Review Mr. Miyagi - Windsor

Aaron
Great staff and great service. As it was my first time, a waiter patiently pointed the popular dishes. Food came out fast, and we were constantly checked on how our food was too. Though, the food felt somewhat underwhelming for the premium price you pay. This place felt more like a bar than a restaurant.

Unfortunately was underwhelmed with the food. Everything leaned towards the bland side and felt like it was always missing something. Great service and friendly staff, Salmon taco was the only stand out. Ramen flavour gnocchi just wasn't happening.

Wow. What an absolutely amazing Japanese restaurant. We had the set menu which included tempura beans, salmon tacos, kingfish sashimi, wagyu tataki, ramen gnocchi and bao. Each dish had the perfect balance of flavour and the texture of the kingfish sashimi and the salmon in the taco was fresh and one of the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely take my family here and am keen to try their other dishes or if they have a new set menu later.

Such a great experience at Mr Miyagi. Firstly the drinks and dinner were so delicious, we had the Classic Banquet which was great value for money and so yummy. Special shout-out to our waitress Tat, who was incredible! She was so friendly and sweet, and she even found another girl’s diamond stone that fell out of her engagement ring (she looked through the rubbish to find it). Truly went above and beyond!!!! Can’t wait to come back

The food is fantastic and the venue has a great vibe, it was a bit strange that we were seated at a table with other people, but it was still a great night.

Was excited to come here with friends as the place and food looked very decent in the photos online especially the salmon nori taco. However- Service - not great at all, constantly rushed to leave even from the beginning before sitting down. Was forced to get the dessert as takeaway as we were “running out of time”. Every complaint we made we were responded with “I’ll go talk to the manager” but no follow up was given. Careless service yet way over staffed. Hmm that must mean the staff are more attentive to one another rather than their customers. Food: salmon nori taco was full of small sharp bones. I found 6 in mine. The rice in it was also super mushy. Miyagi fried chicken was poorly seasoned. Not crispy either. Despite having paid for a course set each for 3 people, we were only served two desserts. After confronting the waitress, she seemed like she couldn’t be bothered getting us a third (that we paid for). Salmon was served twice as a dish on the set menu - the second dish was the yuzu coral salmon - which is served raw. The marinade and sauce it was mixed in did not suit it and was confusing to taste. The overload of crispy rice noodles was an awkward choice of topping as it didn’t compliment the dish at all and covered the whole dish. Music was TOO loud. Worse than clubs. Could not talk to my friend next to me without shouting. My ears were ringing after walking out of the place. Came out of this place without even one positive thing to share. This may even be the first time I will tell people to avoid this place. It’s honestly disheartening to see authentic Asian cuisines be messed around with and be charged a premium for. Sho sho sad.

Would highly recommend avoiding this restaurant if you have dietary requirements. Specifically coeliac disease. Majority of their ‘gluten friendly’ items have soy sauce or some other gluten containing ingredient which does not make them ‘gluten friendly’ at all but are supposedly there for those who can tolerate some gluten? Menu is very misleading and staff are rude, uneducated and condescending.

First time eating at Mr Miyagis and it was amazing. Had the bao Schnitz chicken, the fish tacos, and the fried chicken wings as well as some salmon sashimi - each dish was recommended by our friendly and attentive waiter and each was a delight to eat. The fish tacos are an absolute must and the sashimi was so fresh and full of flavour. Even the wait for a table was fine as we got to have a drink in the bar. Would recommend this as a must go dining experience in Melbourne and will definitely go again. NB this is a great date venue

Our first experience to this place. Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Service was remarkable. Attentive gorgeous Sarah served us. Food was fantastic. Love the creative menu of the fusion Japanese food. We ordered one dessert but the Chefs whipped up two special desserts and served us champagne to celebrate our 30th anniversary, When we paid the bill, we thought the staff forgot to charge us. Being an honest customer, we went back to inform them only to have been told it’s on the house. Thank you Mr Miyagi for making our night so memorable.

Lachie was the best waiter ever!!!!!! Definitely recommend everyone come here for amazing food and even better drinks

The staff is great. Perhaps the best in the neighbourhood. The food though is clearly over rated. Not saying that is bad. Actually it is not bad at all, but there is so much room for improvement. To start with using less mayonnaise in every dish. Cheers. Peace out. ✌🏽

Absolutely delicious food, we loved everything that we ordered! A very well put together vegetarian menu (usually, v hard to find in Japanese restaurants) Very warm and friendly staff, upbeat playlist and great atmosphere. It's going to be my new go-to joint in Windsor.

First time. Not only do I have a food allergy but we had a 3 yr old with us who loved the food also.! We tried about 5 items and shared the yellow curry - all amazing! The desert WOW WOW WOW!!!! We will definitely be returning again. The staff exceptional dinning with a food allergy can be hard - you did brilliant thank you!

Had an epic dinner here with a group of 11. The waitron; Lauren, was exceptional and created a menu for the whole table to share from scratch, plus taking into account all the various dietaries. My must have again dish is the Salmon Taco. Five stars all he way!

Love Mr Miyagi, the food is fantastic well worth the wait to get in as you can’t book. If you get a chance sit at the bar, the chefs are very entertaining. Well definitely be back.

