Review Hoo Haa Bar - Windsor

James Milburn
Came here a few times in the last month and have had a great experience both times. The cocktails are great, especially during the half price happy hour on Friday nights! Sadly, and I feel like this might be due to their location not having much of a street presence, they don't get particularly busy during their happy hour times, which means the vibes aren't as good as you might like. However, you make the most of it and enjoy the great $10/11 cocktails with your friends while they play good tunes over the speakers. Also, the edamame is awesome.

Did the bottomless dinner and drinks twice in the last 2 weeks! The only bottomless dinner I could find in Melbourne so it's rare find. So worth the $59, both times I couldn't finish all the food and the frozen margaritas are included in the package which makes it so even more worth it. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the chicken baos and Mac and Cheese squares . Definitely will be back

Had the bottomless yum cha, food was all amazing and cocktails were spot on. Happy hour went from 4-8pm so had great priced drinks. Highly recommend the Mac and cheese squares and chicken bao! Staff were also excellent.

Hosted a fantastic 40th Birthday Party at Hoo Haa. Paul and Mal were great to deal with and the night was a huge success. Would highly recommend for any type of event.

Daddy, dad, camo, otherwise known as Cameron. Good to the gals, good to the manager 😏 thank you for the incredible service and amazing happy hour. We will be back and we will achieve Kid Laroi on those speakers ❀

1st visit last week for dinner. Such a quaint little place on the 2nd floor with a cosy outdoor area. I love it! It's a perfect place to relax with a drink or 2 or 10. The food was delicious (even though we targeted all the starters coz our small bellies wouldn't have fit in the mains)! I will definitely go there again!

Love this rooftop bar in Windsor. It’s colourful and fun and has an amazing vibe. Cocktails are delicious... paired with food from miss kuku = winner of a night.

Great little place hidden on top of a relatively concealed staircase. Once you climbed it you are faced with an incongruous sight on your right: the place known as Hoo Haa. Friendly and playful staff, quality wines and beer with good cocktail options and excellent atmosphere. There is also a dance floor and a DJ booth. Prices are reasonable.

6 of us came for the $25 bottomless dinner. Amazing deal. The food selection was very good, from small snack serves to larger plates and also burgers/ burritos. We ordered many of the smaller dishes and they were consistently good. Service was very attentive and there is a nice trendy vibe. If you like food and a chat, best to go early as it starts to get quite noisy after 8pm. Everyone enjoyed our night and will definitely be back.

I LOVE THEIR OKONOMIYAKI WAFFLE FRIES!<br/>There. Let's start with that. I love waffle fries in general but adding okonomiyaki sauce is a great idea.<br/><br/>They also partner with Zomato Gold so you can get 2+2 Drinks and they do make a great cocktails. We went to a bar area this time so didn't get to try a lot of food but the one we had which was the fries and vs I was fantastic. Great atmosphere. The place is very cool. I will be back to try more.

We came here on a sunny afternoon looking for some drinks, and were lured in by Zomato Gold's 2 for 2 drinks. The venue itself is quite large, with a cool interior; but being an afternoon, everyone was out the back in the upstairs roof top beer garden. The vibe was buzzing, and we were lucky enough to get a table as the place soon became packed.<br/><br/>We ordered our drinks, settling on margheritas; and service was pretty quick and friendly. They brought the cocktails outside to us, and the waitress was lovely. The cocktails were very refreshing, and just how a margherita should be... nice and sharp.<br/><br/>Hoo Haa obviously gets popular later at night, and I can see why, as it's a fun venue. I found it to be a great spot for a few afternoon drinks, and judging by the crowd, so do a lot if other people.

Hoo Haa legit has the best happy hour in Melbourne. The 2 for 1 cocktails are so delicious! Also the new menu is amazing- the waffle fries are to die for 😋😋 <br/>Tip- make sure you book online prior to get a seat!

Great range of interesting cocktails. Food supplied from their kitchen Miss Kuku is also really good. Tried the chicken wings, cauliflower and okonomiyaki wedges which were all fantastic.

Hoo Haa bar was absolutely amazing! I went with a group of 25 friends for a graduation dinner and we got the $55 deal that included bottomless dinner and drinks. The waiters just kept on bringing out food, and the food was beautiful! Absolutely delicious! Whenever we wanted another drink, they didn’t hesitate to bring us another one and didn’t stinge on the amount of alcohol they put into the drinks. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough! It was amazing.

