Review The Vault On Nelson - Williamstown

Andrew Purnama
Came pretty early, before 6pm on Saturday, only a few tables were occupied. Staff were professional, very friendly and attentive. Didn't have to wait long for our dishes to arrive. The cheese & garlic pita bread were very nice, it's soft but doesn't lose its shape, the cheese and garlic has a nice balance. The seafood platter were nice too, have a good combination of seafood, it would be perfect if it has less "fish and chips" though. The sticky date pudding was nice too, not too sweet, however some parts towards the bottom were a bit tough. Overall we enjoyed our experience here tonight.

Service was friendly. Food was below average. The waffles were just a large knot of undercooked dough. Presentation was a mess. Don't order them. Partner ordered pulled pork tortilla which, while technically was a pulled pork tortilla, it too was presented without care and tasted bland. It was covered in BBQ sauce to mask the low quality flavoured meat. Won't be back. Would give one star but service was good so bumped to two stars.

Amazing oysters, very fresh. The lamb rump was an excellent variety of flavours on one plate. Friendly & helpful staff. Atmosphere was also above par. All in all, recommend for a visit. Thanks!

Had a lovely lunch with my partner for our anniversary. The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful. Would highly recommend for any occasion

Good location. Way over priced gor the food served. Wedges were so black and burnt they were bitter, paella just was saffron rice with the most rubbery prawns and a few mussles & pippies on top. Sticky date pudding looked better than it tasted Ok for a coffee if you're walking past.

Awesome food and wholesome portions, def will return!

Very good brekky. They had a 2 for 1 deal today and it was a massive meal. Tasty and filling. Wonderful.

we had the best time on mothers day with our high tea booking. we were seated upstairs and the space looked so elegant and beautiful. the downstairs restaurant was completely full when we arrived and upstairs looked like it was fully booked too, to our surprise and benefit, this did not effect service or quality of food at all. the staff looked calm and organised and the scones and sandwiches were absolutely delicious!! when i looked around at the other tables, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we were. would definitely recommend this place to friends. great high tea, and great service with a smile. A+ to the team there. cant wait to come back and try the main menu!!!!

This was a surprise. We live locally and have walked past so many times. The menu has been revamped since we last really looked so we gave it a try. We will be back. The food was fantastic quality, beautifully presented and well priced. The seafood was so fresh! The wait staff are lovely. We stayed late and ended up chatting to the chef who is very passionate about good food and wine and willing to tailor the menu for events - even small ones. Will definitely book a high tea in the Vault dining room. It looks amazing.

Espresso martini's ... amazing!! Great venue and such a lovely outlook over the park and marina towards the city. Delicious food, fantastic atmosphere AND awesome staff!! It's now one of our fave local spots. Highly recommend

Great restaurant in Williamstown..we tried the steak and chicken parma...both were good especially the steak and the mash potatoes were exceptional. Huge servings. What stands out though was the staff... accommodating and friendly. Love that there is outdoor seating so we could dine with our dog after a walk.

Walking past the Vault after dinner one night, we met the chef out front! After hearing how he prepared the meals, we promised we’d be back and Saturday night was the night! The Vault did not disappoint - the chef and all the staff were brilliant! The meals were sensational! As locals (Newport), we’ll be back!

Such welcoming place great staff and amazing food. Will be back again

We caught up for dinner with another couple who live locally. The location and the historical building is beautiful with amazing views. Indoor or outdoor seating available, function room, semi private function area and extremely private "vault" room available for 12 people. Ambience was great, the staff were welcoming and the actual owners Tom and his wife took the time to ensure we were well looked after, they are great hosts. Later we were further impressed when the Chef Douglas McPheat took the time to come out for a chat. The menu was AMAZING. Everything on the menu was desirable, from the starters to the small plates to the large/main plate, I always flick over to desserts to mentally make a note if we should move on after our meal but I immediately knew we were certainly staying for dessert! We wanted to try so many dishes, so we chose a few to share and then ordered our own main meal. Calamari on avacado with watermelon, Prawn tacos, Dips platter consisted of incredibly tasty actual HOME MADE dips, olives, bread! I had grilled Barramundi, two others had the Grilled King Salmon, and one other ordered the lamb, all dishes were beautifully presented, the detail was incredible and exciting to the palette as well as the eye. The servings were generous and we were fine dining without blowing the budget. The restaurant is licensed and drinks are very reasonably priced. Desserts! All made in house with REAL CHOCOLATE, Actual Citrus, his "soil" is brilliant, all decadent and delightful, a wonderful end to an amazing meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to more visits, I have liked this page to learn of any upcoming events. In any case we will certainly be there for New Year's Eve, whatever Chef Douglas decides to present on the night I'm sure we won't be disappointed. Cheers.