It’s 2018. Let’s lose the tired racist tropes? Let your venue stand on the quality of its food instead of bullshit racist gimmicks
Rebecca Hanley
Pretentious wait staff - think everyone is blessed to be invited to wait in the bar for 3 hours for a meal
Mistermister
One night stand @mobcamberwell x @mrmiyagimelbourne feed me menu is definitely a feed. We didn’t get to the satay. Just too much food! Loved the Spotify playlist for the meal. Almost felt like we were at Mr Myagi... in trackie dacks. Highlight was the dumplings, even though a little cold by the time we got it. We’d give the bang bang tuna a miss as it wasn’t the same as being freshly made in the restaurant. It was definitely missing some of the “bang”.

Japanese fusion done so so so well! The tacos are a must and it’s always fun to get the Sushi of the Day (I’ve been a few times and it’s always been different). However, my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE is the tempura broccoli!!! The cocktail selections are also so yum and cute for boomerangs.

Visited for a midweek catchup with my sister on a Tuesday night, the place was busy and energetic. The food was spot on, lots of variety in the menu and plenty of vegetarian options. Juliet gave us some of the best customer service I've ever experienced, charismatic, attentive, and very knowledgeable! Cannot recommend enough, will definitely be going back!

Yesterday, on a Monday night I decided to wine and dine my good friend who was going to jet off to Adelaide and ofc ‘I thought what better place than would send her off with a “bang” than Mr Miyagi?’ Despite it not being my first time dining at this Asian fusion masterpiece, it was my dear friend’s first experience.

As we walked into the restaurant; I was intending to have a few drinks rather than dining straight away cos I thought, ‘well it’s after work drinks and we’re in NO RUSH.’ The moment we got to the front of house counter, we were greeted with nothing but entitlement and a stand-off attitude by the staff handling the walk in customers. I ignored it and requested to go the back bar prior to dining. She then proceeded to escort us to the back in which we patiently waited for a drink menu for over 10 mins. It was clear my friend and I weren’t welcome here because the service was very delayed even though it was only 6pm on a Monday night? Quite interesting. Much to my dismay, we decided to head off and go to Hawker Hall across the road.

I met Mr Miyagi at the Australian Open Tennis. He was the only one serving the ace dishes at the Melbourne park. I particularly enjoyed his Fried Chicken. He’s not only a great Karate teacher, he’s also a great cook. Daniel son must be very proud. I give this place 4 bears.

Tried recommendations from the waitress and it did not disappoint. Salmon nori taco, schnitty bao and prawn and ginger dumplings were all nice. Service was friendly and quick. Tables are very close to each other, can hear other peoples conversations.

The fried chicken is a must to try! AMAZING 😍

Mr Miyagi certainly lives up to their reputation! We went here for early dinner and got a table right away for a group of 5. Parking is relatively easy - Keep in mind they don't take reservations for small groups so get there early to avoid disappointment!

We tried all their signature dishes as recommended by the friendly waitress. We tried Salmon Nori tacos, Schnitty Bao, Spiced Tuna Tartare which were definitely memorable, delicious and light. We tried other dishes such as Happy's handroll and prawn/ginger dumplings which weren't too big in flavour. Their cocktails, I must say, are also tasty if you're one to enjoy sweet alcoholic beverages. The "Sanchez does Kyoto" cocktail which has Yuzu was refreshing and seriously irresistible!

Overall a lovely dining experience. Only downside is that I imagine visiting during dinner time to be absolute madness! If only they took bookings! However we were lucky enough to miss the dinner rush.

Another one of those places with "share style" menus. The chicken salad was a small bowl that was $24 and not what I call salad. Mostly Vermicelli noodles... a cold noodle bowl, really. Overhyped, overrated.

Absolutely horrific. If you aren’t a single group of girls - forget it. This isn’t a restaurant this is a place purely wanting instagram and female audience. So uncomfortable being here. They have lost a lot of people due to the staff (especially long hair male and Maori dude with earings) giving phone numbers to girls on tables and free drinks. How is this a restaurant?!?!? They were so delayed giving our food and drinks because spent their whole time planning when to meet the girls after work- horrific!!!

Love everything, food, staff, vibes, location.
Really satisfied with the experience.
Good job guys

Salmon Nori Taco: 😍 Amazing
Chicken Waffles : 😍 Amazing
Schnitty Bao : 😍 Amazing
Prawn Dumplings : 😍 Amazing
Happy’s Handroll : 😍 Amazing

The wait at Mr M’s for dinner was insane but well worth it. If you come here, you need to get their infamous Salmon Nori Taco. It’s crispy, is flavourful and it’s delicious. Highly recommend the Schnitty Bao as well. We had a lovely waiter and her service was impeccable. Would definitely come back again.

went there with high expectations from friends, but it was overpriced.
Staff were friendly enough, didn’t try drinks so can’t rate...

Visited Mr Miyagi again after 2 years, and I’m glad to say that our experience was just as good as the first! From food to service - everything was impressive!

