Review Windsor Rsl Easy Lane - Windsor

Dan Duncan
Inside the Windsor RSL this hidden treasure is outstanding. The decor is extremely industrial/rustic with the added element of greenery throughout to make you feel relaxed. The staff we encountered were all helpful and the menu was vast with some amazing and different concoctions. The Pig Sty as starters was amazing and our other meals were fresh and delicious. Definitely will be visiting again.

Great food and great environment. We went there with young kids and they enjoy the food alot. Love the pork ribs, it was tender and juicy. Recommended if you are visiting Hawkesbury

Good atmosphere, but way overpriced. $46 for a 300g scotch fillet, chips and a sauce!!! Friendly staff, but just too expensive all round for what you get, and only allowed to use 1 Discover voucher,. Its all money so canr comprehend why I couldn't use 2??

I did not know easy lane existed. The food was really good I ordered the kranksky burger. And I'll admit it was so good. I would highly recommend. And the staff are super friendly I would highly recommend checking out this place I hope you will enjoy the experience as much as I have

My partner and I dined at Easy lane at the Windsor RSL (12/06/22) approx. 7.30pm. While the food was nice, the service lacked. Our meals were bought out with no cutlery or napkins. We had to go ask for them.

The Double lane way burger is quite good, with a decent amount of avocado and marinated chicken breasts which tasted nice. Though I do wish the bacon was crispy. For $26 its definitely on the steep side and although there is a good level of quality I don't think its worth the price. The restaurant is pretty casual and vibrant with natural lighting and accommodates for all group sizes. Would visit again.

Happy, friendly staff. Following the covid safe plan. Good setting and atmosphere. Nice Cocktail selection for an RSL eatery. A bit hit and miss with the meals at times. All in all very happy for this local gem. With the awesome deal they have of doubling your dine vouchers between the two of us we got all of this for $2.60!!!!!! Fantastic initiative.

Great lunch, nice and warm by the fire. Food was delicious. Music a little too loud. Service was lovely, very polite

I was not very impressed with the range of vegetarian options on the new menu. I will probably be waiting until the next menu change to go here again.

I can’t believe this place exists.
Tucked in the back of Windsor rsl is this absolute gem. We discovered it by accident but will definitely be driving the 70ks to enjoy this experience again. Great atmosphere, simple but conscientious service, superb menu, wonderful wine and beer list and fantastic cooking. Everything was delicious.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
This is a pretty venue to sit back in, relax and enjoy amazing food. Easy Lane, at South Windsor RSL, is well worth visiting. For those with healthy appetites, check out the ribs! They are eye-poppingly huge and are a massive dish for one or such a good dish to share. For drinks we both had cocktails. Sir had a Columbian Necktie - Havana 770, butterscotch schnapps, pineapple and lemon. It was nicely presented in a lovely tall glass and there was plenty of it. Mlady eyed and chose the EL Tea as it had ginger in it. The EL Tea was made up of bourbon, apple, citrus vodka, ginger liquor and house tea. This too was presented in a lovely tall glass and was certainly a very tasty refreshing cocktail.

Food is decent.

So I need to try this place again, I had the dish that resembles a cheeseburger and it was relatively nice. Nothing special.

To the places defence I wasn't really hungry, there were some other pretty hearty looking dishes on the menu.

The atmosphere would be great for most, it looks fantastic, like a huge beer garden. They had live music, which is awful for my hearing impairment. Unsure if that's a regular feat.

*Special thanks to our friend Brendon (@brendonthesmilingchef) for being such a wonderful host and inviting us to this event . Ever encountered one of those people who continuously repeat the phrase ‘West is Best’ when you’re attempting to maintain a normal conversation? I’ve always found these people have never actually stepped outside the borders of Newtown and probably have never been acquainted with a station further than Summer Hill.

Before the cold weather began setting in we were able to experience Easy Lane at Windsor RSL.

Being a previous visitor of Fork Brasserie Bistro in this club, we were expecting this experience to top that by twofold. It was very close, but being in a large group on this occasion caused a few avoidable mixups.

Because there was 20 or so of us on this occasion we were seated inside rather than out in the beer garden. We were seated with menu's already on the table. We all paid separate but were not given separate buzzers so this meant that meals were given to the wrong people.

The Szechuan Dusted Calamari was the best I've had. We ordered a share plate and you couldn't help eating more and more of this delicious goodness so the plate was gone very quickly. For mains we ordered the Lobster, Beef Rib and Chicken Sliders. The menu does not mention a side of chips with the Sliders so we ended up with two bowls. Tasting Lobster for the first time in this Slider was definitely a plus. It was fresh and delicious, as were the other Sliders. It was the perfect portion size after eating the Calamari.