We decided to go to the vault for lunch on a sunny weekend afternoon as some friends of our recommended it to us. We sat out front with a view of the park. When ordering our meals we asked a few questions about the menu and if the waiter had any recommendations. The young boy who served us was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended a few things that were the best and most ordered meals. On his recommendation we ordered the beef that comes out on a hot plate and the seafood pasta. The place was very busy and we could see why the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly even though it was busy the service was still very good. When clearing the table the waiter even asked what we thought of the food and if we enjoyed what he recommended to us. We will come back for sure the food is great and the young waiter we had was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu.

I had lunch here with my family on warm Sunday afternoon in early October. We were greeted by the very friendly host, shown to our table for six, and promptly given a wine list and menus. We ordered the seafood platter for four, the pork ribs and lobster spaghetti (from the specials menu). The seafood was definitely a highlight as well as the very welcoming and friendly staff. Will definitely return to The Vault next time we’re in Williamstown! Thanks for a lovely afternoon!

Went for.lunch and had burger for 12 dollars. It was very yami and nice and crispy fries. Very good customer service. Will be back for shore .

started by having someone standing at the other side of the door, said “open” but there was a weight stopped people from opening the door. <br/>got a $12 burger which was not enjoyable at all. $3.50 for a GLASS of coke, they don’t serve cans. <br/>the burger bun was stale, the chips were cold and hard and the salad in the burger was soggy. <br/>went to the toilet, had to climb about 24 steps before getting to the actual rest room, which was terrible, would restrict me from bringing my mum here with her bad hip. <br/>staff was friendly enough but hard to get him to come over. <br/>really disappointing, would not come here again

A friend and myself went in for lunch and ordered the porterhouse steak, the broccolini was cooked perfectly but we asked for medium rare steak and it was over done. There was absolutely no seasoning or flavour, and the pomme puree that it came with was lumpy, floury and flavourless. It was hard to get the staffs attention for water refills and simple things like salt and pepper. It didn't seem particularly busy that day. Over all, considering the price I'm disappointed. I will however return one day and give it another chance as everyone has their off days.

Me and my girlfriend came for dinner one evening and we loved the food I had the lamb shank and my girlfriend had the risotto. We was greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff he went through the menus and told us what menu was for what. The food came quite quickly and we had no complaints we was asked if we wanted desserts or coffee but we declined and we actually got talking to the guy who was looking after us as he was from England and we wondered how long he had been working there for. Gary was very good he always smiled and was very attentive and looked after us well he even let us have a look the the little Vault room and talked about when it was used. All in all good food and very good service. Thanks Gary the evening was brilliant

We happened to be in Williamstown today and decided to pop into the Vault. It was very busy for lunch thats what actually made us go in. The food was very good and the boy who served us was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. The only complaint we had was that we waited a while for our food then the girl took it to the wrong table. When we went to a member of staff to complain about this he was very good he made sure we got our food as soon as possible and was very apologetic. He said it would be the next table out and came within 5 mins. I'm not sure if he was the manager but he was brilliant with us even when we had a slight complaint he went out of his way to correct the problem. If you could say thankyou to your member of staff for his service I don't know his name but he had an English accent even with the food going to the wrong table he was very good in dealing with the problem

Lovely place , the best burger in town. Very good service staff, very welcome. Very busy time coming, service very fast, nice food and reasonalble price. Will b back with friends.

we happened to be at williamstown and decided to have dinner. after a quick search and reading the review,we decided to come to this place -the vault. we were soon greeted by the staff and they ate both very attentive and friendly. thee ambience is really good and they even have live band playing and singing in the restaurant. we ordered a main size beef rib and porterhouse. I can't say we enjoy our food. they both lack of seasoning. the mash that came with the porterhouse is very lumpy and grainy although the butter is really strong. the rib itself also pretty dry and not right in texture. the thing we really like is the fat chips and the Asian slaw.

Get the pulled pork rotti. Great value and delicious. Service ok. Location perfect. Loved it. Beer was cold too. Really enjoyed the ambience too

I rarely write negative reviews but the lunch my partner and I had there today is 1 of the most disappointing meals I have had in a very long time. This meal would have got zero ⭐️ if not for the fact that the waitstaff were attentive and the outside shady courtyard was lovely on a sunny day. <br/><br/>Unfortunately these are the only positives. My partner ordered the lamb rump and I ordered a pulled pork burger. While waiting for our meals we ordered some drinks. The soft drink was flat and my partner was given the wrong beer. We seemed to be waiting a long time for our meals but given it was Boxing Day I could make exception for this. It was only when the 3 groups of people who all arrived and ordered after us received their meals that I asked how much longer our food would be because my partner was ready to leave because we were both hungry. The waitstaff were apologetic and offered us a free drink. My partner declined this offer and I asked for a different soft drink that again was flat and warm. Our food eventually arrived and all would have been forgiven if our meals were ok. We had to go and find the waitstaff twice because the tin of utensils on our table was full of knives but no forks and then a 2nd time because no salt and pepper. Nothing on either of our plates was warm. My pulled pork would have been tasty but it was lukewarm. The chips that it was served with were inedible and you could tell that the whole plate of food had been sat waiting in the kitchen. My partners lamb rump ($26) was also only lukewarm and this was served with a few parsnips that were cold. The waitstaff we apologetic and offered to not charge us the Boxing Day surcharge and said they would not charge us for the pulled pork but the bill was still $50. After a hectic few days with Christmas my partner and I were there to enjoy a nice relaxing lunch and I actually can’t remember the last time we had such a bad meal. I am someone who never complains about a meal but we both left hungry and frustrated. I do feel bad for the wait staff because they were trying but the food and the way the kitchen get out the food orders was terrible. I was going to give this zero stars but really try to find the good.
Linda
Pros: the special for the day was soba noodle and baked salmon and boy.. what an enjoyable meal! Loved every bit of it. Flavours were definitely a hit and the dressing was light but seasoned well. The salmon was made amazingly well, skin crispy, salmon moist (so I can imagine the other fishes on the menu would be cooked well also). The honey glazed oysters was different and worth a try. The waygu burger had great flavours. Staff were very friendly and catering (one of the staff asked if my milkshake was sweet and if I wanted extra milk).<br/><br/>Cons: the waygu beef burger was dry.

