This place was AWESOME - it was pretty quiet on a rainy Sunday, but still 10 people in and only 3 staff, one on the bar, one in the kitchen and our lovely waitress Gwen from Belgium. They really derived on everything, the place itself has a great intimate vibe with beautiful decor, nice music, nice candles and a fab menu. I would definitely go back -what they say they are about is what they are - great food, great drinks and friendly faces. Especially after some recent disappointing outings on service recently - this place did it effortlessly with love and care and made you relaxed and welcome form the moment you walked in - all the food was delicious!!!
I'm not usually a cocktail drinker- but I'm converted after visiting Saint Lucia. The Orange Street cocktail was amazing, the rose sangria is divine and thd food.....sensational. Such a great place for a group catch up and they were playing the BEST range of music. I had such a lovely time at Saint Lucia and can't wait to take more friends there.
A couple of my friends and I decided to go here later on a Saturday night. We called five minutes before we arrived to see if there would be any room, and they had one table left outside for us. The service was very friendly, and the server was good at giving suggestions. We shared the Mac n cheese donuts, which were absolutely amazing! Then we each got our own Kokomo Kones, which were also delicious! Two questionable dishes that ended up working so well! Likely one of the best meals I've had in Melbourne - I'll definitely be back soon!!
We were very pleased with our experience at Saint Lucia. Excellent service from friendly staff, very accomodating. The food was great, especially the starters! Would highly recommend Saint Lucia to anyone who wants to try some different food!
Delicious food. Beautiful decor. Friendly and attentive service. Must try kokomo cone, ribs, donuts and the corn bread!! Came for family dinner and everyone loved it. It was priceless to see my dad who is notoriously fussy enjoy his first taste of Caribbean cuisine!
Crazy delicious food with a vibrant cocktail vibe! Do yourself a favour and order the Mac & Cheese donuts. Mouthwatering cheese dipping sauce, super cute presentation and dangerously moorish. Can’t go past the charred corn as a side. Fun and tasty cocktail menu. The staff were welcoming and patient (even when busy) and had great recommendations. Looking forward to eating here again. Might be my new local!
What a rare great find of delicious Caribbean food! The deep fried Mac and cheese donuts are absolutely yum! The jerk chicken was super moist! Will have to ask for more jerk spice next time! Great friendly helpful service. Can’t wait to come back for more!
We loved our time at this restaurant! The owner was lovely and super helpful with selecting menu items. The restaurant is well fitted out and very unique to Chapel Street. All food here was super delicious and we will certainly be going back. The Caribbean menu theme was something we had never tried before and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love Saint Lucia’s individuality in regards to mismatching crockery, glasses ect - very obscure but works amazing well for the vibe. The varying heights of seating made a small space feel much larger than it is.
It’s hard to find Caribbean food that is truly authentic, however Saint Lucia excels in providing flavour and variety. Jerk chicken is highly recommended! The accompanying garnishes complimented the Chicken exceptionally well. Service friendly and food came out quickly.
Serious Chapel Street favourite contender, great stuff from these guys!
4.5/5
Carribean food – now this is a cuisine that I’ve never tried before. The interior design and decor in this restaurant are detailed – from the decorative framed walls to the hanging bits of warm greenery; it gives off a chilled, old fashioned yet tropical vibe.
For starters, we ordered the Crispy soft shell crab and Chorizo + Goats cheese cigars. The cigars were quite pleasant, it had crispy layers of pastry encasing the cheesy filling
Decor and ambiance is good and decided to come back again after having a great dinner the previous year.
The cigars and soft shell crab tacos were nice and the plantain chips were a fave!
Mac and cheese donuts were really tasty.👍🏻
The jerk chicken on this occasion wasn’t as good as I remembered, unfortunately.
Decided to order the only dessert on the menu (as I’m a huge sweeth tooth/ dessert lover!) but it fell well short of what was listed on the menu. It wasn’t presented as well as it could and was more of a jumbled mess that was difficult to share with all the ingredients hidden inside the cone.
There was mostly whipped cream then any of the other ingredients listed- the ratio was off in terms of flavour balance and I even had to ask if there was any ice cream included.. wasn’t worth the calories or the price 🙁
The drinks and cocktails were good as too was the service.🍹
+: Ribs and rum (what a combo!), Friendly and attentive service
-: the sundae could do with a better serving of ice cream, as it was mostly filled with whipped cream
Such a cosy little gem on Chapel st. Fantastic flavours and great menu selection. Tapas style, so great for sharing dishes with friends. Staff are super friendly and offered great advice on the menu and advised us that we were about to order way too much food for 3 people. Will definitely be back again!
Loved the service and food here! Everything came out promptly, was delicious and our server made us feel so welcomed! They also had a back courtyard that would be great for the summer! My suggestion for management is to fix your toilet locks! 🙈😬 Apart from that, a great vibe!
The food here was delicious! A Caribbean themed menu with modern twists and fun options. I couldn't help but sneak bites of my friend's dishes, the deep fried Mac and cheese bites were a fav and my soft shell crab taco was a stand out too. The jerk chicken was spicy, so be careful if you are not used to it. Service was so friendly and attentive. We came as a group of 9 and we all left happy and very well-fed. Will be back!
We went their last night for my dad's birthday. It was... AMAZING. First of all, the staff were so nice and let us bring a cake in and added sparklers and even sang a bit. Customer service on point.
The food was so delicious, their ribs are to die for. I recommend the chicken jerk, plantain chips, macaroni doughnuts, and rum!
The restaurant has a great atmosphere too, with great music. Loved the dancehall tracks.
10/10 recommended.
Food was quaint and tasty but it's more about the "trendy factor" great if you're purely after something a bit different though if you want a good meal and atmosphere there are plenty more at that price point. Price was medium to high. Considering what was provided I think value wasn't great. But staff were very nice.
Amazing service, atmosphere and food outta this world!
We rocked up on their first birthday. Balloons and decorations everywhere. Each balloon had a piece of paper attached with a mystery prize written on it.
We got a complimentary cider and Hawaiian beer.
The waitress also gave us free watermelon mojito jelly shots which tasted like cocktail heaven.
Such lovely and genuine staff who made us feel more than at home. We will be back SOON. A wonderful experience all round. 🤗👍🏽