Zomato gold brought this bar to my attention as I was in the chapel street area. Came upstairs and was quite impressed with the ambience. The place looked clean, pretty edgy and music was good (Rap music hooray!) we ordered beers and gin and soda water. Had a good time - I didn’t have to shout and that was a big plus for me. Drinks were just okay. Beer portions were huge. Would be back - especially since I paid $20 for 4 drinks!

Recently celebrated my 30th at Hoo Haa’s and couldn’t be happier with venue, food and overall service from the team. Venue manager Paul was an absolute legend to deal with - easy to communicate with and went above and beyond to help with food arrangements (which were all spot on! Guests loved the canapĂ©s!), space requirements and ensuring a seamless night. Staff were also super friendly and know how to make a killer espresso! Thanks for a great night Hoo Haa Bar! :)

I haven't eaten here, have only been here for drinks and a dance.  I have been here many times and always have a great time.  Mixed crowd and more of a younger age group but nevertheless still a good time.<br/><br/>I would give this a 3.5 star rating but now with the new star settings I am unable to do so.<br/><br/>Cocktails were really good, bar staff helpful and friendly.  Interior of the bar is nice with a lot of seating area and a small dance floor.  Good drinks menu too.

The staff were friendly and the place is fun however the food was very sub standard. The menus is a tick a box room service style which was confusing and easy to double up orders by mistake. The menu was equally confusing by having different food truck dishes but only limited ones available defending on which day of the week it was. Quality wise, actual food truck food is better than this food. This menu was cheap and great price however every dish had an optional extra - why not just include it???. The food was hit and miss. Came to our table slowly and a bit cold. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

I really enjoy my visits to Hoo Haa Bar. The venue has a laid back vibe and the beer garden is good.<br/>Happy hour is great value for money. The Cock of The Rock cocktail & Espresso Martinis are really nice. I highly recommend trying the Cheeseburger Dumplings - delicious.
Good Food Good Mood
Came here for a birthday and enjoyed a selection of canapés including arancini, rice paper rolls and sliders. We then sampled a variety of items from Kuku Mama (Hoo Ha's sister restaurant located in the same space) the best of which were the sushi, baos and tacos. Pretty good Asian flavours for such reasonable prices. Probably not somewhere I'd usually think to go (the name alone perturbed me) but I was pleasantly surprised with the cool interiors, excellent cocktails and delicious food. Wouldn't actually mind going back to check out the outdoor courtyard during the daytime. <br/>Don't judge a book by its cover (or title)

Each visit seems to vary a little, the flavours and serving size. It got to the point where one wing and tiny drumstick was considered half a chicken - more like half a pigeon! We haven't been back since, but take a gamble for Cheap Tuesday and you'll be alright.

First time I came here they had good dumplings. Second time I brought some friends plus one that had just flown in from the UK. I had limited amount of cash and was paying for someone who had forgotten their wallet. Went to the bar and asked the price of 2 drinks and what beer they had, little Italian man with accent speaking back to me over loud music - hard to hear or understand what he was saying. Because I was asking too many questions apparently he assumed I was too intoxicated and grabbed a bottle of water and said how about you drink this and walked off. Extremely rude and judgemental. I was definitely sober enough to be enquiring about the cost of drinks, I stood at the bar until his workmate finally served me. Little Italian man, shame on you and your people skills. Won't be back! Neither will the big group I brought with me, ruined our night! Lucky liquor across the road is friendly and fun!

Details: Not bad for a boogy to some known tunes usually. The main thing I like about this bar is the smokers area honestly. Could hang up there for ages. LOVE THAT IT'S FREE ENTRY 😇<br/><br/>Service: Standard! Full capacity was reached too early last night
Brungiel
Not a bad place but not much really going for it either. Drinks are reasonably priced but the selection of beer is standard. Bar food is ok but nothing special. Outdoor area is small and cozy, but fills up with smoke from BBQ.

With bangin’ beats, an outdoor courtyard and free entry, Hoo Haa is one of my favourite dance floors south of the river. Cosy booths, good music and ok priced drinks sweeten the deal.

Happy Hour x2 - enough said! <br/>2 for 1 cocktails every night of the week - it's a budgeter's dream!!!!<br/>The food is fab as well - in particular the cheeseburger dumplings are a great treat!!