We have lunch with friend yesterday.Staff are friendly, smiling and in good mood.food is delicious .I’d like to recommend the Vault on Nelson to my friends<br/>.
Whats On The Grill?
This place feels a bit understated from out the front but the food is of excellent quality. Large, old grandeur building with a quiet atmosphere (for lunch anyway). Had the lobster pasta and steak but would be confident all dishes would be great on the back of those two. Loved it.
Casey Davis
Had a wonderful and delectable dinner service! Very generous proportions of a tempura soft shell crab and beef short ribs! The sticky date pudding here is superb!
Graham Royden
This was a magnificent feed. The mussels with a tasty curry flavour as a starter then the slow cooked beef short rib was nothing less than delicious and calamari salad excellent. Don’t walk past this gem without giving them your patronage- you will not be sorry!! Service was superb, portions generous and generally a wonderful experience. We will be back. <br/>

SO happy with the food and service provided here today. My friends and I got a few drinks here and decided to eat here as well<br/>Thank you for a great dinner tonight. Really great start to our Friday night!

My family and I waited for 1 hour for a fish and chips and parma that never arrived. Terrible experience ...................................

My husband and I dined here on New Year’s Eve. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. The service was ok, being nye I guess they were busier then normal. The food was fine dining but generous. There were a few confusing items, like the steak sandwich special? Which really did not match the rest of the food menu and drinks specials which made the place seem casual. The venue is a beautiful old bank, however had some out of place casual shop features. The restaurant seemed confused between a fancy restaurant and a casual cafe. I’d like to see it more like a fancy restaurant and we’d definitely be back. We did enjoy our night.

Totally unexpected!  What looks like a typical pub grub venue surprises with mains and deserts.  The food was fine dining without the price tag and the pretense.  Tuna Yaki Nori style was suchi-like and superb.  Tempura Soft Shell Crab = Laksa without the broth was very well done.  But the best was to come - Wagon Wheel tart.  This was art, slightly deconstructed with edible flowers to boot. However, the apple crumble, panna cottar missed the mark; too big and too gelatinous.  Too add - staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the food and just right for attentiveness.  The also asked how the food was, which in my book is a sign they are genuinely interested it improving customer experience.
The Casual Diner
Came here for dinner, and ordered the Beef Carpaccio (delicious, fresh and satisfying), Soft Shell Crab (nicely battered and generous), Pork Belly (well cooked and seasoned), Baramundi (on the dry side and probably our least favourite dish). Also had the dessert shared platter (looked great, bit of a hit and miss with some of the cakes). Services was prompt and the waitress was lovely and friendly. Price was above average which was the only negative. Food was generous and tasty so not sure why the place was largely empty on a Friday night. Will be back!

Came here on Wednesday, didn't realise how good the place was and the food was amazing! We oedered tempura soft shell crab and crispy skin pork belly. All are delicious, large and incredibly well priced. Will continue to come here for sure.

The delicious food was incredible, service was great and overall, we had a fantastic experience here. We will definitely be back next time already craving the food 🤤😌

