Review Cafe Cirino - Williamstown

We rode to this cafe from Doreen. All of us loved the food and the coffee was divine. And the staff was super friendly. I'll be back

Went mid-week on a trip to Williamstown ànd stopped here for lunch. Italian cuisine with limited menu due to mid week at lunch time. Our food was nice, coffee Cool and the lemon tart could have had more taste, but that's how I like it. Pleasant staff. Pricing reflected the locality
Sarah
Great staff and authentic food, great coffees. Well done ladies!

Cafe Cirino has a nice atmosphere. I was with a group of 10 and we were offered the courtyard just for our group which was great for privacy while enjoying the outside breeze. The menu is your basic Italian menu - nothing too special - but half of us got seafood dishes which reportedly were very tasty. I myself had the Tagliatelle bolognese and my husband had the vegetarian risotto. They were both tasty but unfortunately mine was served a bit lukewarm. Service was friendly and accommodating though I have to say there were a couple of wait staff that seemed a bit out of their depth and one didn't take down our order for a bruschetta (entrée) so we didn't end up eating any entrées (ultimately not complaining though - the mains portion sizes are quite big). A nice laid back atmosphere

Lovely cakes and great coffee with friendly service. Nice outside seating area

Just lovely, it was kinda busy as we arrived, 10 AM on a Sunday (27/2/22) for brunch, looked for a menu, no menu, yep, no menu. Just order at the counter, now if there are "Zeppole" (Italian Doughnuts) on display by the register, just get one or two, (Zeppole are soooo good). Either, sit out the front and people watch or sit out the back with very little noise and relax with the Flora.

Cirino has loose leaf earl grey tea and a great outlook which is perfect for morning or afternoon tea, it is often frequented by local groups and bike riders in the mornings if you are after a table outdoors in the shade. Parking can be problematic on the weekends.

A popular Italian cafe with tasty food and coffee opposite the pier at Williamstown. One of the beauties of this venue is an indoor/outdoor room that can be booked for group sittings. I celebrated a significant birthday here with 10 adults and 9 kids, it suited us very well and would fit a few more people comfortably away from other customers. I would recommend this cafe/ restaurant for a casual coffee with friends or a small party.

Love the romantic Italian and English live music that created the ambience served with a bottle of Barossa Shiraz. The cheesecake and the rich apple cinnamon chocolate was a delight. Perfect for a Saturday night outing. Cozy outdoor garden and within walking distance to the pier.

Relaxed, friendly and fast service and good unpretentious food.

A fairly genuine Italian style Restaurant/Cate with a good selection of meals at reasonable prices!
I loved the size & taste of their gnocchi dish in tomato & basil sauce with mozzarella cheese!
The right size & price as well!
Loved it & will return!

Lovely owner. Good coffee and pastries but needs some work training staff. Service was slow and they mixed up our coffee orders. But they were nice about it and it has a lovely courtyard. I went for breakfast but the lunches looked better from what I could see.

Check with the locals ....

From what i can see this place is where the local Italian senior men hangout .... That's a great sign for a good coffee and I wasn't disappointed.

Coffee beans weren't from one of those boutique roaster, but Latte was well made and good.

Dinner at some night would be interesting in this place.

Thank you.

Came here for breakfast twice. If you are after a casual laid back atmosphere and casual meal this is the place to come to. Both times the service was excellent which is always pleasant with a wink and a nod and they bring out another coffee! We ordered poached eggs breakfast both days and it was very enjoyable. Cosy, quaint, friendly with good honest breakfast food. Would recommend to drop in if in the area.

Service is way below average. The guy who 'greeted' me today was arrogant and ignorant, my guess he is the 'senior' one. (A big contrast to the other one on duty) I suggest the owner should ask the one with awful attitude wants to work there, I haven't come across with someone like that for ages. I hope he doesn't get to damage the Cafe's reputation.

Went there on a Saturday night had a fantastic night great food and a fantastic atmosphere.
The Italian guy singing Dean Martin / Frank Sinatre type songs is great.
The staff are good fun all up a great night out.

Byron's Vanilla Slice Blog
Value for money: $5 (I think), average portion size 4/10 Overall score: 5/10. I had a vanilla slice here many years ago, but not the same as this. I don't think Cafe Cirino bake their own cakes on site, and on this evidence they use suppliers which might change from time to time. This slice wasn't fresh, but the creamy custard was tasty enough, but mainly run of the mill elements. At around $5 (no receipt given or prices on display) the product is well over priced. They do make a pretty decent ice coffee though!

