count and every single time it has been great. We often look forward to going to dinner here.

Just had a take out meal from this restaurant and will not be using it again. Portions were tiny, with hardly any meat in the sauce. Lamb Bhuna was awful! Other dishes were ok but very expensive for what we got.
On the plus side, the staff on the phone and in the restaurant were very pleasant.
Not happy!
Asha
My second visit to Jewel of the Park, upon arriving you are brought complementary papadums and dipping sources which is a nice touch. The service is good and attentive we ordered the butter chicken and beef vindaloo. The beef vindaloo wasn't as hot as we'd hoped for and the meat could have been a bit more tender but overall flavour was good. The butter chicken was ok but rather sweet which I wasn't expecting. We also had some Onion Bhaji and Naan bread and rice for $60 it's a bit more expensive than what we usually like to pay for our Indian fix.
My favourite Indian without a doubt. Their butter chicken is to die for, it's the Indian dish my children were first introduced to- and still love today. Cheesy naan... Just amazing. The food and service are always very good, good comes out quick, fresh and we've never had a bad dish in the 7 years we've been going. Tried other Indians- but we've never felt that any in Perth have compared to Jewel in the Park

I ordered 3 different chicken dishes today. While picking up the food we were told by their staff not to take the butter chicken as it is not cooked well and suggested to get something else. We got another chicken dish instead. The food was the most disgusting food i have ever had. Chicken tikka masala had huge dry chicken breast pieces in a gravy which i do not know what it was but not tikka masala. Dry chilli chicken had liquid running at the bottom and chicken breast was overcooked and dry with some soggy veggies. Chicken karahi which is advertised as chicken cooked on the bone had the same dry chicken breast and no chicken on the bone. I called up the restaurant to provide some feedback and the staff said that i have not cooked it so its not her fault. I then found that one of the chefs was not working today and he may be the only chef i guess. The person incharge or the owner called me later and as i was talking started giving me reasons why the food is like how i told them. so i was told the karahi chicken which is described as chicken on the bone is not chicken on the bone because the weather makes the chicken dry makes the the reason it is not told to customers is because they get 50 customers everyday and they cannot tell each person ordering it that they have changed it. I was told all indians are suggested everyday not to buy butter chicken as it is does not have the taste they expect. Did not get a chance to discuss more as i thought there are too many reasons why the food is not good. Who ever was talking to me was speaking more than me with excuses so i had to end the call. Will never eat tgere again and tell my fireind too.i do not write any reviews but this one deserved one

First timer...I'm vegan so as per..always cautious when trying new eats. Booked and explained I was vegan. Told it wasn't a problem. Just let staff know. So on the night..ready to place order. My hubbie is Omni so no probs for him. Asked the friendly waiter what was vegan on the menu..he suggested the paneer...uh oh. That's cheese...I said. He took off.. But before you could say boo..had another staff member who was extremely helpful. Pointed out what was vegan friendly. Shared onion Bhaji and the mushroom pakora. Nan bread is not vegan. I had chana masala.. Was delish. Hubbie had chicken jalfrezi. He loved his. Would definitely return.

The best butter chicken me and my friend have ever laid tastebuds on! Always epic!! The lamb korma was very tasty too, cheese and garlic naan.. Need I say more?

My favorite Indian restaurant so far. I adore their nan bread, biryani rice and butter chicken. Warm people and very attentive. Their menu have an accurate rating of chilliness,I trust that with my life. I always bring friends here if they have a craving for Indian food and Jewel of the park never disappoint.
Lola
Yummy ! We are regulars for a reason . The people are nice and the food is the best . We are unable to go to another Indian restaurant because this ones the best!!!

