Review Sushi Point - Victoria Point

adam sandler
I always come here before work to get dinner. It’s a very clean store with a large selection of delicious foods. The udon bowls are very filling and affordable. I have no complaints about this place, the service is great and meals are great and facilities are well looked after. By far my favourite sushi location in victoria point.
Omuda
Legitimately one of the worst places, I've eaten at in terms of sushi. the rice the foundation of all sushi and rice bowls was overcooked mushy and disgusting. no music just awkward staff that look at you while you eat. slow service, prices aren't worth the money. if you can avoid this place it's really really really! not worth your fuel, time and money

This place was disgusting. The food was old and some of the sushi was falling apart. The sushi was either dry or sloppy, and the ebi fry (the only thing we had) was very questionable. We genuinely didn’t know if it was a prawn or a piece of chicken. The counter top was sticky, the menus were dirty and beaten up and the customer service was non existent

Food looked like it had been there all day, 2 waitresses didn’t have a care for customers, had to ask for a drink… same waitress came up later and asked if I wanted a drink…. I said yeah the juice, asked for it 5minutes ago, she completely forgot. Ate a plate and a half and left. Cold old and the order was soggy. Yeah won’t be back, quite cold atmosphere, gross “sushi” lazy staff. Wish I’d read the reviews before going there.

Posting on behalf of my sister who has gotten food poisoning on two separate occasions from this place, they refuse to make any food fresh if it was on the train, and it is likely left on the train far longer than it should be. Air conditioner wasn’t working when I was in on Friday which likely didn’t help as well. This used to be a good restaurant about 5 years ago but do not recommend going here at all now.

If you order the sushi fresh it is pretty good however the sushi going around on the train can be old and of deteriorated quality. Staff are nice but some are often on their phones behind the counter which can cause them to lack attention to the customers needs. The store also never answers their telephone. I have never heard of a restaurant not answering their telephone. Management in this restaurant is non existent which is why issues exist in this store as they never get addressed. There is no discipline or accountability. With a prime location and potentially fresh, good quality sushi there is absolute room for improvement.

With out a doubt the worst Sushi Bar I have ever visited. We went on a Friday evening, approx. 6:30pm and there was very little food available. We had to order everything, wait, be told they were out of some items and what we did get was slapped together. I ordered a chicken vegetable curry bowl. The cook came out twice to ask questions. When it did arrive it had been microwaved to heat. Bowl was super hot, chicken VERY dry , curry gluggy and rice just appalling. It was disappointing how bad it was. Stay far away from this place.

I used to go here because it was the closest place to get sushi, food was always okay. however I just saw a customer get yelled at by the owner after almost choking on a chicken bone found in the food. They were being accused of planting the bone and then got kicked out. This was completely out of order as I have also found bones in the food. Glad I didn't say anything! otherwise I would have also been yelled at. Seems like they cant take any criticism and don't want to improve for the benefit of customer satisfaction, so I guess they just don't want any business at all! No wonder the place is rarely busy.

I have always loved the freshness of the sushi only 2 criticisms - they close the kitchen too early and the front of house staff need better training. I Have Eaten Here and not been asked for a drinks order nor if we wanted to order off the menu. With better staff training this would be a wonderful experience

Best sushi! Especially now the tuna is gluten free and there are other gluten free options! Big thanks to Sam at the Vic point restaurant for organising a gluten free teriyaki rice bowl for me tonight! Yum!

Tonight every order was incorrect or given to the people beside us. 3 items I tried ordering was unavailable. All sushi was usually small and not well constructed. Staff were friendly. Will not be returning to this store

Cleveland sushi point. You should pay attention to your customer feedback. They/we are all saying the same thing. Terrible wait time. Seriously, again, 45 minutes for a plate of avocado sushi. By the time it arrived, kids past hungry. Won't be back.

Been super disappointed with the service at Cleveland for a while now. Every time I go, I feel it gets worse... After sitting there for 20 minutes with the menu in my hand, while waitresses made eye contact or walked past quickly, but didn't ask if I would like to order is quite poor. And it's not until we're about to leave that we then get offered drinks... I didn't even get to eat - We just got up and left. You guys are still my favourite sushi place to go, but if you can't pick up your game, you're going to lose customers.

I would've had more enjoyment out of eating a tin of my cats food for dinner. God awful

Food was great and so was the service. The gentleman went out of his way to find out whether the dish was gluten free. They also had an extensive range of gf sources. We will definitely be back :)

Arrived at vic pt store tonight (7:15pm) to be told they have enough customers tonight and are closed. Hope they come back every week because I won't be. Up until now my family and I have been regular loyal customers for years. Very disappointed!!!
Sue Pham
Quite overpriced. Did not taste fresh and they charge you for sauce.

Sushi Point Cleveland need to visit their sister store at Victoria Point and get some advice!!!!! Cleveland branch is poor poor poor - the belt runs at a snails pace, which could be forgiven if the food on it was half decent!!!!! Boring boring boring choices, and this seems to be the normal at any time during the week as I've visited on different days at different times. Gave it another chance tonight and went in to get takeaways, but once again was disappointed and let down on choice. Got sick of waiting for something decent to come along and asked at 7:40pm if I could order something from the "seared" menu - only to be told the kitchen had already closed. Closed?????? But you are open until 8pm and all you have on the belt is tofu or tuna rolls??????? Ok, well I'm done with this particular branch of Sushi Point, I'd rather drive the 20min to the Victoria Point restaurant which never disappoints.

