Review The Groove Train - Werribee

Syed Hossain
The food portion is perfect and the look is appealing. However, the foods are overpriced compare to utterly average taste. Foods were blend in taste unfortunately. The wooden tables were heavily sticky due to recent polish maintenance. I don't need to explain for how it feels to have dinner on a sticky table in a renown place. The staff was not even apologetic for such poor table appearance. Because, when I drawn the attention of staff, she replied with "our tables are sticky as they are not dried yet". I should have responded at the pay counter "you don't deserve full payment because the food is not tasty and the table feels greasy"?

Great food, and great customer service too. The food is pricy for the quality and the taste And the alcohol is extremely pricy as well.

Great customer service and management! Checking in on our food and drinks. Friendly and just a joy to be around. Food was AMAZING!!!!!!!! 5 stars for the food and a decent amount. Also .. finally you get some mushroom sauce in a bowl and not charged $4 for it separately. We will be back! Thanks guys !

I really had a good time. The customer service and the ambience is great. I personally felt the noodles were sweet due to the soy and couldn't really finish it. Liked the lamb and rice. The salad was good and chicken was perfectly cooked. We loved the Bali party drink, it was so good and the aloha was also good.

Excellent food and the service makes this restaurant a level above the surrounding restaurants. Highly recommended.

I love the food and everytime I come to have dinner the atmosphere is great, especially the drinks. The service was good although my sis and I had a hard time getting the staff's attention when we wanted to order. The lady just ignored us or didnt take the hint or maybe she didn't see us, it took us 15 minutes until another kind lady served us. I just had to say as I had better experience in other restaurants with their service.

Great food and friendly staff !! Their porterhouse steak was simply delightful!!

Visited this place for my partners birthday dinner. Firstly. Not only was the staff clueless and very unorganised but the wait for them to come take our order should of been the first indication of a bad experience. Secondly We finally ordered our meals and drinks and the drinks came after 20-25 minutes and they brought the wrong drinks initially. Thirdly the food came eventually after we were all pretty unamused. T this point but the food arrived after about 45-50 minutes past ordering. The service again was shocking and when we complained at the end the lady at the front was uninterested and did not care in the slightest when we told her we were not happy with the service. We informed her of us leaving a bad review and also informed we wouldn’t be returning to this restaurant because of this all she said was “yeah sorry, have a nice night” and just laughed it off. Very poor would not recommend and we won’t be ever coming back. If there was an option to leave negative stars I would leave them as many as I could. Have not been this annoyed and infuriated by an experience before but this was my partners birthday dinner and it just felt like it ruined her night. Thanks again “groove train”.Ps. NO GROOVE to be felt Also not a single train was seen.

Food is definitely very good, service was pathetic. Went for a family dinner on cup day evening, staff was not bothered about giving basic amenities like water, cutlery and napkins. Had to ask for everything and then too they didn’t turn up. Had to get up and fetch water and glasses myself.
Would appreciate if staff looks after customers rather than just giggling around the bar area.
I have been to a few Groove Trains in my time and this one would have to be one of the most average. There are definitely better options in the Urban Diner area.

Oddly enough chips underneath the Parmi (one of the biggest tragedies known to man) is company standard and whilst you can ask for it to be changed, there is no Ham. Both other venues in the area that offer a parmi will provide you with Ham just as we as Australians have not only come to know and love, but also claim as a birth right on our Chicken Parmigiana!

I have also witnessed with dinner guests that if you want the risotto, you are better off choosing something else. However, their eggplant chips are always a stand out and highly recommend them!

Really big portions which was good. Had the Calamari main dish which I actually really liked. I wonder why the reviews are so bad here - perhaps it's the decor? It did seem a bit run down to me and the place was super empty when we were there but in terms of food, I left feeling happy.

Went to check out the place and food they offer. Certainly was not disappointed
Food is great and staff very welcoming. Mix variety of food items, Thai, Mexican, curries etc
Had grilled chicken salad and liked it.

The presentation of food was good, however taste was just okay. The fishermen’s basket came with a very small portion of tartar sauce and for additional sauce you need to pay $1. Food was tasteless so we had to pay $1 for cut chili. Absolutely not worth it for $37. Arancini and the napolitana sauce was good, but the salad was very dry. Overall, better spend $52 at other place. Plus, waiters work so slow even at quiet times!

Best food & service in the West! Can’t help but to come back everytime. Waitresses/waiters very polite and always happy to help and the food is always spot on

Nice vibe to the place and good staff. Had bruschetta which is very nice and a tandoori chicken wood fried pizza which is good pizza but not really tandoori flavours. But all in all a nice place to try. Would be back to try other menu items which seems very interesting

Pretty average overall. Could be so so soooo much more. Great location, good menu to work with, but let down greatly by lack of passion and staff. Although I have heard the staff aren't exactly happy for various reasons so perhaps that's why.
Staff is any venues make or break point.. So invest wisely.

