Review Kedai Kita - Victoria Park

Mr. Hua
I came across this little gem in the busy Victoria Park cafe strip on Groupon and decided to purchase a 4-person dining experience at a super reasonable $39. Booking is essential when redeeming with Groupon vouncher. Kedai Kita means Our Shop in Malay. This restaurant has quite a spacious setting with comfortable waiting area but the lighting is a little dim. We had: Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng ( coconut milk rice with spiced fried chicken)- rice cooked perfectly accompanied with crunchy anchovies, freshness from raw cucumber, good ol' hard boiled egg and the-must-have sweet & spicy chilli condiment. However the chillin condiment is way too spicy. Mee Mamak Goreng ( traditional Malay Hawker stir fried noodles)- I cannot fault this dish. It was very delicious and packed with flavour. Combination of sweetness from the stir fry noodle and a touch of the lemon squeeze definitely complete this beloved traditional Malaysian hawker noodles. Nasi Goreng with Ayam Goreng Berempah ( Fried rice with Spiced fried Chicken)- Well-seasoned chicken deep fried to perfection. Moist and Succulent chicken thigh and breast really goes well with the flavoursome fried rice. Salad on the side was pretty ordinary but the prawn crackers definitely a right choice of side to go with in this dish. Mee Curry (Mamak style curry noodle)- Strong curry taste is the signature flavour of this popular dish in Malaysia, but it was slightly overpowering the other flavours in this dish. Generous amount of chicken pieces and fish cakes was also a plus. I still prefer the curry noodles ( or laksa) with a dash of coconut milk. I particularly enjoyed the rare freshly squeeze carrot juice with milk as it reminds me of the hawker stall in Malaysia. Great flavour and healthy drinks to wash down the meals. Overall, I enjoyed eating out at Kedai Kita very much, I will surely recommend to everyone to have a go with this newly open resto.

Located directly opposite the Broken Hill Hotel in Vic Park, it serves traditional Malay hawker style food with the occasional Thai and Indo dish. Food is halal and generally authentic though very mild but flavoursome. Prices are reasonable. Worth a visit.

Had a very delicious dinner last night. Mee curry and chicken tom yum. The portions were so big. Each dish will be enough for 2 people. Taste is top notch. A very great place to have authentic Malaysian food.

We had the Nasi Goreng Ayam Goreng, fried kway teow, mee Goreng and satay chicken and it was very tasty. The teh tarik was not overly sweet and the service was friendly. The servings were massive, I could hardly finish half of my nasi Goreng. Definetly worth a visit.

Probably the most reasonable prices in Victoria Park - most main meals are $10. Also, I've only been for dinner, but there is a $16 all you can eat and drink lunch special! Bargain!

The price is not competitive. The taste was average. The portion was relatively small. The place itself is not very welcoming. There's no friendly, smiley Malaysian waiters. There are definitely better malaysian restaurants/cafes in Vic park and for this reason I don't think we will come back.

Great little place. Enjoyed my food there! Definitely will come back.

Very tasty Malaysian food. The portions are very decent. The service is also quite good and we didn't have to wait for our food long at all. It doesn't open all day, it closes at 3pm and reopens at 6pm I believe.

I had a $10 lunch meal (Mee Goreng Mamak) and it was great! very good value. Food cooked fresh so it was easy to customise the meal. I will definitely be back.

Rather disappointing. It was too pricey for the quality of the food. The Kuey Tiow and Mee Hoon was quite bland. But the Ayam berempah wasn’t too bad. $16 for Nasi Lemak wasn’t worth it. The ambiance was gloomy and as first time customers, it would be good if the waitstaff could ask their customers about their dining experience and get some feedback.

Thought of giving this place a go as we have passed it multiple times however it was disappointing due to the price vs the quality . The menu was rather simple without much choice and the nasi lemak sambal tasted like “Life” chilli sauce (those from Malaysia would know this)... , the mee hoon goreng was bland . would never go dine here again considering the choices you would have further down the road with better taste, higher quality, more choice on the menu and of course cheaper.

Stopped in for a quick lunch midweek. Service was friendly but a little slow considering the restaurant was pretty empty. Fried squid came out quickly, quite tasty. Beef and chicken satay sticks were worth waiting for - delicious peanut sauce and plenty of it! Slightly over priced for the amount, but my tummy is full.

Food was disappointing, not only the portion was very small but the taste was very average. I ordered Beef Rendang and there were only 4 small pieces of beef in the serve. We also ordered Mee goreng and there was only 2 squid rings, 2 prawns and 2-3 pieces of chicken only. Won’t go back again.