Egg Benedict and a cappuccino is not bad for a Saturday morning ride.
Good ambiance and cafe friendly for cyclist and touring around Williamstown

Best coffee place in Williamstown.

You have to try the hot chocolate.

Parking on side street free

Service is more than good. They are friendly

Toilets clean

Haven't tried food yet. Soon.

Went here with friends a while ago. Quite a cosy place , friend had their hot chocolate , he quite like it and said it was really thick . Probably will go back again to try their other dishes.
Luke
Terrible food, dry chips (see photo) and the ravioli dish (see photo) looked like it came from the Coles refrigerated section. The ravioli dish was tiny and absolutely no effort into presentation, even a little garnish would have made the dish look 10x better. The service was terrible, staff had no interest in their jobs or serving customers, really disappointing experience, Uurggghh!!!
George
Really enjoyed breakfast here this morning. I love it when you add a hash brown for $3 and two come out! Food was really nice and servings above average. Great morning.

Expect average food and attitude when you visit. I have been here several times (always for breakfast or lunch) and can say the food is consistently standard and the service is consistently below average. Although better than the standard Nelson Place fare, be prepared to lower your expectations. Better options exist on Douglas Parade and Ferguson Street albeit without the water view.

Not a bad little place for breaky. Did not wait long for coffee or our meals which is always positive. Prices acceptable. Will have to pop by again to try out their range of sweets behind the glass cabinet. Decent coffee to match. Only recommendation would be to turn down the music on your speakers.

I love this place the food and coffee are great, seating both inside or outside really nice atmosphere. Only negative is service is a bit slow, but very friendly.

According to their listing in Zomato, Café Cirino is supposed to be open till 9pm daily.Last night( Sunday ), my wife & I travelled to Williamstown; we arrived about 6.45pm only to discover they were closed! We went there particularly to try their Loose-leaf Chai Tea, which my wife likes and because of the positive reviews they have received on Zamato. So much for Sunday night tea & coffee.

Terrible service. Arrived to a waitress who seemed almost puzzled as to what to do with customers. Drinks arrived up to five minutes apart. Food was laughable at best. And again arrived with huge waiting periods in between us. $16 for 6 pieces of ravioli that wasn't cooked properly. $17 for literally half a plate of gnocchi with jar sauce and grated tasty cheese on top. Honestly the worst restaurant I have been to for a long time.

Happy Mothers day. Today my family and i dined at cafe cirino for our Mothers day lunch. We arrived at midday, eager and ready to celebrate what should've been a happy occasion but unfortunately was ruined, thanks for this restaurant . After a long 2 and a half hour wait, sitting in a loud and crowded cafe we finally received our meals which were very below average considering how long we had to wait . The owner was unwelcoming to criticism and demonstrated little skill in customer service when he delivered us the bill, charging full price, corkage and all.

Very disappointing experience, will not be going back.

Mrs Henry. I had the pleasure of dining there last week .
Beautiful venue . Lovely and clean .
Very spacious and private . You could engage in a conversation and actually hear every word .
Delicious fresh food , generous servings and beautifully presented .
Service very good and friendly .
Cosy atmosphere . Finished up with a short black -I'm a fuss pot with coffee so this was the test .
A big tick from me.
The blend was delicious .
I will be back with friends . Can't wait to try the pasta and homemade gnocchi.
Wonderful italian restaurant guys .
Well worth a visit .

Dont waste your precious time. Ate here over the weekend and i don' t think i will be going back. Service was slow, then came the over priced pizza which had so much sauce it soaked the concrete slab ( dough base). Eventually they brought me the wrong bill, you can tell its an issue with management. i have not tried their coffee which others like but kindly walk past , maccas will be a better option.....

-----01 Mar, 2015-----

Slow Service. Very slow service, wih little acknowledgement of whats happening.

Poor Service. Waiting 10 mins for coffe while staff stand around talk. Not for me.