The highlights of our meal have to be the famous Salmon Nori Taco, the Schnitty Bao, and the Miyagi Fried Chicken. The Nori Taco is probably what Mr Miyagi is best known for, and for a good reason! Think crispy fried seaweed, sushi rice, fresh seared fatty salmon, and spicy mayo sauce - the ultimate concoction! The Schnitty Bal was super delicious - I loved how soft the bao bun was, and the ramen coated chicken was a creative and tasty idea. You also can’t go wrong with the MFC - piping hot, super crispy and flavourful fried chicken ribs, with addictive kewpie mayo sauce. So good!

The Pork Sliders were amazing too - I couldn’t believe how tender and soft the pork was! The ‘flat bun’ was super soft and light too. The Lamb Rendang Donut was also very delicious, hearty and flavourful - there was real pieces of lamb meat on the inside.

To drink, we tried the Cold Drip Martini and the Charlie Does Tokyo. The martini was amazing - so smooth - and definitely worth a try!

You can’t leave Miyagi without dessert. We tried both - the Pumpkin Toast and the Fuji Apple Pie. They were both super delicious! The Apple Pie was served piping hot, apple filling encased in a crispy thick cinnamon pastry, and went so well with the salted caramel ice cream. The Pumpkin Toast was divine - the toast itself was so crispy on the outside, yet moist on the inside. It was a really lovely mixture of salty and sweet, and the yoghurt sorbet added a nice refreshing element to cut through the sweetness. Amazing!

Highly recommend visiting this place if you haven’t yet! Definitely one of my favourite places in Melbourne.

Always good food and drinks.

Where do I even start! The food, drinks, service and ambience was all incredible 😍This was my first time visiting Mr Miyagi and I absolutely loved it. The last time we wanted to have dinner here they advised that it was a 2 hour wait. But this time we came for lunch and there were a few seats available on the weekend

We sat by the window and enjoyed great dishes. We had the:
- Salmon nori taco 5/5 ✨
- Tempura broccoli 5/5 ✨
- Pork sliders 4/5
- Yellow curry 4/5
- Happy's handroll 4/5
- Miso cured kingfish 3/5
- Mr M's Fuji apple pie 5/5 ✨

Tried the famous salmon nori taco for the first time and it was delicious. There was a little kick of spice which elevated the taco 🌶

The tempura broccoli was insane! It did not taste like broccoli at all and the salted buffalo ricotta just brought it to another level. Never did I think that I'd rave on about broccoli 🥦this much but Mr Miyagi has done a great job. Also the apple pie was to die for! 😍

They also have a goon sack which is quite interesting! Loved the Frozè and frozen gin and tonic as well 😋

food is great, always busy but worth the wait for a table

Wow, I've been wanting to come to Mr Miyagi since it opened & I'm so glad that I have now. The whole experience was worth every penny

The atmosphere is beautifully modern & classy. I loved the low lighting, intimate seating & pops of neon colour. The combination of dining with an open pass made the area feel more bustling & busy. The connected bar allowed people waiting to have a drink & enjoy their night while waiting to be seated. My friend and I were lucky that we came early enough to not have to wait, but by the time we finished, the place was packed! Each seating is 1.5 hours for walk ins

DRINKS
Cold Drip Martini: Coffee, alcohol & chocolate, what more could you want?! The combination of the sweet & creamy white chocolate foam along with the classic espresso martini flavour was a match made in heaven

FOOD
We tried so many dishes, my favourites being the delicious salmon nori tacos, ginger & prawn dumplings & tempura broccoli. My least favourite dish was the curry, which just didn't have the flavours I was hoping for & the roti had a bit of an unpleasant burnt note to it from over charring. However, these were small comments in the grand scheme of deliciousness

Amazing table service. Our waters were constantly topped off, the food kept flowing & we didn't wait long for our food at all. Polite service & very professional

Another FIRM favourite. Make sure you book because they’re very much in demand. Lots of really delicious dishes to choose from and gin and tonic slushies (YUM). Best to order a few different dishes and share around. Loved everything we’ve eaten at Mr Miyagi to be honest. Perfect date night spot.

Mr. Miyagi is by far my favourite restaurant in Melbourne. Friendly staff and beautiful interior. Food and drinks are on the pricey side, but it is definitely worth it. Food is amazing and I would recommend the tacos.
Ashleigh Michelle
Mr Miyagi is always a good time! It's a great atmosphere, especially on Friday and Saturday nights - although it's always a good place to have drinks with friends. I've now tried all the drinks on the cocktail menu (there isn't many), and my favourite would have to be the Hello Kitty Sour. I do wish there were some more cocktail options!

In terms of the food, I'd definitely rate it one of the best Japanese inspired eateries in Melbourne. I especially love the Ramen Gnocci, however it is very overpriced considering the portion size. The desserts are great too- I can't seem to come here without getting a Fuji Apple Pie. It's the perfect combination of apple, cinnamon pastry, cornflakes and salted caramel ice cream.
SouthEastEater
Mr. Miyagi is a casual Japanese restaurant that offers a menu of very tasty food. The menu does cater for a range of tastes including vegetarian and gluten free.
Standout: salmon Nori Taco, however, it is very rich!
Notable mentions: miyagi fried chicken and prawn and ginger dumplings.
Service: 4/5

