Review The Ice Cream Shoppe - Williamstown

Soniqbuoy
76 flavours of ice cream to choose from. Combine that with several varieties of cones and cup sizes, and you have a conundrum of what to order. Great tasting and located near to the pier and park to a walk and relax whilst enjoying the ice creams.

Tried most of the ice cream stores on the street, I liked this one the least. The texture was off, it was very icy and not creamy. The flavour also didn’t hit the mark. Having variety doesn’t always mean a better ice cream.

The best variety gelato ever in this area. This is one of the popular ice cream shop. Lavender flavor is very strong with lavender and nor sweet at all. Ginger flavor with ginger candy inside, worth the value. Lots of flavors cones variety. This shop is just next to pier. Convenient with bus. Plenty of car parking nearby. Seats available outside only. Staff are friendly.

Just for some scoops, make sure they give you the most when you order double scoop in a cone😁🤗😁

Nice staff. The icecream was ok.

Great ice cream shop always provides many many ice cream choices, normally more than 100 flavours! The first time I’ve been here was 13 years ago. Today I’m here again, the ice cream is still the best! Love this shop. Make sure you come to get some ice cream if you come to Williamstown!

Great location in Williamstown for ice cream. There is heaps of flavour to choose from. The ice cream serving portion is quite little here. I had a pitscahhio flavour waffle cone for $5. The price list here is reasonable but not the serving portions. It tends to get quite busy here during the hot days so waiting time is 5 to 15 minutes before you get serve.

Huge variety - over 70 flavours. Reasonable prices. $4.50/6.50/8.50 for 1/2/3 scoop double choc coated waffle cones. Royal Melbourne show winner. Delicious coffee gelato. Big range of gluten and dairy free. Very unusual flavours like Nutella doughnut, Anzac cookie dough, lavender, lemon poppy seed cake, vanilla bean& cinnamon, fig, gingerbread man, plum pudding, kahlua biscotti, banana walnut, chilli chocolate, pistachio, lychee, baci, hazelnut, white chocolate as well as all the usual flavours.

Absolutely delightful fun trying to choose from all the flavours...lovely customer service and the tastiest ice cream ever. I can't wait to go back and try some more.

We've gotten a little bit addicted to this place! Love the variety of flavours, and the customer service has been fantastic with my very talkative selectors! Love the creamy full flavour of the selection too!! My only gripe would be the lack of Eftpos (even with the ATM at hand, the additional fees associated is annoying and archaic.) *8vD

8/8 m8, hands down the best ice cream shoppe in the western suburbs, no possibly the world. I always get the choc + nut dipped waffle cone with cherry ripe on bottom, jaffa on top. L E G E N D!!!!!!!!!!

What’s a lazy Sunday outing without ice cream! The ice cream shoppe has lots of flavours to choose from but rum and raisin was my choice. Delicious.

My partner and I got some icecream here during a day trip in Williamstown and didn't like it at all. We found that it tasted powdery and just a bit fake. For example, mine was meant to have Nutella in it, but whatever was in there tasted nothing like Nutella.

You I always love coming here the best ice cream I especially come to get the lavender ice cream with the coconut and waffle cone with chocolate inside, So so good amazing service the people that work there are all lovely

Honey crunch is all I gotta say! Absolutely delicious. I do have to close my eyes when I pay cos the price is a little high for my stingy styles but you pay for what you’re getting and it’s definitely worth every one of my stingy dollars.

Yum! Have been here a few times and still haven't gone through all the flavours. This is one of the better option for ice cream on the strip as it's more value and ice cream are loaded with bits of goodness. Each flavours that we had today was rich and creamy especially the banana walnut caramel and midnight walker which had 2 or more ingredients combined; thus presenting a nice burst of all worlds. If only the staff was a bit friendlier and more incline to allow us a taste then it would've been a great experience on a 30 degree day.
Serena Shehrbano
We tried the bubblegum and pistachio flavours which were both delicious. The best part of our experience here though was the super friendly service that we received from the woman working here. Also quite affordable.

