Review Pho 128 - Werribee

Mig Artugue
Went in at lunchtime and ordered a $16 bowl of pho and presented the card for payment. The lady says minimum $20 on card. I offer to pay extra to cover the transaction fee but the lady refuses and keeps rudely repeating “minimum $20 on card.” I just wanted a bowl of soup. Hey, Pho128, you guys should try being nicer to people trying to give you money.

One of the best PHO in the west The previous review was done a couple of years ago. I don't know what happened, the new owners or a new chef but the PHO they make now is the worse I ever tried. They started to add something like fried onion to the soup, it's so fatty and taste awful....soo sad ...it was my favorite place to go to.

I think it's the last time I'll eat here. I was happy paying $15 max but $18 for a bowl of pho.....wow. I think I'll just travel to Footscray or sunshine where the prices are more reasonable at $13.50 for a large bowl of the same thing. It's good pho but it doesn't justify the price. Ouch.

We ate here on a Friday at 5pm and the place was dead quiet. We were the only customers at the restaurant which made the service very quick. Irritatingly enough, they don't support any form of card payments, ie. cash only! This was the only annoying thing on our visit as I had to walk down the road to my bank's ATM to withdraw cash. Overall though, it's a nice restaurant with a good range of Vietnamese dishes at a good price and above average quality. And yes, they have male and female toilets. Will definitely be our local pho spot!

An awesome Vietnamese place with absolutely wonderful pho on the menu, great rice paper rolls and a friendly staff. Prices are alright and service is nice. Takeaway possible of course!

Conveniently located in Werribee. Delicious chicken Pho - I like it as it is not as salty as the other places I've tried.

Pho tastes like salty water, no depth of flavour considering they are meant to specialise in Pho. and these guys use processed chicken breast in their food. Should be fresh chicken considering the overly priced menu. I’ve ordered from here for ages, spent lots of money and the quality just gets worse. Never again.

My kids favourite. We used to go here weekly but covid hit. The food was nice and affordable.

How disappointing.
Had the Beef Pho here and I was disgusted that they can be producing this crap.
Broth tasted just like chicken stock made up from powder, very small amount of noodles.
Will not be going back.

Great looking place reasonably clean with friendly service. Tried the special beef pho and combination fried pork rice dish. Also had vegetable spring rolls and deep fried wontons. Wontons were made with pork sausage and did not make an impact, spring rolls were better. The pho was nice but missing some chilli and tripe was too hard. This place has potential but needs to try harder as competitors hardens.

Beautiful clean and friendly restaurant. The best seafood pho and spring rolls I’ve ever had outside Vietnam. Wish I lived closer.
Beautiful food Thankyou

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Terrible terrible customer service! Ordered Vietnamese fried rice tasted super bad, bland, raw veggies, unflavored. Asked for it to go and told the waitress that it was bad. The chef/owner came out and told me that he tasted it and there’s nothing wrong with it and that’s how it is and walked away. I went up and said I wanted it to go what happened? He ate it so I asked for a refund. They said no refund.
Even the waitress knew to apologize when I said the dish was bad. This gentleman continues to argue with me and refuses to admit that his dish may need improvement. I asked if this is the right way to treat customers, and if he even wants business. He said it’s not my problem. They have no intention of making their food better or treating customers like he wants them to return. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I’ve been here more than once and all I wanted was them to admit maybe they could improve. Did not ask for a refund in the beginning. Did not expect to get yelled at. Never returning!
FOOD TRIP
Pho 128 is one of the few vietnamese restaurants in the Werribee area. The restaurant is clean and spacious but the food just isn't great. Wouldn't come back. Essential condiments for pho. Chilli Beef and Pork Vermicelli Noodle Soup $13. The broth was super dark and full of unknown herbs and spices. Flavour was overly strong. Did not taste like BBH. Wouldn't recommend ★

My boyfriend and I come here often for their pho. This place is a bit pricey for what you get, but it’s so close to where we live that we kinda look past that. Would also prefer if they had different sizes for the pho. You do get a decent about of meat with your pho and I like the taste of the broth. Also a big fan of their fired chicken wings as they’re really fresh and crispy, the crab spring rolls are yummy and I also have the combination grilled pork rice on those rare days I don’t feel like pho.
Their nuoc mam is a little too sweet for my liking, but again we look past that.

The food is okay, but the service was extremely slow and very impolite. 8 of us ordered together, but they only served 4 first and the others waited for half an hour
Scrumptious GG
Had a grilled pork broken rice with the lot, and grilled chicken broken rice with the lot, and I was confused. The chicken didn't taste like traditional Vietnamese grilled with lemongrass, instead it tasted like Indian chicken curry.
But the pork was good, well marinated and juicy.
The plate consists of meat, fried egg, half of the tough and dry ham, pickle veggies, and don't deceived by the look of the rice on the side. It looked generous, but it was in fact only very little amount. I ate everything on the plate and I still hungry, ended up buying a snack at coles to fill myself. For $12.50, it wasn't worth the money.
Service was okay.