Overall: 4/5

Tasty Food, Good service and a 0 to 2 AmbianceMr Miyagi would be classed as a "HIP" place that appeals to the "Nightclub" crowd more so than those looking for a place to eat. ( Personally not sure whether they want to be a Bar or a restaurant )The Staff are really helpful, that is when you can hear them above the blaringly loud music, which has the monotonous deep "whacka - whacka base beat. This is the biggest drawback of Mr Miyagi - you cant hear the person across the other side of the table - and even your waitresses have to shout. ( Management Understand the basics - The louder the Music, the louder the patrons - to be heard over it )The flavour of the food is fantastic, the service of the wait staff and floor Managers are great, but at no time did any of us feel "comfortable' and honestly we couldn't wait to get out of there. At 5.45 this place was almost fully booked out so I advise getting there early.( You cannot book unless there are 6 or more )

Definitely a favourite and have always been a favourite. From the drinks menu to the food menu options, they are so good.

We had the feed me menu and the food was really good. The favourite has got to be the salmon nori taco, they are so good and is so different from what you would usually get elsewhere.

The staff is really friendly and the decor is classy and chic. Highly recommended and it's one of my favourite Asian fusion dining spot in Melbourne
Catherine
Enjoyed both the drinks and food at Mr Miyagi! It has taken me so long to try this place because of the wait times .. we waited about 1.5hrs for a table for 4 on a Friday night!! This will be the only thing holding me back to dine here again.
For four, we ordered:

• Salmon Nori Tacos
• Schnitty Baos
• Spiced tuna tartare
• Handroll
• pink cured salmon

There was one more thing we ordered - I can’t seem to find it on the menu..

I recommend the infamous tacos and the spiced tuna tartare.

LETS TACO’BOUT IT🌮💃🏼
Seriously though, Can you go to Mr Miyagi and not get the Nori Salmon Taco !?!
This is definitely one of their top dishes and we now understand why😍🤩
A nori taco filled with sushi rice, no shortage of salmon, spicy cabbage, kewpie mayo and drizzled with chilli oil 🤤🤤🤤
If you haven’t been - you have to check this out!!

Where do I start...
I love this place!
The staff were so helpful and make us feel so welcome.
We ordered the feed me menu and gosh there was so much food and it came so quickly!
Each dish was just as good as the next but my stand outs where salmon nori taco, salt slab kingfish and the fried chicken (the seasoning OMG)
Love the frozen G&T and had to try the espresso martini with the white chocolate foam 😍
Happily revisit again and again
Mr. Miyagi is one of my favourite eateries in Melbourne. You cannot go wrong with the famous ‘Salmon Nori Taco’ and their ‘Happy’s Handroll’ has never disappointed from all the times I’ve visited. A really great place for a date night or dinner night out with friends as they’re always pumping great tunes and the staff are always attentive. The food is excellent but because of the high quality food and service if you arrive for dinner on the weekend any time after 7pm expect to be waiting a long time till a table becomes available, they don’t do bookings for small groups either. Get in early because Mr. M says so!

Really cool vibe and friendly service. Food was amazing. One of the best fusion restaurants I’ve been to.

Love this place. Definitely one of my go to restaurants, a pricey one but so worth it! Food is ugh to die for. Always get Salmon Nori Tacos with Sanchez does Kyoto cocktail 👌🏽👌🏽

Amazing food! Would 100% recommend everyone going there, only problem would be they do get very busy and u might need to wait in line for a spot but beside that love it there

First off, we came on a Tuesday night, and weren’t anticipating for it to be busy... ekkkkk 45 min wait. But we knew it would be worth it so took a seat at the bar and got some drinks and also some bar snacks. Our waitress was so friendly! We loved the chat with her! Then half way through our snacks, our table was ready early- awesome.
We proceeded to order more food, we had an epic table by the kitchen so we could watch them prep the food.
The food was unbelievable- it was so delicious- every single item we ordered was a 10/10
I really really highly recommend me miyagi!
I also recommend booking!
Liz Tigana
Such a great place that is worth the wait.
Great cocktails, friendly service and amazing food! What more could you ask for?
Yes, the wait is generally long but it is definitely worth it
Vincent La Posta
Recently came in for dinner with a friend & two of the waiters, Jesse & Jack took such good of us. I will come back just for that service alone. Food didn't blow me away but we had a great night & the place was buzzing.
Jen Eats Away
TLDR: popular and cute restaurant, terrible service at the beginning that nearly ruined the night, but later improved, food was delicious, cocktails were yummy, would come back and recommend to others

Full Review:
Mr. Miyagi is always popping- too bad they only take bookings for groups 5 or larger! We came at 8 on a Monday night at 8 in December and had to wait for a table. There is an option to wait in their cocktail bar at the back and when a table clears up, the staff escort you to the table with your drinks. We opted to take a walk instead and wait for them to notify us via text once our tables were ready.