Early dinner on Saturday night<br/><br/>COELIACS/GLUTEN/ALLERGIES - Menu is labeled, decent amount of GF options.<br/>  <br/>TASTE/FOOD - Overall a bit on the bland side. Fat duck steamed bun tasty and worth getting. Deep south steamed buns were like dry KFC chicken without all the herbs and spices, the coleslaw and bun didn't add or meld together in the dish. Curries were very low on ingredients - more liek a chunky soup (they may have changed this since though as we did give friendly feedback about this to the friendly waiter when he asked)<br/><br/>VALUE- if you come in during happy hour you can also get cheap drinks with your dinner :). price was acceptable but on the expensive side for the food<br/><br/>SERVICE- Friendly staff. Getting drinks was a bit hit or miss - even though it was early being in a bar/club ordering drinks was a bit tough if you couldn't hail staff for table service<br/><br/>DECOR- Its Hoo Haa :) nice enough, keep in mind it is a bar/club so would be a bit noisy if you were wanting a quiet dinner etc. (no loud music but general people noise)<br/><br/>WORTH GOING BACK? - Maybe, would be a good place to have some food during happy hour to kick off a night out etc
EJA
Food here is yummy! Good drinks selection also. Cool vibe. Menu is cheap and delicious. I recommend this place for a night where you may not have the hugest budget but still want to get some share plates between friends and try a bit of a few things.
Liveeatdrinklovefood
I love Kuku Mama at Hoo Haa. Bite size options so you can get all the food you want in the one place. We had Mac and Cheese squares, Cheeseburger dumplings, Teriyaki Chicken Dumplings with twisties, Fried Chicken Bao - Make them yourself 10/10! Soft and Hard shell tacos - fish and chicken. Not many places you can get your hands on a hard shell taco! Cheap and delicious. Definitely will be there again and again..
Steph
Had the chicken Bao and chicken ribs, both were delicious! All of us enjoyed everything we ordered. Food came out pretty fast and the service was great! Good for sharing and price was decent.
Lanaa
Im just amazed how I have never been to this place before! The coolest interior evaaa... They served us food even though it was after 10:30 .. One of the best crowds i have seen in melbourne ! Will be back soon

Nothing like mixing policy with food. But here we go: Urbanspoon is about finding great food. Everyone should be able to find exactly what they are looking for...

Tasty. Love the cocktails especially the Short Legged Ground Roller. Staff are great too!

<br/>I wouldn't have thought of eating at Hoo Haa before, but would go back again if we were in the area and fancied some Italian food.
Tom
Great food really friendly staff highly recommend going but f##k me was it over staffed. It's not often I go out to dinner and think a place has too many people working there. We had our plates taken away twice before we had finished out meal, they walk past literally every minute or so and make u feel so uncomfortable (we were in a booth). Still a cool place though

Awesome place to dine and have a few drinks.. I've been coming here for about a year now and the new concept of their little sister food truck KukuMama serves up some really nice dishes that just are a treat to eat.<br/>I love the staff and how friendly they all are as well as the decor and atmosphere.<br/>I am introducing a friend to this place on Saturday night for him to have a great experience like I always do here.<br/>Kudos to the chef on all the hard work and great food that is served up.

My favourite local!!! Great service, great cocktails, great food.. I've been a regular at Hoo Haa since 2008, and visit at least once a week for drinks and dinner with my mates.<br/>I have no interest in people who judge a place by visiting once and claim it's 'too busy' or the crowd is 'too gen-y', because they're not a serious regular like I am, and let's face it; crowds/patrons change all the time no matter where you go.<br/><br/>My friends and I always have courteous and attentive service, and are so well known by all the amazing staff, that they know our favourite drinks off by heart and how we like our steaks done ... to the point where we don't even have to say it anymore. Thursday night is steak night, and even now I am still amazed that every single Thursday we have different/interesting sides to go with our main.<br/><br/>On the very rare occasion that our cocktail order is delayed on a busy night (we are human after all), a member of the team will shout us a free round of shots or a discount on our bill with a big smile. They go above and beyond what is necessary, and that's why we always go back. <br/><br/>Hoo Haa seamlessly blends after work/casual drinks to a corporate dinner function to a club with DJ. It's an icon of the area, and I can't imagine a week without it. Love the brand spanking new couches too!!!

Very BLAND Asian food. Not worth the price. Waitress was lovely but too many mistakes with wrong orders being delivered & some meals didn't arrive at all. Had to ask for salt & pepper & soy sauce to improve the Barramundi curry- there were only 5pieces of fish in there each only 2cm thick cubes- quite appauling portion size really... Place is really only good for a drink & a dance- too many drunk Gen Ys... 'Busboys' kept trying to take our cocktails away- still 1/2 full!!! They need re- training