Had a group of 8 here and we booked out a room on the side to celebrate my 18th birthday- We were seated immediately and the friendly waitstaff were extremely nice, attentive, and helpful. As most of us were vegans and vegetarians, it was a little difficult to have a varied meal, but the chef (very friendly and kind) came out and arranged for our food. We ended up with a delicious and varied spread of foods, such as the stir fry egg noodle. As one of two of the non-vegetarians, I had the pork belly which was absolutely amazing and oozing with deliciousness, and I heard that the barramundi was especially good (thanks Greg Hopkins ). It was a quiet night, and the atmosphere was perfect for us. <br/><br/>Overall, a very attentive and helpful staff (especially the chef) and amazing food, and great atmosphere.
Greg Hopkins
I was here with a mate and a few other to celebrate his 18th and we had a ripper of a good time- food was great, chef was amazingly friendly and accommodating, especially for the grass eaters in the group lol loved it
Organic Cube
Amazing prawn cocktail. I would eat this breakfast lunch and dinner if I could. Enough said. <br/><br/>New menu featuring a prawn cocktail for entree Mains we had beef and bone, salmon and lamb ribs all very flavoursome and delicious. <br/>
Food
I recently had my daughters first birthday at the vault in the function room upstairs .<br/>Where do i start so many positive things to state! Firstly booking the venue, decor classical, beautiful and elegant. Upon booking Jing the manager was very informative and throughly explained the menue and options. We opted for finger food menu. The menu has been well sorted with a large variety of options to cater for all requirements, we had a variety of dietary requirements.<br/>The food it self was just amazing! The amount of food served and the quality was incredible! We had a team of staff serving food around with smiles and making conversation with our guests! The highlight was chef Douglas who came and spoke to our guests informing what was on offer and even serving food! Now thats service!<br/>The bar staff also had beaming smiles and very professional.<br/>Jing even catered for last minute changes to our set up.<br/>Overall we and our guests had an amazing time and couldn't thank you enough for making a memorable day a breeze for us.
Chrissa1968
Service very slow , apparently they had a large function upstairs Sunday lunch , restaurant was empty other than us ,only had one menu for all 3 of us to look at, toilets were filthy , food was not bad but not fantastic either , had to ask for coffee service was awful !
Elletee
Lovely three course meal on a coupon deal, with wine. I had the soft shell crab which came with a lovely green salad, then the salmon with a potato and seafood salad. We finished with sticky date pudding. Delicious. Although the serves appeared small, our tummy's were full and happy when we left. Lovely service and nice venue.
Nelz
Was very happy with dinner here! 100% recommend for quality food made with effort and lots of flavour. Staff was very, very nice and accomodating and made the dining experience very enjoyable. A lot of great items to choose from, slightly pricey, but definitely worth it!
Ninska123
It's a mix between Western & Asian foods on the menu. Had the salmon with a creamy sauce & dill, on a bed of "smashed" potatoes. The skin was nice and crispy, but other than that, nothing stood out. The sauce lacked salt and flavour.<br/>Didn't take any photos of the tofu dish, as it didn't look all that appealing. It was 2 large slabs of tofu covered in a very thick salty & sweet hoisin sauce with some winter style veggies. Probably too much salt was added. Maybe they thought it needed to be extra salty to work with the normally bland tofu, but it fell short this time.<br/>Service was great though. The food came out quickly and the waiter was attentive, did not fault the service!
Nick The Greek
Well set out in an old bank branch ..hence "The Vault". Good food on offer we had the Soft Shell Crab , Sashimi , Arancini and Croquettes. Followed by a perfectly cooked Eye Fillet. Wine list needs some work.
Daniel
With high ceilings, and classical music playing, this place is a good choice for quiet dinners. The chicken parmigiana had two sauces and one of the sauces was tonkatsu! The food was good, with very good service.
Shanmuga Prabhu
I was on a Day Cruise to Williamstown and spent the day exploring the place. Out of the many restaurants around this road I settled for The Vault. It was just a random choice. I ordered the Crispy fried Soft shell crab. It was served piping hot and tasted really good. Overall the food and service was good. I felt the cost to be a little on the higher side. Nevertheless, it was a good experience.
Rod Wilson
food was very good, service was fantastic, but the restaurant was freezing cold inside. we had to eat with our coats on. would dine there again but only if it was warmer inside
Nikki Ballard
We came last night for a birthday dinner with family. Fantastic food, reasonable prices, great building and good service, couldn't fault it!
Kayla Louise
Came here last night for a birthday dinner and everyone loved it!<br/>Delicious food, excellent presentation and big servings<br/>Excellent staff, very friendly, patient and go out of their way to help <br/>Really nice ambience <br/>10/10!!

Went here with my wife and son, and we had a perfect dinner. Amazing food, friendly staff, good port view and great value for money. Highly recommend! We'll definitely be back.
Kerri Nasreddine
Decided to go here last night! Enjoyed our meal. The oysters are amazing instead of opting for the trio of different flavours we asked just for Kilpatrick, which they were able to do. Mains I had the eye fillet, and my husband the Seafood pasta which he was impressed with!
Julia Gilbert
I came to Alexanders Williamstown for dinner with my family on Sunday. The staff was nice and friendly but the food was just OK and disappointing. One of our dishes was red eye fillet steak, the size and the depth of the steak was like the SMALL PANCAKE!! <br/>Will not go back again.
SILVIA SANTAMARIA
i went to Alexanders for dinner and it was great the food was fantastic nice portion sizes and great flavours, the oysters were amazing , the staff that attended us that evening were fantastic very friendly and attentive they were very kind to my children as well overall we had a fantastic experience and will definitely coming back

As a truly foodie in Melbourne like me and my friends, we already been to most popular or hidden restaurants in Melbourne, it was totally unexpected when we came here to try first diner, beautiful place with tasty food! Then we decided to hold our new year function here, it was definitely memorable night for all of us, thanks to the manager to help us to set the venue, and the food is super amazing, helpful stuff. It was my first time to organize a big function like this, it won't went that well without all the stuff's help! Really want say thank you again and definitely will come back often!

