Review La Tienda - Windsor

J Restrepo
Authentic Colombian food with generous and succulent serves. It's attended by friendly staff. Would recommend bandeja paisa which resembles the food from the high country mountains in Colombia. However, if you are not used to large individual serves be sure to bring someone with you to share! The "Tinto" which is a brewed ground coffee like you would have it at any home in Colombia is also recommended.

My first time in a Colombian restaurant and I enjoyed it. Food, service and ambiance were great. We had a plate with mixed meats that was delicious, but the soup wasn’t very tasty.

Very friendly warm staff. The food was very delicious. It is also kids friendly as they are not too hot.

It was the first impression of Colombian food experience. Staff were super friendly and thoughtful. All dishes were amazing! I do recommend to make a reservation beforehand, as the restaurant are always busy.

Delicious and authentic Colombian food and drinks at affordable prices. There is a great restaurant atmosphere, the location is easy to get to on High Street and the food is good quality when delivered too!

Nice atmosphere. Food is ok. A bit on the pricey side. Friendly staff.

The Ceviche was delicious and I tried the Michelada was different and enjoyable. However, everything else was subpar. Got the Bandeja and the meats were either dry or flavourless. The soup was also ok. The decor and staff were lovely so it is a shame the main dishes were so unpleasant.

I've always loved that place, been going there for years. The food is perfect every time, lovely staff and warm atmosphere but sadly the prices have gone up too much

I can’t wait to go back and bring some friends to have some arepas and picada which are very delicious and filling, the natural juices are made of colombian exotic fruits which I really recommend, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere of the place is really cool with some colombian music in the background

I love the new venue and the menu. Food is great. Love the hot dog. Very similar to the one in Medellin. Empanadas con aji are great! Lovely staff.

Fantastic Colombian joint, love the atmosphere and the food! Customer service is simply the best, takes you back to that fantastic country that is Colombia. They say, "Colombia is Passion", I reply "La Tienda is Passion"!!! Keep up the good work!

The arepa is nice. We order a Picada and Patacones I found that was bland. Patacones were served individually and not in a big wrap like in Colombia. Lastly, they were not serving coffee eventhough they have a coffee Machine there... (Yes, Colombian restaurant without coffee)

The food was so delicious if you are veg, you can ask for the cazuela de frijoles without meat and you will be very happy you did. The beans from Colombia, made like you would get at home, made me so happy and full!

My experience in la tienda was awful. The food was expensive and very bad. But the worst thing was that the food poisoned me and my husband. Really bad place. The owner is a rude person. Shame but not recommended at all.

Organised a dinner for a large group with La Tienda last night (Saturday.) My girlfriend is Colombian and we wanted to share the cuisine with our friends. Every single person loved their entrees, meals & desserts, from the extensive (but not overbearing) menu. The bar is also well stocked, including plenty of authentic Colombian offerings. The decor is fun with Colombian fare all over the walls, music clips playing on the TV, and many different Colombian football jumpers hanging from the ceilings. Service was absolutely wonderful (thankyou to Alejandra for looking after us.) Value for money is excellent - even more so when you factor in 10% off for cash payments. Thankyou La Tienda for a fantastic, memorable night out.

One Friday night on the tram, we went past La Tienda and commented that we were yet to try it out. So we changed our minds, got off the tram and grabbed a table. I love that the menu & drinks list look to be straight out of Colombia. The difficulty started when trying to decide what to order. I asked for description of the imported beers and the waitress struggled and just recommended her favourite. We attempted to make sense of the menu then ordered empanadas and arepa con chorizo for entree. My wife's entree arrived 10 minutes before mine and so haphazard was the service that her main was delivered whilst I was still eating my entree. We sent it back and asked for a gap of 10-15 minutes before serving the mains. Probably a big mistake as the dishes were kept warm somewhere & redelivered. Trying to get another drink proved difficult on a night with only 3 other tables occupied. One person behind the bar was only interested in their phone and I had to wave my arms to get our waitress's attention. It sounds awful to describe food as bland but in this case it really sums up our choices and the entrees were the highlight. It was only after we had finished that the waitress took an interest in what we ordered and gave us information about the menu - if only this had happened before we ordered. Something as simple as rewriting the menu with accurate descriptions & giving the food some love would be an easy way to improve the experience. Remember, not everyone has had Colombian food before.

Went there for a birthday dinner. Place was packed and not many floor staff. The service was super slow. We asked for our meal several times and no-one knew how long will it take. <br/>After reading the previous review and some in google, the answer from the "manager" is quiet rude, maybe they need to remember that they are representing the face of the business in social media and they can treat customers in a bad manner.

La Tienda has bright colours, columbian music and good vibes. Unfortunately the food has significantly less character than the decor. Went with two friends and was underwhelmed by the food, it was very bland. It's not a horrible place to eat, but an exceptionally forgettable one. Given the great location and awesome decor, hoping they can get past the poor quality food.

If you're Colombian or have lived in/near Colombia before, you'll recognise all your old favourites. Food was good, service was quick and friendly, and portions were large. A bit on the pricey side for this type of restaurant, but an overall positive experience. If you've never travelled to South America, your palate may not be used to this type of food, but worth a try if you're looking for an authentic South American experience.