The worst bar service we have received. On Saturday night my friends and I received some of the poorest bar service we have ever encountered. We ordered three drinks- a vodka sunrise and two vodka sodas. The bartender placed three drinks on the bar directly in front of the three of us- two of them were vodka sodas and one was pink and orange and had a chunk of watermelon on the top. No, sunrises don't usually have watermelon in them (a fact that the bar manager YELLED at us repeatedly later on), but given that it was placed directly in front of us and was with our other two drinks, we thought it was pretty safe to assume it was a garnish no different to putting a bit of lime in some vodka. We had not been to this bar before, and a lot of different bars have their own ways of garnishing drinks. <br/>My friend took a bite out of the watermelon which was in what she THOUGHT was her drink. The bar manager then pulled the drink out of her hand AS WELL as taking a vodka soda off my other friend who hadn't done anything and was drinking from HER OWN drink. The bar manager than proceeded to yell at my friends and refuse to serve them for the rest of the night, accusing my friend of "stealing" someone else's drink and being too intoxicated. When we explained our mistake to the bar manager that there had been an honest mistake and that no, we were not drunk, she continued to argue with us. My friend offered to pay for the drink she had mistakenly picked up, but was still refused service. <br/>I asked the bar manager what exactly the issue was, at which point she walked around the bar to come and talk to me face to face. I thought we might get an apology for her poor service given that my friends and I had repeatedly apologised for our misunderstanding. Instead, we received more yelling and plenty of aggressive hand gestures. At this point our issue wasn't the fact that my sober friend had been refused service, it was the way this situation had been handled by your bar manager. "If your friend isn't sober enough to know that a sunrise doesn't come with watermelon, then she's not sober enough get served," she said. I assured her that my friend was not drunk, at which point the bar manager rolled her eyes at me and said "I never said she was drunk, babe." Please do not talk down to your customers like they are stupid. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't calling her "not sober enough" suggest that you think she is drunk? It seemed that once the bar manager realised that we were not drunk and perhaps she was being a bit too aggressive, she back tracked and said she wouldn't serve my friend for another hour, after originally saying she wouldn't serve her for the rest of the night. Again, when I asked her why she had changed her tune, she talked down to me like I was stupid.<br/>We completely understand why the bar manager took the first drink off my friend. However, what we do NOT understand is why a drink was taken off my friend who hadn't done anything wrong and why we were spoken to so aggressively. Had we been intoxicated or abusive towards you then your behaviour would have been justified. We were not drunk, we tried to rationalise with you, yet we were still spoken to in one of the rudest and most condescending manners I have ever had the misfortune of coming across. I would have loved to have spoken to someone higher up on the evening, however the bar manager informed me "I am the bar manager babe, so good luck taking this any higher."<br/>We will not be returning.

This is a haunt for us and even though our meals were bloody great for the value it's looking a bit shabby. Torn, ripped and worn couches were the first thing that caught my eye when being led to our usual booth. My seat was covered in a Heshin type fabric which kept catching on my leggings - I know its petty but with the new comp that's sprung up I think it's time to spend a little cash on the aesthetics to keep the locals happy.

Nice place to eat, good atmosphere and service. Not a very good gluten free menu. The atmosphere is great, the booths and bench seating is comfortable and cozy. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The food was good but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of gluten free options. If there were more GF options available, I would not hesitate to come back. :)

You simply don't hang up on customers who lost something in your restaurant. I lost my stuff, sure I want to call them and check if it was still there. No way I was implying that their staff took it, but all I got was a rude hang up. Thanks. great service
Nat
A little disappointing. My friends and I went to Hoo Ha last night to try out their steak night. I decided to mix it up and order the calamari. Worst decision. It was pretty substandard, very greasy and topped with an oily salad complete with smearings of some kind of mayo (probably to disguise the quality of the calamari). My friends thought the steaks were okay and generally you don't complain when you're paying $15. Nice atmosphere at Hoo Ha, $20 cocktail jugs but won't be rushing back to eat there anytime soon.
Christina
Fantastic service!. Went here with a few girlfriends last night and was very impressed with the service, drink and food! We felt so welcome and relaxed, it was the perfect place to catch up over a few cocktails and meals. The bread they served us while we waited for our meal was amazing.. I'm pretty sure it was baked there!
Spoon Fiend
Walking up the stairs off Chapel and into Hoo Haa, you're met with a seductive ambience unmatched by similar venues in the area. We took a table outside, where the Mediterranean feel is continued. My friends and I shared the Parma, calamari, ravioli, mussels and had a few fried bocconcini balls each. I kicked off festivities with a 'Musky Duck' cocktail recommended by one of the wait staff. Everyone who saw us or served us was attentive and cheerful (a welcome change from a lot of the snooty staff running similarly hip venues in the area!) I was thoroughly impressed. We left feeling satisfied and happy with our choice. <br/><br/>I didn't even mind or feel worried picking up the bill - regardless of price the experience was worthwhile.
Tim
Awesomely rare. I have found a little gem of Melbourne that not only has great food, but also displays world-class customer service. I certainly hope that everyone reading this will have the pleasure of meeting the fantastic staff and enjoys the chef's great achievements (especially the steak)!
Steve
We had a work do tonight. th.... We had a work do tonight. As soon as the bill was paid the bar manager abused us then poured our drinks on the floor!! Unbelievable, everyone left. I cannot believe they hired her. Power trip.