The customer service is poor but its the chilli beef pho that keeps me going back there. Pho is the best iv had in Melbourne but customer service is 2/10

A friend and I went to Werribee to meet a friend and have lunch. My friend really felt like pho 🍲 but my other friend who lives in Werribee was apprehensive about coming here because she said the pho wasn't very good. We decided to eat here anyway. When I walked in I noticed that the decor was horrendous, I know they were trying to look classy but it was really tacky, I hope they didn't spend too much money on those ugly chairs and the weird features on the walls.

When we had a look through the menu I noticed the pho was $11.50 and they didn't have different sizes so I assumed it would be a medium. My friends ordered a beef pho to share and I was going to order some dumplings and sneak in a tiny bit of theirs but I was shocked to see that it was a small size so I decided just to order a beef and tendon pho for myself. The first thing I noticed when I tasted the broth was that it had a strong clove flavour, at first I wasn't sure but I liked it in the end. There was plenty of beef and heaps of tendon but I didn't think the beef was as good quality as the beef in my favourite pho but it was better than some others I've had.

The lady working here wasn't that friendly but she wasn't rude either. She made us pay for our pho beforehand and it's cash only which sucks. There's a big sign saying there's an ATM in the restaurant next door which I think has the same owners but you don't need to go there because there's a Coles directory across the road. I think this pho place is good enough if you don't feel like traveling to Footscray but it is an expensive pho for the size and quality.

This is a consistently good pho joint. Our fave is jo #13 the beef and brisket...good meat pieces, great broth. We get chillies on the side. We also order their rice dishes, spring rolls and dumplings. We eat in and take out. Always happy with the service and food. Prices are reasonable. Service is fast and ok.

Great Vietnamese food outlet in Werribee for Pho. I am already seeing myself going to this place often. Very addictive tasty pho, specially during winter months 😉👌🏽

Meal sizes aren't as pictured - prices have increased slightly majority 11.50 still not bad.

Food quality is ok for the price.

Decent meal, agree with others ok alternative other than driving to footy.

would not recommend this restaurants to anybody, absolute rubbish, worst food we have ever tasted, no wonder the place only had a couple of people in it.

This pho restaurant is located on the main street in Werribee. I was recommended to try their pho. The ordering was different to other pho places; customers had to grab their own menu, order and pay for their meal at the counter ( cash only). I ordered #11 Pho Special Beef combination for $11. The broth was not as rich and deep and could taste the MSG. I expected rare beef slices, however every beef slice was already cooked and had a lot of fat. It was chewy and unpleasant. The noodles were not bad, not soggy and retained the chewy texture.

Later that tonight, I had a dry throat, probably due to MSG.

Environment: Casual, unusual ordering system
Food: Below average

Looks very nice inside and could have good potential. But when I ask them if they can make anything gluten free and they have no idea what I am talking about, means I walk straight out.
It's 2016 nearly 2017, time you learnt English and understood what gluteen free means.

We normally go to Footscray for authentic Vietnamese food, but we were in the area so we tried it here. I like the Special beef phó and the wonton noodles soup is delicious. The crab springrolls is very good but very pricey with only 3 small leaves of iceberg lettuce. The lychee drink was so watered down with no lychee pieces on it at all. I just asked to omit the usual jelly - not the lychee. It tasted soapy. The 3 colours drink do not have much on it, coconut milk or beans. Cash only, No eftpos. Is this even legal nowadays? And oh yeah - no ample heating. We were freezing at noon time. Hope they do something about it.
Caroline
They only take cash. Which screams tax evasion to me. Automatic thumbs down because I had to go to Coles to take out money. Hate restaraunts and cafes that won't make things convenient for the customer. Food is Average

I ordered a chicken breast pho which was $11 and on the stingy side with their noodles. There were no options for sizing.
The pho itself was surprisingly nice, wasn't expecting too much for flavour considering location so it was a pleasant surprise. Although I suspect a lot of MSG was used, more than your average bowl of pho, make sure you ask for lots of water.
Customer service was nonexistent, the only time I even saw a staff member was when I was ordering at the register and when they bought out our food after that they completely disappeared.
There were 2-3 tables which had dirty dishes on them that had been sitting there when we walked in, and still there when we left. The restaurant only had 1 other table so can't see any reason why they weren't cleared away.
Unless you were desperate for a bowl of pho I wouldn't recommend this place, even the pleasant flavour of the pho could not make up for the negatives of the place. Take the trip to footscray and you will walk out feeling a lot more satisfied and money well spent here.

Long wait. Below average food. If you're in a rush, I don't recommend this place.

I called the restaurant an hour in advance with my order hoping it would be ready by the time I got there.

I waited 30 minutes for my order and the venue wasn't even that busy. I'd usually go to the chicken shop across the road which I highly recommend.

Food was under average compared to other Vietnamese places such as hung vuong but you can't complain since it's in Werribee.