Awesome!! I don't understand why this place has such low ratings?? Pastas immaculate. Pizza spectacular very good quality ingredients, kind and funny wait staff.. Definitely will be coming back
Nudis_verbis
Classy service, generous serving and tasty!. I'm really surprised by such low rating of this Italian joint, it was the best Italian food I had. I had spaghetti marinara and it was flawless. On top of that the waiter was well trained in terms of serving wine, order of treating guests at the table and the side for serving - those little things can matter. We got checked regularly if we need anything else.
The only negative experience is that another waiter charged us for a bottle of wine we didn't order, but before I had a chance to say anything, he corrected his mistake.

Good!. The sun was shining, so we thought we'd head to nearby Williamstown for an impromptu lunch. This was the first place closest to where we'd parked that had an appealing menu, so we thought we'd give it a go. I have to admit expectations were low - many of the places on Nelson pde look good but often don't deliver - but Cirino was great!! I had a daily special of grilled salmon, chips and salad. Salmon owas cooked to perfection, chips were nothing spectacular but fine, salad was ok but could have done without the brown gloomy looking dressing ( next time I'll ask for no dressing!). My daughters pizza cooked to perfection and in accordance with her exacting standards, and my husbands spaghetti del mare filled with fresh pippis, calamari, prawns in a white wine sauce that he declared delicious. Very attentive service, great location, we will be back!

Fantastic service great food. We came for breakfast really decent prices overall great experience and will deff come back

Very slow and not friendly really. Place empty sitting for 10min with two girl standing around; I had to ask about ordering to be told that I had to order at the counter... Poor serivce! Not worth the money really

Great place for Sunday morning brunch. Bacon and eggs are excellent, but the cheesecake (it was for brunch!) was to die for!!!
We would give it a 9.5 on the Steele Cheesecake Rating System. It was as good as the Earthly Pleasures cheesecake, in Belgrave!!

Coffee was good and the fresh OJ was delicious !!!

Breakfast was ok. Prices were ok. I like the feel and decor. Staff had a bit of European "tude" which I kinda thinks adds to the place. End of the day, BRILLIANT COFFEE!
So who cares about the rest...

Can't go past Cafe Cirino. Coffee is great... have dined there one evening and found the food to be very reasonably priced and very nice meal... had a group out the back in the lovely courtyard for a birthday - incl a table of kids and adults - and the service was great - nothing was a problem and everyone enjoyed their meal! So happy to recommend it.

Just had breakfast here. Menu very bland if you don't want hollandaise sauce on everything. Wife had French toast and was very disappointed, not sure if the bread was even dipped in an egg mixture, then smothered in sour berry mix. 10 people in the shop and our coffee came out after food arrived. Not good! Very slow coffee service. Will try somewhere else next time.

Authentic Italian restaurant at its finest. I doubt there is any other place in willamstown that can produce quality Italian food at this caliber. Highly recomend.
Helena
Absolutely fantastic!! Highly recommend Morton bay bugs and prawns to share!! This place is a hidden treasure, I would ignore previous reviews as this place does not represent them on the night we ate there! Looking forward to our next visit!

Completely dire. We tried this place for breakfast this morning. Food arrived so fast and tasted so terrible that I can only think that it was all pre-cooked and sweltering in a bain marie.

We had asked that the bacon be crispy: if that is what they call crispy then I can only assume they usually serve it raw. Toast was cold and dry, scrambled eggs rubbery, hash browns and baked beans plainly no-name brand from the supermarket, tomato only half cooked, sausage all fat.

The French toast was edible but only because it was drowning in defrosted berries and sugar syrup. The coffee was very average and the hot chocolate too weak.

I can now understand why they require payment at the counter in advance: to prevent people served this kind of inedible dross from challenging the bill.

Never, ever, ever going back.

Had a beautiful meal at Cafe Cirino tonight, spaghetti with moreton bay bugs to die for. Dessert even better- the best crema catalana (Creme brûlée) I have ever tried. Service great and very helpful staff. I felt like I was in Italy. Best meal!

Very, very, very disappointed with my dining experience at Cafe Cirino. On a whim I decided to dine there a few nights ago, despite the fact that a friend of mine advised me that the owners are very rude to their patrons and that they purchase their pasta and pasta sauces from the local supermarket.
The meal itself was average, and I'd have to agree that it didn't at all taste 'fresh'. For what I was served, the price was quite unreasonable.
While this didn't overly concern me, it was the behaviour of the owner which left me completely unsettled. After what appeared like a tyrannical tirade to one of his workers in front of paying patrons, he got into an argument with a patron about the quality of the food. Once the patron left, a beer bottle cap was deliberately hurled by the owner into the direction the patron was walking.
I always try to keep open-minded over many things, but I couldn't believe my experience happened in an industry that is supposed to provide exceptional customer service.

