Review Sangam Tandoori - Williamstown

It is our first time dining in this restaurant We where the only two people dining in this restaurant. I ordered mango lasi for drink Entree was really good However mains were not the best I've tried . Only major problem i had was flies hovering around our food and drink. It was at the end that i realized those insects into my drink after i almost finished it. I did showed the staff before i go she felt sorry .hope i wont get poisoned.this place needs refurbishment and need to take care of those insects.

Located in pleasant area, this place is good for a nice evening. Ambiance is nice with friendly staff. In arrival they will bring papadums with dips. Nanns breads are the best. They are so soft and tasty. One of the best naans ever had. Shahi panner is delicious. Tandoor items and butter chicken are best for chicken lovers. Don’t go for biryanis. Try naans and curries. The combination of curry and naans are delicious. After dinner, a small walk in the locality gives the perfect night. Definitely coming back.

I want to give them a solid 5 stars because their food is great and the on-site staff are friendly and helpful. But I gotta knock off a couple of stars due to the same experience each time we risk delivery. If you are going to order take out, do pick-up. The delivery is unreliable at best, and has been late by up to an hour each time, with no explanation given. Unfortunate as otherwise the place is great.
GARRY PUNIA CAM
This is solid 5-star restaurant with excellent taste and amazing spot for great evening.
Purple Omelette
5 star food and service - excellent curries, and the naans in particular are superb. Loses 1 star for ambiance (the restauarnt is very clearly a converted 2 storey house), but still our favourite Indian restaurant by far. Would definitely recommend.

Located in the quiet suburb of Williamstown, this place serves good North Indian cuisines. The ambience was a bit dull but that's because you won't find much people visiting the place. Food is good though I was not sure why the Malai Chicken Tikka didn't have the essence of Malai on it. It seemed like just a normal Chicken Tikka. The Chicken Butter cream was really good and the Kashmiri Pulao was okay.

The food here is just incredible! The flavours are amazing and if you order the banquet, like we did, you get to try so many different dishes. Service is friendly, though not timely sometimes... but we were upstairs and a large group, so it was more understandable. We ordered Banquet C for 8 people... There was so much food left over, we took five full takeaway containers home. The entree was a plate each! Lunch the next day was awesome! Definitely go here if you're in Williamstown!

Been here a few times in the past and never seems to disappoint even on the busiest nights. Dined here last night during a busy NYE. There were some minor issues with the power that affected the entire street of which the staff were extremely apologetic and stressed about even though it was beyond their control. This however didn't stop them from continuing to provide the best customer service and Food. We ordered the Dahl, a potato and eggplant curry and a lamb curry and were all delicious with their fluffy Naan and rice. Definitely recommend!

Delicious food, great atmosphere, ordered the Malai kofta and tandoori chicken and it was amazing. Service was great, really enjoyed this place.

Delicious Indian food.
Great service and the ladies working there very friendly and welcoming. I always go to this restaurant with my toddler and the ladies treat us really good and friendly. Thanks

The food at Sangam is A1! We ordered banquet C and it was super filling and even ended up with a take home bag!
The tandoori chicken was divine (must try).
Service could be better. Forgotten drinks and slow service.
Will definitely be back though. The food is too good not to.

It was a Saturday evening trip to Williamstown with no set agenda for dinner and spur of the moment to try this place, that I had driven by many times before.

It was rather packed and we were offered a seat in the upstairs area, which consisted of a bedroom size room with two long tables and one two seater table.
It was like eating in a private room, until 3/4 of the way through the two other groups came. But no issues, I have ability to block other noises out.

To the food.
Overall - good - great tasting Indian, up there with the best.
Entree: Tandoori bites- rated.
Main: Butter chocken ( called it something else): A great tasting dish, very smooth and sweet. Second best butter chicken I have ever tasted.

Summary: Well worth the visit.

The food came out super fast, loved the vindaloo, but meat was slightly dry, sauce was great. Ordered the yoghurt and naan, went with it perfectly -a great winter dish. 4 stars

Sangam is a surprise packet, the staff there are absolutely lovely and the food is very good quality. We ordered the Butter Chicken & Tikka Masala and requested they both be hot, and much to our amazement, it really packed a punch (a lot of places go easy when you ask for spicy). Saffron & garlic naan were both tasty and accompanied the dishes very well.