Food: 4/10
Service: 2/10

Worst experience ever. First time I had been here and the last time...
After I waited 45 min for takeaway I finally got my meal ( fried calamari ) when I tried 2 eat it I couldn't because it was that tough, I even had trouble trying 2 tear it with my hands. And as for the rice and pickled veg that came as a meal, it was terrible..........
Will not be back

Crap. Got the grilled chicken with rice and could see all the little chicken hairs still on the skin. Put me off. I asked if a small bowl of soup comes with the dish as it usually does in other vietnamese restaurants and the waitress cut me off with no and didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I wouldn't call it authentic vietnamese food. Never coming back, only had 3 bites.

Only come here if you want microwaved food after waiting over 45mins for an entree. Never. Again.
Tanyawei123g
Likes it. Food is ok here , but too slow , waited 20min for ph0!
Though I quite like the soursop smoothie:-)maybe try on weekdays when they're not busy

Great food. Have eaten here a few times now. Tried different dishes on their menu when everytime I came here. Food here really worths trying. It was quite fast and tasty. I especially like their noodle soup. The serving sizes are good and prices are reasonable. The service here is friendly, too. I would come here frequently for sure.

3rd Time let down. 3 Strikes and you're out!

On my first visit to Pho128 I tried their Sliced beef Pho - Very poor broth or soup, almost as if it's instant, lacked authenticity and richness.
The sliced Beef was poor quality and was not thinly sliced. I think they use the wrong cut of meat because it was really chewy.
Their sliced Chicken pho consists of small cubes of chicken that have probable been frozen before hand. Really lacks flavour.
I had to give their combination grilled pork chop on broken rice a go. The pork chop was tiny, half the size you'd get in footscray, it lacked flavour and wasn't crunchy. The meat was hard, not succulent and had a soggy finish.

They've been really quiet the past few weeks and i'm not surprised. There was no chef in the back, just a young lady preparing food (unless that is the chef).

I'd rate this place a 2/10 stars for quality. 1 Star for being open and providing a service, and another star for speed. Although I was the only customer.

Good service, excellent PHO, very reasonable prices

Cash only. Walked in and placed a $40+ take away order only to find they only take cash. Really?? Their loss and Spice Up Thai's (across the road) gain.

The slowest restaurant I ever been. Went there last sat with family n friend. Wait near 1hrs to get food serve. Worse is most of our disc are cool and hard to eat. That restaurant apparently run n cook by China Chinese instead of Vietnamese, fake pho food

Not happy to dine again. Food was ok. The first restaurant I have ever experienced which didn't offer a drink of water until we walked out after dining.

First dine in with my family 2014, worth trying, their portions are huge, bigger than city's ,no wonder they sell$10,. My kids love their rice paper roll, but I'm not really impressed , $8.9 for 3 , a bit pricey than most Vietnamese restaurant in here, taste is just ok which was disappointing , the broth is good if you order beef pho ,strong flavor , we enjoyed it! My bro so into their grilled pork vermicelli which I thought it's too salty . Not much table service in here and they ask you pay first , but waitress was so kind and really nice to my kids. I heard this place since I move in the neighbourhood of months ago from city. To be honestly, I lived in Vietnam more than 5 years , pho in Vietnam is a street food , taste is so different in every shops . I like this pho place not just because it's really near my house , also their food just right for me. I would go back for sure.

First night here, loved it!!! Food was fast, fresh and really good! Service was great, staff were really pleasant and tentative. Serving sizes are good too. No need to drive into the city anymore with this around the corner from home! Will definitely frequent Pho 128!!

Yummy vietnamese pho with my darling hubby .--- can't wait for more♡
They don't have many meals on their menu~but really nice food and good services too♡wish they bring out more food in the future~~~

Really likes it!. Really fast and cheap! their chilli beef and pork chop are to die for !! we're sure to see them tomorrow!!! haha
Justin
Wonderful! Food is awesome and fast. Also cheap
Kris
Not good! Both our meals were inedible.. I usually love Vietnamese food but I'm guessing traditional is a little different to what I'm used to, overpriced, had to throw both meals away. Disappointed

I truely wanted this place to be as good as the pho places in footscray or sunshine given its 2mins from home, sadly it is not.....!!!! Meal wasnt anything special probably a good thing they make you pay first! Staff could use some personality and manners! I wouldnt advise a visit, though if you must stick to the pho rather than go for a meal :)

Not overly impressed but acceptable. I had the Special Beef Pho - not overly impressed by the amount of oil that was floating on top! The waitress brought me a bowl so I could skim the oil off and I ended up having a whole rice bowl of soup on the side. Besides that, the soup tasted good and serving size was reasonable. Price is a little more than what you would pay in the CBD/Footscray/Springvale but for the convenience of having a pho restaurant in the neighborhood is a big plus.

My husband had the grilled pork chop on rice - he thought the flavour of the pork chop was great. Good serving size too.
