Review World Travel Food Bar - Wtf Bar - Williamstown

So glad I finally got to go to World Travel Food Bar in Williamstown! Only 12 weeks in business and already they had every table booked. Do yourself a favour and check it out. Nice change in style of restaurant where they change the menu to a new country every month... So you get to try some of the cuisine (food and drinks) from around the world, may looking at lovely photos of the country and listening to their music! Macedonian this month and it did not disappoint! Amazing staff, incredible food and came away with a few new bits of knowledge about the world... What more could you ask for?! Only problem is, if you like the food, it won't be there next month... Which means you'll just have to go back again this month! šŸ™„šŸ¤”šŸ¤£ Thanks WTFBar team... We had a wonderful night!

It's my first time here, we came by for lunch. Nicely decorated place, loved the slide shows of the world's iconic places. Trading hours: Closed on Monday and Tuesday Open 5.30pm til late Wed and Thurs Open 11.30am til late Fri to Sun. Express lunch menu, $15 items. Service is very friendly and split bill is accepted here, which is awesome and rare to see nowadays. 1.6% surcharge for credit card payment. My work friends ordered coke zero, but seem to have been served diet coke. It was poured out to a glass, just didn't taste as they expected. I ordered calamari, $17 from dinner menu, from the express lunch menu. Lightly battered calamari served with handful of salad, french fries, dusted with sweet paprika(?) salt, and lime mayo. Loved the salad and fries, calamari is quite tender. Serving size of the calamari is slightly less than I'm used to, e.g. hunky dory does a generous serving, for a dollar or so more. They are on Groupon, the world wide feast seems awesome though. Will definitely come back to try that out.

Enticed by the friendly staff, came in and shared a Bavarian meat plate for 2. Ate my weight in food, will definitely be coming back! Fun concept!

A contemporary global restaurant with great atmosphere, light show of world places, live music, world clocks and flags. We ordered Mediterranean share plate, chicken snitzel plate and falafel. All good dishes, we enjoyed a great night.

Too pricey. Food was ok nothing above expectations. The creme brulƩe with the vanilla icecream was the highlight

I've given this a 3 star as I was a little disappointed we used a Groupon voucher and ordered the Mediterranean platter, l had read the food was very fresh unfortunately a few potatoes tasted reheated and dips tasted like they were purchased, I was unable to taste any lemon on the potato's it would be better if the dips, calamari and cheese came out together so that the food that should be warm/hot were as I found the chicken and potato was the hottest l would recommend sitting towards the back if it's a windy day and the doors are open as anything floating in the air comes in, tables were clean and staff were friendly and attentive

It's a solid venue, when it's not busy you'll find a table for sure, staff are pretty friendly overall.

We have been here a few times and love their themed nights where they showcase a country for a month. Our favourite was Macedonian month! We loved the traditional Macedonian food that was served including the Muznic, the band was fantastic and they had a photo booth set up as well. The staff are always friendly and the service is quick. We have found that there prices are reasonable and portions are good. We will definitely visit again soon.

Well first time here, made a reservation for 7pm, got here right on time...been sitting here for let's see.......now it's 7:46pm and no one has approached us except the lady who came with some water as soon as we walked in.
Now if you don't hear the end of this in two weeks please check the obituaries for a middle aged man who died of hunger coz now am too hungry to look for other options and clearly we are sitting right next to the bar...

In a nutshell, ...will definitely not be coming back!!

Update!!
An older hostess/waitress came up and we expressed our dissatisfaction for having to wait almost an hour despite having a booking and being on time....only to be met with ā€well we are busy, and we didn't see you but if you waited that long you would have been better to go somewhere else ā€
And we that I got feeling back in my legs and we left without a word .

What a world we live in .
Save your money and heartache...go Maccas.

Alcohol came with frosted beer glasses - stock standard prices. The Groupon deal was amazing. Massive platter for 45 with dessert. The German - das ist gut - had really nice chicken schnitzel, sauerkraut was pretty rough though and tasted like vingeared cabbage :( The chocolate brownie was accompanied with ice cream and very tasty :)

Friendly service, very average venue & food. The night we dined here was a very rainy, very miserable Melbourne winter evening. There was no heating on in this very big building, that has large windows at the front. We were also seated right next to the front door, even though there were about 15 empty tables (was not busy at all the Friday night we went). When I asked to move away from the door as we were so cold, we were moved to somewhere ā€˜near the heaterā€™, which was a reverse cycle that was not on. Every single person in there was wearing their coat! Now for the food. We ordered the German platter as that seemed to have the best reviews. The best things on the platter were the chips & the schnitzel. Both were good, but so are chips shops at this. There was also a cabbage ā€˜saladā€™ which was literally shredded cabbage with some discs of pickles on top. No dressing. The pretzel wasnā€™t bad, & the gravy had little flavour. If Iā€™m going out for a meal, I do expect it to be better than what I can cook at home. This was like going to distant relatives house who are cheap with the heating & not the greatest cooks. Iā€™m giving it two stars instead of one as our waitress was nice.

We went here on a Sunday. Ordered the Mediterranean and American platter. Had to wait atleast over 1 hour to get the food. It was good. The American platter was the best. The service was poor. Lack of communication.

Potential to be great but still requires some work!

I recently visited WTF Bar for dinner with friends. I was really excited to try out this fairly new restaurant located right on Nelson Place.

I was explained that they change the cuisine fairly often. When we went, it was Macedonian.
You can opt for the set menu or order individual items by their selves.

I asked the waiter for assistance in deciding between the Pork Schnitzel and the Eggplant Schnitzel. He responded that the Eggplant receives a lot of praise from customers, so I trusted the recommendation and ordered the Eggplant Schnitzel.

My friends both ordered the Fish and Chips, which they were pleased with.