If you're a dessert lover, make sure you try the Kulfi Pista, a beautiful pistachio ice cream with saffron, cardamon and rose syrup! Recommended.

Ordered takeaway from Sangam Tandoori many times over 4 years and never disappoints, we like the palek paneer and friendly quick service this is our favorite Indian and go to when we order takeaway... we enjoyed it alot better than Mishra's in Yarraville but thats just us, I guess with Indian it depends what dishes you like each venue seems to have its highlights.
Sexyfoodscientist92
Execellent food and customer service! Food came out fast; it was hot (temp-wise) and awesomely authentic. Even better was the fact that the portion sizes were generous, none of this heaps of sauce and little meat crap. Buttered chicken was to die for. Will most certainly be back again...if anything the dining room was a bit cramped for three males over 6 foot haha

Decided to order take away from Sangam Tandoori on a Saturday night. Delivery was really fast and food tasted great, however we were a bit disappointed with the portion size. It's not as generous as most other indian restaurants. I'm glad to have chosen this restaurant that night, splendid night in with some good food and wine. Will definitely visit the restaurant next time!

Have been coming here for years. Cant fault it! Lovely waitresses, fast service and best indian food. My partner and I always come here and get the exact same thing. We are never disappointed. Couldnt recommend them more

Good Value, Great Service. Went here as a big group. The service from the young waitress we had was top notch. She was very accommodating with our different party members & age groups. The food was tasty & great value. Good job Sangam Tandoori.

Amazing food and great service!. Visited Sangam Tandoori for the first time the other night and I had an absolutely wonderful time.
Despite the restaurant being very busy, my friend and I didn't feel rushed at all. The waitresses were very lovely with smiles on their faces.
My friend and I both ordered the butter chicken and it was probably the best butter chicken I have ever had anywhere! And my friend has only ever had Indian once in her life as she was never keen to try it, but she absolutely loved it and can't wait to return.
I give this place 5/5 and I highly recommend it :)

Average food, too expensive for the quality of the food produced

Great food. Friendly staff, great food especially the naan and butter chicken. Price is suitable for serving sizes

Good food but service is terrible with lies galore. VERY unhappy! After receiving a flyer in our letterbox this week we decided to order from this restaurant. They have a 10% off when you pick up, we tried to call to order but the phone was engaged so instead ordered online. When we picked our food up we were rudely told the 10% discount does not apply as we ordered online. No where on their website or flyer did it state online orders were exempt from this offer. We won't be going back on principal now

I love that they have vegan options, thanks guys!

Awesome food and lovely staff. favourite is their shai korma - yummo.

Best Indian around.... This Indian is by far the best around, been here probably 10 times or more now since moving to Newport Williamstown from Brisbane and I have to say I have never been let down here. The Chicken Saag has to be the best dish on the menu, along with the Tandoori Chicken. My parents visited and said this was the best Tandoori chicken they have ever tasted, I had to agree. We have had both Takeaway, Delivery, and eaten in the restaurant and the service has always been good. The young girl that works here I think is the owners daughter, she always stops to talk to my wife and I and she has great customer service, this girl does justice to this place. All other staff area always friendly and smiling when we arrive. If your thinking of an indian takeaway or meal tonight.. GO HERE!

Scott & Carly

Great curry but forget the breads. Really enjoyed the Vindaloo and Korma but the breads were limp and dull .
Generally I've liked it the two times I've ordered take away, but forget the breads .

The tandoori starters were great and good service with ubiquitous poppadoms to keep us going although unfortunately the second basket were burnt. Veg curry was good but badly let down by an unrecognisable chicken madras (and I've had many in the Balti houses of the midlands, UK) it was creamy and sweet, more like a korma - no resemblance even to a store bought jar of madras. Can't fault the service and good atmosphere of a cheap curry house but won't be returning here for something spicy!

Bubbly-Bob. Sangam is one of our locals, and it is one of the best! Been around a long time, and there is a reason why - its fantastic - its one of my families favourites! And all the locals dine there! The free-bee papadams and dips are great starter, its a BYO with corkage which is reasonably priced! Im a vego and their Samosas are the best around, let alone the spinach paneer! My husband and boys gobble down the tandoori chops....like its their last meal! We dined there on Tuesday with a group of friends for a birthday, it didn't disappoint! Is that enough to convince you that Sangam Tandoori is worth a visit! If there is only 4 of you, ask to book the window table, it is really quaint! PS: The toilet facilities are not the best, but that is a usual for Williamstown, down the back halfway in the alley - just like the good ol' days!