In a smaller group I would definitely recommend eating at Easy Lane. Their menu calls for new dining experiences which are great for any occasion. I would also recommend trying the Fork Brasserie Bistro in this RSL because they also have an equally extensive and family friendly menu.

Super impressed. Driving towards the RSL I was worried but the Interior of easy lanes beer garden is immaculate. The food isn't too different. Mains were perfect. Simple beef burger and great steak both executed perfectly. Desserts were also a real standout. Edible garden was the pick for me. Will return.

It's a shame the menu changed because I had heard such great things about the chicken burger and I was very excited. As there was no longer a chicken burger I ordered the Angus burger. I can't say it was that great. It was ruined by an extremely thick chunk of meat. I understand it's a burger but the meat slice was way too thick, it made me feel sick. The chips needed a little more seasoning also. The decor is nice and service is friendly. I have heard a lot of good things about Easy Lane, it's a shame my experience wasn't better.

Just what Windsor needs - trendy food with the decor of an inner city garden cafe. Came here with the family on a Friday night (with a booking). The staff were very polite and friendly. I ordered the angus beef burger, and we also ordered sweet potato chips for the table. The burger was tasty and juicy despite the bun being a little dry, and the chips were great. The sweet potato chips were also some of the best I've ever had. Definitely would like to come back here sometime.

One word of advice that I would give to the owners however, is to bring back the old pizzas! I noticed the menu has changed from some of the reviews on here, and featured an amazing mediterranean pizza that I wanted to order but unfortunately it was no longer on the menu when I went. Hopefully next time I go they bring it back!

Loved this place!
Food was great, service was friendly, respectful (coz my family can be quite difficult) and extremely helpful and the decor and vibe is beautiful!
I got pork ribs and really liked them though the sauce was a bit excessive and a bit spicy which they did not warn of at all on the menu.
Mostly decent price for everything you get minus the pizza coz it was actually pretty small and underwhelming taste for $18.
Cocktails were only $10! Which is a nice surprise and they were very strong lol (not much of an alcohol drinker so I died in no time). But I wouldn't suggest the strawberry mint cocktail as it tastes like chemicals and literally nobody on my table of 11 liked it.
I like that the plants all around the outdoor setting are all real and that they put effort into creating a relaxing atmosphere.
Anyway I absolutely recommend as I will be returning!

If you're a 20 something or 30 something and stating in around Windsor I highly recommend this.
It's weird that this place is in an RSL it has a Grounds of Alexandria vibe decor inside the place, without the crap that goes with that place.
It was a busy Saturday night and man can I tell you can they bang out a plate fast! The menu is sophisticated-casual meaning casual food with effort put into it. The menu has more additions to it that is on this Zomato site and I hope that gets uploaded. Sorry I didn't!
I'm a qualified BBQ judge and competitor now and I can advise that you won't be disappointed with the ribs. Yes you can always cook them better at home but these by far are the best that I have ordered out in Australia. Was not an over cooked mess and 'falling off the bone' and were Al dente as they should be.
Head Chef runs a tight ship here meals are fast out. We had an appetiser the waitresses cleared fast and then had our mains to us moments faster. City venues could definitely learn a thing or two here!
Well done Chef. Will be back if we're out this way again.

It was about an hour drive for me but nonetheless it was quite a nice experience. It's quite fancy despite it being housed at the RSL. Food it pretty good and the portion sizes are quite generous.

Sizzle your appetite with a feast after driving a little further out west, enjoyed in a relaxed and open space. Saute with the szechuan dusted calamari to start, a spicy and flavoursome delight complemented with addictive aioli sauce. Continue to spice your palate with a large serving of pizza topped with chorizo, smoked ham, olives and chilli ground beef on a doughy base. Add a prosciutto salad tossed with great ingredients but a little too heavy on the dressing. Finally, bake into the sliced apple pizza, which was again presented on thick dough, but quite a delightful treat.

Wow an RSL club with class. You walk into there and instantly are transported to classy country pub with any beer you could wish for all on tap. The staff were friendly the food was great, good job Windsor RSL

Easy Lane is a nice venue for a group of friends to have drinks, food and to chat away in a trendy atmosphere. It's deceiving on the outside as it's located within the Windsor RSL but you quietly escape into the outdoor and indoor setting of what feels like a clean, spacey version of a newtown beer garden.

I return to Easy Lane on a Thursday afternoon in early January with my friend Nicholas Rider, a talented portrait and event photographer. We’ve been invited to enjoy a three-course meal with drinks courtesy of The Atticism and Easy Lane. We’re shown to a corner table for two in a sunny position

It’s a little quiet for a Friday lunch but I’m enjoying the range of ‘90s hits from John Mayer’s Daughters and Corrine Bailey Rae’s Girl Put Your Records On, both of which are on my iPod playlist. Evening sessions at Easy Lane often feature live performances, and I’m told it’s often best to make a booking. But enough about the venue, I’m starving!

