Review Coffee Pot Cafe - Werribee

Jatin Rai
We had to wait exact 40min for the food to arrive on a Friday afternoon , and to the disappointment found a hair in one of the dish , the porched eggs were more cooked and tasted too sour where as the had asked for crispy bacon and got burnt bacon we were offered a refund for the dish thanks for that ,but it was not at all a pleasant experience and spoilt our mood and regretted the decision of going to this cafe . Would request the cafe owner to look after the quality of food and hygiene

This has become my favourite place to spend time drinking coffee. Meals occasionally come out a little slow, but delicious and well portioned. The coffee meets my refined Melbournian expectations, best enjoyed on the back deck which is dapple shaded under the weeping eucalyptus canopies by the river. Cool, casual and comfortable. An ideal local go-to.

Friendly front of house service. Average food. Only one person in kitchen cooking resulting in wait time of over 30 minutes for 3 meals. Other patrons had to ask when their order was ready or if meals could be reheated. Quick service for items such as coffee and cakes! Unfortunately, not as up to par for the price of other (highly recommended) local cafe's. Won't be returning to this cafe!

Won’t be coming here again. Coffee was nice but smaller than your average coffee. We Ordered breakfasts. Service was slow and wasn’t even very busy. Both lots were dry. Poached eggs over done were hard. Very bland and just overall rubbish. We eat at different places every weekend this has to be one of the worst.

We ordered, an extra hot lattee.a skim cappuccino with deep fried calamari with chips also a avocado smash.. Wonderful. Cooked brilliantly..Tasted Devine and that was mine..Avacado smash was. Lovely and delicious....Coffees were hot and enjoyable. Drove past glad we stopped in..We'll worth it.. Staff friendly and helpful. Sat outside, enjoyable on a sunny day.

Quite expensive and cramped compared to other local cafes.. yet the food and coffee are awesome and occasionally worth paying for. The outdoor dining area round the back has a one of a kind view overlooking Werribee River but it can be difficult to get a table. The staff are not usually too interested in prioritising customer service which makes it slightly awkward, especially if you aren't a regular here.

Great menu and friendly service. Coffee is good and the fresh juice is great in the morning. The best feature of this gem is the back balcony, nice and peaceful and quite a pretty view. Slight wait when busy but only to be expected.

Dropped in for lunch today. Very disappointed. Ordered a beer and wine first. No beer available except for vb.. which might be ok for some. The sparkling that i ordered was sealed with glad wrap..undrinkable... had a sauv blanc.. who knows how long that had been open for.. oh and then the food... I ordered the Moroccan lamb salad.. after waiting 50 mins i returned it as nothing like the description on the menu. My husband struggled through the extremely oily meal of whiting that he ordered. Had to ask for our chips as a side order which had been forgotten.. but probably the only thing edible. Extreme disappointing. Won't be back.

DO NOT GO HERE. Got food poisoning. Place was filthy and the staff were so rude. Don’t even get me started on the owner think he has anger management issues and needs to see a specialist. Food was very average.

Would not recommend

Clean cafe, has plenty of seat as they have an outdoor area at the back.
The dissapointment came after I was served with burnt ham and cheese croissant as you can see from the pic. It was hard, chewy, and tasted pretty bad.
The coffee was alright, could be creamier.
Service was good and quick, but I'm not in a rush to be back in the near future.

Ordered the fish and chips, what a joke... one piece of fish which was a piece of frozen fish from a packet!!! And a few chips which were over cooked and quarter of plate of salad which had to much red onion and 3 pots of sauce. This place has gone down hill big time. I have had fish and chips from here before and it definitely wasn’t frozen fish.

Oh how The Coffee Pot has suffered such a sad demise. 6 years ago the Coffee Pot was a shining beacon of hope in the far west and was always my favourite. Returning here last week I was amazed at how things have changed. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food to arrive (2 people) and other people around us who had ordered food 30 minutes afterwards were getting their food first.

When the food did eventually come out it was extremely disappointing and definitely not worth the wait.

The below meal was $18. $18 to much; cold and tasteless mushrooms, soggy and cold bread and not fresh at all.

