This was a classy place. I recommend going here if you’re looking for a great restaurant on Chapel St. Great food. Nice hosts. Friendly atmosphere. The outstanding dish was the fried chicken dumplings, which had a drizzle of fish sauce. Go for the share meals.
Fantastic option for Asia fusion on Chapel street. The service is especially friendly and attentive and the food is delicious. Between two we ordered the pork, cabbage and garlic chive dumplings, the rockling tempura lettuce cups, the salt and pepper squid and the Burmese lamb with tomato and cloves. I really enjoyed all the dishes but the lettuce cups and the lamb were particular highlights.
I don’t often write ratings but feel compelled to do so after such exceptional service we received last night. Thank you to the lovely kiwi blonde lady who ensured we had a great flow of food and drinks and found a seat for us when everywhere else we tried in chapel st was less than accommodating. If only every restaurant has staff as friendly and attentive as her. The restaurant was very busy but we never felt we had to wait for anything.
The food was delicious too! The pork belly was the highlight and the Easy Tiger cocktail was the best I’ve had in a long time.
Interesting place. Came here on a quiet afternoon and the owner was super helpful and friendly. Had some wine and a number of small dishes all very tasty. Only downside servings were very small.
Located at the less busy end of Chapel st, most people would not notice about this place. Went with a group of friends, we shared 4 mains. My favourite was burmese lamb and beef. However pork belly skin was not crispy. Panko chicken got nice flavour but I think the size of chicken pieces were too big, almost taste like roasted chicken instead of fried as not enough panko to cover. For dessert, I like durian brulee, even my friend who is not a fan of durian like me enjoying this dish. We however were not impressed with the pandan panacotta as we did not taste pandan at all. Its a dimly lit restaurant (too dim for my liking, I barely see what i was eating) but has excellent and very friendly service. It's worth checking out especially with Entertainment book discount.
I’m not sure about the rest of the world, but in Melbourne Asian Fusion is all the rage at the moment. There’s a new fusion restaurant popping up every week. Some are so popular that you could be waiting a few hours to get a table. Down the Windsor end, just near the entrance of Chapel Street from the Princes Highway, you’ll find a little restaurant all on it lonesome — an underrated Asian Fusion restaurant called Susie Wong’s.
Oh thank goodness, a Chapel St diner that serves value for money deliciousness, with amazing customer service and that you don't have to wait three hours for, only to find you can't actually hear your partner speak. Susie Wong has the goods, is bursting with happy friendly vibes and great food. Tried the rockling and chicken wing appetizers, then pork belly and lamb curry mains. Lovely fluffy coconut rice. Would have loved to try to market fish of salmon, but alas dining in a party of two meant no room in our tums. Very generous serves. The manager is a gem, I'm sure you get the same welcome if you pop into her place on a Saturday night. A must try for the locals.
Too many restaurant these days do not understand the importance of first impressions. The hostess at this place is nothing short of amazing. After learning this was our first time (after several previous attempts to book at this place), the hostess, Kate, gave us her undivided attention. No pretentiousness, no "I'm better than you", Kate sat out table and engaged with us as if we had know each other for years.
The food here is nothing short of fantastic and Kate takes your overall experience to a whole new level.
A new regular for me.
A must try for anyone who lives around the area.
We rarely walk past the Union Hotel when deciding where to eat on Chapel St. and are glad that we ventured a bit further to visit Susie. Tasty treats and great food combinations await which are served with a heads-up that doggie-bags are available. Yep, the servings are large but don't detract from fabulous flavours. The knockouts for us were the Burmese Lamb & Panko Chicken. The staff just need to relax a bit so that we don't have three waitresses visit repeatedly - one per table, please.
Amazing great food went here with friends everyone loved it staff amazingly friendly would recommend to anyone great cocktails great food .....

Susie Wong’s yum cha offers a tasty selection of Asian-fusion flavours that are quite different to what you would expect from a traditional Chinese yum cha. With excellent service, it is a warm and welcoming space – ideal for sharing with friends over a few drinks.