Upon receiving the text, we came back to be told our table wasn't quite ready and offered again to wait in the cocktail bar. This was confusing but we were fine with waiting. I'd been here once before and remember thinking the bar was super cute, with tables and seats, and remember loving that they provide table service there too! So to my surprise this time we weren't even properly seated- just left to ourselves and not even offered a drinks menu. There were only two other couples seated in the bar area with us, who were being served but the waitress walked past us multiple times and it was impossible to get her attention for some reason, as the bar was not busy at all. She kept going back to the POS and seemed very interested in the screen. I had to stand up to go get a menu, and because we couldn't get her attention, we physically went to order from the bar. Then, because we'd been waiting for a while I managed to get her attention to ask if our tables were ready. She said she'd check for us. Finally, she came back and said the table was ready and she'd wait for our drinks to be ready before showing us to it. All good. When our drinks finally came, she gave them to us and said we could go to our tables. This had me really confused yet again, because I didn't even know where exactly our table was? We were told to go to the front of house where we would be assisted. Front of house was dealing with some new people who had come in so we were left standing there awkwardly waiting for someone to help us out. This was all very frustrating but we were then finally seated.

I'm sorry for the long rant above but it had a really negative impact on the night. My previous visit to Mr. Miyagi had gone so smoothly, with such great service which included table service at the cocktail bar, then when our table was ready, we were taken back out to the restaurant and shown to our table, I was super surprised to have such a contrasting experience this time around.

Now, onto some good notes:

Our hostess for the rest of the night was lovely- really helpful at explaining the menu and helping us out whenever needed.

The cocktails we ordered were delicious, and I can honestly say they were some of the best I've ever had. They're also so colourful and pretty-looking!

We ordered:
2 x Salmon Nori Taco
1 x Miyagi Fried Chicken
1 x Green Tea Soba Noodle Salad
1 x Katsu Curry Puff
1 x Sushi Platter

The salmon nori taco was perfect- with a combination of textures given by the crunch nori taro shell with the fresh salmon, complemented by the spicy cabbage and mayo. Just as good as last time! The curry puff was lovely and cheesy. The miyagi fried chick was good for taste but a little bit dry. The green tea soba noodle salad was nice and fresh- good to balance out all the heavy stuff. The sushi was nice too but didn't stand out.

Overall, the food was great and I would give a 4-star rating for everything if not for all the hiccups that occurred earlier on, so all I can give is 3 stars. There were plenty of positives that I would still come back for though- such as the salmon nori taco (my absolute fave), the cocktails, cute vibes, and mostly great service.
Michael Garzia
Always a great atmosphere and vibe at Miyagi. Food which doesn’t let you down and of all sorts.
Leesa Jane
Great venue understandably it's busy and there was a one hour wait time but the waiting bar section out the back is a great idea ! Venue has good vibes, menu and drinks were really good loved the kingfish on the Himalayan rock salt block never seen that before great presentation and taste as well as the other 10 dishes we ordered . Could not wait to take photos of our other dishes as it was all to yum .Do not like the fact there is an allocated hour and a half time slot per table then you get told times up move along. Don't think that should apply to customers who order as much food and drinks as us as it takes time to get through it all . Mind you the manager Zane and another lovely lady accommodated to us and assured us we could stay as long as we liked . Was our 2 year anniversary even gave us complimentary shots . Would definatley come back again maybe when it's not as busy , although I think that is never as quality is amazing .

So glad I have the chance to try Mr Miyagi, a great place for catching up with friends for a Friday night. Love their cocktail, presentation and taste were both 5/5. Customer service was welcoming even the store was packed. Love the salmon taco I suggest order 1 each because you won't feel like sharing with your friend it tastes freaking awesome!

This place truly brings Japanese fusion food to another level, if you love Japanese food, keep an eye on this space!

We really enjoyed the sushi taco at Mr.Miyagi. I was Looking forward to trying the MIyagi Fried Chicken but unfortunately it was very oily didn't finish it.

Unforgettable dining experience! Had kingsfish, salmon tacos and fried chicken. Every dish was to die for! Worth every cent every $$! Authentic fusion adventure! Please don’t tweak your menu and never change!!!!

Came here on the weekend as we were passing by & wanted to try, we are rarely out this side of town. We had our son in tow in his pram & they didn’t blink an eyelid at us for bringing him, they all made us feel very welcome & were very engaging with him throughout us trying a quick few dishes. We tried the bao, rice paper roll & MFC & they were all spot on, gave us a nice little taste of what this restaurant has to offer, would hope to return for the feed me menu.

Some of the best food you'll have in Melbourne. This is in my top three Asian dining experiences in Melbs. Nice environment. Not fancy but nicely done. Rustic. Great staff. They've tasted all the food. The dishes are all outstanding. The salmon taco was a standout for me. One of the best dishes I've ever eaten. Pork belly pancakes (think Peking pork) was also incredible. Delicious dumplings. This is a must on anyone's list. If you only have one night in Melbourne and are looking for an Asian dining experience this should be at the top of your list. Arrive as early as possible to get a table if you don't book.

I was looking for a restaurant that has 'feed me' menu around Melbourne and I found this gem in Windsor just on Chapel St. The salmon taco was by far the best crispy nori & salmon combo I've ever had! I really enjoyed everything else that we ordered too!

N.B. Their service was top notch and they really care about any dietary requirements

Impressive service. We asked to customise our drinks into mocktails and the lady helped us figure out the best option- the salted watermelon! 😍

Out of all the orders, I enjoyed their most popular Salmon Taco. The fried chicken is also worth a try.

