Review The Little Bay Cafe - Watermans Bay

Frans du Plessis
Visited Little Bay for my birthday breakfast. Please was buzzing and busy. We had to wait for our booked seating but understandable with how busy they where and not a long wait. Our waiter was friendly and very polite. We waited a bit, again put that down to the amount of people that was there. Tip, make sure you prebook or you will be disappointed by not getting in… Food was great and enjoyed it. Menu on website is no longer their menu. So check when you get in. Loved their food. Had a Latte coffee and was one of the better coffees in Perth. Enjoy the vibe and food!

Beautiful venue, lovely staff and amazing food. Service was friendly and fast. Only down side is you can't book if you have less than 5 people, but we've never had to wait long. The veggie burrito bowl was so good!!

Really nice location and vibe, weekend breakfast is busy time so need to either book ahead or have patience to wait for up to an hour. Coffee was good and food was okay, although kids' breakfast was below average. Menu needs an uplift but otherwise beautiful place.

Such a beautiful and aesthetic cafe. The coffee is always good and the food was delicious. The staff were amazing and even though they were very busy they managed to fit us in and the food came very quickly. Great experience, we will be back.

Nothing beats an Aussie brunch on the beach! I live abroad in Canada now and the don't do breakfast like this back there. Man have I missed it. Some friends recommended I stop by Little Bay while I was home visiting family and I was not disappointed! Clearly a popular spot so we were sure to book a head. Service from the team was on point from start to finish even with a packed restaurant and a child in tow. Décor is beautiful and the food and coffee was divine. I got the veggie bay and added bacon cause I wanted the haloumi! The tomato chutney was an amazing surprise. Would not hesitate to go back next time I am back for a visit! Thanks for having us!

The atmosphere as soon as you walk in..wow super beach shack vibe. Very relaxing, wait staff were great. Orders were bang on. The function room table was so big and the decor was clean and simple but also sophisticated. We only had one very small gripe as a group. We booked for brunch to surprise a mate for his bday. The group before us did not get out in time, lucky we managed to stall the friend but it could have ruined the surprise. The staff then tried to usher us out when we had to leave. Coming in 2 times to tell us it's close to leaving time! ...overall great place 10/10 would go again. PS ravioli had us raving !

Ordered two dishes and they both were nice. Atmosphere was calm and peaceful, staffs were kind and friendly. For the chicken and waffle menu would be more nice if include a piece of lemon or lime on the plate.

Been here so many times since they opened. This is actually my all time fav cafe in Perth. Love everything about this cafe…the ambiance, the view, coffee, food and service. Its always so crowded so make sure to visit super early! Highly Recommended !

Has potential but does not deliver, unfortunately.
Food pretty average. Such a pity. The view probably keeps this venue open. Pretty overpriced though. $120 for 4 of us. Nothing on the menu is a "wow!" dish.
....
OK, firstly, no one uses soft Tofu in a vego dish. What the.. is that tomato pasty relish doing in a vego dish. It's as if someone who doesn't understand it tried to put it together. Ours remained half eaten. Toasted mushroom sarmie is great, but just far too much! Truffle eggs had genuine truffle. (Full marks for genuine truffle). Again.. why such thick slices? We ended up sharing the toastie and truffle eggs between 2 and that was a fair balance. We just get the feeling that there is just "too much" food. Service average. Coffee OK.
...
Not really keen for a second visit.
..
Overall a great location but food is pretty average. Pity such potential is not used in the best way.
It was a great day for the beach view. Our booking was on time but the person couldn’t find me or I didn’t hear her calling so we got there late. Fortunately there was no one after our booking so we got to stay longer than 90min. We sat by a door which was ok as it was warm but it was slightly annoying people going in and out so close to our table. My poached eggs were over cooked but the Turkish bread was yummy. I think everyone else also enjoyed their hollandaise. They had truffle omelet which was good but I thought not amazing. Could do with more truffle :)

Always so busy. And I can see why.

The location is right next to the beach and the busy highway. Decor is trendy, clean and gorgeous. Food are easily Instagrammable.

The only thing I dislike is the price. It's more expensive than your average brunch. I don't mind paying more for good food, however I've been here twice and both times the food were just average. The breakfast are way too sweet, chips are stale and even the ice matcha was powdery.

Shame because it would've been the perfect brunch joint. Won't come back for a while until they fix their food.

Busy for a weekday morning. We had a large group and they placed in a lovely enclosed room. Service was efficient and friendly. I loved the option to alternatives for dairy and gluten free. I got the granola which was so pretty, delicious with a generous serve and lots of crunchy bits. Yum!