Located at the entrance of Melbourne’s popular Chapel Street (from Dandenong Road side), is this South-East Asian inspired eatery. This small gem has a very trendy Asian interior which matches well with the neighborhood. I started off with the Oxtail dumplings (Ox Tail, Sarsparilla and Shichimi Pepper with Oxtail Jus), which manages to harmonize various elements with beautifully luscious meat. These aromatic signature bite-size savories pack a flavor punch with every bite!
Last night, a friend & I dined at Suzie Wong. I've walked past SW many times and never stopped in, but what a missed opportunity; SW is a little oasis in the desert! From the minute we walked in the door, the service staff were friendly and welcoming. The décor was fabulous, the music carefully chosen so as not to kill conversation and the food was to die for!!! Highly recommend the 8 course banquet & definitely don't go past the cocktails! :P
The Emerson has collaborated with nearby eatery Susie Wong to offer 'Winter in Asia', a six week-long series featuring a south-east Asian and Japanese inspired menu to The Emerson Rooftop. The space has been morphed into an Eastern wonderland, strung with festive lanterns, blossom, floral arrangements and silk draping.
My fifth visit-and it is better all the time.
Enjoy the big menu - and specials. Tonight we enjoyed Cambodian lamb curry and fab sorbets ( passion fruit outstanding)
Amongst the plethera of asian restaraunts on chapel, this one is up there. Though the plates are a tiny bit pricey in my opinion, they do make up for that in taste. I've had two experiences with service, one great, the other not so great, however it wouldn't stop me going back.
Every bite of every dish was simply delicious.
We couldn't get in at Mr Miyagi down the road so walked up here and we're very lucky to score a bar table.
We tried the oxtail dumplings, tempura rockling, school prawns, the Massamam curry and finally the chocolate fondant.
Wow, wow, wow. The Melbourne food scene is tough, the Chapel St food scene is even tougher. Susie Wong nails it!
The only minor issue is that service was a tad scatty but they were entirely aware of this (impressive given that there were only 3 wait staff during a totally full night) and very quickly offered up some complimentary wine.
Hooray. The Melbourne food scene good learn from this place!
Yum! The crispy prawns with the pickled nahm jim were delicious and very moreish. The lamb ribs and Burmese curry were good - an interesting mix of subtle flavours and spices. The only problem was the serves are quite small so you're left wanting more. A bit on the pricey side, but the menu is different and I would probably go back again if in the area to try the other dishes. Would be good if the lights weren't so dim so the menu was easier to read...
Had an amazing meal - the menu is really interesting at Suzie Wong. Started with the oxtail dumplings, the deep fried cuttlefish, lamb ribs and the goat curry and it was all fantastic. The durian brulee was really odd - I think some people would love it and others hate it. I just found the flavor really strange.
Superb. Amazing restaurant. Food is unbelievably good here. Right on the edge of Windsor and best of all, you can book a table. The scallop and goji berry dumplings, massaman curry, kimchi chicken all favourites as well as the crab fried rice. Charming service. Probably the best asian restaurant in Windsor. Quite underrated in my book - Highly recommended
This spot has settled in nicely at the Windsor End of Chapel St. The interior is striking and sets the scene perfectly for a relaxed dinner and drinks. In terms of their menu, there is something for everyone. Our table of 5 opted to share a range of dishes and I would recommend you do the same. There were many highlights with beef cheek, cuttlefish and massamum curry all top picks. The service out of the open kitchen is very efficient and we were never left wanting for our next dish. They have a specialist cocktail menu too that complements the Asian twist of the menu.
In a area that is rich with options for dinner, Suzi Wongs holds its head very high and should be on your priority list for a feed!
Delicious food & fantastic service. Having read reviews previous to dining here, I was delighted that it exceeded expectations. Our every need was catered to by a very friendly, informative & professional waitress. The food and wine was all delicious. I can't wait to return to try more food on the menu!
Don't understand the negative comments. A couple of dishes may have been ok but there were a few stand out dishes - beef ribs, mushroom salad and a special prawn & rice noodle dish.
Some great Flavours and clever ingredients. Bitter melon in the mushroom salad.
Service great and friendly. very fairly priced.