Loads of choices, so many flavors to choose from. Dose everything from waffles to chocolate dipped cones. The ice cream quality might not so high but they have Amazing flavors !! The negative only thing was they are cash only.
Melbfoodie
I love this place for icecream! Great quality and smooth texture. They really do have 100 flavours, mint slice and jaffa are awesome. Keen to try the gingerbread. They also have different covered waffle cones.
I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews on here however I was served straight away by friendly staff. My only suggestion is that the scoup size is small. They could roll it up a bit more. It would be great if they had a freezer with premade choctops to take home.

Decided to stop by Williamstown for an ice cream after some lunch at the beach. The place wasn't too busy and myself and partner hopped into the line. After waiting for ages to be served and having people queue up behind us, we realised others were being served before us. One of the employees walked over and served another person before us even though we had been waiting much longer and were ahead in the queue, we dealt with it and waited again to be served. Upon return another woman walked up to the counter in front of us and said she needed to order as her kids were being crazy and the employee again served her before us. At this stage we were appalled with the lack of service and told the girl serving that we had been waiting a long time and so many people had been served before us, to which she basically shrugged and ignored us. At this point we decided to leave as it wasn't worth the trouble anymore. This isn't the first instance of shocking service at this shop, sadly this was the last chance.

I have made an account just to review this place as I am upset by the lack of service and respect I was shown as a customer. I waited for 10-15 minutes in some form of queue which had people pushing in and being served before others. There is absolutely no way that any of the staff working there have a clue at who is next in line or who should be served next. Yeah it is a fantastic place and boasts over 100 flavours but god help you if you can actually get served properly by the staff that work there. Why is it that when there are an abundance of people the staff feel the need to have 1 person serving, and two people washing out ice cream tins. Perhaps if you had all 3 serving the rush of people wouldn't last so long and you might have some spare time towards the end of the night to wash up. I ended up just walking out after waiting for almost 20 minutes due to staff ignoring me and serving others in front of me, despite me telling one of them I was first.

The Williamstown Ice Cream Shoppe is a wonderful joint located on Nelson Place, close to the shoreline. It is a hidden gem among the vast variety of stores on the streets. My experience at this store was wonderful, it is clean, a dauntingly-hard decision to pick delicious flavours and friendly staff to serve your needs. I have tried most of the flavours, and am a local who visits often...

I'm not sure why there is much negativity in the reviews, but this store is one of the best ice cream stores I've ever been to! They have around 100 flavours, a range of decorated cones, a great environment close to the park and shore, with friendly staff who love what they do. What more could you ask for? Despite the store needing a mass renovation to modernise and improve its image, I love this place and definitely recommend it to all as it caters for people with allergies and big appetites. I totally recommend this place to anyone, near and far, to at least give this place a try.

We all know that there is nothing better than a confetti and chocolate ripple icecream from the Williamstown Icecream Shoppe on a friday night. My boyfriend and I decided to pay a visit to our favourite icecream joint. After a hard day at work, we enjoyed a scrumptious meal and decided that an icecream from Williamstown icecream Shoppe would be the cherry on top. As we made the short walk from the restaurant to our favourite icecream shop, tongues quite literally 'hanging out' we were lost for words as to what we were greeted with. The front doors were locked, lights were partially off and no employees were to be seen. We double checked the time on our watches and phones and we were puzzled as to why the shop was closed 10 minutes early. Upon knocking on the door, we were rudely greeted by an employee who appeared eager to go home, denying us access into the store. She didn't even have the decency to speak to us in person and instead used hand signals to inform us that she was leaving. We informed her that we knew exactly what we were ordering (as per our usual treat) but she just shook her head and left us outside. We are shocked by this lack of customer service and are currently feeling not only angry but disappointed in your employees lack of care -mind you we reside in Sydenham (30 minute drive down the highway). We will not be returning in the future and would appreciate a prompt response.
Yum ice creams at Williams town. Lots of flavours varieties. Ordered triple flavours in a cup (rum and raisins, espresso, chocolate), single boysenberry ripple, and single chocolate ripple biscuit. Loved the choc ripple biscuit ice cream. Very strong choc flavour, and the sauce drizzled from the cones was just something I couldn't resist! 🌷

