Went here with a friend for brunch. I got the burrito bowl with pulled pork and my friend got the hearty big breakfast.
The burrito bowl was delicious. I loved it. Had a lot o flavours & ingredients that all mixed well together. At first I wasn’t too sure if rice was a good choice to have for breakfast but it definitely was. I feel though if you didn’t have the pulled pork apart of it, it might have been a bit bland.
We were seated outside on a lovely sunny day with a wonderful view!
Two of us had the beef burger and chips, which they really enjoyed. I had poached eggs with their tasty gluten-free bread, hollandaise and mushrooms. It was one of the best poached egg breakfasts I have had! Lovely!
Overall, it was a wonderful brunch. Thank you!
Stonehouse is a very comfy place to visit. Their meals are consistent and the waiting staff are always on the move. Ambience is fantastic.
As customers, we all want a 5 star experience, but remember, this is a cafe where you, as a customer are able to chill out and enjoy life for an hour or two. Bad reviews are not necessary. Constructive reviews are the ones that rectify a business's lack of knowledge.
Perfect place for morning tea and a cold winter's day!
ATMOSPHERE:
We we're very luckily seated in front of the fire place which was fantastic due to the cold weather. I loved the heritage feel of this cafe, made me feel extra cosy!
FOOD:
Visited Stonehouse Cafe with my mum for their Tuesday special - High tea.
The high tea included:
- Soup of the day
- Spanakopita
- Reuben Sliders
- Omelette
- Scones w Jam and Cream
- Massive Macroons
- Mango Cheesecake
REVIEW (5/5): 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was so pleasantly surprised with this cafe and their high tea it makes me smile writing this. The venue was amazing and the high tea was up their with the best I've had and that's a lot. I must add that their portion size was very generous. If you're looking for a perfect morning with your mum, grandma or friends then this is the place to be. Absolutely cannot wait to return! 😍
A lovely walk along the river from the main shopping strip to Stonehouse Cafe. We were welcomed and seated quickly by a friendly waistress for lunch. Clean, rustic, cosy and open woodfire for a cold winters day (and outdoor balcony seating overlooking the gumtrees and river for warmer weather). Being a cold winters day I ordered the soup which was delicious and a generous portion along with buttery crusty bread, yum. My mum ordered the japanese pancake dish and dad ordered the beef burger and both enjoyed their meals. I have dined here several times and I have had consistently friendly staff and top quality meals. Coffee was great (we ended up buying some coffee beans) and I enjoyed the chai latte however it could be a bit spicier. A Warrandyte gem...highly recommend.
Surrounded by trees amongst the native Warrandyte bush, Stonehouse Cafe is a great place to unwind and relax with the tastiest scones paired with coffee and tea.
This place has been going many years. Changed hands again recently. It is wonderful. Real cream with the scores now. Funky juices, good gluten free cakes. Friendly staff and warm cosy atmosphere. The decore has been updated to, looks really great. Well worth a visit. We love it.
What a lovely find. Situated at a quiet end of the shops, this cafe ticked all the boxes. Outdoor and indoor seating. Great coffee, delicious cakes and very friendly service. A lovely ambience created by the stonewall and artwork. Very glad we found this place.
Great Beef Burgers , wouldn’t mind that drive. My husband had it and couldn’t stop praising it, although it’s like a 30min drive from our place , I had to try it myself . Outdoor seating with birds chirping, made our experience memorable. Looking forward to having that beef burger again .
Great at accommodating large groups, without feeling like you are taking over the place. nice food and easy going staff. One of the better places to go in Warrandyte. Thanks guys
With a homie atmosphere, warm and cosy vibe and lovely staff - this place is lovely. The view from outside is awesome with trees and forest everywhere and the staff were lovely and accommodating. We all god eggs with toast and other bits and pieces, and overall was happy with everything, a good hearty breakfast.
Was hoping to try their burger but woke up to early and cafes around here aren't like those in Melbourne where the whole menu is available.
So I tried their salmon and eggs. Missus tried their mushrooms and eggs. Ingredients were really fresh. Breakfast was nothing super fancy. Only downside is the mushrooms didn't have enough flavour or seasoning.