Went there on Mothers Day without making a booking and we were lucky to get a table immediately even they were busy. Their watering staff were very attentive, good smile on the face even it was a busy Mothers Day.

The menu was extensive and we ordered beef ragout risotto and fishermans basket. There were plenty of seafoods in the fishermans basket such as fish fillets, tiger prawns, scallops, calamari along with salad and chips. The tiger prawns and scallops were good. Well marinated and nicely grilled. Unfortunately the fish fillet (I believe is barramundi) since a bit ordinary. The batter is flavourless and the fish had strong odor. (Hog-wash or salt water could be used to remove odor before cooking). For the risotto, it was bland. I could taste the beef stock but nothing else. It needed a bit more kick of spice into it.

In the area looking for a bite to eat, this must be the busiest restaurant in Werribee on a Saturday night. Luckily someone cancelled their booking and they were able to fit in our group of 8.

Service was very friendly and accomodating. The menu is extensive and it was hard to choose! We tried the southern fried chicken burger, prosciutto pizza, beef and bacon burger, kids spaghetti and Spaghetti Alla Groove.

Portion sizes were quite large and meals did not take too long despite being a full house. My chicken burger was very tasty however the chips were terrible, they just tasted stale and had an odd flavour. I could not eat them.

My Partner was not a fan of the beef and bacon burger, the meat fell apart, it was very oily and the bacon was very fatty. Kids enjoyed their pasta. Our other diners enjoyed the prosciutto pizza and Spaghetti alla Groove.

Since this place has such a large variety of menu options, I would probably try it again.

Good food, quick service and surprisingly yummy desserts (the ones in the display cabinet). The waiters are very helpful and the whole place has a nice cheerful environment

I'm not sure why I'm in the land of monster sized servings with balsamic vinegar coating everything, but I'm really not sure why the vegie burger isn't listed as a vegetarian option. Is there a market for non-vegetarian mock-vegetarian meals? I know mock meat is a (usually unsuccessful and nauseating) thing but non-vegetarian vegetarian seems redundant. Here's hoping it's just an error on the menu but I'm not risking any sneaky meats popping up in my chickpea patty.

I've been here a couple of times at friends requests and the service and food quality has been consistently quite average. Staff are friendly enough but the food is bland. Today I ordered the warm beef salad. The beef strips in the salad tasted like an old hard rubber thong, there was more soggy sweet potato shavings than salad and the salad dressing had zero flavour, come to think of it, not sure it was even dressed, other than with oil. I ordered the Groove Train lemonade as I was thirsty and it was supposed to be the bigger option than just a Coke. It wasn't. It had more ice than liquid and was filled with way too much of some sickly sweet syrup. I had to dilute it with water like cordial, to be able to drink it. On a positive note my friends didn't mind their Caesar salad and focaccia which looked and tasted better than mine.
Trust Me
Extremely overpriced food for the quality. Service is decent, nothing too special. Location is the only decent thing about this joint, overhyped because of the name.

Terrible food. Had a chicken souvelaki and the unworthy amount of chicken was dry and Flavourless. There was noone in the restaurant so the chec could have put a little more attention into our dinner. Wont recommend, and def wont be returning

Excellent food, very well presented and prepared. The service was prompt and with a smile. Great serving sizes too!! The Pimms jug at $19.00 is great value. We loved everything, will definitely be back!! The birthday person gets a free meal too which was great for my son!!

If i could give this place 0/10, i would. Ordered souvalaki.... came out soggy, barely any meat and the chips were unsalted. Not justisfied as being priced $20

Italian modern cuisine. Average to above average prices over all. Service was quite good but didn't warrant a tip. Quite large variety of choices, however, large choice menus usually lower overall quality, but salt and pepper squid was very nice. I would eat there again, but wouldn't be running there.

Service was ok.
Food was below average.
Can't remember a time I ate a parma this bad.

The parma was layered with sauce, cheese, then more sauce (a ridiculous amount), finally shavings of parmesan cheese...
Personally I wouldn't go back.

We first discovered this Groove train after the Plaza had its upgrade not so long ago..
We had an awesome experience on our first visit and i gave a 5 star facebook review due to the promptness, freshness and the desire to find us a seat even though the place was packed.
Our food was delicious and the services was almost over kill in a positive way :)
We jave continued to dine here almost every week for the past few months and NEVER have had a negative experience. . More to the point.. we argue with people who rell is there experience was negative. . Yes everywhere you go have little hick ups and mistakes but i think its the speed that these mistakes are corrected and the attitude things are dealt with that is important. ..
Vanessa and Chris.. owner and manager have alwaus welcomed us and made our dining experience with 3 kids great..
My wife is fussy and they always accommodate her.
Yes i am speaking from personal experience but we were stangers the first time we dined.. now we are made to feel like family arriving home on arrival..
Thank you GT.. we truly enjoy eating at the establishment. .. :)

Biggest Groove Train I have been to which practically guarantees a seat for small tables.
I used to avoid Groove Train as a vegetarian, however I have noticed they have added more options which is great to see. The staff here are accommodating with any requests for meal changes such as omitting an ingredient, which is something I definitely appreciate!