I don’t like writing reviews like this, but Sushi Point Victoria Point is a far cry from what it used to be. When it first opened it was like a breath of fresh air to the Redlands: serving fresh plates of sushi and with impeccable service - it was great. However, when I visited with a dining companion last night, the restaurant seemed to have a dull atmosphere and the sushi seemed to be almost tired in a sense. It didn’t look very appetising, the fried plates were very greasy and the same plates seemed to continually circle the train.

I ordered the tempura prawn udon, it was ok. The prawns were a bit small but I enjoyed eating the dish. I also had a plate of the egg salad ship, it was ok but could have been better.

My dining companion ordered the tempura prawn bento. He remarked that the rice tasted funny, maybe because it was served in a wooden box.

I didn’t have an overly bad experience but I don’t think I would return. I would instead recommend visiting a sushi train like Sushi Edo, where plates are continually being made and can be ordered fresh.

Went to order take away took name and number then said thanks bye and hung up. Forgetting one minor detail my actual order.

My wife was the one picking up the same person served her as took my order. Told her they were closed when she walked in. ( that’s translated to there were no free seats they were open for another 2 hours ). Said had no idea on the order but there was one here for someone but didn’t know who it was. ( the one and only take away).

Order their food time to time. It’s nice enough. Just always seem to have trouble in making an order. Their English employees too by the way. I have much better success with local noodle place where English is a second language.

Serious food handling concerns! I watched the employee making my sushi use the same gloves to touch the raw salmon, then touch the flame torch, then touch the cooked salmon, then touch the machine to get the rice, then touch the rice, then touch the rice machine again, then touch the raw beef, then touch the flame torch, then touch the cooked beef. All with the same gloves which I don’t even know if she changed prior to making my food. And also touch a dirty cloth prior to putting my food in the containers all with these same gloves. Don’t even get me started on the disgusting dirty metal grate she cooked it on that was covered in who knows what, which wasn’t even cleaned before being used. Either this employee doesn’t care about how sick they could make someone from cross contamination or she wasn’t trained correctly in food handling! Will never return!

This was convenient to the cinemas. We were looking for a fast meal. The kids ate from the conveyor and there was a good variety. We ordered from the menu wagyu beef and teriyaki chicken with rice. We enjoyed both dishes and the kids loved the sushi, chicken sticks and fried chicken.

naa... not fresh, dirty place. over price. very ordinary menu. go somewhere else.
suggested sushi train in Capalaba. Much more choices in the menu, better seating. Everything is fresh

Have been here a couple of times. It is most definitely the better of all Japanese sushi places in the Redlands.

The ambience is a little off and the staff are at times a little off putting however the food has always been top notch.

Love this place! The train is always full with a huge variety. The sushi is fantastic. Fresh, tasty and there is something for everyone, no matter what your tastes. The staff are very friendly and efficient. By far one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. I've become a regular and have taken heaps of people there that have all been impressed.

Awesome vegetarian options. Went here for dinner last night prior to movies, basically had all vegetarian sushi because they seemed to have more variety than the others, tempura prawn, chicken and avocado didn't come around as often as I would have thought hence why I got those. Service was average - went in around 5.20pm and there where maybe 8 other people there. Was told to sit where we want so sat towards the right hand side so that my sister and I could get the fresher sushi when it came out. Took a while after we where seated to get service for drinks, when we did it was pretty good however I noticed that the apple and black currant juice I was served had a use by date of April this year?!?!?! I was going to say something but my sister doesn't like when I make a scene or even mention anything with her because she thinks I'm being dramatic so unfortunately I didn't say anything but hope that the sushi management read this and appropriately sort out there drinks - no one wants to be served out of date juice even if it still tasted okay :( Cost $50 for 2 people which is average but over priced when you consider that other sushi trains in the capalaba and victoria point have more variety and 2 people can eat there for under $50. Overall would eat here again but wish they would have more variety - and some of their plates are significantly over priced - bring them down to the next plate tier and more people will eat there!

Not fresh. Sushi isn't fresh, never had tempura served without tempura sauce, overpriced for what it is. Ambiance is not great.
Mel
I liked it. Good range. Clean. Attentive staff. Will come back.

Sushi - More like Poo-shi!. The waiters are really nice and the place looks like a sushi train. Though the food is really over priced for the quality of the food and by quality I mean there is no quality. It's actually the worst sushi I have had in my whole life. Wouldn't go back there again.

The best shusi in the redlands. Hands down sushi point is the best shushi in the entire redlands i used to live in Cleveland and would make the 30 min bus ride down to Victoria point just to eat there often spending twice the amount i would spend at other sushi places
the servers are just wonderful talkative and polite the sushi is fresh and delicious the kupie mayo is in quantities i have never encountered before my best friend and i consider it to be "our" restaurant the portions of sushi are large too by that i mean the rolls they make a large the same salmon rainbow roll i get else where is easily half the size of sushi point salmon rainbow rolls
the prices are very good too and the variety you get there is staggering i can not heap enough praise on this restaurant i have taken (sometimes by force) at least a dozen friends and family to sushi point and every time i have walked away with smiling and with a content belly
they have a card reward system for frequent eaters i would suggest you all get one the $5 free you get when you've got 20 stamps is an elation it feels like winning an award
please please all of you must go eat there
how ever as it is close to the cinema and due to its popularity and delicious food the restaurant sometimes has up to a 45 min wait for take away but that only on nights when a new movie comes out or on particularly busy school holidays on your average week day you can easily sit down for a meal
it truly is the best in the redlands if not the whole south east corner of Queensland if not Queensland itself