Staff were nice and helpful. Food came down reasonably quick.
Sadly coffee wasn't that great. But worth a visit.
I love the atmosphere of stonehouse, I like sitting outside in summer and by the fire in winter. There's always plenty of parking which is rare for Warrandyte, and the staff are always very friendly, but the menu is a bit boring, I wish they would jazz it up. My friends always insist on going there and the food is fine, it's just not anything exciting or new.
'Miserable' morning some might say, but the drizzle looks so pretty on the trees around Stonehouse Cafe Restaurant, my spirits were lifted at the sight. We could smell the wood fire burning from outside.
This is a large space, which looked welcoming in spite of only two tables being occupied early in the morning (the place was humming by the time we left). My dining companion had her eyes fixed on the table practically on top of the open fire, so that's where we were seated.
The selection for breakfast is quite inviting, particularly if you like eggs - which we do. Less of the more new stylee breaky options which bothers me naught, but may disappoint others. We decided on our selection pretty quickly, but in spite of our menu being put away, and only two other tables, it did take a while for our waitress to notice. I did have to ask for water at the table, and I consider a jug of water a given. After that though, service and food were great.
Both our hot drinks and food came really quickly, but for all that, plenty of care was taken. The crema on top of my chaii latte and my companion's cappuccino with a vanilla twist was super-deliciously-thick, my honey wouldn't even make the dive without an assisted stir. In actuality the honey wasn't really needed for my taste, but the pleasure of adding honey over-road my common sense, yet I still enjoyed my sweet chaii! Miss thought her vanilla coffee was a fun change from her usual Saturday mocha.
Both of us went 'Benedict', I chose the bacon route, and Miss beside me (to be as close to fire as possible) went the salmon option. We shared a side of spinach. Initially I was uninspired by the appearance of the spinach, it looked wilted but completely unadorned, no shine. The eating of the spinach though, changed my mind, we both very much enjoyed it. As is the trend, our two slices of Vienna 'toast' (barely toasted, I'd prefer a bit of golden) were stacked on top of each other. While it looks fancy, once the lower slice is pulled out, it's left looking pretty dull. I chose to request butter for that one, which made all the difference with the spinach I feel. Poached eggs were absolutely done as you'd hope, the bacon was really, really bacony and good, and I am told the generous amount of salmon was also lovely. Winning.
The food here is pretty standard; tasty and of good quality. However, not mind-blowing. The coffee is nothing that special. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, and the view is serene as the place is situated out in the green. It definitely suffices for a good stopping point for roadtrippers or those stopping by after a nice stroll in the area.
Came here for a relaxing & casual lunch on a Friday and loved it! Relaxed atmosphere & nice to sit outside amongst the nature. Great quiet spot in Warrandyte!
Lunch was Chicken Schnitzel Focaccia & Black Sesame Camembert Roast Chicken Salad. Both refreshing, filling and hit the spot! Yum!
Had a great breakfast with the family here on the weekend.
The Stonehouse Cafe is such an iconic and popular spot up in Warrandyte, over-looking the bush. We managed to get a seat out on the balcony to see the cockatoo's, which was wonderful.
The staff are very friendly, and the meals were excellent; freshly prepared, and really good sized portions... you won'g to hungry. My wife had the pancakes which she could not finish; 3 really good sized pancakes, plus lashings of maple syrup and a mountain of fresh berries. I opted for the Eggs Florentine with some extra hash-browns. The Eggs Florentine was great, really good sized portion, and yummy fresh vienna toast. The hash-browns were a slight let down, being generic store bought ones, but were cooked well. Our daughter had a ham and cheese toastie which was bigger than her, made with fresh vienna bread and thick cut ham and cheese!
The milkshakes we had were good, without being spectacular, while the coffee was probably slightly on the weaker side. There was a bit of a wait for the food, due to the place being popular and busy when we visited, but the staff were friendly and the setting amazing, that it didn't really matter.
Well worth a visit if you're in the area, be sure to sit on the balcony and just relax, letting the world go by.