Terrific. This is one of the best Indian places I've been to. Great prices and food. Depending on what you're after, you can get eye-watering curries or just mild but flavoursome ones. I love their chicken vindaloo while my bf loves their butter chicken. Their rices are amazing and fluffy. Always love the free papadums they serve once you're seated. Amazing Indian and no greasy aftereffects. Recommended.

Best Indian In The West. Since it opened and I first tried their food years ago I have returned time and time again. Whether you eat in or take away the food is always great quality. I have never been dissapointed and look forward to my next visit.

Yum. I dine here regularly. The service is always happy, friendly, and quick. The food is amazing; tasty, a good size, and quite cheap. I usually make slight adjustments to my order (eg. no garnish) and they always listen. My boyfriend and I dine here with entree and mains and pay just over $40 altogether. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended.... Went here with a group of friends and was really impressed with the food and the service. Possibly the best Indian I've ever eaten.

Malai kofta!. I've ordered take away from here on several occasions, and the food has always been fine. This time i ordered the Aloo gobi and The Malai kofta- both were excellent- but the kofta were just sensational! Thanks for a great dinner.

Beautiful authentic food, fantastic attentive service.. A true delight to have something so good located close to home!

Unhealthy food & rude service

I am surprised how they are still in Buisness -- no customer service & below average food ..

Hi , it was nice n quite environment but being an Indian in d India. Restaurant I felt I was not being treated well, which is common at most places. The westerners were being wished with a veryyyy big smile , and the waitress was going to their tables and asking how's everything n if they want something , but the only time someone came to our table was when taking order / after finishing f food, n that's it. I felt it was big rude.

Been there gazillion times and always great. We love this restaurant so much - over the last five years we have been back there more times than I can count! We often get take away but we've also eaten in the restaurant many times. I don't know what the bad reviewers are on about quite frankly, as the food has always been exceptional, sooo delicious and fresh, and the service has always been really really lovely. We've never been kept waiting on the takeaway, and every time we've eaten in they've been so sweet and attentive. Just the most fantastic indian restaurant I've ever been to and now that I know about it I wouldn't bother going anywhere else!

Delicious!. I went to Sangam Tandoori with a friend for dinner last night after she raved about their butter chicken. I am wheat intolerant, so eating out can be tricky, but there was absolutely no issue here. I advised the waitress of this at the start of the night and she was very knowledgeable as to what I could and couldn't eat. If she was unsure about a menu item, it was no hassle for her to check with the chef.
We ordered the mixed entree platter (which was adapted to gluten free with no issues) followed by pea & potato curry and butter chicken. The servings are modest but more than enough (we took some home) and TASTY! The butter chicken was certainly the star. We decided to go ahead and try dessert, the pistachio ice cream was a treat and a great finish to a delightful meal. At $65 total including extra bread and drinks, it was certainly value for money.
We ended up being there for over 2 hours as its such a cosy place, and at no point did we feel rushed or harassed by the staff, it was great! I would def recommend a meal here and cant wait to go back!!

Best Indian around. I love Sangam Tandoori. I've been there four times now and every time the food is fantastic. The people who wait there are lovely and the portion servings are perfect. Highly recommend the butter chicken, it's the best I've tried. Compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to, this is definitely my favourite.

Great Indian night out. A friend of mine kept raving about this place so I finally gave in and went with a group of mates despite living on the other side of the city. The trek was well worth it.
The curries were fresh and light, not acidic and heavy like many other curries I've tried in Melbourne. The naan was obscenely large (always a good thing) and the samosas were nice and crisp.
The waitresses were charming and sweet - with a great sense of humor - definitely a great night out was had by all. Will be going back.

What ever they are writing in the menu, They are not giving the same thing. I ordered a take away of butter chicken with naan couple of days back. That butter chicken got boiled chicken and there menu says they are using tandoori chicken, and naan wasnt even cooked properly. Disappointing !!!
Rama Krishna Kondur
The service here is very bad. I had paid for a banquet and the quality and quantity of the food was so crap. I would never go back to this restaurant again and not recommend this to any one.