I went to Alexanders Williamstown with my family including two little children both are good eaters only when there are right food on the table. I ordered food they normally like and hoped this lunch could go smoothly.   When the food for them was ready, I had a try and relaxed as it was very nice that they would definitely enjoy.  The dish we all loved the most was the creamy garlic prawn platter which had the perfect combination of the natural beauty of the prawn itself and the human touch with cream and garlic to boost the flavor. <br/><br/>Staff members were very friendly and thoughtful.  They organised the serving in an efficient way to avoid unnecessary interruptions when we were chatting yet provided things at the right time.  <br/><br/>For good causal dinning at Williamstown, I will keep coming back and highly recommend others to have a visit.
WARREN JIANG
Beautiful setting, outstanding service and delicious food,I love it.<br/><br/>I have been to Alexanders Williamstown for two times, the staff is always friendly and provide excellent service. The seafood platter impressed me a lot, I think it is the best seafood I ever had so far!<br/><br/>Like the view on the second floor, very good place to hold a function.
Stepha
We had dinner in Alexander's last night. Just travelled from city to Williamstown for a different and enjoyable Valentine's day. <br/><br/>The deco was pretty attractive and kind of historical. Locals told us the building was once belonging to a famous bank in Melbourne. With roses and candles on tables, the restaurant stopped us. It seemed to be quite busy night for them at that time. The front staff were attentive and helpful. <br/><br/>We ordered a Valentine's special package and waited for a while for the food come out. Considering it was a busy night and we didn't book our table, the waiting time was reasonable for us. Must say that the seafood platter was a highlight. It really surprised us. It was a delightful dinner. We would probably come back if we have another chance to travel here in future.
Colin.leake
I can't comment on the food as service was so bad tonight, we never got to order.  Two very uninterested staff ignored us sitting down outside.  I ended up going in to ask for menus.  Only had one table inside and one out with patrons.<br/>We got the Menus with out so much as a 'hello', nothing stood out to us which was just as well as no one came out to ask if we even wanted a drink.<br/>We walked down to the Yacht Club Hotel and had a great pub style meal.
Abmis Oail
We came to this beautiful heritage building looking for a big dinner and we found the perfect place! The first time we came here with my family, we had the most amazing seafood platter (love the different types of oysters they had) and it was not to disappoint!! Dessert was a highlight as i love sticky date pudding and i also saw an alaskan bomb !! Will go back for that ASAP!
Gaz Baker
Had a bit of a strange experience. Food was overcooked, probably because it took 45 minutes to come out on a not overly busy night. The staff were apologetic to us about that however and offered us a complimentary drink, so there's that.

Great food! Great service! What more could you want..........................................................................................
Jimmy The Foodie
Came here for dinner, it was a nice experience. Great ambience in a historic building. The food is of a good standard, and very well priced ($19 for a chicken parma is very well priced in Williamstown, in a non-pub setting). The only downside is that the service was a little slow and not attentive enough. Oh the menu here needs updating...
Oz Susler
The food was very reasonably priced and fresh. All our dishes were delicious and staff were eager to please. Portions were generous. Will definitely go back soon.<br/>
Jay Contor
Similar sentiment to those before me, I felt like the food was of satisfactory quality and it was - for lack of better term - a "nice" experience. However, it was probably a little overpriced for the quality/portion size. Went there on a cold evening so sitting near the fireplace was certainly a winner, but the atmosphere was quite lacking and you felt like everything you said echoed and made for some awkward moments!
Tom McCubbin
We felt like the food was overpriced for what we got. That being said the parma flavour was good maybe too much sauce and garnish. The beer garden was nice and cool on a hot day but the service seemed like we were an inconvenience.
Lexie
The food was nice but it was overpriced for what you get.<br/>Nice decor but the whole restaurant was so loud it was hard to talk to anyone.<br/>The staff weren't as attentive as I would expect, considering we were 1 of only 3 tables at the time, they really only came past the table once and we had to call them over a couple of times.
Aprail Siblagan
Went in hoping for a good meal, instead recieved extremely bad service, we waited to be seated, except after 5 minutes we were not and sat ourselves, we waited to order, except after 10 minutes we were not. It was not a busy time there maybe only 3 open tables, and we were constantly ignored even after i personally went up to the counter to ask for service. No one came and so we walked out. Worst place to even try to order a meal.
Leah
Worst Restaurent I've ever been to. <br/>Service was bad, food was even worse and the atmosphere was not engaging in the slightest.<br/>Meals were over priced for the quality and quantity received and our waitress was rude and had no concept of customer service.<br/>Will never go back.<br/>
Occasionalist
We came here by accident. Yes, by accident. We were intending to go to the souvlaki place around the corner but walked right past it and into a pretty ornate, bordering on gaudy, building. <br/><br/>After our initial disappointment of not actually being in the restaurant that we originally wanted to be in (and we also felt too rude to walk out) ... Our expectations were pretty low. But I was pleasantly surprised by what they had on offer. We had the following:<br/>1) Mussels. Big plate of 20-25 mussels topped with plenty of tomato sauce and cheese. I couldn't quite pinpoint the cheese ... It was like a cross between feta and goats cheese. Maybe it was both! Anyway it was yummy and exactly what I wanted. 4/5<br/>2) Duck salad. It was unexpectedly flavoursome and the poached egg on top? Bonus! Very well done. 5/5<br/><br/>The only down thing is the service, which was a bit slow. And it wasn't even all that busy when we went so I guess it's just a slow, slow place. 3/5 for the service.
Shimmering_blue
We went here for dinner last night (Saturday) on a voucher, which can often lower expectations - however there was absolutely no need. From the moment we walked in we were expertly waited on, staff efficient and friendly. Our voucher was for a seafood platter and bottle of wine. The wine on offer wasn't to our liking, so we chose off the menu and paid the difference - no problem. The seafood platter arrived in due course, and was a wonderful array of grilled prawns and Moreton bay bugs, seared calamari, tempura barramundi, grilled salmon and expertly cooked chips and a refreshing garden salad. It was absolutely divine and more than what 2 people could reasonably eat - very generous. We later shared a sticky date pudding - delicious- and ended with coffee and a glass each of botrytis. A lovely meal and good ambience on a cold Melbourne night - the open fire in the front room a welcoming addition. We will definitely come back - voucher or not.
Anna
Not a great experience here, stuff rude - seems like an inconvenience to ask for anything and the serving sizes are stingy.  Plenty of other options in Williamstown that are much better than this.
Phoebe
Great food, we had a few sharing platters.... the seafood one being the standout. Freshest oysters I've had in a long time! And great customer service, our waiter was so lovely and extremely helpful. Will be returning for sure.
Kativa
Great meal. Excellent value. Lovely ambient restuarant... Friendly staff. Will def. return again. Great for kids too.