Love this place! Friendly staff and a delightful atmosphere will greet you and the Parma night alone will have you going back for more (maybe even weekly!)
Sean Madler-Edwards
Great food, great drinks and terrific atmosphere :) definitely coming back

Was there last night for dinner and loved it so much that we didn't leave until they closed! Staff were really friendly, food was great, all in all it was a really good night out. Will definitely be returning!

Regular Parma eater here and they are always amazing, but finally tried something different. The risotto was so amazing!

The staff were incredibly rude and did not seem to be quite "all there"<br/>stood at an empty bar waiting for service to the be addresses by the bartender with "what did you want? a drink?"<br/>the $30 minimum eftpos is also ridiculous. very disappointing.

Great place for pre dinner cocktails. Wet at around 6:30 on a Saturday night for a few cocktails. 2 for 1, great value. The bar has an intimate atmosphere and there was plenty of comfy chairs to sit on. Didnt stay for dinner but will definitely do so next time!
Emma Yeo
Amazing customer service & delicious food. I just had dinner at Hoo Haa and given the events this could have been an awful review but is actually a great one! My partner & I both ordered the Thursday steak special, which after arriving over half an hour (at 6:30pm mind you, not a busy time) the steak was almost cold! We were starving so ate it up anyway. When asked how the meal was I told the truth not expecting much from it, but lo and behold the manager (or owner) came over to let us know that he wouldn't be charging us for the meals as that is not how they operate! The food was delicious despite the steak being luke warm so we were totally shocked and appreciative! I would have walked away probably vowing to never go there again, but instead due to this awesome example of great customer service we will be going back next Thursday for the same again (although hopefully hot haha!) :) Thanks Hoo Haa! See you next time.
MrFOOD
MrFOOD says yes!!!. Me and MrsFOOD decided to venture into the hidden gem we now know as Hoo Haa Bar one Friday night. The best cooked steak I have had in a long time & I like my steak! Polenta chips + chilli jam = pure genius! Do yourself a favour and eat here! (very cheap for the high quality dished up) 5 STARS!
Jack
Amazing bar!. This place truly is wonderful, hidden away from Chapel Street with great service, great food and really friendly staff! Good music too, definitely recommend!
DD
A hidden gem! Went for dinner on a Saturday night, were seated in a cute little booth. Appetizers were cheap and delicious, we had Parmas for main, fair to say they were the best Parmas we'd ever had. Drinks were also reasonably priced so we walked out of their satisfied, full and with a buzz. Highly recommended, definitely on the favorites list!
Philip
HooHaa is had it!. This place use to be a great venue, it has gone BACKWARDS!! Service is sloppy, the finer details have been lost and the quality of food has diminished!! However the beer was cold! I dont think I will ever return for a meal, but maybe a beer.
Tyson
We waited 1hr for a main.
Sisi
Love it!. Love this place, great atmosphere and lovely staff. Haven't yet been for food but plan to soon :)

Great place for every occassion. Hoo Haa never disappoints for me. Every time i'm in the Chapel street area I try and stop in for one of there super parma's or pizza and a beer. I've never found it stuffy or had issues on the door but find it's a nice relaxed atmosphere, especially on a week night :) For my Birthday a few years ago my partner even organized a surprise pizza party on the back deck in the afternoon. They were so great they even let us in a little early so we had the deck to ourselves for a while. Your staff are lovely and I really don't know what all the "hoo haa" is about. A BIG thanks from a happy customer!
Sophilia
Just went to Hoo haa to try their Wagyu beef pie YUMMY! I'm a big pie fan, and the fact that there was mash potatoes and smashed peas made it even more of a meal. I couldn't believe how much you get for the price Definitely value for money! You know I'll be coming back for more!

