Great place place to go. Nice modern retro setting. Food was great. They served varieties of wonderful flavoured tea. Friendly staff. There is one largest long beautiful timber table which able to accommodate for big group of 25 adults, sadly didn't get much photos.

This Cafe is amazing and by far the best in Warrnambool if i could give them 10 stars then thats what i would be giving them. All the staff are friendly kind and really welcoming. Everyday I walk in and they give you the most welcoming feeling. And also the coffee is the best I have had in a long time. Iv tried all the cafes in Warrnambool and none of them come close to how good Cafe Lava makes there coffee!!! CAFE LAVA BEST COFFEE IN WARRNAMBOOL!!!

If you like Hot Chocolate and Brunch you'll love Cafe Lava!

The widest selection of hot chocolates I've ever seen. With 23 different flavours including raspberry, dark chocolate, caramel, tiramisu and more, you'll find the perfect one. The brunch dishes they serve are also exceptional. It's quality and freshness was unbelievable. The service was prompt and friendly.

Give them a shot! There's plenty of space for everyone!

Fantastic large open Cafe in Warrnambool that do a pretty decent big breakfast and have the BIGGEST range of hot chocolate selections I have ever seen. I thought it was fantastic. Would definitely go back again and again.

I was seriously impressed with this place. It was super friendly and open which made for a pleasant experience. There were dozens of hot chocolate flavour options (I got the caramel one) and they were all thick and delicious. Definitely gotta try one of them if you go.

The waffles were something else. unbelievable! If you have a bit of a sweet tooth then these are the way to go!! Super fluffy and that maple bacon was insane. I could eat those for breaky every day ☺️👌🏼
•
Highly recommend this spot for breaky in Warrnambool 👍🏼😅

Quirky place this was. Had the eggs atlantic and it was divine. Freshest and tastiest smoked salmon I've had in a long time, and the hollandaise was amazing. They had proper think hot chocolate too and some awesome sweet treats in the cabernet.

Cafe Lava, a home away from home. This massive open barn turned into a cafe was one of our first stops while traveling through the lovely town of Warrnambool.

The service was great, with very warm and welcoming staff that made us feel right at home. I had the Big Breakfast and safe to say I was very pleased with how everything looked and tasted!

They also have a large assortment of specialty hot chocolate that I highly recommend any sweet tooth to give it a go and try it out. I had the Caramel and was blown away!

✊💦✊💦
You call it morning after pill, I call it maple bacon😋
-
-
-
-
First morning of our trip in warnambool, and we started the day @cafelavawarrnambool; and couldn't have thought of a better place to fuel up for the day that we had ahead of us!
I've never been the biggest fan of sweet meat, but this maple bacon just hit the spot! I may be lactose intolerant but nothing could have kept me away from this! (sorry to all everyone that was stuck in the @lord_limo with me! 😘)
I know where I'm going next uni break! -
-
-
-
-
Price rating: ✊✊
Food rating: 💦💦💦
#shotoncanon #waffles #warnamboolfood #warnambool

Cafe Lava located in Warrnambool is an upbeat cafe resided in a large warehouse building with a barn style tin roof. From the street it doesn’t look like much but upon entering on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon the inside is rather sophisticated. Cafe Lave caught my eye as it was the only spot open that appeared to be serving coffee and I was craving my usual caffeine kick and down time before work.

The cafe features numerous seating options with a large share table in the middle and several other big tables ideal for family lunches and gatherings. After having a quick glance at the drinks menu I ordered just my usual takeaway long black but also opted for a vanilla milkshake to hit my sweet-tooth. At the counter my expectations where raised when I noted that the coffee beans where Toby Estate, a roast I’m familiar with characterised by its dark nutty textures.

My beverages where brought out to me and the frothiness of the milkshake was making my drool. The vanilla milkshake was ice cold and creamy but still sadly had a very artificial taste to it. Disappointed by the shake the long black made up for it slightly as it was hearty and aromatic with hazelnut and dark chocolate tasting notes.

Cafe Lava would be perfect for functions or large group lunches. The assortment of cakes on offer paired with a extend drinks list featuring both alcoholic drinks as well as several hot and cold beverage options is appealing. The coffee is average but the service is good and the atmosphere is pleasant. If I happen to have work around Warrnambool again I would probably pop in for lunch purply due to the comforting environment.

Why am I not suprised. If it wasn't for family, I would likely never visit Warrnambool again. The surf is average at best, the fishing isn't that good. It's cold albeit maybe 2 months of the year, windy all the time and there's so little sun the neighbours have 20, thats right, twenty solar panels on their house and they still pay more than $100 a quarter in a house of 4. At least there's good beer in Scotland, and the surf is better.
Which brings me to the metallic taste in my coffee, which usually means they don't clean the machine very often at Cafe Lava. The chicken soup... it was *trying* to be the chinese style chicken and corn soup, and it was a miserable failure. It was watery and had... chicken and corn in it, that's it. It doesn't take chef to look on youtube to figure out that the glutinous ingredient in chicken and corn soup is...! I'm going to let you look it up yourselves, 'do the footwork' as it were ;) - that's a hint btw.
Cafe Lava: appropriately named from the molton metal flavour that appears in the coffee no doubt.
I'll admit that you could do much worse in this godforsaken place.

Just too much of a hassle. Food was ok, however everything else was a shocker. Started with a DIY attitude from the staff with customers needing to get their own menus, clean their own table and move the previous dishes, get their own water, and order the food at the counter instead of being waited on. The wait staff had the attitude of everything was too much of a hassle for them, and then when we finally got our food, the knives and forks where so dirty that they had to be rewashed. Not exactly what we wanted, and the food is not exactly cheap either. There are far better places to eat in the area.

Great menu and range of herbal teas. They have changed owners reasonably recently and it's definitely improved.
Only complaint is the poached eggs are sometimes overcooked generally depending on how busy they are. Still a fave in warrnambool

Best coffee in Warrnambool. New owners have taken over since the bad reviews! This is my favourite cafe in Warrnambool: friendly staff, excellent coffee and very good lunches (the gnocchi special is delicious). A group of us come here once a week and we have never been disappointed.

Terrible coffee, burnt horrible. Complained and was asked if I wanted another, no thanks.

Greeted by a not so happy owner watching him take my coffee order and make it seemed like a chore. $4.80 for a 'large' take away coffee (see photo), pretty sure that's a regular size anywhere else. Flimsy take away cups, be aware that the lids easily pop off. If paying almost $5 for a regular sized T/A coffee I expect decent quality so it doesn't spill while drinking!
The female staff members always seem polite, just a shame about Mr.Happy behind the coffee machine.
Won't be rushing back anytime soon.