The girls making coffee and handing out food were fantastic and it was evident how embarrassed they were with the conduct of the kitchen and chef even saying 'I tell the chef to make the orders in order but he doesn't listen'. There needs to be a serious review of this place by the owners or it will not survive with the increase in cafe competition in Werribee.

I hope that if I return in 6 years that The Coffee Pot has lifted it's game.

Food was OK but service was terrible. Our breakfast order for 3 took 45 minutes to arrive and one of the orders was incorrect. Took another 15 minutes to have it sent back to the kitchen. Then it came out incorrect again. At this stage we just accepted the incorrect order because we didn't have all day. Will not be returning even though the ambience, particularly the outdoor deck, is pretty nice.

This place is pretty good. Been here several times, always a go to. I've gotten pickier with my order but aside from not cooking bacon to my ridiculous standard (really well done, almost burnt, crispy like American bacon), I love coming here. Nice atmosphere, good coffee, fresh juice, what more could you want?

A great atmosphere and potential to be a wonderful place to meet on the deck. However even though there were a handful of people in the venue, we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Even after this long wait, our order was wrong and a meal had been given to another table which saw us wait another 15 minutes. The food was very average and coffee below ordinary and it was a disappointing experience. Lovely staff however I would not return here.

Whilst the service and coffee was above average with lovely staff , unfortunately that's all there is to this cafe. The food is absolutely appalling! I ordered the smashed avocados with extra poached eggs and I just don't understand how you can screw up such a simple dish.
The sourdough was dry and clearly not fresh. The smashed avocado, feta n smoked salmon had barely any flavour and no seasoning?!. I didn't see nor taste any salt/pepper or anything that would've made the dish more flavourful.

Unfortunately I will not be coming back. the chef here really needs to step up his game and management needs to invest into standard quality ingredients because they'll be losing even more customers with such horrendous food.

oh, I also ordered the chai latte and that was delicious:)

The only reason this place got a 1 is for how polite the staff were. The food was horrible. No great flavour and burnt. We had the waffles and the smash avacado. Not worth the try even though it's cheap. We thankfully got our money back as we barely ate our food. Won't be going back. EVER

Beautiful sunny morning on the back deck, can't fault the view.

Coffee was on point. The banana smoothie was amazing.

My partner and I had French toast topped with banana, cinnamon and maple syrup, it was like any other mediocre French toast, nothing special but not bad.

Do not waste your money here, everything on the plate was cheap quality, you can make this at home.
There was no taste, bread was cheap quality, eggs didnt taste good.. we ordered 2 smashed ava and onother brekky muffin with hashbrowns. . Seriously we did not eat our food.. the worst breakfast place we have ever been too

Went here for a nice mother/daughter breakfast and was sorely disappointed. We waited 28 minutes to be served two serves of smashed avocado on toast. There were people who walked in after us who were served full cooked breakfasts while we were left waiting. What's more, the chunks in the smash were rock hard, bitter and clearly not ripe. To top it off, there was a piece of peel in my smash the size of a 50 cent piece and the soughdough bread it was served on was tiny. In total we were charged $40 for two serves of avocado on toast, one pot of Early Grey tea and one Caramel thick shake. Yes that's right folks, were we charged $15 each for the avocado on toast!! And it wasn't even on both slices!! Thank god for the Blake Seed cafe which has just opened up across the road where I promptly went and was served an amazing coffee in less than two minutes. I used to love coming to the coffee pot, and it's sad to see how much it's let itself go. Now it's just an over priced, badly serviced has been with less than ordinary food. I won't be wasting my time or money here again unless I hear it's under new management.

Terrible cafe experience! I went there on Sunday morning for breakfast and after passing on several of the other cafes in the area (big mistake), decided to try The Coffee Pot Cafe. The menu was the usual fare and reasonably priced but the food left a lot to be desired. The produce is not fresh and the cook doesn't appear to care either. Eggs were overlooked, the sausage was disgusting and I was served the driest, most inedible waffles that no amount of syrup or ice cream could save. Left feeling ripped off and would never come back again !!!

Definitely one of my go to spots. Never really had a bad experience, and the price hits the spot, if I was being picky they could fry their mushrooms for a bit longer though, otherwise delicious.