Drinks

Being responsible drivers, Nick and I passed on sampling the local craft beers once again, but I will definitely be back to try one of there local brews, as well as a glass of the Summer Holiday or A Bit Nuts cocktails – with a designated driver in tow of course. In my opinion though, it was way too warm a day for alcohol, so I settled with my trusty glass of icy cranberry juice. If you’re dining with friends, Easy Lane offers a range of shared Cocktails and Sangria too!

Entrée

The meals at Easy Lane are mostly based around sharing plates and boards. A quick glance at the menu and I feel my mouth start to water. Nick and I both know we cannot look past the 1kg Fried Chicken Wings ($24). Our waiter tells us we’ve made a good choice, saying that most people are surprised by the generous portion size.

The wings arrive in all their glory. They are stunning to look at with a sticky, red barbecue glaze which I know I will enjoy licking from my fingers soon. Best of all they are unbelievably tender! The meat practically falls of the bone, and the sauce is tangy, spicy and caramelised with all those gorgeous golden bits that are just wonderful to nibble on. I’m enjoying the blue cheese sauce which matches perfectly with the sticky glaze. It’s so creamy and unctuous, but I wish there was more. The coleslaw and celery sticks provide just the right amount to veg to make you feel like you haven’t been too naughty with your order.

Main

From the pizza kitchen located at the main bar you can watch the chef roll balls of leavened dough into large discs, then expertly spread with a house sauce and a range of delicious toppings. We’re keen to sample one of the tasty wood-fired pizzas so decide on the Cajun Chicken Pizza ($40) which comes in a shared size.

It’s huge, roughly the size of a coffee table, and loaded with chunks of spiced chicken, creamy green avocado, sun-dried tomatoes and ridiculously delicious streaky bacon. An absolute gem of a dish and quite probably one of the best pizzas I’ve had to date – this includes pizzas I’ve sampled across Italy too! I’ve never been to New York, nor tried New York Pizza, but if Easy Lane’s offering is anything to go by then I cannot wait!

Nick and I both decided that a burger was in order. Unable to choose between the Chicken or Beef burgers we found solace in the Easy Trio of Sliders ($26); mini brioche bun filled with Pulled Pork, Braised Beef Short Rib and Honey, Garlic and Soy Merriwa Quail.

The pork was tender and delicate but could have benefitted from some smoky barbecue sauce mixed through. Still, the apple slaw proved to be a winner and you can’t beat the combination of apple and pork. I quite enjoyed the tender, smokey beef which sat on caramelised onion and worked wonders with a touch of honey mustard. The quail proved to be a surprising number with its smack-in-the-face wasabi slaw. In a little bronze pot to the side were crispy hand cut chips. They were well seasoned and made from golden, buttery potatoes with the perfect crunch.

Most meals are served on platters carved from up-cycled from wooden off-cuts from the bar and kitchen. They feature designs inspired by Moby Dick, Edvard Munch’s The Scream and even a chicken. Easy Lane’s woodcrafter hand-turns each board into a unique treasure before they are stamped with the official branding. It’s a sign of the thought that goes into every detail at the restaurant, which ultimately leads to a great overall experience at easy lane.

Dessert

I have to admit that I’m stuffed to the brim way before thoughts about dessert even creep into my mind. We couldn’t even finish the whole pizza (instead Easy Lane Staff happily pack it as a take-away to be enjoyed for dinner that evening). We go for a Cheese Board ($35) and a Trio of Gelati, offering to surprise us with the flavours. I see a trend happening here...good things come in threes and all.

We are presented with the gelati first. Perfect scoops of salted caramel, rainbow swirl and bubblegum gelato arrive drizzled in a mixed berry compote. The salted caramel is superbly creamy with though slightly more sweet-than-salty toffee flavour. The rainbow and bubblegum flavours are quirky, colourful and fun, though the bubblegum is slightly grainy. The berry compote provides a gentle acidity to foil the sweet, creamy gelato and is the perfect match with the berry sauce. The gelato flavours change regularly so be sure to check the specials board to see what’s available.

Then the Cheese Board arrives and is served on Moby Dick (remember the hand-crafted boards I mentioned earlier); a colourful arrangement of locally-made Blue Vein, Camembert and Cheddar cheeses served with a wedge of quince paste, strawberries, dried figs and apricots, walnuts and lavosh. You can’t fault a good cheese board and this is certainly one of them.

The Verdict

I only have good things to say about Easy Lane. The service is exceptionally friendly and warm and staff members will go out of their way to ensure you are having a great time. Meals were well-cooked, delivered within reasonable time and with a wide range of options there is definitely something for everyone. Do try a pizza and the chicken wings and if you can, book a table in the evening to really make the most of this exciting venue which I’m sure will be of great inspiration to many food ventures in the not-too-distant future.