Best Night Out on Chapel Street. I have been eating and drinking (perhaps a little excessively at times!!) at this restaurant and bar for over five years and can say it is always a fantastic night out. There is not another place near Chapel Street that can boast tasteful ambience, fine food and delicious cocktails - my tip is always the Espresso Martini, but be on the look out for the knowledgeable staff's recommendations. It also swings easily from restaurant to bar to club of a Friday and Saturday night with good music and a packed dance floor.
Kiara
Never again. Hoo Haa bar... <br/><br/>Advised my beautiful, gay, neatly dressed, sober friend that she was not allowed in essentially because she was a lesbian. She was told to go home and put a dress on amongst other hateful comments as she showed up holding her girlfriends hand. This boils my blood and I will tell anyone and everyone to avoid this place at all costs. This is 2012. This behaviour will not be tolerated by me and I hope by the majority of others. Hoo haa you can start with taking responsibilty for your actions. An apology. You cannot treat people this way. The gay community and its supporters are large and a force to be reckoned with. We will not tolerate this sort of discrimination. This is not the first time this has happened at your venue. Delete all the comments you want but we will not be silenced. Word of mouth is a powerful tool. No matter how good your food is, your atmosphere is homophobic and belongs in another day and age.
Michelle
Bad Service!. I went to Hoo Haa with my husband last week, I have to say that the staff was pretty damn rude and the service slow. The food was Ok, but Ok at best.
Tash
I would like to thank you for an amazing weekend. Saturday night was truly memorable. My personal highlight was my best friend being refused entry as she was not appropriately dressed. Apparently jeans & shoes are ok for your male clientele but not the women that frequent your bar. When your security guards were asked as to what she would need to be wearing to be allowed in, she was advised maybe if she went home & put on a dress they would think about letting her in. <br/>This wonderful discriminatory experience was closely followed by a conversation I had with your on-duty manager who, after blubbering around not being able to give me any reason as to why exactly my friend was being refused entry, she advised me we should consider returning on a Wednesday night when you are much more "liberal" with who you allow through your doors. <br/>So thank you Hoo Haa for truly making this night one that will stay with myself & MANY of my friends (& their friends... & their friends) forever. Thanks to the powers of social media you will be glad to know you don't need to invest any energy in changing your discriminatory ways. Please proceed with business as usual. The word is being spread wide & far. ALL people (male, female, gay & straight) who understand that discrimination has NO place in today's society will never be stepping foot in your establishment again.<br/>Thank you again.
Cath
I went to Hoo Haa's for dinner last night and really liked it. Great service, very attentive without being crowding. We had two mains , fish of the day (barramundi) and gnocchi. Both delicious and good size meals, and reasonably priced.. Will definitely go back again.
Simon Hunter
Really nice waiter. Really average food. Had the steak. Very bland. Did not finish it.
Jocelyn Hunter
Went last night for birthday dinner. The waiter Calum was really friendly and attentive. We had Jamon and cheese to kick things off which was tasty. Unfortunately the mains were bad. I had a steak which was bland, smothered in an equally bland grey sauce and accompanied by two sad kipfler potatoes. Hard to find average food in Melbourne these days, and this was pretty average. We didn't eat our mains and were given some nice dessert wine as compensation.

I know what all the Hoo Haa is about. So ive never been to Hoo Haa before but now I know why my friends have been talking about it. <br/><br/>Went to Hoo Haa over the weekend with a group of 10 girls. We chose a delicious range of food off the menu including the fish of the day (a salmon), the sirloin steak and a prosciutto pizza just to name a few. <br/><br/>All the staff were super friendly including our waiter who did an amazing job, Nick. We finished up our meals, had some lovely cocktails to sip on after and hit the late night dance floor for a good end to a great night. Love it and recommend the socks off it.

Awesome x10. Ate here on the weekend with a group of friends. The food is suprisingly great. Never knew this place did food until now. I had the pie which is actually a pie(not a half arsed attempt of a bowl, filling and pastry on top) So damn good i will be back for sure. Everyone at the table was also impressed with the quality of there meals and the effiency of the wait staff and the kitchen getting all our meals to us. <br/>The place was packed and the ambience was great.<br/>10/10

Amazing all rounder!. What the hell! Why haven't I heard of this place. <br/>I came here with a group of people a week ago and we had a sharing menu between the 15 of us. $29 a head and we were given some quality food. Amazed at the value and selection we got for the price we paid. <br/>Came back again on thursday with my partner and had a steak which was there promo for the day. Seriously the cut of meat and the ingredients used were again amazing and for $15 was better value for money than 80% of the crappy over priced restaurants along chapel.. Don't understand how this place isn't on the map. GET ON IT!<br/>The drinks and service were also top notch.
Rebecca
Such a nice night a Hoo Haa! Really nice atmosphere and super friendly staff. The food was yummy! Recommend booking, it got pretty busy! Would definitely go back to Hoo Haa!