Would love to come back to try more of their foods and drinks! 🍣🍸

Mr. Miyagi is great! Their unique vibe is a mixture of party and professional. Above average cocktails, and great flavours from the kitchen it’s no wonder that we had to wait 2 hours on a waiting list to grab our seat. Definitely worth noting that the management during our visit was incredibly attentive and helpful.

Didn’t realise I had to walk in and be as pretentious as the service at the front desk to be talked to as a human. Walked in with my best friend expecting at least to be addressed with some eye contact but after us greeting the hostess with kindness and hope for table for 2 (there were tables available and bookings can’t be made), a reply of “2 hour wait” which meant after closing time was given. Didn’t even stay long enough to see if the 2 girls behind us were ushered to a table, the servers definitely choose who they want to bring in. Never making an effort to drive so far to be disrespected again. Get a grip.

first time I ate here I promised myself to come back just for the fish tacos 😉 once again they were amazing! Beautiful combination of salmon, special sauce, salad, rice and vinegar all cased in a crunchy taco 😍 easily one of my favourite dishes on the menu ✊ recommend the 'feed me' option to cover all your bases 😊 8.5/10 overall of taste, portion (feed me option) and coin ☒

If you didn’t book expect the long wait a table. Their tacos and fried chicken is really delicious. Would recommend!!! Price is quiet ressonable

After months of postponing a meal here, we finally tried out this bustling establishment which was packed even on a tuesday night! Since it was our first time here we opted for the feed me menu which would consist of a 7 course meal of the recommended dishes. (65pp) I have nothing but praises for every dish that came up, they were all properly delicious, well balanced and so generous in terms of portion! 😍 I really felt it was a bang for the buck! 🤑 The service was so hospitable and top notch! The head chef even offered us a complimentary dish of the tempura broccoli on the house which was such a pleasant surprise! 🥰 The servings were so generous to the point by the time we got to the fried chicken food coma was already kicking in and so we had no choice but to take it away! 😢 If you don't wish to go all out, a must order would be their famous nori tacos! I finally understand what the hype is about after tasting these crispy goodness tonight! 😋 It was truly an enjoyable dining experience! 💞

loved the atmosphere and vibes! And the food was amazing! Will be back very soon to try out the drinks! Highly recommend the salmon taco it was delicious!
Quince And Cheese
Mr. Miyagi is hyped but worth it. The dishes are innovative and well executed and relatively generous for the price. My favourite is the silken tofu, which is well spiced but not spicy and soft without falling apart. I don't usually like silken tofu dishes but love this one. I also enjoyed the shitake dumplings, eggplant rice paper roll and the piping hot and vibrantly green tempura broccoli topped with cheese. The vegetarian curry is really nice thanks to a rich sauce and "complimentary" side of roti and unique inclusion of Korean rice cake. The grand addition to the meal was the pumpkin toast, which is so much better than how it sounded on the menu. It reminds me of the pumpkin loaves and pumpkin spice ice cream I ate as a kid in America around autumn. It's a must-try.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for forever and ever. Luckily Mr. Miyagi did not disappoint! The food was exceptional and the service was even better. All staff looked genuinely happy to accommodate to any needs and appeared to all love their work environment. Such good vibes in this place! Would highly recommend the salmon tacos. I’ve been dreaming of them ever since!

Mr Miyagi is a very vibrant place with good food and drinks my favourites are the Nori salmon taco, with the Mr Miyagi fried chicken and with the schnity bao

Been here twice now and I absolutely love it here!

$$: Food is reasonably priced, but cocktails are on the more expensive side. You definitely get your money’s worth!

Food: Very delicious and fun Japanese fusion food. Shared menu, so would recommend ordering small bits of everything to get an idea of what you like! You definitely can’t go wrong with anything on there :) Highlights: Schnitzel bao, salmon taco, special sushi, and Yuzu margarita 🤤

Service: Staff were very friendly and accommodating! When I went here for a birthday, the staff really took care of us that night and even gave us free drinks!

Vibes: A very fun and hip place to be at! Everyone is dressed very nicely and are there to have a good time with friends. This place seem to always book out fast for large bookings.

Overall, Mr. Miyagi is a must for everyone to experience 🙌

Came here tonight on the 29/06/2019,
Night started off fine, we came in asked for a table for three as the website advised there were no bookings for under 5 people. We proceeded to wait in the bar area for our table and after 15mins we were advised that our table was ready. Great! We head to the front and they tell us we were “prematurely sent to the front for our table” again that’s fine, we went back to the bar with our drinks and waited. The girl in the bar area apologised and said that they will get us a table straight away. 10mins pass by and she comes back and says that it won’t be long. Another 20mins go by and we went to ask how much longer as at that point we had been waiting for 40mins. They said we were next to be given a table and they were literally just waiting for people to leave. We waited another 20mins before deciding to just pay for our drinks we had the bar and to find somewhere else to eat. When we got to the front of the restaurant we saw not one not two but three tables empty and set up with wine glasses and cups. We walked out and after 10mins of leaving they messaged me that the table was now ready. We decided to give it another chance sat down at one of the tables that were set up as we left and placed our order. After waiting a span of 1 hour to get all the food out we were ready to pay we were raising our hand and waving but all the waiters and waitresses were too busy talking to a table full of their friends. All hugging them laughing and walking past us as we kept waving. Honestly worst service. DO NOT GO OVERPRICED BULLSHIT

This place has been on my list for sooooo long. The last two times I came the line was over two hours long so we didn’t bother to wait. This time we came on a Thursday night at 5ish and only waited 10 mins!