This isn't fine dining and it isn't the cheapest meal out there, however I always leave full and quite happy with my meal.

Staff were a bit slow today taking orders however the kitchen staff made up for it with speedy cooking of our meals.

Tried this place for the first time the other day. The service was appalling. I felt like the staff would have preferred we were not there to ruin their evening. Food was very not terrible but was overpriced for what it is. It's a real shame the experience was not better. I was there on a weeknight when they were not very busy. Maybe the service is better on weekends?

Was a bit of of a hit and miss. I ended up ordering the fish of the day - Grilled Barra with rosemary & butter sauce served with Parmesan & rocket salad. & that's exactly what I got, bones and all (for the bargain price of $28.50). Was expecting a bit more, anything, judging from the price - sadly I was mistaken. It was very oily and lacking in flavour. Hubby got the lamb pizza which was yummy (I snuck a piece), lovely and fresh with complimenting flavours. The kids were also divided. Little one with his tropical pizza was satisfied, but master 15's tastebuds weren't quite mature enough to handle the Gorgonzola cheese on his pizza (personally I don't think any of our tastebuds are refined enough to handle that). Will probably come back for another go. The menu was pretty varied with something for pretty much everybody.

We came just after twelve, all excited as its our first time. Their service is good and staff are friendly, unfortunately we think the food lacked in taste. We ordered Chicken Parma, Nasi Goreng and Fettuccini Carbonara, anyone would think those are safe food to order but we were all disappointed that they had no taste that when you add salt then it's all just salty taste!

whilst the service was very good - the food was not - I ordered a chicken Parma and my wife a eggplant Parma - neither dish was pleasing. To add to this I sent feedback to the head office via their website - to which I received no response. I would not waste your time or money going to this eatery...there are a lot more locations at Pacific Werribee that are worth your time as the food they deliver is delicious.

Have eaten here quite a few times since opening. Service can be very good or very poor, depending on the visit (and usually the time of visit - tends to be better at breakfast and lunch than busy dinners). Well located clean fresh decor. Parking depends on day / time. Food can be average or very good. Some wait staff attentive, others leave a lot to be desired. Extensive menu that caters to most, but lacks in specific dietary requirements. Good for families. Recommend.

We are lovers of the Groove Train at Harbour Town so were excited to see the new Werribee store opened. what a disappointment it was though. We were never given the specials menu for food or drinks, I wanted a cocktail but assumed they didn't do them because I never got to see the menu.We had to flag someone down to take our order after waiting for some time (it wasn't busy at this time, around 5:30pm, the staff were just too busy talking to each other)I ordered a soy iced chocolate, the first thing I got was a room temperature coffee and then when I brought it to the staff's attention received a room temperature chocolate. (I'm guessing they hadn't chilled their soy milk and didn't bother telling me so I could order something else instead). entrée (eggplant chips) were great. my main (lamb souva) was cold and my partner's wood fire pizza was soggy (I'm guessing they had been sitting there for a while). overall, not a great experience.

We are here for the first time today. Came at 2pm so it wasn't very busy. I ordered the Spaghetti Alla Groove and my partner the steak sandwich. Spaghetti had nice flavours but was a tad oily. Good serving size. Steak was a bit on the thin side so it seemed like it was all bread and no meat. Overall ok flavours but not worth $18.90. Kind of what we expected for a Groove Train in Werribee but we were quietly hoping we'd be surprised.

Food is barely average. Would never waste my money here again.

Took our niece for a Sunday breakfast for her 13th Birthday.

Extremely busy, seriously understaffed. 4 floor staff, 1 barista for a restaurant with perhaps 100pax seated.

15 minutes to order - 20 minutes later our coffee arrived. Food - 67 minutes from order to service.

It tasted ok but the delight had worn off - we were just "hangry".

The offer of a voucher for next time doesn't cut it when it's a $5 voucher - no comp drinks makes up for this. The quickest way to kill a new business is to provide crap food, crap service....or worse - both! On this occasion food was ok, just sloooooow
MsLizzyK
Worst baked eggs I've ever had. You can't heat up a tomato and some marinated capsicum in the microwave and put an egg ontop and call it baked eggs. And the coffee sucks. And when a customer tells you their meal sucked and took forever to come out, an unauthentic 'sorry, here's the bill' isn't a great way to deal with it.

Great meal! Friendly staff. Extensive menu that offered so much choice. Meals that arrived at the table matched all expectations! Great night out.