We had a celebratory meal here last week. We hadn't made a booking, but we were welcomed quickly. The table was sorted very quickly, removing excess wine glasses, providing cold water and child-friendly cups. Puppadums with mint and tamarind sauce came out quickly, then ordering was easy. We weren't left waiting without food. We ordered three mains, a mixed entree platter and a chicken entree, a mutter pulao and cumin rice. Plus a couple of naan breads, a homemade pickle and one of the children wanted the tomato soup. Everything was hot and delicious, we were not interrupted in our meal but were given fresh water and the empty plates were taken away very quickly. Staff were very friendly, when we had a question they were very happy to answer. We took food away with us in containers, and our baby made a big mess under the high chair, which the staff told us not to clean up! (We always pick up the extra mess) Overall it was a very positive experience, we felt very welcomed and the food was incredible. We could find no fault and would definitely go back!
InMyFaceHole
This place does fantastic food. We would always over-order and eat the lot. Their garlic naan and raita are delicious and all the curries are outstanding. The restaurant name fits the bill!!! Been coming here for years and consistently good.
Cornel Scheibling
Great meal - vindaloo was spicy and ready tasty - mushroom mutter was superb - goat curry tasty - naans were a bit pizzaery and small - onion bhaji among the best in Perth. Toilets are interesting and tiny.
Cassie
Went here with my friends. The food here was good, had nice curries and naan bread. My friends loved the butter chicken though I found it a bit sweet.

Having submitting a good review for this restaurant on trip advisor last night i would hate to say it but, pathetic customer service by the manager who works there (guy with a turban).

Ordered takeout last night and did not receive my lamb kebabs as ordered, so gave them a call back last night and the lady on the phone was very cooperative and friendly and offered to pick up the oder today. Called them up today and came across the rudest "manager" on the phone. He claimed to pack up the order himself and pretty much accused me of lying? Seriously? Over some tiny kebabs? Which i paid for? Being a regular reviewer of various restaurants in Perth on various sites, this definitely had the worst person working there with no customer service skills whatsoever. Basically pushed me away out of the restaurant without apologising like how he should. Ah well, won't be going back there again.
Food on the other hand was decent.
Cam209
The best Indian cuisine I have found in Perth so far. Whether you dine in or order takeaway, the food is consistently well presented and full of flavour. It is a little bit more expensive than other Indian restaurants but not excessively so. It's definitely worth the few extra dollars you pay for the top quality food.

The Jewel of the Park offers friendly service and great food. The prices are reasonable too. Overall I am very pleased with this restaurant.
Yasir
Good food and entertainment. Went to this restaurant tonight. Good to see it has both options of Buffet & Al a cart. Quite reasonable price. We chose buffet which includes entree, main course dishes (both veg and non-veg) & sweet afterwards. Taste was good and spices enough for our children to eat too.
Doublerainbow
Fantastic. Dined here for the first time last night and loved it. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food came out quickly and everything was delicious, loads of vegetarian options. I'll definitely be back.
Konvict_637
Good service. Service was really good. Entrees were really good too. Ordered biryaani as mains. It was a bit too spicy. If you are not used to eat eye watering spice, ask them for mild. Pretty good overall. Will go back again :)
Pandalora
Mango Prawns. Sweet with a subtle curry.

Out with friends. After a full day it was great to settle back and eat in a relaxed restaurant. Service was almost invisible ( in a good way) they were attentive yet not in your face or looking at you from the other side of the counter . Food was rich yet perfectly without being too hot for my palate. They allowed us to be a bit squally as girls together and the older style building absorbed the laughter. Lots of great things t say about it. Toilets are on the premises ( not always the case in Vic Park) and were clean and bright.

Best Goat Curry eeveerrr.... Tried other goat curry from other indian resto in vic park. Disappointed with the average taste n the small portion. The goat curry here is juicy and fall of the bone. Even my partner who doesn't eat goat ever.. started to like it .. Worth of try...

-----09 Dec, 2014-----

Must try the goat curry!. Always order extra spicy goat curry!! some place when u order very spicy food they would reluctant and i end up disappointing but not this one!! their prawn dish is sssòo gooddd too.. plus the owners is very nice man!!

Vic Park's BEST restaurant!. I frequent Jewel of the Park more often than what is healthy for me.
They provide fantastic service both dine-in and takeaway.
The staff are very friendly and kind natured.
..and the food -OH MY GOD, THE FOOD!
I have tasted almost everything on their menu and am bloen away by every dish! Each dish is exploding with their own unique, authentic flavours. The servings are very reasonable - I always have leftovers.
If you love a vindaloo their chicken vindaloo is incredible. Insabely spicy so definitely recommend a raita but flavours are just.. wow!
Above all else - Jewel does the BEST butter chicken in WA! rich, sweet, creamy, aromatic sauce. tender chicken breast. Absolutely to die for!
A superb restaurant and even vetter food - I give Jewel a 100 out of 5!