Unfortunately, I did not share the same experience. If Iā€™m being completely honest I couldnā€™t give a positive towards my meal. The eggplant and its crumbled outside created an unpleasant after taste in your mouth. The consistency perhaps did not work. The salad was mediocre and the chips were unseasoned, plain, on the soggier side. Itā€™s very rare that I leave a meal unfinished but I just wasnā€™t enjoying any of it.

When the waiter asked how it was, I was honest with him in a constructive manner. He appreciated the honesty and appeared to be really disappointed that the dish had not delivered to its potential. He offered us a drink to apologise.

I really hope that my dish was a rare exception to the quality as this restaurant has a lot of potential. The staff are friendly. The space is big and resembles a European eating hall.

Whilst I wouldnā€™t return any time soon - I wouldnā€™t discourage people from visiting themselves. The prices are fair and Iā€™m hoping in time, this restaurant will continue to improve in quality.

This is from a Maco family, sorry to say, we where invited here for a birthday party, food had no taste, very small portions, very expensive, very salty, we had to give out our cutlery to our friends & napkins, which was placed the other side of the table, live band was too noisy, will not return, for under $19, 1 plate had only 2 Pieces of food, couldn't taste cheese, with other blobs of food next to it. I nearly chucked up tasting 1 meal. My whole family will not return, good feedback 1 waitress is hhhhot.

also today a day later, we all have Diarrhea.
24/11/19
was In area, very slow service & food was freezing.

We visited here on Macedonian month in March. The food was perfect. Well cooked, extremely tasty and the service was fantastic. We purchased the 5 course banquet and food came out in a timely manner at well fitting intervals. I was so shocked with the quality of the food as they definitely mastered the Macedonian food. I would say itā€™s the best Macedonian food Iā€™ve had in Melbourne. Decent serving sizes and really well cooked. The only downfall cocktails were a little pricey and the glass size was tiny. Also loved the photo booth and live music. What a cool concept!

Hello. Imnikki
3.5

WTF Bar (World Travel Food, what did you think it stood for?) is a new-ish restaurant with an intriguing concept - different cuisine each month. We visited on the last day of December and what awaited us was a German feast of epic proportions.

We opted for the feasting menu and were treated to so much food that all of us ended up with leftovers to take home. Jumbo bretzels, German sausages and meats galore, and finishing off with desserts.

The soft bretzels were a promising start, and absolutely delicious dipped in cheese and slathered with butter. The sausages were meaty and juicy, with the kransky being my favourite.

After devouring all those sausages, and not to mention those carbs, we were all almost filled to the brim when we came face to face with the German meat platter. While the pork belly was undeniably moist, nothing else really stood out for me with this platter, save and except for the gravy - rich, smooth and so flavourful.

The sorbets were the better of the two desserts, as the apple strudel and chocolate cake were a tad dry. Regardless, I finished them all for the table as I do not believe in dessert wastage.

Our table of 8 was taken care of very well by the most charming and friendly waitress, and it was lots of fun chatting with her.

Everyone had a great night and at such excellent value, we will definitely be back to try out the next themed cuisine. I'm sure Timinmelbourne and Jojo Armani agrees!

3.5

I applaud the concept and ambition of bringing in a different themed menu each month based on countries around the world. Of course thereā€™s always that risk of being the jack of all trades, master of none, but obviously we are not going to be the judge of that as they are only still in the early stages of trading, kicking off with a German inspired menu.

Arriving as a group of 8, we went for the 5 course feast starting with some soft jumbo pretzels followed by a showcase of sausages. For mains it was a feast of schnitzels, pork belly, potatoes, gravy and vegetables. Last ones up were the desserts of chocolate sheet cake, apple strudel and sorbet.

The highlights of the entire feast were: the sausages with an honourable mention going to the kransky and bratwurst; the beefy and punchy gravy; and the refreshing sorbet. The rest werenā€™t necessarily shabby or anything along those lines, they just didnā€™t really stand out.

At $45 per person, the value was certainly there for the amount food we got. In a tag team of four, my partner and I hopelessly gave up way before Timinmelbourne and the rest did. Embarrassingly, we had the largest amount of takeaway compared to them and sweet tooth Hello. Imnikki had to help us demolish the remaining strudel and cake.

We had some pretty decent grub that night, but the company we were surrounded by made it all the more sweeter and the service was great all round. Danke schƶn!

For my last friends get together for those who could make it we went to WTF bar/restaurant. This new place is fun and after only being open for 3 weeks this place will do really well.

We had a 5 course German themed dinner, together w German music, and a photo booth! Hahaha

For $45 you will get the best food. So much tasty food! First course, we started w a Pretzel, butter and a cheese dip, it was deee lish!
Second course was a German sausage platter, has they were excellent. My friend is in hospitality and he said that the sausages were excellent quality and full of meat! Cool.

Third course was schnitzels, pork belly, rosemary kipfler potatoes and other goodies. Yummoooo hahahaha

Fourth course was chocolate cake which was ok, but a little dry, and apple strudel which was really good.

But my favourite dessert was the German coloured sorbet, chocolate, raspberry and mango!! Yes yes yes hahaha

Every month this restaurant will change countries and the menu and beers will reflect that. We were all so impressed that we are going back to try the next country which will be Turkey. Yay

I really do hope that this really goes well as it a fun concept w excellent service!! Weā€™ll be back.

Oh and happy new year to all my followers and friendly , I truly hope you have a great New Years Eve and an amazing 2019!

And thanks to Hello. Imnikki Jojo Armani and their respective partners for their wonderful company.

I must say its a pretty good idea for them to serve different countries food in different month. Service is excellent, glass is a bit dirty though. Very spacious restaurant, and its very comfortable to dine in. However, taste of the food is average for us.
