Have been coming here off and on since 2003 and it can be great or just so-so. But when it’s great it’s fabulous and that’s what keeps me coming back. Always enjoy the vegetarian San Choi Bow and the calamari in spicy salt.
Service is pretty good. Located behind the main shops and with plenty of competition nearby, Ming’s seems to hold its own. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front.
amazing food, good deep fried ice cream, went there with my mum and dad (my only friends) and they said it was amazing. the best food in Warrandyte. 5/5 mings for life
Consistently great food. Love coming here. Great prices too. Never had a bad dish. Small but warm and cozy. Service always bright and friendly
I love Ming's!!
I'm a picky eater and they don't mind leaving something out of the dish for me (egg etc)
I've never had to wait more than 25mins for my food.
$15 for a vegetarian main is a great price for the quality of this food :D
Ming's has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere I have only encountered good staff here!
I'm in love with the vegetarian singapore fried noodles (add chilli sauce) it's worth the try
Mings is a really good Italian restaurant i like the gnocchi with sweet and sour sauce. very good recomend it. carly and leon had a great time thankyou
We tried Mings tonight for the first time after reading reviews on Zomato.
First impressions are that it's a standard suburban Chinese restaurant straight out of the 90's, its appearance makes it look a bit on the cheap side with papers & magazines on a small table for those waiting for takeaway orders, lots of porcelain cats with waving arms and you walk past the open kitchen to the small (seats about 40) dining room. Hand written signs here and there...you know the look.
However, knowing not to expect anything fancy, we were ready to enjoy a relaxed ambiance and casual night out.
Let me tell you that walking past the open kitchen was great! The chefs duck under the servery to say Hi (and Goodbye) as you walk past, and the smell of everything cooking in their woks is delightful.
Seating is well spaced, though it's a bit cool nearer the windows on very cold night, though maybe not cold enough once the place is full, to necessitate putting on the second heater.
With most diners recognising each other as they entered (to dine at their own tables) I could see it's a "local haunt" for them and no wonder!
We were provided drinks fairly promptly after ordering and only about 15 minutes until the first entree arrived. Further entrees and (shared) mains continued to come at intervals of about 5 minutes which worked out very well with the pace of our eating.
I'm not bothered with no offering to cork/unscrew our BYO wine (no corkage fee either). Soft drink comes in cans and a glass provided, the service manager brought out both Lemonade & Lemon squash for my son to choose as she correctly assumed he wasn't familiar with what lemon squash was. Water wasn't offered automatically but a bottle was provided when requested (no charge of course).
Linen table cloths & linen serviettes are good to see with so many places just using paper nowadays.
Our waitress "forgot" the prawn crackers requested by my kids for entree (at my hinting) and presented a free bag of crackers at the end of the night to take home.
The dining room was only about half full throughout the evening though the takeaway had a constant stream of people, proving it's very popular with the locals.
As a couple taking their 2 kids out for dinner, this place was perfect. Great food, service was OK, and were in at 6:30 and out by 8:15. No chance of fitting in dessert this time. Maybe next time!
For entrée we shared won-tons, battered chicken ribs, sweet plum pork.
For mains we shared Mongolian Beef (we highly recommend it), sweet & sour pork & battered honey & cashews chicken (not too sweet like some).
The food was delicious with plenty of flavour and not drowning in sauce as well as very generous servings.
Overall $100 for 3 adults & one 11 year old sharing 3 entrees, 3 mains and a couple of soft drinks. Price was worth every cent for the great food, genuinely pleasant staff and casual dining.
My photos don't do the sizzling Mongolian beef justice.
We will be back!
Not usually a fan of Chinese food but this place is really nice, rich flavoursome food with something for everyone, never fails to disappoint. Is a little on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for
Ming's never disappoints. Penny is the best.. Ming's is the only Chinese Restaurant I would drive an hour to if I moved to the other side of town. I get take out all the time and dine in every so often and all staff know my order. Food is delicious, consistent and good quality, meats are not offcuts like some other places. I always brag about Ming's.
Always great. Have been coming for years.....always consistently good and we always ring early for take away to avoid delays. Staff always polite. Our favourites are the Peking beef, beef noodles, Singapore noodles, lemon chicken and chicken and cashews.
Dont judge a book by its cover. If you do you will miss some of the best Chinese food in the Eastern suburbs. Not only great food but really well priced. Try the banquets for course after course of really delicious food. Friendly people too. They also have a small wine list these days too. But you can still BYO.
My father has been coming here for years and raves about it. Finally I got a chance to form my own opinion. Lesson Number One: Hold a healthy respect for your elders, for they know what is best.
Honestly I was expecting a standard, run of the mill, suburban Chinese, but this place is special.
There is care, passion, pride and intensity in the food here.
We had a large group and shared around 8 dishes. They were all more than I expected. It was hard to pick our favourite, but the Satay Pork (not a common combnination) was probably the best of a great bunch.
Looking forward to spending more time with Dad here.
Yummy. We have been going to mings for years now and will continue because it is the best chinese food, we travel from Ringwood just to get it and have never been dissapointed. They do get very busy though so order ahead of time for take away.
Great food. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Portion sizes are big for the price. I reccomend the honey chicken, best going around! Will definatly be back!
I have been going to mings for all of my life and for the best satay beef look no further it is not ur normal peanut satay but something different and now I can't go back to normal satay. The lemon chicken and sweet roast pork in batter are fantastic as well. Great food and fantastic owners that are always happy to see you. Food tastes just as good take away
We were looking for a Chinese restaurant relatively local to Templestowe without wanting the standard fare in Doncaster. Found Ming's on Urbanspoon and gave it a go. The family loved it. The restaurant area was intimate and the service was fantastic. We ordered off the chef's specials menu and couldn't go wrong. Every dish was well cooked and had enormous flavour. A real gem of a place for a relaxed dinner. The takeaway area was also doing great business. Worth a visit for sure.
Great little Chinese restaurant, tucked away in Warrandyte. Good service, friendly staff and the food is really good. Lovely fresh produce is used. The restuarant itself is very small, with basic and clean decor. I have ordered various dishes here and they have all been to a very good standard with so much flavor. My favorite is Beef with Spring Onion and Ginger, and I absolutely love both their Short and Long Soup. The broth has the most wonderful aroma and background flavor of sesame oil, which I enjoy so much.
It really enjoyed the food! I had the flaming garlic prawns, and the were really good. They do great eat-ins and take aways!
