Made the short drive from the coast to Bent on Food after seeing reviews. Sunday lunch time and it was hectic. The staff were amazing and we were informed there would be a wait on food before seating. Great coffees came promptly and we were happy to relax and wait. The salmon and the roast vegetable salad were both lovely and filling. We couldn't fit cake so bought some to go. Certainly worth the drive.
Went for breakfast after a long drive from sydney. I was greeted on my entry with a smile. The service was excellent and the breakfast was delicious. I had the eggs Benedict with salmon and mushrooms. The eggs cooked perfect with a good hollandaise sauce.
I ordered a long black with no sugar, the coffee was a good one. I ordered one to go as well.
If you are from the area or passing by, I highly recommend you stop in. I'll try lunch when I'm next in Wingham (west of Taree)

Wingham is a little off the beaten track if you’re heading north on the Pacific Highway. Those who do opt to take the twenty-kilometer detour will find a picturesque town set around a town square containing Central Park. In the park you will see a huge log that pays homage to the area's woodcutting period. Facing the park you’ll find a number of historic buildings, running from a 1907 Victorian-style School of the Arts to an 1884 state heritage-listed Post Office. Despite the architectural beauty, Wingham is a sleepy place that seems to have escaped much of the adaptive reuse that often reinvigorates heritage towns.Despite this there is one food business worth looking at: Bent On Food. It is run by Donna Carrier, who grew up in the region, and is a staunch advocate for locally produced food and wine, as you’ll easily ascertain from her menu and well-stocked shelves. The product range is a particular standout; with products I’ve rarely seen, like pear and calvados jam, to ones I regularly covet, like Barefoot Farm’s amazing pecans from their farm in Eltham. The shelves and soft rainbow of...
Dined here with others, all had very tasty food. Wraps were large and cheese used was of a high quality. Excellent service from attentive staff. Coffee was first class.
Great coffee, nice atmosphere and reasonable food... But the food takes aaaaages to come out. Service from the wait staff, but I think the speed of the food from the kitchen lets them down. I waited 45 minutes for a club sandwich! Maybe they need a second chef during busy times like, you know, lunch? Would go back, but probably just for coffee. They sell a nice range of local food products too.
Fabulous food and wonderful ambience. This is my all time favourite cafe restaurant in the region. Great meals, fabulous coffee, beautiful garden. I love this place and go there all the time.
Winner. Why oh why was Bent on Food not around when I was a local ? I can't wait to come back and eat here again. The coffee was superb, the food delicious and the atmosphere laid back and comfortable. Loved it. 10/10 service, food and vibe. Better than anything I've had in Brisbane lately !!

Came for a Saturday breakfast. The coffee was good and my big breakfast was big and I really enjoyed it. I will be back.
Manning Valley's Finest!. Bent on Food is a brilliant cafe in the lovely town of Wingham, just 15min out of Taree.
They offer a great selection of generously sized meals - with vegetarian and gluten free options throughout. The staff are so friendly and super helpful, and service is fast, even though they are busy!
Great lunches for everyone - the 'Bent on Food Produce Selection' (serves 2) is delicious, with a range of cheeses, smoked meats - all local produce - with pickles of chef's choice and condiments (most of which are available to buy and take home with you). For meals, the corn and zucchini fritters are amazing, as are the Bent on Food Steak Sandwich, Caesar Salad, and the Big Salad Wrap (which really is BIG!).
The staff make coffee to die for - great to take away or to have with their homemade scones or brownies!
Just a couple of doors up is Bent on Life - a sister shop to Bent on Food with the most beautiful gifts and French Provincial homewares - as well as the most fantastic eco-friendly Neoflam cookware. I could spend hours browsing through there!
With their friendly staff, great prices and amazing food, it's definitely the place to be.
Hidden gem. Bent on Food is a gourmet surprise in a quiet town 15 min from Taree. Having previously "eaten" a few doors down, which was terrible!! on another occasion (because Bent was closed that day) we were pleased to find Bent on Food open.
The menu was about a dozen dishes so the service was quick even though it was busy.
Lovely local jams and pickles along with herbies spices, hand made chocolates, gift items and home made cakes are sold.
There are gluten free options on the menu and the food was fresh modern Australian and reasonably priced.
The coffee was great too. Highly recommend for a cheap tasty lunch or brunch.
Great place for a meal and coffee.
Lovely location in the Main Street. Friendly staff and good service. Well worth a visit if you in the area.
Friendly staff in a friendly atmosphere. Old worldly reminds me of an old fashioned store / restaurant. Was very busy but staff did a great job serving customers. Added to that coffee was good too. All at a reasonable price. Not much to add in this update except coffee was bitter. Very unusual. Still great service.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch on Saturday; shared the brisket burger and pear and haloumi salad with my husband. A glass of wine each recommended by the wait staff , which we both enjoyed. Husband is hard to please but he really was impressed. I have had lunch here before and never been disappointed. Well done Donna & team.
Bent on Food would have to be my favourite cafe. I just love the atmosphere. There is always such a variety of menu item to choose from and I love the fact that they support local producers. Their french toast is the best that I have tasted!
Willing to adjust and/or build a plate with the things I like. To me, that's the mark of a good Cafe, their willingness to construct a meal, modified as it may be, and it was beautiful too. Ty😊
So good, I had it twice!
Nice spot to top by for breakfast and coffee. Their homemade tomato relish that come with big breakfast was so good we had to get a jar from their shelf. There are also lots of products and some other local goods for grab. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff here especially Laura (I think that was her name) super helpful
I review a lot of breakfast cafes and only found BOF as we were randomly passing through Wingham. This easily rates as my favourite breakfast in recent months. The guy hosting/serving did an incredible job of making everyone feel at home and our breakfast dishes were phenomenal. The crispy bacon (including rind) and grilled banana on the fluffy pancakes pleased my partner and every item on the big breakfast plate was prepared perfectly. The seasoning and mustard seeds inside the Kransky worked well and like another reviewer said, after trying the tomato relish that comes with this dish, we bought a bottle. Seating is available at the front, inside, on the deck at the back or seat yourself beyond the deck in the small garden.
We have recently moved to Wingham and have had brunch at Bent on Food a few times. We have loved it every time. The food is delicious and the staff are really friendly, and accommodating even in very busy times they have time for a smile.