Phone service. Rang up the place the other day to enquire about bookings, the girl on the phone was very inexperienced and immature. The girl was rude over the phone, I wasn't aware of their 24hr booking rule, I was told off for it with no explanation. Wouldn't go there purely because of this.
Leah Michelle
I ate here with my partner on good Friday. Nothing else was open except for brekkie cafes and a few pubs due to the public holiday. We ordered the muscles and the arancini salad. Food was super fresh, tasty and well presented. There was heaps of room for the pram and the service was prompt, friendly and warm. We will definitely be coming back here with a group of people
Betty Boo
Pathetic service. Very disappointed. Girls supposedly very busy but all sitting behind bar. Orders all wrong. No drinks brought. Finally got our food ages later with no cutlery
Marcello
Had a wonderful experience recently here we hired out the whole private dining for my wife's birthday ... WOW thank you again for providing what was promised - exceptional service, real food that still has the family talking about and a perfect atmosphere to enjoy - love the building with so much history & impressed with the staffs knowledge and love of the place ! The current owners are exceeding expectations in the area as all the other places we have tried are a total disappointment . I had the marinara and it was cooked to perfection with fresh seafood & REAL pasta ! Other favourites amongst family in the night were pork belly & duck risottos are a must to try from my wife ! The Chef treated my wife to a special birthday surprise which was very impressive and the whole experience will have us booking all our future functions with you - thanks again ! And a special mention to our waitress with the top knot that my daughter keeps trying to replicate at home :-) cheers

What a delight. Last Friday, March 27, family and friends celebrated at Alexanders in Williamstown. Everything was amazing and as my guests arrived, their look of surprise was a delight to behold. As the evening progressed and we were served our meal, the delight and surprise continued. I had chosen well. The service, the attention to detail and the beautiful food made the night a wonderful experience. There were eighteen of us and prior to our arrival, I had been concerned that we would be in for a wait, but that was not to be. We were seated<br/>in one of the private rooms that was so beautifully and tastefully decorated. The finishing touches were lovely. This restaurant cares about its people and its staff. The head chef came in to greet us and I knew I had found something special. Many of the guests couldn't wait to return. I felt the same. As I walked out, I turned for one last look. it was a night to remember.

Alexanders - special birthday in function room - beware if you are considering using this venue.. Held a special party in upstairs function room. 60 very easy to get along with guests, all of mature age. The promises made were not delivered. Food was good but the service was appalling and non existent with the most unfriendly bar staff. My guest had to hand food around! Uneaten food was taken back to the kitchen and not served. Tried to take this up with the owners but they were in denial as her mother was the rude, unfriendly staff member. Instead of taking my constructive feedback on board they proceeded to criticise my GUEST! Never had such a bad experience. To top it off, they have still not provided a detailed bar bill. Beware of Alexanders.

