Okay, so it is a little tired looking but it offered us a quiet dinner with some friendliness. Yes, The decor hasn't changed in the last 20 years though we found parking easy and Simon our waiter very courteous and helpful. The meals are the regular range with a few obscure and tempting plates sitting amongst them. My wife had a Satay Chicken (more like a Curry satay), which she enjoyed. She said the Prawn bread was the best she had eaten, ever. Myself, I had a Beef with Spicy Chinese sauce, a bit like the managers special I guess, which I enjoyed with some fluffy boiled rice. Wanting a quiet meal, uncrowded and unrushed during the week? This could be the place for you.

Kingsland is now House of Peking, which used to be at the Jesmond Hotel. (since 25 Mar 2017). One of the best Chinese restaurants in Newcastle. Very authentic, some very spicy dishes if you like the heat, and great yum cha.

after living in wallsend for 10 years, I finally found Kingsland, It was surprisingly great food, I had takeaway, for my family of 7, it was one of the best chinese meals ever, certainly top 3....Honey Chicken was perfect, combo omelette perfect, and all the dishes of exceptional quality... while waiting I found the decor fitting for the style of restaurant, and was clean and well presented.....some may call it dated, i call it perfect... id recommend it, 5 large take away dishes, 2 lrg fried rice, was $90 included big bag of prawn chips!

The decoration may seem to be antiquated however it's key to the restaurants throwback to the 80s Chinese dining experience. The food is great and the service is friendly.