Past 3 visits. In my last 3 visits to the cafe I have had poor service and long waits for cold food. Will not be returning!!

Yummy for a great price!!. Came here for breakfast and it had great food and drinks. For two meals and some toast for our 1yo with two iced coffees only came to 35 bux! Was great sitting outside. The highchair was a bit yuck not cleaned properly. But other than that it was great! Will definitely come back again!

Delicious breakfast. Great prices. Had the muffin with hash browns. Delicious. poached egg was perfectly cooked n hollandaise sauce was delicious

Not great. I visited the Coffee Pot today and was bitterly disappointed. I had the salt and pepper calamari which in short was vile!!! Not worth the 30 minute wait. The calamari was so overcooked I could have used it as a bouncing ball. An elastic band would have tasted better!!! The batter over it was floury and soggy... Gross gross gross. The only redeeming factor was the amazing service from the bubble blonde woman at the front counter.

Nice setting, unappetising food. Came here on a really warm autumn day and it was very busy. Managed to get a table outside on the balcony where there are lovely views of the river and trees.
When we ordered the waitress told us there would be a half an hour wait as it was completely packed out, and we were okay with that.
Our drinks came out first and I got the banana smoothie which was probably the best banana smoothie I've had.. ever!
I had the chicken parma and it really wasn't very nice at all, nor was the salad. The chips were alright. The parma was overcooked and had a strange taste to it. There wasn't much cheese on there but there was a lot of sauce.
I suppose I'm still sitting on the fence with this one, but for now I give it a thumbs down for the food.

Long gone from its former glory. I've been frequenting the Coffee Pot for years, and i'm sorry to say that the place has significantly worsened as of late.
The service has become terrible, so much so that not even the beautiful balcony view can keep me coming back anymore.

Service at the Coffee Pot had been slackening for a while, but some time last year they hired an angsty blonde waitress who was so sulky and unpleasant that her presence has managed to keep me away from one of my former favourite haunts.
The Coffee Pot has a nice view from the back, but the food is overpriced, coffee isn't great and the service is worse.

Best cafe in the west. Visited this cafe today. Food, service and coffee was excellent.
Would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Sonja
Grease pot. Greasy food with less than average customer service.
Katiegirl
We used to go to the Coffee Pot whenever we felt like a quality, satisfying breakfast in the area. A recent visit has only confirmed what we suspected the couple visits prior, the service, food and atmosphere have all declined considerably. Don't think we'll be returning any time soon.
Kris
Great coffee, however i do have my favorite barista girl & cringe when i go in & see someone else making it, love map coffee. Never had a bad experience here.. Food is good, coffee is good, service is good.

This place use to be good, but not anymore, the staff are clueless, food is not great and overall the place looks dirty, it's unfortunate because the location with the deck backing onto the Werribee river is ideal for a great cafe... Ahhhhh what a miss... It's ashame!
Julia
It used to be an awesome restaurant. Beautifully cooked food using quality ingredients, such as free range eggs and thick slices of delicious sourdough bread. Now it's poor quality ingredients at the same price. The eggs are pale, watery and flavourless. The bread tastes like homebrand bread. My banana smoothie barely contained any banana. Our little gem out west is no longer :(

Previously have dined here without an issue, the vibe here has changed. No more happy staff and the menu is still the same *yawn* ordered a frappe which they should just call a warm milkshake as it was exactly that. Meals didn't come out together which is annoying when you actually want to eat at the same time as everyone else on your table. Too long of a break between getting a drink and breakfast. Won't be back again other better places in Werribee to enjoy

The coffee is really lovely and the atmosphere is cosy and perfect to retreat to on a cold day. I ordered the sticky date pudding which was served with cream and ice cream. It was really beautifully presented and tasted great! Definitely will come back here for a coffee and cake!
Jazzy
It used to be such an awesome cafe when it was fun by this guy years back but since then it's not the same.
Cassandra
Average old school food, average coffee.

Pleasant brunch with the birds on the deck. Lovely decking and good service. Large coffees are exactly that- served in large highball glasses/ tumblers. For the first time in my life I had Eggs Benedict at the Coffee Pot, they were lovely and soft- delicious.

