Review Siamese Thai Resturant - Warrnambool

A cosy and unassuming restaurant with excellent food and service!!! Prices are reasonable and lots of regulars dropped in to collect takeaway - always a sign of good and consistent quality.

Not sure how “authentic” this Thai restaurant is. I felt our meals were rather bland, which is unusual for most Thai food well, in our experience anyway. Having to share our meals with some more than friendly flies didn’t help either.

Oh my goodness! We ordered takeaway here tonight and it was seriously the best Thai we’ve had in such a long time. Everything we ordered was 10/10. So fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend Siamese Thai. Yum!

Walked in today, stood at the front of the restaurant waiting for someone to notice us and nobody did. First impressions were very bad, and you only get one chance to make a good one. The kind young gentleman at the front ended up finally helped us find a table. We noticed a couple near us still waiting for their food and we asked them how long they had been waiting for as they looked hungry and annoyed. They said they they had been waiting for quite a while. We sat down at our table and overheard wait times of 30+ minutes for food. 10 minutes passed and nobody came to take our order. We got up and left. To the owners: whether or not you are busy and have lots of orders to make, learn to respect people who are walking into your restaurant to eat, don't just ignore them or palm off the responsibility to clearly very young and inexperienced customer service staff. You get once chance to make people feel welcome, you don't get a second. Always prioritise your dine in customers over takeaway orders or don't open at all.

Very poor quality food. As most of their business is from tourists, they don't really care what they serve to one time customers. Do yourself a favour, there are other better thai options near by.

Good..fast service! Ordered fish cake, chicken curry plus beef fried mushroom and coconut rice.

The old lady Staff was rude. Not a good place for foreign customers coz she would not believe in the vaccination card you will present. Do I have to mention to her that the Australian government had done a great job in checking my background before letting me in and being double vaxed is just one of the many requirements I had to comply. Nonetheless, the food was fantastic.

Delicious Thai food! The inside was nicely decorated and casual. Food came out quickly. Lots of great vegetarian options as well! Would recommend this restaurant.

Was the best Thai in here but after change the boss, every thing changed. The dishes were not that good any more. and After 10years, the environment was still dark and old. they even never change a little.

Easily the best Thai food in town. Staff are wonderful. Lunch menu is really reasonably priced. The dish I had was well balanced and complex. Delicious!

The waiters there are very nice, space and environment is very comfortable. The food is nice but not really authentic. The soups are great. We expected a bigger portion with that price.

Wait time on a Tuesday night was less than 15mins. Small portions and priced on the higher side for a small town. Tried the green curry and steamed rice which was👌🏽👏🏿.

Amazing food! Authentic Thai food! The must try dishes are Satay Chicken and the Green Curry! Lovely staff and nice simple restaurant.
This is our go to when in town.

I walked in on a Thursday evening to order take away. The service was friendly and helpful. Waited for about 15 minuyes, which gave me enough time to flick through the newspaper. I ordered the prawn toast, Gang Deng Pet(the duck curry) and sticky rice. Meal was hot even after a short walk. It was unbelievably tasty, vegetable had bite, and duck was succulently cooked. Prawn toast was good. Only negative, if I was being picky, was the sticky rice was a tad dry. Although with the amount of gravy supplied with the curry was able to dump it in and moisten it easy enough. Overall very satisfying meal, and would definitely return.

Tasty and very traditional Thai food. Large servings of meals and very reasonable priced. Pad Thai is a must!. Staff are warm and friendly

Great food and service. Loved the Pad Kee Mao which I haven't found anywhere else. Also enjoyed the other dishes we ordered. Will certainly be back on a regular basis.
Thai food!. A nice Thai option in the area. A good price and a very large Pad Thai serving.

The food was not that good and had better at other Thai places in Warrnambool. Wouldn't recommend to friends.

If only the service matched the food. We found this restaurant on UrbanSpoon. It was the lowest reviewed of three Thai places in Warrnambool, but the other two were closed when I was in town so we gave it a try. The restaurant itself is a functional thai-takeaway place with a few tables thrown in for diners. We wanted to eat in so I made eye contact with the waiter... who then proceeded to grunt, and walk to another table to take their order. Ok.. we waited another 5 minutes for this to finish and were then asked to be seated. He walked into the dining area, pointed to a table and says "You can sit there". He hands out the menus and walks off. After about 8 minutes he came back and stood silently at our table with his menu notepad. Figuring he was waiting for an order, we proceeded to ask for the food we wanted. When finished, he responded with "drinks?", which concluded his input into our conversation.

After 15 minutes the food started arriving with roughly the same discourse as per our seating and ordering experience. The context of the review changes significantly here, as the food itself was out of this world delicious. We had fried coated prawns and roti for an entree, and masaman curry with rice for the main. All magnificent.

On the way out we commented to Mr. Grumpy "Busy night? I think the other two Thai places are closed - you must have all their customers". His response "They can have them back". I think that says it all really.

So, if you want delicious food, and maybe a bit of a laugh at the antics of the waiter/owner, by all means go here. Me - I just don't understand how a place that serves food this nice doesn't want to do a bit better. The owner could hire a couple of good friendly waiters, and then go and help in the kitchen and he'd be doing far more business. Will try the others next time I'm in town.

Yes the owner is a grumpy old prick... But...

The food is outrageously good. Coming from Melbourne I've had a crack at a couple of Thai places yet the Pad Thai I had here was easily the best.

Probably a good thing that I am not a local, I would be much fatter and poorer with food this good on my doorstep.

I am a local and love the food from here but will not return due to the rudeness of the owner/manager. We also got table next to kitchen and asked to move, there were plenty of tables, and despite explaining my friend had had a hip operation he refused with no reason. He was rude, abrupt and despite really nice food it was not a pleasant experience. On talking to other people this mans rude manner is well known around Warrnambool and for this reason people choose to dine at the friendlier options.

Great restaurant. Shame that the copied reviews from 2012 are the only ones here - they must have had a one-off bad experience.
Siamese is usually an excellent restaurant, the staff are great (though the boss can be grumpy) and food is fantastic. Takeaway has also been very good

Awful awful awful service from bloke who appeared to be owner/manager/proprietor. Upon entering the restaurant we were placed beside the kitchen door. Despite there being no reservations, when we asked to change seats we were told that the manager "didn't want to chop and change". We left. So I can't say whether or not the food was as crap as the (lack of ) service. NO stars.

We were absolutely appauled how bad the service was. We were told by the owner of the restaurant that we couldn't choose our table in completely empty restaurant and were told to seat by the kitchen door. When we politely asked to be seated by the different table the manager told us that he wouldn't "chop and change". Very unpleasant experience. Stay away.