-----14 Nov, 2014-----

Lamb Roganjosh. Tender, melt in your mouth lamb in a deliciously flavourful gravy, garnished with fresh coriander.
Great serving size, always have some for leftovers the next day.
Fantastic dish! Nay, fantastic menu!

Excellent food and service. Fantastic dining experience 10/10.

The ambiance was calming and traditional, the service was prompt, and the food was delicious.

Our waiter whom was on his first shift was extremely accommodating to our requests, and had obviously been well trained by the senior management.

The Jewel of The Park stands out as a restaurant that prides itself in customer service and satisfaction.

Thank you for a wonderful time!

Andy and Chinmayee

Pure Bliss!!! Excellent service, beautiful food, what more????. Jewel of The Park has the most amazing, authentic Indian food in Perth. we have tried the food of man Indian Restaurants and we will always go back to Jewel of the Park. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff who made my daughters 16th a night to remember. I would highly recommend this"Gem of a restaurant" to each and everyone.
Many thanks again to the attentive and pleasant staff!!!

Table 5. Had heard about this restaurant from many friends, but have always been a bit nervous to try it after some bad Indian food experiences in Perth in the past. Wish I didn't wait so long! Hands down the best Indian food I have ever tasted. All 4 dishes were to die for and the Cheesy Garlic Naan, OMG. Quick service, well priced, friendly staff and a nice feel. Will certainly be back and recommending Jewel of the Park.
Leonbasham
Table 5. Really nice Indian! Some of the nicest food I've eaten on the strip!!
In_perth
Great authentic food, friendly staff will definately be back. So many Indian restaurants in Perth it's often hard to find one that has both great authentic food and good service but finally we found one. Jewel of the Park is good value for money and has a great range of vegetarian dishes also. We visited on a Monday night and were one of only two tables but once the food came we didn't even notice. Worth the visit and will be back.
Amitataya
Chat. Have been a regualar customer and been happy with what all they serve. There staff if very friendly and able to recognise the regular customers and their sitting preference[which I really love]. Now-a-days my new found love is the "Papri chat" which they make round the clock. And it really I mean really taste great. Can't express the happiness of eating chat in the night!!!!!
The chat is worth enough to satisfy my Indian taste buds!!!
Legendaryal
Disappointed but great food. We went to this restaurant yesterday night which was a Saturday night. I admit it was quite busy.
We were seated at our table but we were just left there for nearly 20 mins before we asked someone to take our orders. We were left sitting there with no water....nothing. When we did eventually place our order, it took nearly 50 mins for our food to come out....we were under the impression they had forgotten our order as when we asked them how long more it would take, they asked again what we ordered. There was also no apology. Other than that...the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken tikka was amazing, so was the paneer.
Hughraw
Best Indian food in Pert. This unassuming restaurant is as authentic Indian as Mumbai itself. I feel the chef here has held true to the traditional style. It rates with the Carlton Curry House in Melbourne which is widely recognized as being one ten best restaurants in Melbourne. It ticks the boxes for food, service and price.
Jas28
Quite Good!. Went here for dinner the other night with some friends and it was very good! They have a short cocktail menu, but they are all good. All the food was well prepared and the naan was good as well. Would definitely go back!
Yrag81
Consistently good.. I went here with 3 friends from work on Monday night. The restaurant we'd originally planned on going to turned out to be closed. A couple of us had been to the Jewel of the Park before and liked it, so off we went.

I had the Paneer Tikka Masala and thought it was delicious. The other people in the group were also happy with their choices. The waiter was very polite and attentive and was happy to answer any of our questions. One of my friends is a vegan and they were more than happy to accommodate her.

I don't claim to be any kind of an expert on Indian cooking. I'll just note that what is described as "medium" on their menu would probably be classified as "hot" in most of the other Indian restaurants I've been to. Not a criticism in any way, just an observation.