Don't think twice, give it a go !. The food, service and atmosphere could not be faulted. Not your standard Asian fare, but beautiful Asian flavours in interesting dishes. Great to share. The service was warm, friendly and very helpful. We ordered a few dishes, waited a while and ordered some more which was no problem, staff were patient and the pace was relaxing, didn't feel rushed to make food or drink decisions as sometimes happens in the more well known alternatives nearby, yet never were left waiting. A great night out and we'll be back. Good value too.
SUSIE WONG WINS APPLAUSE. My partner and I have been looking forward to dining at Susie's for some time. Well Susie gets the gong for wonderful polite, and attentive service along with fresh and delicious food that had been prepared with thought.
No try hards here, they are the real deal. Awesome and can't wait to return. We wish the owners all the very best and hope this gem of a restaurant keeps on shining for a long time to come.

Roll on Summer!. I dined here with a friend this week at Susie Wong’s, I had been once before and was looking forward to trying the new menu. We were seated quickly by a handsome young man when we arrived at 6pm to an empty restaurant, not that I find that off putting when dining so early, but by the time we left, 2 hrs later the restaurant was full.
Our meal got under way with a smart little starter, a relish of some sort on top of a thinly sliced disc of pineapple.. a succulent little number & very good start to the meal, I thought if they could keep these flavours up for the rest of the evening....we were going to be in for a treat!
My friend, who‘s first time it was, asked the waiter to help us navigate through the menu, all recommendations were sound so we went with his suggestions and we were off and running.
The blackened cuttlefish arrived and was cooked perfectly, crispy, hot and melt in the mouth, satiating my craving for slightly naughty fried food!
Next up was the Kingfish tartare on betel leaves, which was a beautifully presented light and delicate tartare that you scooped up with crispy betel leaves.
The Lily bud, shitake & bamboo shoot dumplings, I have had before and are a favourite!
For our last savoury course we went for the Fish special which was king fish fillet with a crust of chewy black rice in a fragrant and delectable curry sauce with a side of tangy and refreshing greens.... This dish was smashing, I could eat this over and over again!
Oh and the wine... My friend went for a Pinot Gris and I went for a recommendation, a little French Chablis, both so good we ordered the same again.
Lastly the sorbet trio to finish, very refreshing... But the coconut was out of this world!!! A seductive decadent little ball of silky smooth sorbet that you’ll want again and again.
Overall, we had a delicious meal, and left them a lovely tip, as our waiter was excellent, with my friend declaring that “she would be back”. Happy days!!!
Won't go wong here. The food is flavoursome, shareable and not too heavy. Our super fussy friend was speechless except when praising... A first:)
Lots of different tastes but complementary and not too super cheffy i.e. you don't leave here hungry if you have a few plates to sample what is on offer and it's not super $$$
It wasn't pumping when we arrived which raised some initial suspicions but filled up over the night . Actually could hear ourselves speak and could soak up the atmosphere rather than knock elbows with a stranger. That was nice for a change.
Staff were a little too attentive- could dial it down a notch but hey, better than being ignored which is what ive come to expect in many popular eateries.
Definitely will return to see how SW evolves ... suspect it's a slow burn rather than a hyped up flash in the pan. Definitely worth the trip to the quieter end of chapel away from the fadding crowd .
Dined tonight. Great food but the restaurant was so cold.
Food and service fantastic. Definitely be returning. Loved the blackened cuttlefish and the Fish with the Laska sauce.....
Absolutely amazing food and service. The best dumplings I've had! Love the creative menu and charismatic staff.
Brilliant. Brilliant food for $55ph option. fantastic service. will be back
Amazing service, fantastic food and the bartender makes a mean espresso martini with frangelico!! Will definitely be visiting again :)
Really unique, desert is a must - particularly the durian tart. The food we had was absolutely delicious, and was presented beautifully. My favourite was the goat curry, very unique, great curry flavours, the goat was tender and melt in your mouth. I also liked the dumplings. However, the must have is the amazing deserts. The durian tart with jasmin sorbet is literally to die for. The Kanom Babib is just as good. Yum Yum Yum. This is the kind of place you want to go back for more and more because it is just so different. Im excited to go back and try some more of the beautiful creations.