Get some covers for your fridges. So disgusted to see so many flies flying over the ice cream, even worse dead ones in the ice cream tubs. YUCKKKKK!! Saw so many people walk out in disgust

Came here for a quick dessert with Elisha Hodges and Isabella Pearman. We ordered the Nutella donut ice cream in a single scoop cup. We found the serving sizes inconsistent but overall we loved the ice cream :)
Hello. Imnikki
This place is not for the indecisive. With over 30 flavours or more on display, you can't even remember what flavour you saw moments ago, let alone settle on a flavour. Making a decision has never been so hard. It's like asking me to choose my favourite child. You actually end up appreciating the queue because it lets you think and ponder and try to remember what was the flavour you told yourself that you wanted just minutes earlier. Texture-wise, I personally find that the flavours with ingredients swirled in e.g. boysenberry ripple, Anzac cookie dough, jam doughnut are softer and creamier than the plain flavours e.g. coffee, chocolate, vanilla. I guess this does in a way help me when choosing my favourite 'child'.

There are a lot of ice cream shop options along Nelson Place, but there is a reason everyone flocks here in summer. Ridiculous range of flavours and always loved coming here as a kid. Now as a vegan I don't miss out as they have plenty of gelato/sorbet options.

Is there anybody who doesn't like ice cream? Their ice cream is super smooth and they have a wide variety of flavours. Not too sweet and not to mention their funky cones!
Elyssa
Lovely little shop with so many flavours to choose from. I tried the salted caramel and Jaffa Sundae - absolutely delicious! Perfect spot to visit on a nice sunny day paired with a walk along the water.

Authentic. Most shops these days lack the rich flavour of tire tread and dirty ice water in their gelato. A+, am already making plans to come back April 33rd

Been there a while ago , read from news that that have lavender flavor ice cream, although it's not strong as the ice cream from lavender farm , I still love it ! It's very hard to find the lavender flavor. Love it . Will come back for it again .
Christy
Huge variety of flavours to choose from! I especially loved the yogurt soft serve. Prices were very reasonable. Customer service was amazing which is a huge plus.

Clyde and I have been coming to this ice cream shop for a long time now and they never fail to disappoint.

They have an enormous range of flavours that, besides your normal ice cream, are available in gelato and sorbet.
Our 'go to' flavours are coconut gelato, chocolate gelato and red bull gelato.

Despite their amazing range of flavours what brings us back every time is their chocolate dipped cones. My personal favourite is the chocolate and hundreds and thousands cone. Clyde always has the plain chocolate cone.

Although it may take us 15 minutes to get there, it’s worth every cent and we will continue to venture here as long as their around.
Lisa Farrell
Big tick for flavour, I'm a sucker for a choc mint ice-cream.
However, it wasn't even a hot day and the ice-cream was super soft when served!

A quick review of the Ice Cream Shoppe in Williamstown. Tonnes of flavours to choose from however the staff said we could not sample any as it was very busy (we had purchased 3 scoops already). The icecream was standard - great to cool down after a short walk to the beach and back. A great tourist spot! A nice display of Williamstown. I found it really hard to navigate through many people to try and choose a flavour so I settled with my old time favourite, rainbow icecream! Rainbow icecream Fig and Pistachio icecream Cappuccino and hazelnut icecream Walk through Williamstown Botanic Garden to get to the beach!