This is the fourth or fifth time I've been here. Each time I've found the food, the service and the atmosphere to be above average.
Nicholas_ross_58
Butter Chicken. The dishes were ok, but ridiculously expensive for what it is. service was good but. and would go back, just with a bigger wallet
Ish.kaur15
Amazing. We went their last night for first time. I must say the service was really good. Staff was very friendly. Nevertheless to say food was yummy. I loved the veggie pakodas and nanns were really soft and nice. Will definitely recommend to indian food lovers to go and try.
Kamal Benipal
I decided to give them a go after reading the reviews especially about the butter chicken. If you like your butter chicken coloured with artificial bright red colour and laced with sugar, this is the place for you. Again if you like yellow coloured, dry and chewy naans, please go waste your money there. If you know what good Indian food taste like then stay away from this place. The only thing working for this restaurant is there is hardly any good Indian in Vic Park apart from Himalayan
LaaLaa
Best butter chicken and onion bhajis I've ever eaten to date!
Samantha Whitewood
Best Indian in Perth. I have been here several times and it is yet to disappoint. The butter chicken is absolutely delicious, well balanced between creaminess and flavour - get it every time without fail it is that good. The sheesh kebab for starters is also another favourite, so moist and well cooked! The garlic naan is also the perfect combination between crunchy and soft! The gentlemen that run the establishment are ever so friendly and welcoming, very attentive and eager to please every customers. Give them a try, you won't be dissapointed.

First time customer! AMAZI.... First time customer!
AMAZING FOOD! The BEST butter chicken I've ever had !!!! Nom nom nom
We love your rice! Thank you so much! Great service! You will not be disappointed!! :] will definitely be returning again and again :]

BEST BUTTER CHICKEN IN PERTH
Our favourite menu items are the vege samosas, butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, garlic naan.. YUM!! Never disappointed!

Casual with nice food. First visit and chose Jewel of the park at random. Lucky choice and enjoyed the meal. The restaurant is casual dining with reasonable prices and great food. Staff were great and we will certainly go back.
Mjesus4evere
The Best Indian Restaurant in Perth. We visited our favourite Indian Restaurant again tonight because my daughters wanted their Mother to have her favourite meal for dinner. We always get butter chicken with plain rice and a garlic and cheese naan. Sometimes we get navratna Korma or a fish curry. We usually try a lassi or lemon lime and bitters and the girls usually have lemon squash. Every single time we go, the food is great, the staff are great and the environment is great. The price is very reasonable also. Quite often we will take friends and family with us to enjoy the great experience and good food. We have been to many Indian restaurants in the UK, New Zealand and Australia, but this one is by far the best one of all. Well done!! We have recommended this restaurant to so many people with confidence knowing they will enjoy their experience. This has been a perfect way to top off Mother's Day. Thanks and see you next time.

The best curry in Perth!! I love this place
Pallavi Shrivastava
Excellently 10/10... I went there today for dinner for the first time. Not aware of their timings, reached at about 9.45pm and they were almost closed. We thought we will opt for take away. But looking at our little daughter and our hungry souls, they very kindly offered us to dine in. I am a foodie n a special fan of Indian cuisine. So, I loved their sweet tamarind n sour mint chutney served before the main course n they were just out of this world. Then came the main course and that too was super delicious. I truly enjoyed my meal today after a very long time. The family who owns this place were so sweet and genuine people. A must visit place to serve your stomach some superb delightful food. All the best guys and keep rocking like this always..:-)

BEST NAAN EVER. We've been meaning to try this place since we moved to Vic Park 2 years ago, but we are probably twice a year Indian eaters when we've got the hankering. Tried the non-vegetarian starter which was lovely and the Beef Vindaloo (which tested even me for heat) and the Goat Korma which had a delicious sauce but came on the bone which while still very nice should have got a mention in the menu. But the garlic cheesy naan was a chart topper, best I've ever had which when washed down with a few Kingfishers made it a very nice night.

Basic decor. Good food. Would definitely go back.

Friendly staff, Good meals, Caters well for those with intolerances.. My partner and I visited this restaurant on a quiet week night, we arrived late and were the last to leave but staff didn't seem to mind and were quite friendly making our dinner enjoyable. The atmosphere made this place romantic which was good for us :).

The food was very nice, I had butter chicken, garlic nan and rice. My partner is gluten and lactose intolerance and staff were very helpful and reassuring when advising my partner what meals to choose.

My only complaint was the rice serving size was a little small, I was considering ordering a second rice but decided not to in the end. Overall great outing, highly recommended :).

Unsatisfied..... I found the the Garlic Naan and Butter Chicken had no flavour. It was just a nothing meal. Then because I was dining alone I wanted to take the left overs because the meal was already expensive, they charged me another dollar to do so. All up for the 3 items I believe it was just over $28 dollars. Disappointed and will not be going back

Attentive friendly service (even when busy), delicious food with good sized serves (doggy bag for next days lunch is a treat). Atmosphere, great for social gatherings with friends but for a more intimate meal there is an outer area that is quieter.