The taco was a must have, highly recommended by the staff. I quite enjoyed it, the salmon was fresh and it was super filling.

The sushi we got was filled with green mango and tuna and the waitress told us it was different every day. This was our least fave dish- the green mango was so dry and tastes weird in sushi.

The last dish was deep fried broccoli(!!!) this was my favourite dish, it sounds so simple but works so well, was crunchy on the outside and mushy inside.

Heard of this place four year ago but only get to come today. Felt welcome all the way through. Rare outstanding customer service across the whole crew. Food wise? Yeah everything we ordered is amazing!

Winters are for Feed Me feeds, and Mr. Miyagi definitely delivered a meal and a half for my best friend and I on an unplanned midweek stuffing.

Interesting Japanese fusion ft. tacos, pizza and fried chicken, with a panna cotta to finish.
Highlight was the sashimi with yuzu infused soy, and the salmon sashimi taco (it’s a rice based taco thank goodness).

Nice place, cool venue!
Tummy Buddy
Mr. M did not disappoint! Visiting from Sydney, we were quite excited to try this place as we have heard many good things. Food was delicious!! In particular the crispy tofu bao was incredible - such a flavourful combination. Good vibes and music would definitely return to try more dishes.

Every night this place is full and now I know why.
Finally had the chance to have lunch there today and the salmon tacos and beef brisket was delish!
Definitely coming back to try more.

Well the food was good. But the after taste not so much.
There weren’t enough of us dining to be able to secure a booking but we rolled up to see how we would go. Easy 20 min wait then a table was free. We ordered quickly and the taco pictured arrived first, all was going great we had a good selection to eat our way through.
We had chosen perfectly allowing just enough room for desert. That is when it went pear shaped.
The waitress took our order and came back to informed us that they needed the table and we would have to take desert at a table in the bar section that she had ‘fortunately’ been able to secure for us.
I was in Melbourne from out of town and out for dinner to catch up with those I was dining with.
Not looking to be kicked off a table after an hour and 20 mins after being seated (with no prior advice). It became apparent they were churning tables harder than a milk maid making butter.
So desert canceled night over with our catch up dinner cut disappointing short.
The food is great, staff not the most attentive (had to keep asking for drink refills) but not the spot to go if you aren’t into having a bit of a rush on your meal so they can get you through and off the table as quick as possible.
4 stars for the food and 2 stars for the dining experience.

Simply delicious!! Went for mothers day and couldn't be happier that my husband picked this restaurant. Absolutely delicious. Their taco is a must!!! The waitress were super nice and helpful.

I mean... have you really visited Melbourne if you haven’t been to Mr M’s? It’s a destination you always manage to stop into... every melbourne trip is just an excuse to step foot in here. Salmon tacos are everything!

Another must-try! Their two dishes that makes this place worth the visit are the: Nori Tacos and the Tempura Broccoli (that comes with generous shavings of cheese). Not to forget, their Frose (frozen rose) is not one you want to miss!

The other dishes are good, but nothing particularly special. Lovely lively place nonetheless. Be sure to be early when deciding to pay this place a visit as it does get packed, fast, REAL FAST!

3.5/5 Been wanting to try their taco for a long time. They had a high ratings, and was famous for their taco. Started off with beef brisket betel leaf, which was flavourful. Then finally it’s tine for the taco. The nori taco was very crispy, although a bit oily. The salmon was generous, unlike many other nori tacos, which usually contain mostly rice. It was tasty, but not as unique and worth the hype. The lamb rendang donut was disappointing. It had an unpleasant lamb smell, and the overall dish was bland. It lacked of rendang flavour. The service was really good, the waiters were friendly and the serving time was quick. Although it was a bit of a disappointment, and I don’t think it didn’t live up to the hype.
Rob
This place is amazing, the only thing better than the food is the staff. So much to choose from and the kids love the MFC. We will be back but right now I need to lie down. So much great food.

Delicious Japanese in a fun, funky setting. Salmon nori taco is to die for. Cocktail list, includes but is not limited to frose! All food was amazing and service was great!
Jill
All I can say is, yum!!!! I fell in love with this place and the food the first time I came here. The nori tacos ... wow! I find myself constantly craving them. Delicious food and the feed me option is so worth it.
Sarah
Hands down the best modern Japanese in Melbourne. Nothing else compares! The tacos are a must every time and the sushi of the day is always fresh and delicious.

Tasty treats in Windsor! I’ve eaten here a few times only cause the wait is so hectic & a gals gotta eat these nori taco was tasty the first time & the popcorn 4 ways was the highlight! Who would of thought to have whipped out this beauty.

I’d like to come back to try more & the Froses too as they look beaut!!

This place is an LA tryhard without the smiles that characterise the Golden State. The experience is depressing,

Having been here a few times, Can't say I want to give it another shot. Ordered a $7 seaweed salad and sadly realised I could've got 2X the quantity and 2X the quality at a local takeaway joint.