Delicious. My husband and I stopped here for lunch today after a long cycle. I had one of the best linguine marinara I have ever had. The waitress was lovely and kept topping up our iced water. We will definitely return.

Never even knew this place existed, wish I still didn't.

Alexanders Williamstown offers fine casual dining with good view, great service and fresh seafood. An awesome combination that will bring me back to try the rest on the menu with no regrets.

Small family gathering. Went here tonight with my husband, daughter and son in law, really as a last minute option! So glad we did! Fabulous food, wonderful friendly service, and the price is spot on! Do yourself a favour and order the bug risotto! Nothing like the risotto that you would expect, except the creamy, delicious, champagne and pea infused rice is heavenly....and on top, sit three perfectly barbecued bugs, which are cooked to perfection!! Yummy! Everyone said that their meal was not only delightful, but it was all cooked to perfection! Congratulations Alex and team, you guys are doing a great job! Will definitely be back, God willing!

Nice food. Good service.. Enjoyed the chicken parma a lot. Nice thick chicken, fresh salad. Chips were nice too.

We had our wedding reception at Alexanders in November and could not be happier with how everything went. Hayley & Alex did an amazing job! The food was divine & the atmosphere was gorgeous! Everything ran like clockwork. The kind, attentive, personalised service at this restaurant is by far the best I have encountered. Truly excellent venue for food, service, & functions!!!

Popped in with my mum for a late lunch. The place is a little obscure really, with nothing much visibly alluring from the outside. A few tables and chairs on the street; common for the sidewalk cafes along the strip, and a single door entry. It's true character and charm aren't revealed until u step inside. What a charming little gem of a place this really is! It's apparent early life was as a bank, and the proprietors have cleverly transformed the old vault into a private dining area for approximately 10 guests (from memory). Mum loves her chicken parmas, and we almost stepped into a less inviting place where they had the lunchtime specials at $12. Persuading mum to look a little further, we stumbled into Alexander's where the lunchtime special was $15. I was stunned at the quantity and quality of the meals at this price! Presentation of the food was fantastic as well. I rarely take a photo of a meal, but for this one l had to :) Such was my surprise at the quality for this price. I've eaten at a few places in this area, including the one I persuaded mum to move on from. So glad I walked into Alexander's and it's now on the list of faves, even though I've not been a second time as yet. Seriously great value for a lunch time special, in a lovely little place. Taste was just as good as the presentation I might add.

Pleasantly surprised. I dined here with my mum and my partner on a Friday night. We started with the dips which were delicious, but could have done with a little more bread, or even the option to order more and half the dips were left and no more bread. The mains were absolutely delicious, I had the calamari salad, but the real winning dishes were the pork belly, not too fatty at all and the delicious prawn linguine that I will return for. We also had the beans with feta which was also yummy - we all left feeling very full. I felt the service was of good standard, but some of the staff member's could do with some extra training. <br/>Thanks for a great meal.

Really great food and backed up with really great service too! They notified us that food might take awhile due to big group booking and we don't mind waiting but they give us complimentary pita bread & dips. The wait was not that long anyway. Then the head chef himself came out to apologize for the wait, what a great service all around! The food, Chicken breast cous cous is perfect and can't get enough of chips and aioli. GREAT!!

Over priced for nothing special. Staff need to work on their communication skills too.

Love love loved Alexander's. <br/>I had my 40th birthday here on Sat 15th March in the small room off the main restaurant which was perfect. Private but still part of the restaurant. The staff were absolutely amazing & so helpful. <br/>The food is amazing & my guests agreed. I have been a few times & never been disappointed yet. <br/>So sweet that staff even placed a candle in my birthday cake where I forgot. "Thank you"!! <br/>I just hope the storm damage (not affecting main restaurants) was fixable. This is a great restaurant. Lovely atmosphere & decor with very helpful, friendly & attentive staff. I highly recommend.

Great seafood platter. I dined here recently, having bought a voucher for a seafood platter for two and wine each. The seafood platter was delicious, especially the prawns! It tasted extremely fresh, and come out very speedily (we were in and out in of the restaurant 45mins). I generally do prefer to have a more leisurely meal, but for the price paid, definitely cannot complain. We also received complimentary bread with oil and balsamic, which was a nice touch. Only other thing to mention was the serving staff seemed very young, and seemed quite green (had to flag them down repeatedly for a water refill). I would definitely dine here again, perhaps not pay full price for the seafood platter, but they had lots of other delicious sounding options.

Me and my partner were there just today for a seafood platter with a group on voture. The whole seafood had been cooked beautifully and the platter was quit big. Nice place and lovely staff. Highly recommended!

Dinner review 14th feb. Terrible service took 15 minutes to bring out a drink, the place wasn't even that busy.<br/>The staff had no idea which tables they were looking after even though they are numbered. <br/>Food was ok , but after service like that theres no way we would be returning.