To die for.. Jewel of the Park has legitimately the best butter chicken in Perth, consistently amazing every time. Super friendly staff, professional and polite. Definitely a real hidden gem, highly recommend!

Vegetarians Beware!. There is an extensive choice for vegetarians in the Jewel on the Park menu. That is what attracted us to the restaurant, apart from it being a local we had not yet tried. However, if you are not keen on salt, stay away!! There is so much salt in the vegetarian dishes that I felt like I had just had a salty water gargle for a bad sore throat. We were accompanied by one meat eater and so we ordered a single lamb dish. This was apparently fine. Is it the age old problem that non-vegos think that vegetables are bland and therefore the flavour needs to be highlighted with salt??? Vegetables DO have flavour and vegetarians are used to the apparently more subtle flavours. Anyway aren't there a suite of Indian spices to achieve flavour without the need for salt? I do not appreciate paying a lot of money to be given a coronary!

Love love love the food! But frustrates me when they don't give you clean cutlery after entree!

Great Curry!. I have been addicted to Jewel of the Park for many years and with good reason. Jewel of the Park is the ideal authentic value for money Indian restaurant! It's not fancy but why should curry be fancy. Provides diners with hearty, tasty curry with great naan bread and amazing service.

These are the reasons I keep coming back:

1. The Curry is beautifully spiced and not overly oily
(health conscious eater!)
2. Its value for money!
3. Personal customer service
(very friendly Indian owners)
4. The Naan, oh the Naan
(best in Perth - seriously I have tried so many Indian restaurants)

For a wintery night or lazy Friday take away, a casual dinner or a celebration you can't go past Jewel of the Park

Tips :
Order the Palak Aloo to share in addition to the obligatory Chicken Tikka Masala or Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma etc. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious. Never fails to deliver fantastic dishes. Plenty of vegie choices and if you are a meat eater the goat curry and butter chicken are fantastic. The butter chicken is the best in Perth with excellent spices and taste of the Tandoor.

Regular Customer. In the maelstrom that is the Perth Culinary scene; that is, horrid service, mediocre food and menus that look like they've been cut and pasted from a Heathrow Airport pub, the Jewel of the Park is a distinctive and attractive blessing in quiet disguise. It's food is exceptional quality and portion size is often to be shared rather than considering a portion to be meager. I write this as an American who has dined in some of the greatest places in the world (Paris and Dubai) and some of the worst places (Baghdad and Sana'a Yemen for starters). This restaurant will always bring fond memories to me, much like Cafe Lu Roc in Paris near the Louvre.

The restaurant itself is clean, the kitchen does not exude interesting odors as I've noticed is a trend in Perth and the entire dining area is spacious yet laid out so that each table can be monitored. Serving size is ample; and they are amicable to presenting half orders or serving the meal in a take away container if you are truly aware you won't finish the main course. In short, the owners understand accommodating the customer, a rare find in Perth.

The delicate balance of spices by the chef (and I state chef, not cook for a reason) means that each dish ordered is unique in flavor without sacrificing quality for spice or heat. The meats are a better quality cut; I've yet to find a piece of lamb, goat or beef that is the lower quality cut with fat or gristle as is used by most cafes around Perth when making dishes with a sauce base. I am by no means a vegetarian but the daal is spectacular as well. The lentils are cooked to the appropriate tenderness without becoming mush and the sauce does not overwhelm the peppery flavors within the lentils. The only item lacking from the menu is a desert but then again, after the portion size, you really don't have room for desert.

The service is better than 90% of the restaurants here in Perth; but as with any restaurant in Perth the service is the toughest component of pleasing the customer. The owners are acutely aware of this and are constantly striving to improve the level of service.

At the end of the day you can pay a lot more for a lower quality meal somewhere in Subiaco or Northbridge, still pay for parking and get a free king-punch from some liquored up hoon as the coup de grace. Spending an evening at the Jewel of the Park is relaxing, there is plenty of free parking and the ambience is very family oriented. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are a fan of very traditional Indian cuisine and especially if you are tired of paying Perth's black-market prices for lackluster meals served by surly waitstaff who'd rather be anywhere except waiting on your table.