It was drinks hour when I went here last. but when I ordered a drink and a snack, the waiters looked at me like "you haven't ordered an expensive enough item." Oh, and they "forgot" to bring out the drinks. Slammed the seaweed salad down on the table with literally ZERO eye contact. Oh, but when I entered and looked like a big spender, they were all about the eye contact.... TF

They sit you up on a big high chair and treat you like a baby they had out of wedlock and really regret having. NO THANKS. If I can recommend one thing to Windsor-ites: say 'NAH' to Mr Mi-NAH-gi (a big no from me - pretentious - even for this side of the Yarra :( )

My Key Three Pointers
* Eat before you go and by the time you get a table you will be hungry again.
* The service in the waiting area was excellent.
* Food was better than I imagined and waiting 2.5 hours was not so bad.

We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday night and was advised the wait time would be 2 hours. I did hesitate and was not sure if I wanted to wait that long but I new I eventually would, someday. We were seated in the bar area and you can grab a few cocktails and nibbles while you count the clock down. I did wonder why this area was not utilized as additional dinning space but then thought what a smart move. Juice people up, make them happy so by the time they get the table all is forgiven and forgotten. The service in this waiting area was exceptional. Staff super friendly and helpful and made waiting super fun
After 2.5 hours we got a table and just on the verge of hungry/angry and can’t focus because I need food. Thank god the food comes out super fast but the service in the dining space was the polar opposite. Crap crap crap. It was like no one wanted to be there and trying to grab someone’s attention to order a simple drink or start placing a food order was impossible. You would think after waiting so long they would be even more on point. Oh well, lucky the food was fantastic.
Yum yum yum for every dish that we ordered. The famous taco was definitely cult worthy. The prawn dumplings sensational and the fried chicken in the fluffy bun pillows was a dream. My favorite surprisingly was the chicken in the cones what a great way to start a good meal. Please don’t forget to order dessert, the apple pie was a great way to finish and excellent food experience.

Followed the great reviews but not sure i share the enthusiasm. Some stuff ups with our "snack" meal, which we waited for 40min. Okay, happens.

Some food is great... eg. salmon tacco and pork belly. Other food is a letdown... eg. deep fried broccoli - some pieces super oily to that point they leave uncomfortable afterburn. Also miyagi fried chicken has no balance. Just oily chicken. Given all dishes arrive separately eating it on its own is a bit dry.

The place has modern vibe with loud music. However, didn't leave me wanting to come back.

Would never ever come here again. Horrible service. Management was disgraceful and by far the rudest people ever. Food well as truely below average

WOW! This place doesn’t really need any more glowing reviews but here’s one anyway.

The venue and service was exceptional. The food out of control delicious! Highlight has to be the salmon taco and the schnitzel Bao. Not an everyday dinner place as it’s not cheap but perfect for a special occasion!
Update - I went for a second time recently and the service was even better but they did bring out 3 salmon dishes in the feed me menu...not a huge variation. Would suggest ordering your own things from the menu which is what I will be doing next time I visit. Still a 5 star place.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Mr Miyagi and I find myself thinking about it and recommending it to people often...
The waiting time is unfortunate but the bar at the back makes for a great way to spend your time drinking and eating through the snack menu while waiting for a table.
Great place to go with your girlfriends or significant other.

If youre happy to wait to be seated then highly recommend this place! Best Japanese fusion restaurant. great service also. Food was fabulous

Our first time at Mr Miyagi, have heard good things so was excited! We got a booth for 10 down the back which was nice and cosy. It was quite noisy though so hard to have a conversation with anyone not next to you.
Service was lovely, attentive and prompt.

Food came out super quick which was amazing cause we were starving by 8:30
The food was good but not sure it was worth the price. The only thing I would happily pay for again is the nori taco which was worth it and pretty filling.

We also had the corn balls, the kingfish (which was a bit too salty) and the dumpings which were okay. We had the curry and the ramen gnocchi to share which were interesting as well.

Overall great vibes at the place though! And would come back for the taco!

Mr Miyagj ticks all the boxes for great Japanese fusion. The taco and the dumplings are the standout go to dishes. It can get pretty busy so sometimes I have to wait a bit, but the service is always friendly and attentive. Mr Miyagi for the win!

Where do I start?!

Let’s start with the service. It was brilliant. The staff were friendly and explained the whole menu to us.

We had:
Edamame
Salmon nori taco
Prawn dog
Wagyu betal leaf
Prawn and ginger dumplings
Shitake dumplings
Handys roll

It was all so delicious! The food came out at different times but the time in between each was perfect. Gave you enough time to enjoy every dish.

The food was honestly perfection. Seasoned very well, balanced flavours and amazing textures.

The handys roll was my favourite. Best sushi I have ever had.

Be prepared to wait. But my god is it worth it

10/10

Had the best experience dining here with amazing food topped up with exceptional service. Came in on a Monday night and was seated instantly. Must get nori tacos and pork belly pancake. Everything else was really good too, we also got corn ball, happy’s hand roll, schnitty bao and prawn ginger dumplings. Each dish had a very unique element and twist to your ordinary food which makes it special. We were so stuffed in the end we couldn’t make room for dessert!!! I can’t fault anything with this restaurant besides the long queues during weekends (as what we’ve been told).