Lovely, open, place with fantastic balcony views over the bush towards the Yarra.
The food was nice, the service fine, and coffee's very good indeed.
Well worth popping in to give it a try.
Lovely cafe amongst the trees. We had a lovely lunch there. Chai was good and relatively prompt. Meals took a bit longer than usual, but it was a sunny afternoon! Food looked appealing, but was a little lacking in seasoning and sadly no cracked pepper on the table. Service was friendly, but was awkward coming in as it says "wait to be seated", but it's not clear where and it was confusing as to who was staff. Great selection of cakes and good options for various food preferences.
A lovely cafe out in picturesque Warrandyte, overlooking the beautiful Australian bush land. The detailed menu has a big range of breakfast, lunch and snack options. After walking along the Yarra River, we indulged in some creamy lattes and freshly baked, warm scones with jam and cream, as an afternoon treat.
"Solid" good food & good food we have been quite a few times including fathers day.
Fathers day it was a bit slow for meals to arrive but we won't hold that against them maybe just take less bookings. On a normal Sunday breakfast very nice well worth have a meal good food at a reasonable price.
It's beautiful here. The outside sitting area is semi enclosed and heated witch is great to look out over the brush while you eat! The service is very good and the food is delicious! This is a great place to go with friends or family.
Fabulous service and great food. Also a great spot for the kids in the morning to see all of the birds. We frequently go to this restaurant and have never been disappointed.
Excellent coffee, beautiful food and fantastic service!. Took my boyfriend for breakfast on his birthday, the staff were so friendly and helpful, food was DELICIOUS. The coffee was lovely and the setting was so peaceful we felt like we were on holiday. Will definetly be back highly recommend this hidden treasure.
Dropped in for a quick lunch. Fire roaring and reasonably busy. We ate in the main area as you walk into the cafe. This place is a little on the noisy side. There seems to be an echo which could be fixed with some noise absorbing furnishings. The waiters were attentive and came across as hard working young adults. Food was nothing special but you get reasonable value for money. Lemon curd tart VERY tasty and came with a mountain of fresh cream. Lots of parking out the back. Worth a visit.
Great place for breakfast. I love the ambiance of this place (old building). I live nearby and when I get the extra time in the morning (which is not too often), I try to get breakfast here. The breakfast is always spot on. Quality and consistency. Well done!!
Lovely spot to bring my dog. The staff are so, so friendly. They remember us when we come and are very attentive. I always enjoy what I order. I also appreciate the fact that the kitchen is open until a little later than most places, on slow weekends. I will return again and again!
Such a relaxed, easy going space. Service is attentive but not intrusive even when seated outside. Servings were large and flavoursome. Great lazy brunch venue.
Good experience. I think you learn most about a venues customer service when they are faced with things not quite going to plan. We had an unfortunate incident this morning, which was nobodies fault, and the cafe handled the situation very well. What could have been unfavourable experience was redeemed and we had a lovely time on the back deck with quality breakfast.
We would return.
Great!. Coffee was absolutely spot on! Perfect!
The all day breakfast was just what we needed on a Sunday.
I had the french toast which was great but maybe a little bit undercooked and yolky in the middle, if that was cooked right it would have been a 10/10!
Will defnitely be coming back here.
Natural Setting. Stonehouse must be good as I have breakfast there 3 times a week after gym, the staff are always happy to custom tweak what I like. Over the holiday season its been handy as Stonehouse trades every day of the year except for 2, Set in a natural Warrandyte bush-land setting the seating choice is veranda (shared with Cockatoos) or inside. Ample off-street parking is a bonus in Warrandyte.
Coffee is excellent and menu quite comprehensive, I have never been disappointed with the food and staff are always cheerful and happy to accommodate.
Just enjoyed a great breakfast on a sunny deck in historical Warrandyte.
Best coffee and great value.
Good place for taking dogs.
Value for money. Best feature here is the value for money. Big meals at decent prices. The place has plenty of potential with it's location but unfortunately I have never seen any improvements happen to the place in the years I have stopped here. Beers are all standard swill nothing good.