Nice ambiance. We went there as a group of friends for friend's birthday. Very nice ambiance. The food was disappointing. They did not have enough food left for us (as we all are vegetarians).<br/>Not a value for money unless you find a deal (happy hour)<br/><br/>Anuj

Highly Recommend!!. I have been here for both just drinks and for a birthday dinner. Hoo Har does both settings so well!!<br/>They have a great selection of cocktails. But its the food that is to die for! Love the cauliflower salad. But my absolute favourite is the pistachio ice cream!!!

I used to come here for the pizza's some time ago but hadn't been back until recently when i was walking past with a friend and decided to pop in randomly. <br/><br/>We were greeted by the friendly maitre' d who seated us at the bar whilst he got a table ready for us. 2 minutes later we had a booth and were ready to order. We ordered the Chicken parma + Gnocchi. The Parma was absolutely brilliant. No pre bottled generic sauces here. Instead I got a thick, reduced, full flavoured napoli sauce which is rare to find on any parma's these days. Good proportion of chicken, ham and cheese to with quality ingredients. Solid fries and salad to accompany to. The Gnocchi was also well executed and full of flavour. <br/><br/>Excellent service from the maitre 'd, wait staff and bartenders. Spot on food and a great funky location. Definitely helping keep the reputation of the better end of Chapel to dine (Windsor).

Haven't been here a while but went twice in the last few weeks and was really impressed! Nice food and lovely staff.

Totally Underrated. I went into hoo haa last week for birthday drinks and maybe... something to eat. After taking the waitresses opinion on cocktails- which were AMARRRZING- we decided to look at the menu. I had a cauliflower salad dish which left me wanting more and my friend had the gnocchi. She's had it a couple of times from hoo haa and cant seem to try anything else. This place is extremley Underrated. The best part was we had our own large private booth which allowed us to laugh and have a good time without worrying if we were disturbing anyone. The service was impeccable- and the food was to die for. I can't wait to try more. No typical hipsters in this joint. This is what Chapel Streets About.

Loved It!. I went to Hoo Haa Bar on Tuesday evening with a friend to catch up for dinner and drinks. To my delight Hoo Haa offer a Pasta night on Tuesdays, whereby you can select one of three delicious pastas and a glass of wine for only $15.00. The food was delicious and the servings were fairly large, I certainly didn't go home hungry. We sat on the outdoor decking area, which was perfect for a warm evening and not too loud, which was great for chit chat. The waiter who served us was very helpful and rather charming. All in all I would definitely go back to Hoo Haa for a meal or a cheeky cocktail!

Forgotten Favourite. I've been invited - and have attended - a few events (from cocktail parties to friends dinners) at Hoo haa recently and truth be told, I had forgotten how much I love this place!! Needless to say, I've been getting my fix pretty regularly lately. Love the food (especially $15 mid week dinners!), BEST cocktails (you can get 2 for 1 during happy hour - WIN!), the staff are all so lovely (and good looking!) and its up and away from the street level chaos of Chapel Street. There is a watermelon cocktail on the menu at the moment that we are obsessed with. We'll be drinking it regularly throughout the summer. Love this place.

Get around it!. I'm a Windsor local and can't resist heading out somewhere in the hood for a meal and/or cheeky drink.<br/><br/>With so many options it's hard to differentiate one bar from another but lately I've found myself becoming a Hoo Haa regular... now basically using it as my benchmark to rate other the Chapel St venues - delicious food, bar staff with some personality, great tunes and also for my bday recently the GM was fantastic help with organising me a guest list and table on a Saturday night.<br/><br/>Essentially the joint is yet to fail me - keep it up guys!

Hoo Haa - Winner by Far. I recently popped into Hoo Haa for a couple of quick drinks with work colleagues having heard only good things about it from friends. I was pleasantly surprised with the extensive cocktail menu as I had expected a basic beer, wine & spirits list. I was then equally impressed with how amazing the food was. The service was exceptional, the Manager (did not catch his name) seemed to be going above and beyond to make sure that not only my table but also the others in the restaurant were looked after. The water on our table never ran out, we never had to pop up to the bar to order another drink and the food was on our table within 15 minutes of ordering. I would 100% recommend this venue to other people for anything from a few quiet ones in the sun to a work christmas dinner or a catch up with friends. Hoo Haa is a winner in my books.

Unreal cocktails and super tasty food, very cool and personable staff. The whole evening went off without a hitch and we all had a ball. Cannot reccomend highly enough - what a slick operation.