Bad food, bad service. The nasi lemak lacked flavour in their coconut rice, sambal was a lazy effort and their beef rendang was a watery messy stew. To top it off they didn’t order one of our dishes and it was forgotten. So after waiting a while for nothing, the kitchen advised the order wasn’t received. No apologies in regards to the forgotten order. That was that. Won’t ever be coming back again. Disappointing meal...
Such a shame - we had the nasi lemak which was quite nice but the service was very bad. We were trying to ring to pre-order and no one picked up the phone. When we got there we asked why they hadn't answered and got confused looks. Second time ordered via Uber Eats and one whole dish was left out and not delivered. We tried ringing about 6 times and it rung out. When they eventually did pick up we complained and no one seemed to know what was gong on.

Went in last night to give it a try, we ordered Mee Mamak and a Mee Siam. I'm a Mee Goreng connoisseur and would rate this an easy 8/10 based on price, size and flavour (wok hei was on the moeny), right on par with all my favourite spots in Perth. The Mee Siam could have done with a bit more taste and sourness. Overall great value and I'll be back to try the Tiga Rasa fish as I've not had it in Perth before (tried it in Kelantan years ago and was blown away). Friendly service and a good addition to Vic Park's perhaps overpopulation of Malaysian restaurants with the only let down being the decor, I think they ought to do some wood floors and paint the joint black and white (yeah, my interior decorating tips come free, you're welcome...sama sama).

The kway teow goreng is phenomenal!! The longan ice has always been my favorite too. A really nice environment to chill out with the fam. Already a regular here!

Must try: Burger Kampung with fries! Superb! Big portion, juicy patty and nice flavour of bbq source. New menu. Lov the new environment. Love the discount!

We came in here on a Wednesday evening to try it out since we live very close to the Vic park strip.

The restaurant is nice and staff were pleasant however the food was kind of average. The food felt like it was more towards a food court then an actual restaurant.

We ordered the mee mamek, ox tail soup, chicken satay and nasi rendang. They need to raise the bar on their food because the decor is really nice however the food doesn't match it.

Had the weekend special which was the chiken rolled stuffed with cheese served with buttered rice and perfectly cooked veggies and cream sauce. The prices are amazing especially for Victoria Park .... hawker prices but quality food and service. Definitely will tell all my friends about here. My family tried the mee goreng - asked for spicy and the satay and roti with beef rendang. Meat was so tender.... the best. Well done guys keep up the great work.

Walked in pretty late on a week night and they're not as busy. As we were in a bit of a rush, it was a little late and we were quite hungry we decided to order the individual dishes to make things quicker. The service was really good, they were friendly and we got served pretty quickly. We had the mamak mee goreng and mee siam as well as teh tarik. The mee Siam was a little bland whereas the mamak mee goreng was nice but a little too wet for my liking. Both the portion was good size and their teh tarik was nicely done, too bad the food was quite average.

Was the first ones there as dinner service just started. The nasi lemak was quite average but the fried chicken that comes with it was good. I didn’t like the Sambal tho. The roti was too plain but I liked the beef rendang, the beef was soft and well cooked. Was my first time eating the mee goreng mamak so I’m not sure if it’s supposed to taste that way, but I didn’t like it (its mildly spicy but with a peanut butter aftertaste). The dessert was lovely and sweet since it’s made of sago and palm sugar topped with coconut cream.

Overall, food was decent. Nasi goreng kampung was delicious!! However, Nasi Lemak was just average - small portion of rice and sambal was too sweet.

Checked this place out last night. Me and my girlfriend ordered satay, roti with the beef rendang which was sooo good - meat was so tender packed with lots of flavour. Everything was really good especially the prices. Service was fantastic too. Def will be back for more

We walked in at 6 and the place was empty but by the time we left, the restaurant was buzzing with diners. Service is fantastic even though there were only 2 waitresses. One of them deserves a medal, she was a dynamo! The food is delicious and we didn't have to wait long for our orders to arrive. We had tahu bakar, gadogado, mee goreng mamak, nasi goreng kampong, roti canai and of course, satay. All good and tasty. My only complaint would be the drinks. The kopi and teh tarek were a bit watered down - love the big mugs though - and there were only 4 longans in the 'iced longan'. Half the glass was fill with ice and it cost $7.90, making it $2 per longan!!

I had the nasi goreng with the black pepper beef. The rice was okay. Could be more flavourful and spicy. The black pepper beef was probably the best part. My friend ordered the roti canai, which was also okay; not the best. It came with beef rendang and it tasted very authentic, but didn't come with dhaal or fish curry dip which is a bit of a let down.

The teh tarik we ordered was HUGE and is probably the best I've tasted in Perth. My boyfriend ordered char kuey teow, and it was average at best;didn't really have the wok taste. I would come back to savour some of the other items on the menu, but not really in a rush as I feel like the menu is still quite small and the foods tasted just average. For now the teh tarik is the only thing I'd be keen to come back for.