Great breakfast on an absolutely beautiful morning with the windows open looking out over the glassy ocean and blue sky. My granola was one of the best I've had anywhere and all our party were very happy. Great service too.

This cafe is gorgeous to look at! Love the styling.... but the food is bad! Had breakfast and we shared a couple of dishes, mushrooms tasted like dirt, scrambled eggs we way over cooked, actually brown/burnt on the underside. Chicken and waffles was the driest dish ever. Needs to be served with guacamole or something to help it slide down. Really disappointed, won’t be back

Great view and coffee but not celiac friendly. My first visit here I asked if their gluten free menu items were ok for celiacs to which the waitress replied yes, but when I asked if the gluten free bread had a separate toaster I was told no, they use the same toaster for all the bread (which would cause cross contamination). I had the chia pudding instead and it was really nice. Second visit I ordered the granola which states gluten free on the menu and this time I didn’t ask any questions (which admittedly is my mistake). A short time after eating the granola I had a strong reaction and was not well. I phoned to ask if the granola was actually gluten free and the person I spoke to couldn’t give me a clear answer. So if you have celiac disease I would be very vigilant with questioning when ordering from the menu.

A relaxing spot overlooking the water. Some great menu options that will hit any taste type. Quick service and great coffee. I had the salmon eggs benedict which was delightful!

My only note would be on a hot summers day the open windows/heat might be an issue so get down early to catch the sea breeze.

We came for lunch without a booking and knowing that we may need to wait for a table as it would be a busy period. We put our name on the waiting list and eventually shown to our seat. Service was very prompt and we didn’t have to wait long to have our drinks and food orders taken. We had the Salt and Pepper Calamari with mango and chilli jam and slated cashew; Krunchy fried chicken burger with spiced chicken, bacon, cheese, sriracha mayo, and onion rings in a brioche bun; Beef Ragu Pappardelle- beef brisket, radicchio, hazelnut, saltbush, and parmesan; and the special Pork Belly with pineapple jam, kale and cashew, and garlic jus. We enjoyed the dishes, though the Krunchy Chicken burger could do with more sriracha mayo for me. The Salt and Pepper Calamari was pretty good. Loved the fact they could accomodate to our special order of a dirty matcha (matcha latte with a shot of coffee). Would love to come back to try their breakfast menu one day.

Came here for a takeaway iced latte and grabbed a raw peanut and jelly ball while I was at it. Both were delicious! As a newly opened place it’s very busy all the time. The view over the ocean is breathtaking though so I completely understand. Would love to feel some aircon in there but I’m sure when the sea breeze comes in it’s amazing.

Edit- ate here for breakfast. Had scrambled eggs hollandaise with kale and basil, then shared a serving of pancakes. Everything was divine and the service is still amazing! The girl waiting on us could recommend so many things.

The Little Bay (formally Bay 33) is a brand new café over looking the rocky cliffs and sandy beaches of Watermans Bay on West Coast Drive. The ocean-view spot is incredibly popular and has been an instant hit with the brunch crowd this summer! Owned by the peeps behind a favourite of ours, Little H, the bustling spot has hit the ground running and waiting for a table is not uncommon – but worth it.

Little Bay is beautifully located, right on the ocean front. The decor and design is really on point. We arrived around 10 without a booking and were happy to wait for a table. We ordered a smoothie through the takeaway area. The cashew coffee smoothie is soooo good! However 2 of our friends ordered the same smoothies and it came without the coffee shot.
Once we got inside the service was really good. Our food was quite average though. The mushroom and halloumi toastie lacked flavour for $16 it needs a bit more. Maybe some side salad or salsa to give it more flavour. The pineapple smoothie bowl while it looks really cute served in half a pineapple doesn’t have much smoothie and wasn’t actually blended smooth.
The coffee was good. Overall we weren’t overly impressed. Hoping it is just teething issues with getting the menu sorted

Really cute cafe with great service. Apart from my egg the rest of the food was great and it didn’t take long to come out. Will definitely be back.

The only amazing cafe with uninterrupted beach views. Coffee is just as good as little h. Food is great also. Atmosphere is chilled and chic. Our new favourite for end of walk coffee!

I attempted to come to the Little Bay on the day it opened to check it out; however, it was packed! We therefore returned early the next day whilst on our walk. Love the decor and chilled / relaxed vibe. The coffee is delicious .. do I dare to say the best north of the river! We will definitely return to have a meal soon.