Don't believe the advertising. Website and menu advertise Thursday night steak night. Get there and they withdraw the offer. Not impressed.

Hoo Haa - Prahrans hidden gem. When my friend suggested Hoo Haa for dinner wish a large group I was skeptical, isn't Hoo Haa just a bar? What an incredible find! I've eaten at Melbourne best restaurants & Hoo Haa is easily within the top 10 meals I've ever had. The steff were friendly & attentive & the food was amazing! We had a few people in our group with food allegies & they were very well looked after. Get down to Hoo Haa before the rest of Melbourne discovers this foodie heaven.

Went in to Hoohaa for dinner on Friday night. The place was packed, our table of 4 ordered a few small sharing plates , then had mains. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. 10 out of 10. Wait staff were quick and general vibe of the place was great. Defiantly be back again.

Delicious entree is entree size. Fantastic food although when you order entree size it really is entree size. I ordered the gnocchi and it was delicious! I went there for my birthday and the staff were highly accommodating in fitting us in (about 15 of us). I was delighted to find that happy hour was until seven o'clock on a Saturday night, definitely added bonus!

Had my birthday dinner at Hoo Haa on Saturday night and everyone enjoyed it so much! Fantastic food, (try the lamb, it is delicious!) fantastic service and fantastic atmosphere. After dinner our group stuck around for some drinks at the bar. The party really got started later when the DJ came on and we danced all night! The bar staff were fantastic too. Never had to wait too long for a drink, which is a bonus! In a busy bar in melbourne it feels like you spend half the night waiting to be served - but not at hoo haa! Most of my friends who came to my birthday are thinking of booking dinner for their birthdays too. Had such a great night! Cant wait to go back :)

Possibly the worst food in the 3181. Do not want. Avoid.

Hoo haa's - delicioso. Thinking back on my meal(s), it could've been a dream, or an oasis of gourmand excitement. How could there be such good food, so well priced, on lets face it, wanker-ville chapel street? Chapel is the last place I think about for good food, but things it seems are changing. Hoo haa's smartly have recruited a Grossi-Florentino chef, Jess Barnes who is shaking up the street, and that can only be a good thing for us all.<br/><br/>Arancini, (wild mushroom and fontina) and croquettes (pumpkin and gorgonzola....criminally good) gave us our first insight into the balance of textures, flavours and .....joy. So crunchy, with heart felt textures inside. Following these, were frankly food of the gods. A crab omlette with sweet corn and lime, was light, fluffy and contrasted with the silky smooth eggs/crab with the tartness of a twist of lime and sour flavoured sauce. (drool.)<br/><br/>The gnocchi, was a triumph of textures, flavours and bounce. The walnuts creamy crunch, balanced the tartness of the radicchio and cut the richness of the pork sausage, harmonising with the sour dough gnocchi, rimmed to hold those flavours. Yes, those ones!<br/><br/>Dessert was the Marchese, so intricate in build and ridiculously cheap. $10 for chocolate marquis, fig and pistachio cake, salted caramel and mocha ice cream. I don' t even know what half of that means, but I know what it tastes like. Amazing.<br/><br/>Do yourself, your friends, and your new liberal friends a favour. Get down there, have a drink and order everything!

Awesome awesome food! highly recommend. Amazing food!! Recommend about everything on the menu. I saw a write up on the Vine boosting the new Chef Jess Barnes formally from Grossi Florintino. Check it out people. Prices and food quality are too good to be true.

What a find. Well what a find. Up we went with no expectation. On a value Tuesday I think it was. Best steak and they do an awesome Sangria in the Jug. Staff are very chatty. Just a great value good food night out. Awesome patrons to look at as well. Something for everyone.

Pizza was good, parma was massive (but a bit burnt). Drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were good.

Great for a quick meal. We will be back to try a longer meal. We went to Hoo Haa on a Saturday night for a quick meal before seeing a movie at the Astor Theatre. We arrived only to find all tables were booked. When we explained to the waiter we would not be staying long he happily found us a table in one of the booths and politely asked us if we could finish our meal in about an hour and a half. Plenty of time.<br/><br/>The menu included a wide range of interesting dishes but given we were in a hurry we chose a couple of gourmet pizzas. We were not disappointed.<br/><br/>The decor is modern and funky with a pleasant atmosphere.<br/><br/>The staff were professional, friendly and attentive.<br/><br/>We will definitely return to Hoo Haa to try a more substantial meal but we will remember to book a table.

This modern funky hidden restaurant is a great chapel st secret. The ambient dining room, awsome alcoves for small groups, the professional and attractive staff! Love this place