Service was very poor the second time at the restaurant ! I had to ask where was our drinks after 40 min then 10 min later to tell me that the drink I had asked for had run out . Food was Luke warm ! Wait stuff was very poor ! They need to manage stuff and service in individual rooms better not just in the 1 location ( outside) I could've done better ! Never again

Fabulous. Beautiful food, beautiful staff and very quick service. The chef even came out to ask how our meals were which is very professional. The premisses itself is set out beautifully and everything is very clean and tidy. I have been there several times and tell all my friends about it. 10/10! Best in Williamstown :)

Service was warm, welcoming and incredibly attentive, seafood platter was divine. We had platters to feed 8 people and it was completely satisfying. Would definitely go back again and recommend.

The service was wonderful. The coffee was good. The lamb as a main for lunch was tasty. The calamari salad was not as enjoyable, a little bland. However, was overall a very good dining experience.

Good Egg. If this restaurant was an egg it would be a very good egg.

If you like expensive, small portions on large plates then come to Alexanders Williamstown.<br/><br/>If you like waiting over 45 minutes for your meal, come to Alexanders Williamstown.<br/><br/>If you like good looking but bland food, come to Alexanders Williamstown.<br/><br/>Alexanders is in a beautiful looking building. Our main waitress was friendly & helpful. Her assistant didn't even know how to put drinks on the table.<br/><br/>I ordered the Chicken Parma, only because I refuse to pay $30+ for meals that don't fill you up. Seriously, I wish I had eaten before I came. While the parma was nice, it was no better than a $15 parma from a local pub. My wife had the linguini - it was bland, a really small portion, & all you could taste was the chili.<br/><br/>Really disappointed. Really.<br/><br/>If you're the kind of person who doesn't care how much things cost, nor whether you get bang for your buck, you'll love it. For those of us who work hard for our money, save it & go somewhere like Mrs Parma in the city - a place that understands quality and bang for the buck.

Waited over 50 minutes for 2 calamari salads when it wasn't even busy. When the food finally arrived it looked great, but I feel cardboard would have had more flavour than what I was served! I was expecting much more for the $75 the lunch cost me! <br/>We also asked for table water at least 3 times and it never came. <br/>When we went to pay I mentioned how disappointing our meals were to the male waiter with glasses. He didn't even apologise, merely dismissed us and muttered that he would mention it to the chef. <br/>Also, their table numbers are stupid. They take up way too much room on the table, couldn't even fit our plates. <br/>Alexander's... Don't bother!!!

For a groupon deal, it's pretty worth it and service was still good although we're on a deal! Food was great, the fish's batter could be inproved though but overall pleasant experience.

My partner and I had lunch there today. We ordered the Seafood Platter, very nice, the staff were very prompt and attentive.

Visited for lunch with a groupon voucher for a seafood platter. Was sceptical on the size of the platter before we went but pleasantly surprised on both the quantity and quality of the seafood. Will definitely go back.

Been here on numerous occasions - always greeted with a smile, food is great and the drinks list is extensive. The seafood is very fresh and the steak is delicious! The outside couches are a great spot to sit in the afternoon as the weather gets warmer.

Ate here this afternoon for the first time (3 adults and 1 child), and was blown away by food, pricey than the rest of the strip but worth it. We ate oysters, pork/scallops, duck risotto and seafood marinara, the seafood was so fresh and tasty and portion sizes were great a side of chips was ordered but not really required. We will definitely be back! Service was attentive and friendly! Thanks

Seafoods platter. We dined last night at Alexander's. Well, I am disappointed. First of all they had no booking for us but were able to squeeze us in. We had a groupon voucher for the seafood platter which we handed to the waiter on arrival. A waitress came with menus... We told her we had the seafood platter deals so wouldn't need them. That was at 7:05pm. At 7:35 they realised we were still sitting there and the order had not been put though. Ignored by staff, given some lukewarm water to drink.. Yuk! Seafood was beautiful when it arrived and was worth the wait. But Alexanders...... Seriously... Improve the service or you will have no customers. I for one will not return until I start reading some really good reviews.

Has a voucher for a seafood voucher for four people supposedly worth $272... And sadly walk away disappointed. Both our table & the party of four next door had to clarify with the staff whether there was another seafood platter to come once we received what we though was one platter for two... Small portion sizes but nicely cooked & good flavours. Luckily we had ordered some additional entrees & a main for a fifth guest. Grazer plate also disappointing along with lack of service. We really hoped it would be amazing but it fell well short.

Romantic & Delicious!. Went here last night for me and my boyfriend's anniversary with a groupon voucher for a seafood platter for 2 and a glass of house red or white. First of all, we were seated next to the fire place which added the perfect setting for our romantic dinner. It was a cold Melbourne night so the fireplace added a nice touch. We decided to start off with an entre, we ordered the peaking duck rice paper rolls which were amazing!!!! I highly recommend!! Then came out the main course ....the seafood platter!! I have to say as far as seafood platters go and considering how much i paid for the voucher, it was definitely worth the value!! The seafood was super fresh.. the oysters and scallops were amazing!! I highly recommend this voucher to everyone. You won't go home disappointed! Thank you Alexanders for a great night.