Delicious spur of the moment surprise. Walking in at 6.45, three of us were happily seated in a flash on Friday night. We'd never been before, and in fact had just run across the road to get to Susie Wong's as it was the first place we'd seen. A wonderfully competent and friendly waitress (maitre d' ?) was happy to pick for us as we'd asked, our only request that we be out in an hour for a cinema booking.
The kingfish sashimi served do it yourself style on lightly tempura-battered betel leaf was delightful - coconutty, creamy, and light on the crunchy leaf, which held it together for the 2.5 bites it took to demolish it. Followed up by a rich oxtail braise inside a dumpling and some cuminy, curryish crunchy lamb ribs. Mmmm. Off to a great start.
Some fluffy white rice and a thick but not heavy goat curry then a quick dessert of durian tart. Will definitely be back - when we're not in a hurry next time.
I think this place is pretty awesome. It steers clear of all the cliches delivering great flavours and the unexpected. Don't be put off by the idea of the Durian tart with coconut sorbet. I reckon the coconut sorbet here beats Longrain infact.
Great food, great service,. We had the kingfish - very fresh well flavoured kingfish however the betel leaves seemed to have been pre fried and a tad stale.
We had all the dumplings , all very tasty and fresh. The oxtail dumplings were incredibly meaty and rich.
The goat curry was tender and bursting with the flavours of a perfectly fresh homemade curry paste, the Milawa chicken was so succulent and well marinated , accompanied by a piquant side dish of kimchi pickles. the fried rice with crab was unbelievably good with actual chunks of crab you could taste, and the seasonal vegetables a great introduction to kohlrabi
The highlight was the mushroom and bitter melon salad, a perfect mix of savoury, sweet, sour, crunchy.
Could not fault the place.
This is the new best thing in Windsor. Great staff awesome food and great vibe

First thing everyone notices is decore. Simple, relaxed and comfortable is how I would describe Susie Wong.
We couldn't choose between so many options so decided to do a 'chefs choice banquet'. We were presented with a range of incredible flavours and amazing service to match! I would absolutely recommend it to everyone!
Amazing Modern Asian. Went there just after they opened, professional and helpful staff able to recommend, decided to follow every single recommendation, loved every single of them... Highlights were definitely scallops and ox tail dumplings, the lot enjoyed with a delicious valpolicella... Well done Susie Wong, will definitely be back for more!
We went for Saturday lunch with open minds and asked for advice from helpful staff as we made out choices.
Everything we ordered was delicious with my personal favourite being the scallop starter.
Reasonably priced for food which has a high end feel to it, I will definitely be returning.
We took a leap of faith and let the staff decide what we ate.
Everything was amazing! I particularly enjoyed the crispy blackened cuttlefish and the kingfish tartare on crispy beetle leaf.
The staff were friendly and attentive. The stream of food was quick and constant.
Happy to make this a regular haunt.
Great menu, totally unique and a pleasant surprise. Staff were professional and the food was brought out quickly. Will definitely be back!
Impressive fit-out, fun staff & great food. Standout dishes were the crispy burnt cuttlefish and the red curry lamb ribs.
Great food and a great location if you are heading to Red Stitch. No keg beers but good range of Asian labels plus some locals. Calamari was beautifully cooked and tasty. The roti is delicious and we tried the fish and tempe dishes. Staff are friendly and attentive. Relaxed atmosphere with options to be in or out.
Amazing warm customer service, and beautiful food. Strongly recommend the warm mushroom salad, honey srirarcha chicken wings and the lemon grass beef. All were amazing!! Definitely making a return appearance here
Really really good food, and surprisingly uncrowded the night we had dinner there, given there were 45-90 minute waits at all the other places. Had the oxtail dumplings in master stock (so good!), fried tofu with bean paste, eggplant and nashi pear salad. All amazing. Cocktail selection was fab too. Will be back!
This truly is the neighbourhood gem! From the moment we walked into the warm and cosy room we were treated like part of the family. The service is attentive, familiar and genuine. (A rare find these days).
The food is Asian style with modern flare, and does not disappoint. Beautiful aromas and flavours make each dish a standout and also makd it impossible to pick a favourite. We can wait to get back and taste them all.