I won't shop here again. Today was the first time I entered your shop and most definitely the last. Initially there was only 1 girl behind the counter with a packed shop of people. Not the best move on a hot day during the school holidays. Another girl came out to serve sometime later. neither girls had appropriate customer service skills and both looked as though they would've preferred to have been anywhere else but there.
I also find the items well and truely overpriced. $6 for an icecream, $7.50 for a milkshake.
When the girl served me the 4 milkshakes ordered I wAs told $30... $30 for a bit of milk, a squirt of syrup and a blob of icecream x4... Regardless off how ludicrous this pricing is I only had a $20 note to pay. I apologised and said to the girl that I couldn't pay for it and expressed the ridiculousness of the cost and that if I could only pay for 2 milkshakes. a reasonable request as I didn't have the cash on hand to pay. Only to be yelled at by the girl " so you want me to throw these other 2 drinks out, did you even look at the board at the prices?". Unfortunately I had not. I didn't have a chance to respond because she then screamed in front of all the other patrons "DO YOU KNOW HOW RUDE THIS IS?"
Well now that I have the chance to respond, do YOU know how rude THAT was???
If your staff can't handle a job that deals with customers and varying situations then I suggest you employ someone else. This was a simple situation that could've been handled more appropriately and shows the immaturity of your staff. I will endeavour to forward onto all I come in contact with, what appalling customer service your store has and to avoid at all costs!!!

Always nice ice cream plenty of choices. Have been to this place a few times now and have tried several of the flavours, always taste like what they say they are without tasting too fake like ice cream sometimes can, service is always good, if they can please the picky parents they must be doing something right

Average icecream. Dropped in yesterday evening after dinner, i have never had a bad scoop of chocmint icecream in my life until then.
It tasted like i was eating frozen toothpaste, the mint flavour was overly strong and tasted fake, the icecream texture was awful.
We also had the cherry ripe flavour which had horrible pieces of glacè cherry skin throughout and no coconut at all.
Really awful service as well, it was a very hot and busy night but surely the people who work there could muster a smile and greet the customers??

VERY AVERAGE. Visited this place last Sunday. ..what a mistake. ...totally ordinary product...tried 4 flavors. ..but all lacked any real taste....will not be back

Dense texture, deep flavours. I've got a thing about eating ice cream when I'm by the seaside, and thankfully, Williamstown is well-supplied with gelaterias. That's what I'd call The Ice Cream Shoppe, in spite of its formal name. The frozen treats here are hard, thick and dense, like gelato should be. These are scoops that you bite to consume, because licking their non-airy texture would take too long. I don't think they had 100 flavours in their tubs on the first-of-winter Sunday when I popped in There were at least three dozen, which ought to be enough to satisfy anyone. (The most outrageous gelateria was one where I used to live in Vancouver, Canada, that had more than 300 on offer at any one time.) The better of my two scoops was the peanut butter/fudge, which had syrupy swirls of the latter running through some highly peanutty pate. The salted caramel scoop also had pronounced flavour of its main ingredient (the C-word) with enough salt to give it some tang, but not so much that it made my lips pucker. Price was $6 for two scoops in a waffle cone, which is about mid-range of what good gelato costs these days.

Honey Crunch was amazing! I loved it. Definitely a new favourite.

Not Great. Staff are clueless, service is slow to non existent, product is below average. Not recommended.

Loads of choice, amazing flavours and really friendly young staff!
Loveable Bitch
Worst ice cream in the world
Looking forward to gelati and it taste worse than Coles
FAIL!
Mik Scheper
Impressive selection, unimpressive quality. As much as I love ice cream, I've never been accused of being an ice cream snob, so the product has to be less than ordinary for me to not want to go back.

There were over 60 flavours to choose from, but the three I chose were overly sweetened and lacked the texture that makes good ice cream taste fresh and pleasurable. My girlfriend didn't finish hers because she just plain didn't like it.

I hate giving a thumbs-down to what's apparently a one-shop, family-owned business, but I'll be looking somewhere else next time I want an ice cream for that shoreline walk.