SHOCKING!! Service was horrid, we ordered take away to be picked up. She kept us waiting for 45 minutes extra plus the original half an hour! We ended up leaving and getting a burger from up the road. This is the second time I have been unhappy with this place, NEVER again!

Food is good. Service is quite rude. 1. I was hungry and guests were running late. I asked for something the owner said I'll have to wait until all the guests arrive. I was paying the bill for everyone. 2. Owner/waiter came to take down the order. People started ordering entree and mains. She tells customers that she won't take main orders now and guest has to wait for a while. 3. I advised owner that she is pushing back at customers very rudely. She tells me that she has been working from 5pm and it is hard on her. 4. I tried to tell her that customers expect to be fed and served; not being told how they should order food. If there is a reason the order has to be done a particular way then she needs to explain why that has to be done rather than saying NO. 5. She does seem to have an attitude where she would talk over customer and not listen. She simply chooses not to hear things to improve. The food is good and probably that's the reason she can still run the shop. I really wanted her to take the feedback and improve. She refused to hear so here I am.

A Willie nice Indian. Thought we would have a motorbike ride to Williamstown and try the indian restaurant for the 1st time.

Luckily we booked since was fairly busy & had a few sittings whilst we were there too.

Had the Tandoori Platter for entree which came with 5 pieces and was very spicy & tasty. We were impressed straight away & looked forward to the rest.

For mains, we ordered the Fish Madras and the Lamb Do Pyaza together with rice and garlic naans. We usually order very hot and the meals were maybe not "really" hot but still spicy enough for us. The fish and it's curry sauce was very nice. The garlic naans were crisp and fresh and great to dip into the curry.
Service was ok and friendly.
Together with 2 beers and a lemonade, the whole thing cost only $71. They are licensed and BYO wine with corkage only $1.50.
We will come here again soon I hope. Enjoying a stroll down the street was a bonus especially since was a balmy night.
Parking for cars probably still remains an issue and take care because I believe the parking officers are out there fairly often. That was one reason why we rode parked on the footpath.

Fire in the belly doesn't miss a beat. The Indian here is amazing. Delicious filling food without the hefty price tag. The roti bread was worth a miss though.
Spaghetti Monster
Average curry with inconsistent spice levels. I ordered a 'hot' madras that had less spice and flavour than a 'mild' butter chicken. At $20 a dish this is pretty bad. I will not eat from here again.

Will stick to the Angaan in future, just like every other Indian food lover this side of the West Gate Bridge.

Williamstown, great location but the Nandos is the best restaurant in the entire place, and that's pretty average for a Nando's!
Fire In The Belly
As good as it gets. Always come back here whenever got the cravings for indian, does get quite busy so we normally get take away which for some reason you get 10% off the order, no complaints here. have never had a bad dish, regularly order the lamb rogan josh, chicken jalfrezy and plenty of garlic and plain naan to soak up the sauce. have to say the jalfrezy is a personal favourite love the combination of tomato, capsicum and onion and tender pieces of thigh chicken. never disappoints

As a big fan of Indian food I was excited when this place was recommended. It's not anything like I hoped for. The Saag was puréed rather than whole spinach and was too salty. The chicken in the Tikka Massala is not tikka how I know tikka and was overly smokey with not much flavour. The Mushroom Biryani was a slight saving grace but a bit too wet for my liking and the Kashmiri naan just tasted odd. If you are a Pom and looking for a taste of curries from England this is not it, I have given up looking for a truly authentic Indian. Try the curry house in Kingsville which the wife is a big fan of.

Great place. I have not eaten here in 10 years as I have been away, but this is my favourite indian restaurant and cant wait to see if nothing has changed.
This is the place the Indian Test cricket team comes to so I think that says something..

Excellent food, good quality meat, sauces tasty with good fresh herbs and spices. Rice very good. Nan not as good as the rest and kebab a bit too salty but otherwise definitely best curry in williamstown and one of the best meals of any type we've had in three years living here.
Red Rooster
D.A.GREGO. The best tandoori platter and veg biriyani i've had.The naan bread selection and curry selection is 2nd too none.By far the best cuury house in melbourne and i've tried more than 30 crap curry houses.
Dr Oyvind
Easily the best Indian in the Williamstown area. I especially recommend the Saag.
