A really enjoyable date night. Started off with a couple of maple old fashions (which weren’t on the menu but they knocked them up anyway) - and they were perfect. Then the duck parfait with bacon jam (I know!!!!), the fish with witloff was fresh and smokey, the pork belly juicy and the skin crisp, and then the lamb was just melt in the mouth delicious. I’ve had the Miso Lamb at Gardels many times, and this lamb was up there with that. Just a great night.
Wonderful staff , amazing food , perfect for families and couples thank you for a great Mothers Day dinner 👏🏼

Quite possibly the best place I have eaten. The most beautiful staff, so friendly and the food was so amazing!!
Excellent friendly service and extensive menu and wine list.
Exceptional experience, great menu and the staff love looking after you.
Amazing food, exceptional cocktails and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You don't need to go into the city to experience impressive food made with love and attention to every detail. Highly recommend the baked feta, melt-in-your-mouth octopus, and lamb cutlets that were seasoned and grilled to perfection with that divine gremolata. The sides were also delicious! Cocktails - The Butchers Mistress was a hit with everyone in our party. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
The Not Corned Beef was amazing!!! Quite possibly the best meal i have ever eaten. Great friendly service. We will definitely be back.
Sit down in the Butcher's Apprentice and you could be anywhere in the world! The food looks and tastes great and is served with a smile. The Smashed Macaroon dessert is pretty on the plate and a party in your mouth and the chocolate panna cotta serves two - but you won't want to share it. I will definitely be back!
Outstanding menu. Creative and generous dishes.
Finally a great place on the upper north. If your in the area and want amazing food, delightful wine and sensational service check this out.
Amazing food fantastic cocktails a great place to spend Saturday night with great friends
New owners, great food still, creative, lovely fun staff, keep coming!! We need eateries like this in the burbs. Butcher's remains a Wahroonga institution.
Great meal served by attentive and knowledgable staff! So good to see such enthusiasm in the industry! Looking forward to visiting again! New owners have taken the bull by the horns! Menu much more approachable with so much room for future endeavours! Thank you for the experience and congratulations. A job well done!
Omg go ASAP! The food is amazing and the menu is unique and special. The customer service is fast and engaging and I highly recommend everything there. Get all the desserts and get the candied bacon!
C and I recently visited The Butcher's Apprentice in Wahroonga and were blown away by the delicious and interesting food on offer, casual but modern setting and top notch service. The Pork Cheek was my favourite dish - tender, good depth of flavour and had nice sweet elements (such as the orange blossom floss) to cut through the savoury flavours. This would be perfect on a cold winter night!

Sometimes a meal just blows you away, and that’s exactly what happened at our shared dinner at the Butcher’s Apprentice. I started with the Butcher’s Mistress cocktail – gin, lychee, basil, citrus – it was well-balanced and very refreshing. We were offered the ‘dry chips’ as a snack while deciding on the rest of the menu (very classy upselling!) and enjoyed every bite of the crisp potato, sweet potato and taro, salted delightfully with paprika. Next was the ‘crackle and pop’ – pork and chicken crackling with popcorn and more paprika. The skins were served cold and crispy, in perfect bite-sized pieces. The chacuterie plate had a very generous serve of cured meat, with a creative tomato jam and slightly charred, oiled bread. Next came the main – pork cheek served with rainbow chard, pickle, watermelon rind and a mound of orange blossom floss. The sweetness of the floss went so perfectly with the melt-in-your-mouth pork cheek! The star dish had to be the ‘chocolate’ dessert – a chocolate panna cotta lined the base of the bowl, topped with dark chocolate pearls, white chocolate flakes, chocolate floss and marmalade. Heaven! The Butcher’s Apprentice offers just the right pitch of fine dining with friendly, welcoming staff and truly exciting, creative food.
Sensationalise your night in an intimate setting to embrace their philosophy of communal dining but be aware of its rather pricey menu. Paired with The Butcher’s Block right next door, their superior reputation ensures good quality food and service to be carried over for your dining experience.
The first dish we tried was the Tea Smoked Salmon Belly ($39), an absolute masterpiece. Guys, get down to Wahroonga and order this bad boy now. The salmon was served with a blushed pink meringue, roasted beetroots, slivers of radish, edible flowers and a sweet dried slice of orange.
The salmon was just insane and smoked to absolute perfection–it was so juicy and I loved the delicate tea taste. The soft meringue was flavoured with hints of lime, beetroot and a subtle sweetness, and the orange slice was wonderfully brittle. When you filled your fork up with the flakey salmon, meringue, orange shards and beetroot, that’s when the magic happened. Each ingredient alone is delicious but together, they’re absolutely, finger-licking, scrape the plate clean, give me more please, delicious. This was my favourite dish of the night (can you tell?).
