Review Viva Zapatas Mexican Restaurant - Williamstown

Moni V
Decent Mexican with indoor and outdoor seating in the main part of Williamstown. Plenty of vegetarian options here. The tofu taco was nice and had lots of tofu in it. I also had the nachos (standard size) with frijoles, which is quite a large serving & super-cheesy. The meals taste pretty standard, but are still nice.

I wouldn't normally bother to post a review - but I feel obliged to. This was an exceedingly bad dinner. The food was bland, mushy and devoid of any texture. The appearance of the food was ok but it had a pretty unappetizing colour to it. We started with chorizo entre, initially thinking it was pretty average but bloody hell did it go downhill fast. We tried most of the entrées, all of them bland, some of them burned and inedible. Nachos were OK. At best - though frankly I could do better with the ingredients at home in the microwave - which is seemingly how they were done here. The grey coloured Guacamole was obviously not fresh. The main was no better either, however to be fair it did look better (save for the lump of discoloured stale guacamole) Not all that cheap either - probably worst $100 we've ever spent. All these 5 star reviews are a touch suspicious too...

Don't bother with this place I had the Mexican grill i was looking forward to my meal even taken a picture it looked so good that is where it stopped. There was a very thin small unchewable rubbery steak, 4 small chicken wings cut in half a chorizo sausage which tasted like it needed more cooking a salad and wedges. The best thing on the plate was the wedges and salad. The other items are still sitting heavy in my stomach. The food was not worth the price. Atmosphere was okay, you go to a restaurant for the food you cannot eat atmosphere. I truly do not recommend this place try somewhere else so you are not disappointed. Gave it 2 stars for the wedges and salad.

Very disappointing. Wait staff were very friendly but the food was extremely poor. Ordered the burrito and received a molten hot wet mess containing pre cooked chicken and cheese sauce burnt into the plate. Essentially spent $90 for a plate of nachos. Not coming back. Waste of a night.

To some this up. Save your money. Go to woolys buy some doritos, salsa and some cheese and you will have better mexican in five minutes. Generally the dishes from here can sustain hunger but as most mexican cuisine its packed with beans and rice. Overall flavour was nothing special it was hard to distinguish the change of palette due to the constant flavour of canned tomatoes. I'm a simple person when it comes to food and as far as mexican restaurants it really didn't meet expectations and seems to rely on a gimmicky atmosphere. When you microwave cheese it really comes with a obscure texture. As it is a mexican restaurant I was really put off by this. Massive lack of spice or heat flavour If you specialize in one cuisine you should definetly be above the standard but Viva Zapatas does not make the cut. Staff are friendly and are really the only reason this made it to two stars.

firstly, i have heard many great/bad reviews about this Mexican restaurant, but i still gave it a try. oh my lord, this restaurant is amazing. the waitresses were lovely and so kind, always with a warm smile. i ordered the big nachos(value for money... they are massive!) also i had the fajitas which a sizzling hot but mouth waterinG!!!! recently i saw a review on this restaurant that was described terrible... in my opinion don't listen to her!!!! give this restaurant a try, not only because the food and service is great! but the owner is massively and greatly kind, never seen an owner that has cared about her restaurant before!!!! Please believe me you wont regret it!

The food we ordered was very very bland and very very oily!! No taste to the chicken taco and the fish taco was basically a Birds Eye battered fish piece with chopped up salad that may have been left over from the day before. For a Mexican restaurant, you wont find Salsa, Guacamole or Sour cream with tacos?? Good Luck

My food was fine however my friend, who has celiac disease and cannot eat gluten - after confirming with the waitress that the tacos did not have gluten, that they were corn and not flour, they then failed to mention that fish was crumbed and after eating some - we had to call them over. The weren't even going to remove the dish from the bill and when they did they simply removed one taco that she couldn't eat - not to mention the medical issues my friend then had suffer & look after. I just don't think the situation was handled well or professionally.