I would definitely not recommend Cafe Cirino unless you're happy with unprofessional management and exaggerated prices.

Coffee cold, eggs over cooked and service shocking......not worth the effort in the review. Won't be back

1 meal ok, 2 disapointing. Went here last night with two girlfriends.
We all ordered pasta, the gnocchi was sickly, the mushroom pasta with a king prawn (otherwise known as small prawn), pasta with pear and a cured meat.
We clarified on the menu which said a king prawn, the lady's hand gesture implied that it was indeed a king prawn. This was no king prawn, but a small average size prawn. I've seen as big on a pizza.

Mine with the pear & cured meat was very good and my tiramasu was very tasty as well.

Just don't order the creme catalana - a running custard mush should not be served up.
The crepes were also dry and disappointing.

In all 1/3 meals were good, not sure that it was worth the $130 bill though.

Ripped off, take care!!. Checked the menu as we were looking for seafood and the owner 'kindly' offered a seafood pasta. As the lunch menu prices were all low ordered without checking the cost. What a mistake, $28 for a plate of store bought pasta in a basic sauce with very little seafood. At the time we thought it was ok for a cheap cafe lunch, then we got the bill. I thought it must of been a mistake, but no he had taken advantage of us not checking the price first. If you go to this restaurant be very careful and check prices and your bill. I would not recommend it and will never go there again.

Don't get the steak!! Tough cold old gristle, served extra blue when asked for medium rare! Sauce was oil and butter $38, won't be coming back!!

Yummy. Had the best breakfast here , and the coffee is the best coffee I have ever had in my life ! Great service too!

Disappointing experience. Rude owner and unclear BYO policy ruined our evening here for my Dad's birthday. As locals we've been here a number of times before (as a couple and with bigger groups) and never had the restrictive BYO policy imposed. Happy to pay the corkage fee but one bottle for 4 people doesn't go far. We weren't offered a wine list to buy wine from the restaurant. The owner was rude and argumentative which quickly changed our minds about staying for coffee and dessert. It's a shame as this was out favourite restaurant in Willie but after this experience we won't be back. Suggestion to the owner - Either you are a BYO restaurant and charge a decent corkage fee OR you are fully licensed. Lose the aggressive attitude because the food was actually quite good.

Great food and service. We had a birthday dinner for 7 people on a Saturday night. The food was excellent, and for Williamstown, the service was a very pleasant surprise: friendly, informative, polite and discreet. The ambience also a surprise- lots of space, very quiet, and heated. Will come back again.

Williamstown's little secret. When people ask me where to eat in Williamstown, I always say Cafe Cirino. I've eaten here many times in the last two years and I've never had a bad meal. Every dish is surprising, flavoursome and delicious. The service is always friendly and attentive. Good coffee and excellent tiramisu, too. For a slice of Italy in the western suburbs, you really cannot go past Cafe Cirino.

5 star prices; 2 star service. This place makes Fawlty Tours look efficient. Started off ok - given menus promptly and drinks arrived promptly. It took aprox 45 minute for bruschetta to appear. From time of ordering until delivering of main course - 2 hours. Food overpriced. Diners around us were also getting quite agitated at very, very slow service. Decided not to wait for desert as we couldn't be bothered sitting for another 2 hours. The restaurant was nowhere near full, so not sure why the delay. Asked for the bill, which was given fairly promptly, put credit card in and gave it to a waitress. 20 minutes later we're still waiting for it to come back so we go to the front counter where the man tries to give us another bill $100.00 above what our original bill was. Had to explain in very basic terms that we had already been given our bill and handed over a credit card and it had not come back. It was sitting there beside the cash register while he leant on the counter doing very little. Definitely wont be back.

This place has great coffee. Good toasties. Great staff. They just don't get their cake/ croissants right. Of course they need to toast them 'cause they are frozen!!!! What the?
Stephanie
Great pasta, authentic menu, lovely staff. The outdoor courtyard will be really nice in the summer. So happy they are open for dinner now.