My partner and I enjoyed our meals on the deck overlooking the river. We were accompanied by several magpies and sparrows (who helped themselves to plates of food left on another table by staff); the birds were as fascinated with us as we were with their antics.

Overall enjoyable experience.

My mother and I are visitors from Sydney. Went into the coffee pot on Saturday the 1st of December at about 3pm. When we first walked in we were ignored by two very unfriendly unhappy staff members two blond girls one with half her head shaved. They didn't welcome us or even acknowledge us. I went up the the blonde girl with half their head shaved asked if they were still serving lunch. She turned to her colleague asked her she answered no so she looked up at me and said no and looked down continuing what she was doing. Not providing any other information. Mum and I continued looking at some sandwiches in the cold display. Then the first girl said only cakes and coffee I then asked so not these sandwiches here? And she didn't answer me. So we decided on two toasted sandwiches as we were prepared to have a quick snack and surely it's not hard to wack them in the toasted when they really have nothing to do with the kitchen already prepared. The two employees ignored us untill we had to call for them. Then the other employee said. So, you decided? In an extremely rude manor. My mother then asked what were on the toasted sandwiches then this employee paused and said um we can't serve them. Kitchen is closed. So apparently it was too hard to put a sandwich in a toaster. Now irritated we left in shock. The cafe looked nice enough but the employees should not be working in that environment if they aren't going to be friendly , welcoming and helpful! I have described the employees because I myself work in hospitality and so I appreciate customer service but never in my life have I experienced such rude staff. I hope the owners read my review and have a serious chat to their staff as they are taking away from their business. Very dissapointing certainly won't ever bother going in there again when I return to werribee next year!!

In desperate need of a makeover!. I really do not like this cafe. I have eaten here a few times, and never have I been satisfied with my meal. The food is average. The service is average. They need to change their menu and add some new things.

Past experiences have been really good although it appears the place has significantly dropped it's standards. The food was good enough although other issues noted were:
1. After ordering food and drinks, once the drinks had brought to the table, I was told I had payed for a small when I had actually ordered a large and needed to pay the difference for their mistake. I've never come across paying for a waiters mistake before.
2. We waited 20 minutes for an egg, hash browns, although there was only one other couple eating in the restaurant. Then a further 10 minutes for a pre-prepared sandwich to be heated up, that had been forgotten about.
Upon approaching the kitchen staff and sharing the above experiences there was no apology except recognising the mistakes made.
3. After FINALLY receiving the meal/s, the waiter began sweeping under and around so that the dust and dirt particles went into our food and drink. Then proceeding to mop around us, is this proper business proceedures??? Will not be returning, very disappointed!

Dissapointed. Went to the Coffee Pot for breakie last weekend. The service was good I guess, considering all the staff were very young. But the food was definately not up to scratch. We both had poached eggs with our meals and they were like bullets. Probably won't be back there again.
Lou
Great breaky, great staff!. My husband and I are regulars for breakfast at the Coffee Pot! Great food, coffee and service keeps us going!

Third time for us!. Great food, service, coffee. Very happy, We'll be back.
Natasha
Great Coffee. Coffee is great. The new menu has great variety and the Schnitzel sandwich special is sooo good. Great view from the deck.

Horrible breakfast. A group of colleagues and myself attended the coffee pot recently to have our xmas breakfast, most of us ordered poached eggs with bacon. It was very disappointing, the eggs were not runny at all, no butter, the breakfast was so dry. One waitress was rude, and couldn't care less that she spilt coffee on the table from throwing the cup down so clumsily. Never ever go there again, save yourself the money, put a few dollars more and opt for another place.
Melanie
Keep walking.... Food is bland and average. Meals do not come out together. Staff are pretty dim. Pretty ordinary.

The Coffee Pot has a lovely.... The Coffee Pot has a great deck overlooking the Werribee River. It's lovely on a sunny morning. The regular menu has some good features, but it hasn't changed in years so it's getting a bit tired and boring for regular patrons. Needs a revamp. Overall though, good coffee, great Eggs Benedict, fabulous deck and family friendly.
